Superfish in Merton

I today visited for a takeaway, second time in two weeks. My previous visit was 4 years ago! A few years ago I started a very low carb lifestyle. Like many others on low carb, I also avoid seed oils. I do not believe vegetable oils to be at all heart healthy. So, I avoided takeaways due to carbs but also because of most restaurants using seed oils. I recently remembered how the Superfish website talks about cooking in the traditional way with beef tallow. So, last week I rang them just to confirm that they indeed use beef fat. The lady on the phone "apologised" for them not using vegetable oil, while I thanked her and said I'd be there in a few minutes. My usual order is a large haddock and chips. Last week was the first time I saw their takeaway boxes. I had a decent sized haddock and a very generous amount of chips in one of the long boxes. Today, same order and two boxes. At home I find a larger than usual haddock taking up most of the long box. My chips were separate in a square box. My photo of the haddock overlapping my dinner plate didn't come out ( thumb on lens? ) but the photo of the haddock in the box has my 27cm plate underneath. This was again a very generous serving. For what it's worth, my cat very much enjoyed a little bit of haddock I picked out before lemon, salt or vinegar. I do like that Superfish have always offered a freshly sliced wedge of lemon. It is my preference to only ask for lemon. I have good salt and vinegar at home which I prefer to use, preferring to season my fish and chips as I eat them. Well, having taken a four year break from Superfish, I will be back quite regularly. As long as they carry on using healthy, tasty beef tallow, I doubt there is a tastier fish and chips to be had.

The chips, curry sauce and battered sausage are all amazing here. The customer service and portion size make it one of the best takeaway providers in Morden. There is also an eat in restaurant which has a cosy quiet vibe. I enjoy eating from here so much it has become a weekly tradition for my girlfriend and I.

The batter on the fish was not crispy enough. It was crispy at the ends but not so for the main part of the fish!! so slightly disappointed as I do think there should be a crunchy texture. Chips, curry sauce and sausage were all good otherwise

Unfortunately the quality has gone down recently, tried again tonight but it was worse than ever - the batter was very thick and soggy probably undercooked, it was also practically cold when we got home. Will try elsewhere next time which is very disappointing as we have been customers for over 15 years !

The fish quality was good but there was a heavy greasy smell. They should not cook everything in the same oil. I was tasting heavy sausage while I was trying to eat my fish. Those are completely different flavours.

Very hospitable and family-friendly atmosphere. I ordered a large cod with chips to take-away but decided instead to dine-in when I saw the nice setting. It could have frustrated the situation but it didn’t, instead they treated me with great patience and kindness. Excellent customer service.

This place never lets you down! The fish is so fresh and the chips are perfect. Good for takeaway or eating in, the staff are lovely too.

BEST cod in the country, maybe UK? Seems no cod apart from very overpriced at Fisherman's Pier in Edinburgh. Everyone else average and pricey Haddock.

A midweek meal out, so it was fairly quiet, although a steady flow of customers were coming in for take away. I had the fried salmon, delicious, perfectly cooked with a light batter coating. Chips were good chip shop style chips but more crispy - not the greasy fatty soft mess of past tradition. We were served by a charming and polite young lady who smiled and was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Fish and chips is such a lovely simple meal, reminding me of Friday nights when I was a kid. But Superfish takes that to a new level, making the whole experience a good amount more sophisticated and pleasurable than those childhood memories.

Have just finished a thoroughly enjoyable cod and chips with salt, lemon and extra vinegar. It was nicely presented in a box which kept it all hot and was easy to eat from. Chips were perfect as was the fish and batter. I ordered a small portion but there was plenty there. The restaurant was clean, the person who served us was friendly and efficient. All was freshly cooked and I would highly recommend a visit. Next time I will be eating in as the restaurant menu had jam roly poly on the menu with custard or ice cream.

Good quality fish and chips - loses a star for its packaging as it’s fish and chips were stuck to the paper. Batter could improve on the haddock as it was slightly wet and falling off fish.

I just got a portion of chips with salt and vinegar. The service was super fast and polite. The price very reasonable. With just a bit more vinegar the chips would have been perfect. Will go back.

Our local fish and chips shop which has never let us down. The staff are absolutely brilliant, we sat in and enjoyed our dinner for the first time post covid. We would highly recommend eating in or takeaway.

Dining in earns you some freebies as extras! Service is friendly and super fast. It's always chill inside, but their food is always fantastic dining in or taking out. Would always recommend and I'll be back for sure.

I've got take aways from Super Fish for decades but this was the very first time we'd eaten in. Food was delicious, but it always is. Best curry sauce I've had in a long time from a chippie. Service was brilliant. Can't fault it.

This establishment really lives up to its name and never fails to please. The fish is top quality and cooked well and there are free extras like prawns and crusty bread before the main event. Staff are always friendly.

Lovely fish and chips! Too bad it always smells so smokey as in burnt fryer oil. Also, last time I visited they were clearly short staffed and as a result we didn't get drinks for a while and never got our pickles and sauces despite asking.

Coming from Grimsby, I am super critical of fish and chips anywhere else! My sister-in-law invited us for lunch there, so I accepted, thinking I would be disappointed. Well I wasn't! I ordered haddock, which was beautiful - well-cooked, lovely crispy batter! The waitress was just right - attentive, without being 'in your face'. All in all an excellent experience for a Saturday lunch. Thank you!

We had takeaway, I ordered plaice & haddock & chips and it was superb. Been eating superfish for years but tonight was top nosh. Thankyou for a great meal.

Perhaps one of the best fish and chips in south London. The catch of the day was amazing. The place does get busy though so do not expect to just walk at peak times. Would recommend to anyone after a decent and well priced fish and chip shop.

Usually superb but tonight this was delivered in the name of a Large Cod!! Not sure if they were running low or the rider was hungry.

We had great fish & chips for our seniors club lunch today, well cooked and delicious, thanks! This was a group order and they were very helpful in taking a large order at short notice and prompt is producing the dinners for collection, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely place, food, staff & great service. My only complaint was that we were charged £2.50 to what they class as a large diet coke that was poured into a small glass from a bottle which is a rip off as when leaving noticed you can buy a can of diet coke for £1.15 as a takeout. £2.50 for the small coke & my large wine was only £5.75!! Otherwise I fully recommend this place 😍

We love Superfish. During lockdown we often collected take away , but we actually ate in for the first time after lockdown. The cod and chips as usual was delicious. I was most impressed with all the covid restrictions that had been put in place. The seating area has been rearranged and social distancing is excellent. We felt very safe. Well done Superfish a lovely eating out experience!

My family first ordered from Superfish back in 2010, we've been going there ever since even though a lot of them are now Veggies... great staff, people, and food. It doesn't have the same quality it used to, but it's still one of the best places out there.

Consistently good quality no nonsense food

I'll start this by saying that I have been to one of the best fish and chip shops in the world - Ansruther Fish Bar (won many awards, tourist go there from all over the word if you haven't been then try go!), point of mentioning this is that this place is seriously close to the same level. The fish is crispy, batter sticks properly to the fish, chips well cooked and good size, can taste they are fresh potatoes. Only downside was the curry sauce, was more like curry glop...not very saucey at all. Would also be good if they asked me if I want salt and vinegar on them (I ordered click and collect) as when I got home they were plain, but nothing lucky I had salt and vinegar at home. Have been here a few times though, very nice fish and chip shop.

Simply the best Fish, Chips and everything they have, for miles

Five years ago the food here was good.but yesterday what a shock we had! The cod was sloppy, the piece of cod was tiny and the batter was flabby & undercooked hence why it was so pale & sloppy. Chips tasted stale & hard. Couldn't eat this food as I was concerned that the rawness of the batter would give me an upset stomach. So took it back and the response from the manager was quite hostile and dismissive. Superfish should take note & look at the White Horse fish&chip shop in Thirsk Yorkshire to see how to cook delicious proper fish & chips. We wont be giving superfish Morden our custom ever again.

Excellent fresh fish. Not greasy. Well cooked. Prices are extremely reasonable too. I hope they survive Covid-19.

Please get rid of Just Eat !! This was the third time I ordered though them and the third time the driver got lost ??? So for the third time the order was cancelled!!

We take for granted the quality of this chippy and simply enjoy the product once or twice per month (9/10 of the time we take away). When faced with similar fodder around the country it is very rare to find flavour, quantity and prices to compare. Well done to everyone involved and thankyou.

Excellent food with good service. Easy to access parking nearby. Price average. Not open every day which is a bit disappointing especially on Sunday. Most of restaurants are open during the weekend and festive days but sadly this is not.

Hadn't been here before. My first visit - but it wont be my last! Warm welcome and seated immediately and given a plate with prawns and warm French bread. I went for the lunchtime special which included cod and chips and a hot drink. Waitress was excellent - friendly and efficient. Food too, was excellent. Flaky cod and crisp batter and great chips. Tartare sauce was good. Overall an excellent lunch.

Chips are very tasty chunky. Nice range of fish. Traditional fish shop. Cosy place. Side salads need more work. Staff really friendly. Food cooked to order.

Conveniently situated just 300m from the Northern Line's southern terminus Superfish is a real find. A traditional fish and chip shop with spotlessly clean and welcoming restaurant alongside with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Haddock and chips were a delight. Batter crisp and not greasy, due to the use of beef dripping. The haddock tasted beautifully fresh and portions were generous. I've eaten most of my fish and chips in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire establishments, including some of the most renowned. This South London gem is not out of place in comparison.

I love to pop in here when on the right shift at work. Probably the best Cod and Chips I have anywhere at the moment. Also the Curry sauce is top notch....

Great fish and chips I went to eat there with my friend we really enjoyed it, I think it's one of the best restaurants of this type plus it's very easy to find just a stone's throw from the Northen line terminus. To recommend. I have been there with friends and we liked it a lot, one of the best fish and chips. Very easy to find near the tube station. Their prices are very reasonable.

Got takeaway: cod & chips, cod roe. excellent food, decent prices. great service. On main road of Morden station so no designated parking, but after certain time can park right on main road

Not only are the takeaways excellent - the comfortable restaurant also has a range of desserts, including such old time favourites as apple crumble, syrup pudding, jam sponge and toffee fudge cake. As well, of course, as lighter sweets! A short walk from Morden tube - turn left outside the station. Highly recommended.

I've been visiting this restaurant since I was a child, and now I'm 45.... Nothing has changed in that time; beautifully cooked fish, crisp, white and fluffy. Chips you can't stop scoffing. Warm bread and prawns when you sit down. And the best tartare sauce on the planet. Service always warm and attentive.... Never as good as a takeaway so would advise to eat in as it's been great for 30 years. I don't live in London any more and this place is one of the things I miss very much

It's a very friendly place and they do make excellent chips, etc. But as with most places in the south the fish is not quite to the quality I am used to. Very well worth the visit overall though.

Fabulous fish (skate is fresh cooked) and chips. Restaurant service is good, has wine and beer on menu. Take out has fast service even on Friday. Plenty of regular customers so that's a good sign of consistent quality.

“It is huge!”. My great friend adviced me about the fish size of the one of the oldest and tradicional fish and chips restaurant in London: SuperFish is very near to Morden’s Undreground station and is the perfect place to have one of the best and tradicional Fish and Chips in London.

Definitely Morden’s local Fish & Chips shop. First and foremost, the food is great. Every single order of fish is made to order so it’s always hot & fresh, as opposed to the opposite when it’s been sitting under a light. Price wise, they have a really good £7 deal for large cod & chips, which I find is quite good. But the stars really are the staff though. Friendly, helpful and approachable; you can tell they’re genuine in the service they offer, and that extends all the way to the cook too. Great stuff guys, keep it up.

Spent £30 on small fish and chips and portion of scampi. Sarcastic customer service when I phoned up to mention it...been buying from there for years but sadly not after tonight.

You cannot beat this place considering how much you get ripped off in so many places selling fish and chips and where it tastes mediocre. Superfish have really friendly staff, the food is classic fish and chips just as you would expect it to be and so honestly priced. Keep it up guys you’re in the lead by a mile!!

After my neighbor saying it was nice cod and chips I decided to get some scampi and chips this evening, ordered and was shocked how expensive it was (based on the fact it was much much more than my favorite place a little further down the road which is much better food), opened the food and was impressed by the portion size, then tried some and immediately regretted it. The chips were ok (some of the better ones in Morden admittedly) but the scampi tasted like plain rubber with a batter over the top, 90% of it ended up in the bin. Cant comment on their other fish but will never go there again as over priced for terrible food in my opinion.

Ordered a large portion of chips costing at about £2.90. Have had the fish and chips here and its super tasty. Great restaurant inside and super friendly customer service. Definitely worth a try and really nice and tasty fish and chip. The best fish and chip shop in Morden.

Access for manual wheelchair is relatively easy if someone is pushing. Unfortunately no disabled toilet due to lack of space, hence the 4 star rating otherwise would be 5 star. Food excellent my Moby Dick portion was excellent. Crispy batter and crispy chips. Fish moist. They do give small prawns beforehand but to be honest we couldn't be bother as they are fiddlt to descale. Attentive service from the waitress who saw my companion had taken out some pills and brought a glass of water without prompting. A small touch that makes you feel welcome.Good to see it is maintaining its standards over its 20+ years. Can recommend.

Went to Morden with a young man two of us were his carers. The waitress couldn't raise a smile,when we asked for the bill separately she said she couldn't do that the bill had already been done when we ordered. She went off with a face like thunder. Came back with 3 separate bills and told us juncture when we order we must tell them then. Well she was so rude,face like a wet weekend. THE WORST CUSTOMER CUSTOMERS SERVICE EVER

Wenn man nach britischen Vorurteilen fragt, der traditionelle Backfisch und Pommes Stube wird bestimmt genannt. Seit über 40 Jahren kriegt man hier das beliebte Gericht - Backfisch und Pommes, ein paar Scheiben Butter geschmierte Brot, und eine richtige Kanne englisches Tee.

If you want to eat in - if you want a takeaway the fish and chips are outstanding, if you want to pretend you're up North you can get Mushy Peas and Gravy, just lovely and never disappoint. Would recommend to anyone visiting Morden.
