Decent beer on offer and had screens for sport, but full of office parties and seemed understaffed

Not my local neighbourhood and caveat it was Saturday night so usually means a different not local crowd. Has live music but found it a bit edgy. People dropping bottles smashing to pieces and not bothering to get it cleaned up. An indifferent crowd. Was good enough for a swifty though - sat outside - was full of smokers - I’m not one but was a balmy night and so pleasant enough. Seemed lot of people on shots at 7pm so I guess it’s a mash up place. Staff quick, friendly and efficient.

Sunday roast is excellent and Friday night band never disappoint. Staff are friendly and very approachable!

From birthday parties to casual nights out, Black Lion is the spot to indulge. Competitively priced drinks paired with fantastic food ties this establishment in a nice ribbon for me and for you. Couldn’t imagine a better bar to spend my time in London with some good friends with a consistently good atmosphere. Additionally, best portioned roasts I have ever seen in a pub.

Love this pub! Lovely atmosphere every time I go there. Whether it’s the Sunday evening pub quiz, or a weekday meal we always have a great time. It has become my local and the staff are a great time!

Pequeña vibra. Después del trabajo para unas pintas y disfrutamos del buen ambiente. Las pintas eran agradables y crujientes y el personal era más que agradable.

Entré a ver el fútbol de fin de semana - disfrutamos de unas pintas y nos sentamos en una cabina que tenía una gran iluminación y asientos súper cómodos! Lo recomendaría, espero volver pronto : )

On Friday the 15th of November I went to this bar after work with a group of people. Within 20 minutes of being there my bag was stolen whilst it was on a chair next to me with a bunch of my colleagues bags and jackets. Of course this is no fault of the staff however when I made them aware and asked if they could switch the lights on so I could look for it incase it was kicked out of place, bearing in mind it was dark and the bag was black… they refused!!!!! I then asked if they could check cctv, which took them atleast 3 hours to check and then came back and said they didn’t see anything! I am sure that cctv doesn’t work or else they would have surely seen something! Be extra vigilant, there’s thieves about in that pub and the staff don’t help!

First, I would like to express my gratitude to manager Jose for reaching out to me today after I forgot my bag and thank him for his assistance. The pub has good decor inside and amazing garden terrace outside to enjoy the view and the service was ten of ten. Highly recommend!

Came here for a birthday celebration on a Saturday. The food and atmosphere was amazing. Big shoutout to the band who had everyone dancing towards the end of the night 🗣️. Will definitely come back! P.S the malt wine is delicious

Food was terrible . Lamb overcooked , beef to tough to cut with a steak knife ! I hate kale as a replacement for spinach , never a good idea .

I used to frequent this pub years ago, It now looks incredible, The roof lantern (is that what they're called?) lets natural light in, there is loads of outdoor space front and rear.Its dark interior very chic .I was there on a lunchtime, sat inside and had Mediterranean vegetables on toasted sourdough- delicious- with a bottle of Corona, although an amazing selection of craft beers was available.The barman was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return, The live bands Friday and Saturday look like it would be a great night.Highly recommended.

They have a excellent bar, but guess what? They don’t make Whiskey Sour. A whisky sour cocktail!! I repeated couple of times to the bartender he refused to make it, -we don’t make a whiskey sour! Waoww! Thanks for the replying back to me The Black Lion Team. In my opinion, if a bar and its bartenders are of good quality, they should be able to make a whisky sour cocktail, which is one of the most common international cocktails. There are many common cocktails in bar history, which you can find on Google. Kind Regards

I used to visit the Black Lion years ago and it was a nice pub then. However it's changed a lot and feels quite cold now, the character it had has long gone. We sat at a table and after 5 minutes were asked to move (by staff) as it was reserved. It's probably a good idea to put a reserved sign on the table but they neglected to do this. The music playing was a bit monotonous but a band was getting ready to play so maybe they were good but we didn't stick around to find out. I won't return.

Food amazing, service from Lara incredible! Booked online at 3.20 for 3.45 booking, got there at 3.35 and a beautifully written tile with my name was already on the table. Bar staff very friendly too…. Highly recommend Nb - visited post refurb - amazing job by Callum and the team - love the new vibe. Come on Wednesdays for Rock-oke it’s amazing! Nb Ben was amazing thank you!!!

Taylor is a legend. Exceptional service from him to say the least… amidst a busy evening with a packed out beer garden he took the time to set our tables up and shift some around to seat me and my mates. Great chap; will be back and hopefully see the king again!

From the moment we walked in, Ben made us feel welcome with his warm and friendly demeanor. His knowledge of the menu and drink selection was spot on, and he was more than happy to recommend some fantastic options. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and Ben made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. It’s rare to find someone who strikes the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness, but Ben nailed it. Black Lion is now a favorite spot, and Ben’s hospitality has a lot to do with that. Highly recommend!

Quick visit with my son who will be attending Uni and staying nearby, food was great, Ben was really welcoming and drinks choice was tip top... have a feeling I'll be frequenting this place quite often during my visits for a bite to eat, drink or just to make in some of the live football.

Ok, so I’m visiting the UK for a week with my mom who’s never been here. She really wanted to have a traditional Sunday roast while she was here, so I booked a table, and put down £40 to reserve a table at 6:30. We arrived and sat down, looked at the menu, were hungry and excited to eat there. Place was fairly empty. The waiter comes up, and tells us that they were completely out of Sunday roasts. All of them. Not just the roast beef, but the pork, chicken and vegan as well. Super disappointed. My wife even suspected that it was because we were Americans, or because my mother is on the heavy side. Super pissed off, because we’re not going to be here for another Sunday. Also raining and not able to walk to another pub.

I had my birthday last Sunday at The Black Lion and I just wanted to say how incredible the team made my day. The area out in the garden was perfect for my party of 30 people and then we went inside for the evening for Rockeaoke which was stand out. Band were great and it was such a vibe! Ben and Taylor made it extra special and I just had such a wonderful birthday. Will definitely be back ! Food also delicious! Thank you all again

A pub with a great atmosphere and terasse but as the karaoke night came, the group started to play music and they just put the sound extremely loud, we're used to singing pub and loud music but we just couldn't stand in the pub because it was simply hurting our ears. Maybe just the band and bot the pub responsibility but it lasted enough time to make some people leave the pub

I love this pub! I go here 2 times a week at least. The staff are so lovely. José the manager runs a tight ship. Ben the manager is always so friendly, as well as a worker called Rob, who's not only VERY handsome but is always everywhere working: outside cleaning, quick to serve, and checking in on customers on tables. My only negative is, I wish the food was more affordable, but they have the only beer garden in the area, so its worth it! EVERY WEDNESDAY they do Rockeoke which is so fun and the musicians are top notch! Highly recommend!

The black lion is one of the best pubs in west hampstead. The atmosphere is energetic in the evening and very pleasant during the day. The staff, specifically Rob, Ben and Jose always cater to you every need. It’s a must go if you’re ever in the area.

Called in with a friend for a couple of drinks mid week. Decent atmosphere but mixed feedback on staff. The lads were pleasant and efficient. However the woman (who I think was floor manager) was rude on multiple occasions separately to both of us for no particular reason. Not sure what was going on, but if I saw her working again I would actively avoid the place. I have reviewed many pubs in the area and this was the worst service by a mile. Such a shame

The black lion is one of my favourite pubs in west Hampstead, I always have a great time when I walk through the doors. The staff are so welcoming and always happy to help. Great food and drinks, plus live music.

Beautiful garden, great in the sunshine. Chefs were excellent, the food arrived timely and was up to standard. Barstaff we're a few deep at the bar so service was as expected but they handled it well and the lads especially Robert were friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend this venue and will be back again whenever I'm in the area.

Sold drinks 15 minutes before the advertised closing time then rudely told by a very agressive bouncer to leave 5 minutes later without being allowed to drink them. Change your opening hours if you don't want customers to be in your venue before the advertised closing time, and what happened to the 30 minutes drinking up period, stated on your licence??. Terrible attitude to customer service.

Had the best experience at The Black Lion West Hampstead. Amazing atmosphere and what a lovely staff ! Grab a seat in the back garden on a sunny day or enjoy the live music every Friday & Saturday. They host Rockeoke on Wednesdays with a live band if you fancy singing for an audience and don’t forget to bring your mates for the Sunday Quiz. If you are into sports etc they are also showing all games. Great selection of wines and beers and wonderful cocktails. On top of that they now have a new menu and wow wow wow, can’t recomend enough. The chefs really know what they’re doing + good vegan options. Do not miss out on this place !!!

I have the dusk app, I brought my son on vacation, we enjoyed it the day before and the next day they didn't give a drink, it's been 20 days, I went again because I live in front of aonoub on top of Nando's restaurant We were embarrassed two, why doesn't the pub leave the app? And the only pub that does this kind of. Embarrassment This is not correct, you need to review the applications you want to be part of

I come to this pub several times a week. 15 days ago I was there and presented the Dusk voucher and they wouldn't accept it. Today I tried to use the voucher again and it wasn't authorized. The manager said that he is no longer part of that platform and can no longer offer drinks. I was very embarrassed.

Ordered a veggie burger and made sure with the server three times it was a veggie burger. Burger arrived and it was beef. If they can’t get this right then imagine if someone comes in with an allergen.

If your looking for a local gem then look no further. Great place to go with friends or a date to enjoy live music, but if a sing song and dance. If it gets to loud you have a nice seating area out the front, would recommend getting there abit earlier if you want a seat or don't want to battle to get to the bar.

First time in The Black Lion but was it a real treat. It's been seriously refurbished in recent years with a strong food repositioning and wow was the food good! You can tell this clearly by the before and after pictures below!!! We had potato skewers which sounded quirky but were stunning, the Croque Monsieur which was amazing and the Scotch egg - again stunning. Service friendly and prompt, good variety of wines and ales and a very large and south facing beer garden tick most of the boxes you could need. They also allow dogs too. I was a fan of the decor generally but the dark paint scheme wasn't really to my liking. On various days they have Rock-aoke (karaoke with a live band) which sounds fun and worth coming back for. Overall I was a big fan of the Black Lion and will definitely be back.
