A banging pub with great atmosphere and cosy real fire vibes. Priced fairly but great food and service ( the manageress was particularly helpful and charming ) I’ll be back and bringing my friends!

Formerly a great spot— sadly they now don’t even take walk-ins for just a pint on a Sunday (even though there were no reserved signs, still turned away!)

My favourite spot in the area. Service is always 5 star and the ambience makes you want to stay for another drink!

Best pub around always a good beer selection the food is really great the service really friendly and they have screen for some sport event! Can’t recommend enough.

I go to the pub 3-4 times a week while my son is engaged in an activity nearby, and I use the hour to work. I always try to order something, and my husband usually orders a drink as well. Today, I wasn’t feeling well, so I didn’t order anything, but my husband did. We were there for about an hour when the manager came over and, quite rudely, told us we had to order more drinks to keep the table. Despite my husband having ordered, they insisted we either order more or leave. After 10 minutes, another staff member approached with the same message, saying, “You need to order or leave. That’s what my manager said.” I decided to speak with the manager directly, and she said, “This is a business. I need to make money.” I responded by asking her not to speak to me so disrespectfully. She then told me to “watch my tone,” with a scary and angry face and when I mentioned her rudeness, she asked us to leave. I ultimately left telling her that she was rude. I’ve been a regular customer here for the past month, visiting 3 times a week and often ordering food or drinks. It’s disappointing to be treated this way, especially as a loyal customer. I hope this feedback reaches someone who can address this issue.

Very tasty food! Was a little hard to catch the waiters’ attention but in such a lovely atmosphere it matters a lot less! Definitely will be back.

The whole experience was brilliant. I’m currently working nearby and thought I’d look for somewhere to eat by myself for the evening. The food was incredible, probably the best shepherds pie I’ve ever had. The service was really lovely, friendly and happy to help. Especially the waitress who served me; Lavanya. The place was really busy and the music they played was absolutely superb, brilliant playlist with an eclectic range of genres. Definitely will be back 👍🏻

We were there twice during our stay in London. Just great. Delicious food, super nice staff, great interior design, clean toilets. The fireplace is particularly beautiful and adds to the overall flair. We loved it.

This pub is an absolute gem, with beautiful historical features and an inviting atmosphere. The food is consistently very good, and I’m particularly picky about pub staples like fish and chips and burgers—they always get these right! The only minor miss we’ve ever had was with the duck salad, but otherwise, the food better than average pub level! The staff here are exceptionally friendly and attentive, and I have to share a standout example of their service: one evening, I accidentally left my phone behind, and Jonny not only noticed but actually ran out and tracked us down on a parallel street to return it. I was really impressed by how personal and dedicated his service was. This pub leaves us feeling happy and grateful to the whole team. We are always looking forward to our time there!

We had our engagement party on 12th October 2024 at Martha's Bar in the Washington. We just want to say thanks to all the staff, especially Lewis and Fabian who ran the bar and dished up the plentiful food. I really recommend Martha's bar for a private party and the Washington Pub generally, one of the best in London I would say. Charlie & Mercy

It’s a pleasant pub in the Belsize Park area. We went primarily for classic pub food. Fish & chips (haddock) as well as scotch egg were flawless. Peroni beer is available.

Have come here several times now and look forward to coming even more as we're moving nearby. The food and service are always amazing and they are SUPER dog friendly which we love as we have 2 that are always welcome. It's an all-around lovely & beautiful pub!

Wonderful welcome, great atmosphere and good beer

Portions for TooGoodToGo / TGTG were too small for £6+. Two small boxes with little meat and veggie sides. Food was fine and enjoyed eating it, though and atmosphere inside is nice. Pretty location.

A bit of a troubled starting due to a confusion with the table, even that we did a reservation. However, everything was forgiven thanks to the absolutely wonderful service, atmosphere and food. Heads up to Sam, who was tireless, extremely helpful and caring!!

Nice pub, spacious, good service. Little pricey. Good food, but salt put on my fish and chips when served, so if you don't like salt mention it. Spoiled it for me.

pet friendly, wonderful design. lrather ree cushion lounge, lush exortic house plants, colored painted glass panels, the wooden bar in the middle of the high ceiling room is a rare find. the lighting in newly extended area at the back is a bit bright otherwise it is a very beautiful pub.

We were served by Lewis, an exceptional and efficient host who looks exactly like Cillian Murphy so that was a conversation piece in itself. We came on steak night (Wednesday) and had pretty much the best ribeyes (done medium) we’ve had anywhere in London. Mind-blowing and paired with the beef-dripping sauce elevated to Heaven level. They threw in a free bottle of wine and the rest was history. No compliments are enough for the ambience, service and quality of The Washington. Woohooo! 🍷🥩🫡

What a night!!!!! We had a super tasty ribeye steak and whitout any exaggeration, one of the best we had here around. But what made a significant difference, was Lewis, our awesome waiter. He gave us the best recommendation and he was very attentive, polite and professional. And the vibe… just amazing!!! We had a very beautiful experience and we will be back very often. Thank you !! Beautiful pub, love the central bar. Was very busy for Sunday Roast but service was quick (around 30minutes for food) and the food was amazing. Well worth it.

Went for a Sunday roast, food slightly small and overcooked. But generally, a good meal. The staff were friendly, just took awhile for drinks to arrive after being ordered despite it being relatively quiet. Great vibe to the place, would happily go back.

The grilled goat cheese salad was amazing.

Generally did not find the place very clean. Dirty glasses and cutlery given out. Dirty jug with water. Menus given out had food on them. Bit off putting. No one seems to be bothered by hygiene or wiping things clean-tables also. Went for a late lunch and it wasn't fresh. Looked reheated. Comfortable place for a drink though. Wouldn't eat there again but happy to catch up for a drink. Cosy friendly pub

My absolute favourite pub in London! Warm atmosphere, gorgeous building, delicious food and a great selection of drinks. To top it off, the staff (especially Maeva) is super friendly and will do anything to help you.

Superb local pub. We went this weekend with friends and our kids. Dinner and drinks. Normally we come for just drinks and the guys enjoy the beer selection and I go through some Prosecco. Great ambience, friendly staff, clean toilets and it looks great after the recent refurb

We hired out Martha's Bar at the back for a birthday party; and it couldn't have been a more enjoyable night, in no small part to the wonderful staff and venue. The space was incredible, with places for everyone to split off and chat and complete privacy for our group; the bar staff were incredibly sweet and attentive; and the food was absolutely excellent. Could not recommend the place higher

This is a neighbourhood local pub with a very, historic feel, beautiful interior, gluten free beer on tap, superb service and excellent food. For a light nibble there is a selection of tapas and for a proper dinner the options of main courses will not disappoint! I tend to always get my favourite roasted fish, white beans and chorizo, but the menu does change over time. Reservations for dinner tables can be recommended because sometimes the tables fill up quite quickly. Service is friendly and efficient. The place is well run.

Beautiful authentic pub with a great athmosphere! My mate and I were staying in Swiss Cottage and happened to end up in this pub, located in a lovely neighbourhood. The next evening we also watched the European Cup final here and met the owner and her partner, great people! 100% highly recommended to drop by if you are in the area :) we will definitely do so next time we are in London!

I have been going to this pub for over 10 years & i have always found Antonia to be very hard working, friendly, vibrant & always put herself out to help everyone, despite how busy she is. I have never come across a landlady who makes people feel so welcoming & important as Antonia does. I always enjoy watching Wimbledon at The Washington, but the atmosphere was absolutely electric, watching England reach the Final & am proud to say that this pub is by far, the best bar in London, because of the Champion Landlady you have running it. I definitely will be going there as much as i can.

We have been here plenty of times and each visit is better than the last. The food, the service and the whole atmosphere is so special. Steven in particular always welcomes us so warmly and makes each visit so memorable. We will be back again and again.

Beautiful interior matched by friendly first class service. They accommodated our walking in on a Saturday night without a table booking and found room for us cheerfully. Great food, better than the usual pub menu. Love that dogs are made welcome, being provided with their own water bowl.

Best of the Best! This fabulous English pub in the Primrose area was the epitome of what one would imagine an awesome pub could be. The food, the brew, the ambiance and the history instantly captivated us, so much so that we went twice in the same day, lunch and dinner. No doubt that the genuine friendliness, professionalism and caring service of the staff was another big reason why. Lewis, Lidia and Maeva, thank you for making our first day in London so magical. Good Sunday Roast, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service.

Service was great, drinks were good (slightly overpriced but I suppose Hampstead prices) and food was also good and served on time. It’s a really great place to celebrate— also air conditioned to help with the summer heat.

My favorite pub in London, hands down. Three times in London, always make a point to stop by here. Beautiful aesthetics, clean bathrooms, good food & drink, friendly staff, and fun trivia nights.

Martha's bar at the Washington is a true hidden gem that recently underwent a stunning remodel. The new look is absolutely fantastic! The ambiance is modern and chic, creating a sophisticated and trendy atmosphere. The attention to detail in the remodel is evident, from the stylish furniture to the tasteful lighting. The staff remains as friendly and welcoming as ever and the drink selection is still top-notch, with an impressive array of cocktails, beers, and wines to choose from.

Just went into this pub for a drink at 10pm on a Saturday night and it's full of prams and babies strolling around with mums. Like is no where sacred 😐

Space in basement was perfect staff very attentive to anything we needed particularly Steven and Louis who were around on the day, and Antonia who we liaised with.

Decidedly mediocre. The food was not very nice, the kind of menu that comes from a food service provider’s pre prepared dishes. I had a steak and chips. The steak was fine, but tasted of burnt grill and wasn’t salted. The chips were awful, just mush. The mayonnaise was inedible. The peppercorn sauce straight out of a plastic tub. Literally barely above the minimum standard for any restaurant, let alone one that holds itself out as a destination for Sunday lunches. They were sadly out of Landlord, so I had a Guinness, which was so freezing cold it was ruined for the first 10 minutes. I really don’t get it, how hard is decent food and beer? There was a table of French people next to us and I felt ashamed that they’d been subjected to this British “restaurant”.
