Nice little countryside cafe popular with locals and plentiful parking. Service was fast and efficient and the menu offered something to suit most people including vegetarians. I had the chickpea and haloumi burger which was surprisingly tasty, and my companion had the gammon steak with pineapple which got a thumbs up. There's ample seating outside and a children's play area which I imagine is popular in good weather. Next time I'll sample the homemade soup. It looked very good. I'll post some photos of the food. Hope this was helpful?

We went there for lunch on the 24th.March which was a beautiful day .The food was good , the service was by young untrained staff. I would not go there for a coffee as it is a brand which nobody I know likes. Why sell a third rate Italian coffee when every Scottish coffee roaster does far better coffee?

I enjoyed our visit to The Waterfront Cafe. The food was good and it was easy to reserve a table (although not necessary). The service was not the best, we received our drinks quite a while after receiving our food and the staff seemed stressed. It wasn’t crazily busy. I got the impression that the staff were not happy. I recommend the owners of this business invest in their staff (good rate of pay, training, positive incentives) to make The Waterfront the very best place to visit.

Staff were lovely. Omelette and 2 baked potatoes seemed very nice, hot and fresh. However I was alarmed to find a piece of what appeared to be a cocktail stick approx one inch long with sharp points at both ends in my mouth as I was about to swallow - it caught the roof of my mouth at the back of my throat and luckily I managed to get the whole lot out before I swallowed - I dread to think what would have happened if I had swallowed it. Showed to waitress who said she would show manager. She then offered to replace meal which I declined. She then advised my meal would not be charged and apologised. When we left my partner pointed out to me that tables had not been sprayed and cleaned properly between customers - bad enough but given covid is still here unforgivable!

Everyone was professional, approachable and friendly. The afternoon tea was really good with tasty sandwiches and delicious scones, cakes and tray bakes and it was excellent value. Despite all the changes due to Covid the staff handled everything in a courteous and friendly manner. My thanks in particular to Colin and to John for looking after is all so well. Wife and l went to this place today for lunch, we had the beef broth to start, it came with a small roll with a wee pat of butter, it was really good. For mains we both had the venison stew, it was exceptional, melt in the mouth good. The veg. was sadly undercooked, but the stew easily made up for that. We bought some lovely apple tart from the counter to take home. Overall we had a very nice lunch in lovely surroundings, we would recommend this eatery to anyone looking for a good meal.

Myself and friends visited this restaurant in August for lunch and was very disappointed After seeing the pictures of their food on their website and recommendations decided to go.Poor to say the least and very dowdy and drab inside. My friend ordered a gammon steak and French fries and what arrived was half a dried up gammon steak and pineapple which had to be sent back.I have to say my other friends fish and chips was gorgeous and mine was ok.Not a great selection of fresh juice either and staff appeared to lack interest didn't stay for coffee. Very good selection of cakes . It is a shame as this is in a beautiful setting but lacks atmosphere .Probably not bad if you're looking for pub grub

First visit here and was pleasantly surprised. Service was good although may be a little slow for some customers because everything appears to be cooked fresh to order. There is not a huge choice on the menu but there is probably something to suit most tastes. Prices are reasonable and it appears to be popular.Battered haddock and chips was good and my only complaint would be the several bones at the tail end of the fish. The other main we had was rainbow trout and this was excellent. The 'clootie dumpling' was nice but appeared to be steamed pudding rather than clootie dumpling. The accompanying custard had been heated in the microwave and was almost at boiling point - this could have been a hazard for the unwary. There is a good selection of cakes and desserts but we will try these at our next visit. The restaurant appeared to be clean. There are several tables outside on the verandah if the weather is suitable. It is a pleasant way to enjoy your food while watching the fishermen on the loch outside.I am happy to recommend and will return in future, possibly often.

Have been a very satisfied customer at The Waterfront for the past 5 years and could not have praised it high enough for good food and service. Hadn't been since Easter this year so did not know it has been under new management since early summer. The place has gone to the dogs. Tasteless potato soup that contained zero potato and an egg mayo sandwich with runny, cheap, white mayo and 2 peices of white egg which ran out of the bottom and all over my trousers! It has lost all atmoshpere and looks cheap with ripped upholstery on some chairs. The flower beds outside are overrun with weeds and the whole place looks tired. I would not recommend this eaterie any longer

I Visit The Waterfront on my fairly regular visits to Ayr. It is a lovely place with very pleasant staff and very nice food. For a change, rather than have haggis in a baked potato with whisky sauce, I asked for haggis with French fries but still with the whisky sauce. Unfortunately the "whisky sauce" had additives in the shape of large pieces of chopped onion and a fair amount of mustard grains. - sadly the onion and mustard grains obliterated the flavour of the whisky sauce. I forked out all of the onion pieces and left on side of my plate. I did mention to the young waitress when leaving. I am all for experimenting with sauces but this was a strange combination for haggis when advertised as haggis with whisky sauce. Will not put me off eating there in future but will give this particular sauce a miss !!!!

Up here visiting family so thought we would try this place. Being a keen fisherman I was interested in what there was to offer and being a bigger foodie, the smokehouse could well be a dangerous option. The cabin is literally that, a cabin, (albeit a bloody big cabin), offering views over the fishing lakes, did also have a chuckle at the "Loch lomond of Ayrshire" comment on the menu but thats Scottish irony. Two breakfasts and a haggis n cheese jacket ordered, coffees delivered then the food arrived after a few minutes. Link sausage, square, tattie scone, bacon, fried egg, beans, toast, tom and black pudding all sat on the plate, goading me. Not having that from a collection of deceased pig, I went in. The black pudding was one of the nicest I have had, both the link and square were nicely cooked and full of flavour, tattie scone was excellent and even the egg was really nice. To be honest it was one of the best breakfasts I have had for a long time. Even the coffee was a nice one, not bitter and a great taste. Overall, found it to be good value with a nice outlook. Even if the wee dugs were scatty!

I will start this review by saying I'm shocked that this lovely little place has a few "terrible" reviews, l would love to take these so called reviewers to places that are genuinely terrible, l can assure you the Waterfront doesn't belong in that category. Myself and my work colleagues have been stopping here for our Breakfast or Dinner for about 9 months now on a regular basis, as its on the A70 on the way in from the A74 it suits us nicely before getting to Ayr for work. The café is in a fishing type cabin which overlooks a few small fishing lakes that always look busy, there is plenty of parking and expect to be greeted by the owners dogs who are always up for a bit of a fuss, Bob is the black one and Squeak is his mother, two lovely affectionate wee dogs.I always find the café clean and tidy with very competent staff, if something is wrong they will quickly rectify it if asked. Carol the owner is often on hand and makes sure your visit is a satisfactory one with a smile and genuine interest in your experience. I have always found that the food is really good, freshly prepared when you order and it is always presented well. We often buy a few homemade cakes to take out and these are delicious, l would definitely recommend the food here to anyone passing by.Good Owner, Good Staff, Good Food!

Lovely place and good food, however I was given the smallest bit of bread with my soup, although I was not charged any extra when I asked for more. It's just a shame they are not more generous with the food in the first place. It would also be nice if you were given a biscuit with your coffee as given in other places.

Just off the busy Ayr to Cumnock road along a fairly rough hardcore lane. We had seen the sign several times and decided to see what the shop and cafe were like. The situation is very pleasant as it is set in countryside with a view of the fishing 'ponds' and the woodlands. It is a busy place and is very much a step up from other cafes of a similar nature - the fishery makes you worry slightly as they often have attached that are a little basic. The word shop doesn't really apply because although they have quite a few items for sale they are mostly blocked by the tables. The food is a reasonable price and it is ideal for a meal before or after being shopping in Ayr or just as a place to go on a quiet weekend. A garden centre has recently opened and is worth a look. Plenty of parking although the first parking area seems more for the anglers.

I have popped into the Waterfront on two or three occasions when passing on the A70.My latest stop there was a case of killing time by eating before an engagement. I had never been disappointed on my previous visits, but, this latest time, I think they excelled themselves.I had the soup/panini option. The soup portion was very good, the panini was excellent, as was the coffee with which I finished. As ever, the meal offered what I thought was great value for money. I entered the Waterfront in the middle of a rush of customers - four or five cars stopping at once. The staff dealt quickly and efficiently with this sudden influx of customers; I did not feel I was rushed, neither was I left waiting. The food arrived promptly, if was good, well-cooked fare, nothing fancy. It filled the gap and left me satisfied. This will not be my last stop-over, there, where an obvious advantage is the theraputic experience of watching the anglers at the adjacent trout lochan.

First time visit but it will not be our last. Having driven passed the sign on many previous occasions, we had always promised ourselves to check it out. Very pleasant location overlooking the hopeful anglers, as they attempt a catch in the landscaped fishery area. We arrived at lunch time and the place was already busy, despite it being a Tuesday. On offer is a variety of menus, all reasonably priced and with a good choice. The service was friendly and smooth and the food was excellent. Give it a go.

We have been to the waterfront several times before for coffee and was very impressed on a lovely sunny day you can sit outside with a lovely view over the fishing area. This visit was for Saturday lunch. The service was excellent and friendly. The food, omelets, was excellent freshly made and not pre made microwaved rubbish. he portions were excellent and the price was very reasonable. You have to keep a very good lookout for the direction sign as it sits well back off the main road. Worth a visit

My Husband and I have been regular visitors to the Waterfront at Coylton however on the last visit they were short staffed, and we had a considerable wait for our food, not a problem to us as we knew the food would be good, we have now learned that the restaurant is going to have different hours now, as when we spoke to the owner she said they couldn't get the staff... so if you do decide to visit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the food it used to open for lunches and then in the evening it was for dinners, but now it's going to close at 6.30pm I myself love this place the staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable too

The waterfont is set back from the road at the side of Coyle Water where fishing takes place. The restaurant overlooks the water with an outside area for sitting which is pretty on a sunny day. The menu is varied ranging from sandwiches and cakes to full meals, Spent an enjoyable afternoon chatting with friends over lunch. The staff were polite and friendly and looked after us well.

We have eaten at this restaurant for a few years and it has always been really good. Unfortunately our last visit highligthed that the quality of the food and standard of service have really slipped recently. We ordered burgers and an egg mayo sandwich. The burger was OK but the menu did not explain that it was a beef and lamb burger. Fine if you like lamb, but the menu should have made this clear. The egg mayo was poor. The bread was dried out and was the cheapest loaf money can buy. When you are charged £7 for a sandwich, you expect it to be something special and fresh ! The sandwich was replaced but there was no apology or explanation. The restaurant was busy and we waited 40 minutes to be served which suggests that a few more staff would not go amiss. Its a shame as the standard of food and service on previous visits has been very high and the actual building and setting are lovely. Hope the owner reads this and brings the standards back up.

Pulled in here on a very wet Saturday night. We weren't sure whether evening meals were served or not. Went in at 5.15pm to enquire and to ask if we needed to book, We were told that they started service of evening meals at 5.30pm but we were welcome to come in for a drink while we waited. With our drinks the very helpful waitress brought the menu. We were spoiled for choice and it was just as well we had plenty of time to choose. The food came very promptly and was beautifully cooked and very tasty. The outlook over the loch, even though it was pouring with rain, was beautiful and I look forward to visiting again on a warm, dry summer evening.

As a couple we visited the Waterfront at Coyle during the lunch period. We have visited several times before, and the food is actually quite good. But, oh dear!! When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly full, with about 65% of tables waiting for their food order. While the initial order taking and drink service is adequate, the long wait for your food is not. We waited 30 minutes for our food, the table next to us waited 45 minutes. No explanation from the waiter/waitress, and the only comment we received when we complained was "We're busy"?? The majority of the food is light bites/paninis, with soup/battered fish, and burgers, so nothing complicated to cook! In fact, one table waited over 20 minutes for soup? The location is superb, especially if you get a window seat overlooking the trout lake, but if you are pushed for time - forget the Waterfront, and eat elsewhere!!

We went to the Waterfront for a late Sunday lunch. This was our first visit and, having read the reviews, I'd warned everyone that the service might be slow. However, the place was jam-packed but we got our drinks within 5 minutes and our food within 15. The food was excellent, especially their own smoked products some of which we bought to take away. The Waterfront might appear at first sight to be a bit of an oddity attached, as it is, to a Fishing Loch. But I can highly recommend the food. Only doesn't get 5 stars because, as a coffee geek, I didn't feel the coffee was particularly good.

We've had a couple of pleasant light lunches here and went back in on Sunday. It was busy so we ordered a soup/sandwich combo to avoid a long wait. Mistake. 4 tables or ten people who came in after us were served before us and they ordered main meals. W asked the owner if there was a problem and she went into denial, and offering no excuse or apology for our 45 minute wait. To add insult to injury, we overheard her discussing table 3 (us) with a waitress. Some advice would be to apologise to customers when you get it wrong and don't talk about customers who can hear what you're saying. The food is fine and other staff are actually friendly and helpful. The owner should follow their example.

Usually eat here and never had an issue. Today we called and waiting 15 minutes and not served. Approached the counter and older lady said it was table service and take a seat. (We knew this but had waited). Sat back down and waited nearly another 15 minutes and nobody took our order. We were walked past several times by staff and ignored. Left and went elsewhere. Really disappointed at being made to feel so embarrassed after others noticed clearly and those arriving after us were served. Will sadly not return as left to feel like we were deliberately being ignored. Completely embarrassing experience.

We live between Deeside and Dorset and rarely in Ayrshire but down for wedding and decided to go to Scott’s as knew the owners through business over 20 years ago when they just had a couple of places & heard a lot about their massive success . Honestly , we couldn’t fault it and … we eat out a lot . From a genuinely lovely welcome from Beth to excellent service from all the staff ( Isabelle was particularly charming & efficient ) - wonderful choice of menu , terrific cuisine and good value for money …. With a charming view . Some people look to find fault wherever they go but , we genuinely found Scott’s faultless ( inc toilets , decor etc etc ) . Absolutely SUPERB - 10/10- well be back and Soon 🥂

What a wonderful shop and cafe the hub of the local community. The manger Alex and Young worker Becca are fabulous such excellent customer service. I'm currently walking the entire UK coast path solo for the RNLI with my Big agnes tent Aggie since July 4th over 7,600 walked and I am staying at a campsite nearby yo rest a sore ankle. Wow I arrived and was treated like a local welcomed in offered coffee and cake. The atmosphere was heartwarming everyone happy picking up provisions hot food or stopping by for a chat. A lost dog was found and kept amd cuddled by a staff member till the happy owner arrived to claim his doggy ❤️ fully recommend this wonderful place. Thank yoy manager Alex 5 star .
