Impressive looking,welcoming staff,live music ,Buskers etc most nights of the week.Reasonably priced drinks and great location.Give it a try the new owners are turning it around

Don’t go, rooms and corridors smell of damp needs a total renovation from top to bottom,the staff were friendly

It was very quiet but lovely. The young lady with long brown hair that was behind the bar was was faultless and a credit to the company. We were given popcorn and extra shots on the house. The drinks were reasonably priced and the pub itself was clean and modern. They are under new management and it shows. We have a really lovely time.

Visited on Christmas Eve and New year's Eve both times John Smiths was off as in absolutely disgusting taste , swapped for fosters on Christmas Eve cos they had no draught cider , even though the place was empty,, But new years eve a managed to swap my file John Smiths for cider which a was happy with til a had to pay £8,80 for my pint of cider and a vodka n coke ,,, What a rip off

Rating on cocktails alone I couldn't find fault. Both the décor and ambience was nice with a live DJ and not packed at all. The cocktails were 2 for 1 for an hour here an there which saved us a fortune. They were made to a very high standard and the girls serving were great! Would defiantly go back and recommend highly.

Booked a table on Saturday evening for 1800hrs before a show at the Customs House. Placed order for meal at 1805hrs. Asked where the meal was at 1850hrs, oh it's on it's way. At 1900hrs gave up, I would pay for drinks and have to go.Was told it's a new chef. All I can say is was if he spent less time talking to the staff and more time cooking, we may have got our meal. Left hungry and will advivise people not to bother with his restaurant. At one time it was good. Not now. I have to say the barmaid did say,this is not on and only charged us for our first drinks. Wake up there were a lot of unhappy people.

Sorry but food was terrible, was expecting something very different as the place is very nice. I'm sure they missed out the coconut milk from my Thai curry. Attention to detail needed.

Tried this place today, I wasn't sure what to expect, it was great, food was excellent, very fresh great prices, highly recommend.

Very nice Asian fusion type food cooked right in front of you. Very good value for money and I cannot fault the food. They do right to keep a simple menu as the food consequently does not suffer in quality. Remarkably, when asked what wines they had, the response was, unironically, "red or white" so that became a stab in the dark. I came for the food anyway, which is excellent, very tasty and of a kind that would not otherwise be available in the town. Would definitely recommend!

I have visited the waterfront on a few occasions and enjoyed the lovely surroundings so what a disappointment when I attended a function in the room upstairs to find the fosters and the strongbow were off and a small electric heater trying to warm quite a large area, I asked the staff why the heating wasn't on to be told it was yet the radiators were stone cold ! I asked on several occasions about the heating to be told eventually it wasn't working, everyone sat with coats on, not an ideal situation on a very cold day.

After hearing how amazing this venue was I thought it would be best to check it out and I am pleased I did. The food was hot, tasty, morish and filling. With great combinations and unreal flavours The star of the evening was David, an amazing host and a true professional in the world of hospitality! A legend within his own right and very humble. A valuable asset to a well ran unique establishment. I will be back and very soon too. Thank you x

We came here for a few drinks and some food on Friday night, and we weren't disappointed. The cocktails we ordered came promptly and we're absolutely delicious. The same can be said for the food; it was really fresh and there was so much! Well worth the price! All the staff were attentive and polite, especially the dark haired barman! Absolutely love this place, we will be returning!!

My son, daughter-in-law and myself enjoyed one of the best Thai/Asian meals outside of Thailand last night. We ordered 6 different dishes (small) and each one was gorgeous. Our server was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this restuarant. We will very shortly be going back!

Venue was lovely, barman ways great, food was lovely but not enough of it. I don't think it was value for money by any stretch of the imagination. If we hadn't taken some of our own food there would definitely not have been enough for everyone.

This is my 3rd visit and it has its good and bad points. There is a little bit of a wait on food but it seems nice a fresh and every time I have been the people I'm with have enjoyed it so I don't mind a little wait. I prefer that to hearing a microwave ping and having it within 5 minutes. Another good point is that the staff are friendly. There only seemed to be one lad on the bar though, who was constantly on the go. The bad is that after a stylish refit this place always seems a bit messy. On the bar today was an unplugged kettle, bottles used to clean the tables, what I'm assuming was a reservations book or something that is used in the running of the pub, dirty glasses (which I know can't be helped in a pub but there was hardly anyone in) and the bin behind the bar was overflowing. It's simple little things that are the difference between an OK bar and a good one. Get some more staff in so they can clean up and serve. There is a large glass at the end of the bar for decoration and it's full of marks. Simple things like keeping the decor clean and the surfaces tidy is what stops you becoming just another bar that's gone to ruin in shields. It's been nice to see some new life in shields, don't let it end up going in the typical south shields direction of down hill. It's a lovely bar with nice staff and good food, I could shake the management as they could have a diamond on their hands.

An absolute must for Asian food cooked fresh and great friendly staff and its easy too find great value for money

The staff are miserable and unhelpful, the drinks are overpriced, but what really annoyed me was, when we went in, the bar tender asked if I'd like a tab. As it was quiet I said yes. When the bill came over I gave him my visa as I usually do in expensive wine bars. He then rang on a phone and read out my card details to whoever was on the line. Totally against data protection and anyone could have heard. I was very angry.

I was looking forward to tonight - Thai food and cocktails, a perfect combination in my opinion and with 50% off, what is there not to like? On arrival we ordered our first cocktail only to be told they couldn't make mine (chocolate rose) as they didn't have any milk. What bar/restaurant runs out of milk?? And when your so close to asda, why don't you go and get some???? And then we were told we both had to order the same cocktail, although this is not stated anywhere in their advertising. We didn't want the SAME god damn drink! Then we were told that food was going to be at least an hour and do you know what? It all just seemed too much like hard work, so we just left and won't be returning.

Went here this evening as a family to celebrate my stepdaughters GCSE results. Service is terrible. Waited over an hour for food. Not one member of staff came to give us an update during our wait. I eventually managed to get a waiters attention to ask how much longer we would have to wait, he said another 15 minutes and offered us a free round of drinks, which at this point wasn't good enough so we upped and left. This place is clearly poorly managed and ran by kids. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Sent message of complaint via Facebook messenger on Sunday as yet no reply. Just tried to speak to the manager and got told he isn't available and they don't know when he is next working.

So, this is hard to write but I hope the managers pick this up. The chef is amazing and food beyond the price. The bar staff though are shocking. Non attentive, we watched one search through a bin not once but twice only to pull out an empty bottle and then serve drinks without washing his hands. 3 bar staff working, no one asked us if we wanted top up drinks. We watched them sit at another table while the chef worked above and beyond with no help at all. Kids were well looked after again by the chef (noel),cannot praise him enough. However, management need to be aware that staff are lazy, unattentive and making sure this service is not a 5/5. Shame!

Well we do I start. My wife and my self called in for drink. As we approached the bar counter there was 5 staff to busy doing nothing. Till I waved to be served. I asked if we could have look at cocktail list. We were told only two available .we agreed to try them. They were watered down so much ice my wife could not taste any alcohol. How they were to busy cause I believe some celebrity arriving. However we left asap two bouncers at door having conversation more likely just fowl language coming out there mouth. Some experience. Never again shame nice place but staff need some considerable training.

Beautiful bar; gorgeous cocktails with a huge variety to choose from, beautiful decor and staff who couldn't do enough to help. We also had food which was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Big group of us came here to celebrate graduating and we were extremely well looked after, sipping beautiful cocktails all night. It's such a nice atmosphere inside too, been done out lovely. Didn't try the food but it smelled absolutely lush!

Well.we usually go somewhere in Newcastle but this time we met up at the Waterfront...I got the ferry across from North Shields, 2 came from Jesmond and Gosforth and 1 lives in South Shields. Hey what a find!!!. The Chef is 5 star quality..worked in Dubai( Ras Al Kaimeh) and Saudi in 5 star estabishments....he's originally from Philippines. The food was top notch. We had Board 5 with noodles instead of rice.Prawns to die for and fab veg Absolutely delicious. Good wine for £12.95 a bottle...so very very good value...we did tip well though..but they deserved it especially the chef. Definitely go back.

Visited here Friday night with a group of friends. The whole team are fantastic we couldn't have been made more welcome. Noel the Asian fusion chef certainly knows his stuff and the bar staff have that rare quality of knowing when your drinks need topped up. Service 100% Food 100% Atmosphere 100% Value for money 100%. Definitely worth a visit.. We will all be back...

My friends threw me an amazing hen do at the waterfront last week and there isn't a single thing I could fault. It's such a beautiful and modern venue, fab location, excellent service, attracts a good mix of people and such good value for money, it was just fab.

Took my dad here for a change from the usual Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely fantastic and so cheap! I had king prawn red Thai curry, but I asked for the prawns to be stir fried with the egg fried rice and the sauce in a separate bowl. It was beautiful. My dad had beef with a sauce with rice and a bowl of stir fried veg, I can't remember the exact dish. He finished the lot despite not usually being a fan of Thai food. He has gone back tonight with my mum and sister, he was that impressed. Three of us ate, and the drinks were 3 pints of Strongbow and 2 pints of lager and the bill was just short of £35. The chef, Noel, is a lovely man and we went up and thanked him for such a gorgeous meal. He shook my father's hand and talked to him about his day. I have been telling everyone about it since I went and will be back very soon. Highly recommended!

Went to The Waterfront last night to celebrate my Mam's 60th birthday and what a disaster it was!

From the outside it looks like a decent place for a pint and that's what it is but it actually served Thai food.

Found the waterfront while chasing ships in a brilliant part of South Shields. Returned on a quiet Sunday night for a bite to eat. Most places were closed! I can only say one thing -everything superb. The building design and decor is really good, exciting and inventive. The food was super, made a change to have different flavours and presentations. An excellent variety of really tasty dishes. The staff were really nice and happy and obviously like working there. Happy to chat and of course smile. Refreshing! This place is terrific and can't understand why there is only one other review. It is a MUST place to visit. Will return when back in the area. A brilliant evening.

Whilst visiting the area for a family gathering we decided a meal out would be good. Having driven to the Waterfront we turned left to early and discovered this smart restaurant along a cobbled street. Wow the decor is smart and trendy. The atmosphere welcoming and the staff friendly. The aroma as your meal is cooked amasing setting your taste buds tingerling. The meal was great fantastic value as well. I recommend this restaurant for an evening out or a quick meal for out.
