Service is as good as the food!!! I came in here absolutely starving and a was greeted by one of the servers called Vincent. He took me aside and explained the whole menu to me and helped me pick out what to eat. He looked after me and my partner the whole evening and the service was perfect. U need to get down here. Really enjoyed my night

Here for lunch on St Patrick’s day, the pub is beautiful, food was terrific and Lewis who served us was very attentive, handling the bar and seated tables whilst seemingly working solo. Very impressed.

Always my go to when I’m in the area. Well kept keg and cask beer, friendly and helpful staff, great scotch eggs too! Enjoyed the 6 nations again too!

The best Sunday roast I’ve had in a while! If you are in London, this is a must-visit. The Christmas decorations are spotless, and their speakeasy bar is incredible to see.

Food was ok but mains took 45mins to arrive and desserts another 30mins. Also, the burger from the kids menu is micro... felt a bit like a rip off.

Went here to meet friends. Waiting at the bar. 1 person served. 2 waiting. Young bartender says "who's next" and then approaches the people who just arrived. I said, "excuse me Im next". This sort of thing is painfully regular and I rolled my eyes. All of a sudden I'm being chastised by a woman behind the bar aggressively telling me "we'll get to you when we're ready so dont raise your eyes" Told her I'll take my money elsewhere because no, thats not how service works. I've been in hospitality 20 years. If you do a rubbish job people will be disappointed and you dont get to tell them what to do with their faces. Funnily enough, as I write this at much more welcoming bar up the street the bartender here finds it as funny as I did.

ich habe 2019 hier mit meinen Freunden meinen 50er gefeiert, alle sind dafür extra aus Österreich angereist. Das war ein unvergesslicher, toller Abend, wir haben drn extra Raum dafür gemietet . Tolles Service und gutes Essen. Ich komme seit Jahren immer hier her wenn ich in London bin.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon - [a friends invite for a standup comedy show hosted in this venue] The place was abuzz with elegant crowd. The staff and service was friendly, helpful & courteous . Behind a classy bookshelf was the way down to the event ! A cute and classy surprise. Thoroughly enjoyed the place & its vibes !

We arrived early, and although there were a lot of tables free we were told there was at least a 45 min wait on mains. We ordered a simple Sunday roast sharer platter for 2. When it arrived it was missing items, the meat was over done, and some of the veg under done.. The only redeeming factor was the lady who served our table who was very good and very apologetic

Haven't been for a while, the pubs had a remodel and looks amazing! Steven was a top laugh at the bar and pours a good Guinness!

Decent drinks but really expensive and bad service. Went on a Sunday and got charged about 40 quid per person with a wait time of 40 minutes. That's not great. The waitresses forgot items which is unacceptable. The food itself was mediocre verging on bad. Great location but this place is not good enough at all.

"I wish I could give this place zero stars. My visit to the Washington in Belsize Park was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience of my life. The food was stone cold when it finally arrived—after an unbearably long wait. When I politely brought this to the attention of the staff, I was met with rudeness and indifference. To make matters worse, the meal left me severely ill with food poisoning, ruining not just my evening but several days afterward. The lack of basic hygiene and customer service is appalling. How this place is still in business is beyond me. Save your time, money, and health—avoid this place like the plague."

I have been to The Washington a few times on trips to London. Its a great place to eat, the food is great, menu has a lot of choice to cater for all. The actual lounge / bar is autentically English, cosy and welcoming. The bar staff, especially Adam were very friendly and chatty. I will pop in again on my next visit.

It is with profound disappointment that I must express my grievances regarding the rapidly deteriorating standards of service at this establishment. My wife and I were once loyal patrons, frequenting this venue on a near-daily basis and participating in quiz nights, where we consistently supported the business by tipping generously and ordering both food and beverages. However, the recent conduct of certain staff members has rendered our experience utterly unacceptable. While the male staff are generally amicable and professional, the conduct of a specific female bartender—an older woman with short blonde hair—was nothing short of appalling. Her hostile and abrasive demeanor, coupled with a condescending attitude, was entirely unwarranted and inexcusable. Such unprofessionalism not only disregards the value of loyal clients but also creates an unwelcoming environment. Her palpable negativity made it abundantly clear that our presence was neither valued nor appreciated, which is wholly antithetical to the ethos of good customer service. Furthermore, this establishment’s refusal to accept cash payments is both deeply concerning and, arguably, a violation of the law. In the United Kingdom, cash is considered legal tender under the Coinage Act 1971. While businesses retain discretion regarding payment methods under certain circumstances, outright refusal to accept cash without reasonable grounds, particularly within a legal tenancy agreement, raises significant questions of legality. This arbitrary policy disenfranchises customers and undermines the principle of fair access to services. In light of these issues, we regret to state that we will no longer be patronizing this venue. We strongly urge the management to address these glaring deficiencies, as the current trajectory risks alienating a once-loyal customer base. To potential visitors, consider yourself forewarned.

Beautiful pub, great staff. Slight hiccups with food (sea bass a bit dry) and cold coffees but the latter handled very well. The most beautiful Xmas tree you’ll see in a London pub. .

This pub demonstrated excellence down to every detail. Great pub fare perfectly cooked. The staff is professional, welcoming, and attentive. The atmosphere is superb. If you want to learn how to run a restaurant, visit this place.

The Washington truly is such a delight, whether we’re stopping by for a cheeky drink, a good meal, or just a cozy place to unwind. We’re so lucky to have it as our go-to pub! The food is consistently excellent, and we always look forward to their updated seasonal menus. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming—Lewis, in particular, always goes above and beyond to make our visits enjoyable. One of our favorite things about The Wash is how dog-friendly it is. We’re huge dog lovers, and it’s such a joy to see pups happily lounging alongside their owners (and get in some good pets) while everyone enjoys the warm and inviting atmosphere. If you’re in Belsize Park, this pub is an absolute must-visit!

We’re so lucky to call The Washington our neighborhood pub! When we moved to Belsize Park back in March and were waiting for our furniture and kitchen essentials to arrive from overseas, The Wash quickly became our home away from home. This gorgeous pub (especially gorgeous now with Christmas decor!) offers so much more than just a great atmosphere—it’s a true gem of the neighborhood. The food is consistently delicious, with a menu that balances classic pub favorites and creative dishes; there’s always something to look forward to. The staff are absolutely lovely. A special shoutout to Nia, who has become our favorite server. She goes above and beyond and we always enjoy catching up with her.

I have not been offended at any pub or restaurant in London yet. However last night I went for a quick drink at what will be my new local when I move to Camden. Unfortunately The Washington will not be my local. After being approached by a female and asked if I am alone and if I would like to go to her Hotel room, to which I graciously declined as I have a girlfriend and I am just not like that... I was told by a female (Afro-Carribean one) that I am not to speak to any female in the bar or approach anybody at the private birthday... of which birthday boy approached me to chat... She did not explain why or as to what the complaint about me was. I guess someone did not like being told "NO!" I am still baffled and it ruined my night and the following day (today). She was rude and offensive. There was no security staff, I brought in numerous glasses situated dangerously outside and there was NO clear indication of a private party. A very unprofessionally led staff... most of whom are lovely. But this particular staff member made me feel uncomfortable and very offended. I will not be gracing this place again. They have lost a LOT of money from myself and my friends locally. If I could Zero Star this place I would. And the Peroni is vile.
