This place is 2 mins walk from Westminster Abbey and it's fabulous. My fussy husband had a full breakfast for lunch and gave it a 9 out of 10. My daughter and I had a panini with cheese and ham and son had a jacket potato. The food was simple but very tasty and it was a bargain! Not London prices and big portions. The people were lovely and it felt good to be in a calm environment. Sunny day, so the back doors were open giving a really nice feeling. Thanks for giving us some chill time in your lovely space

We held our conference at the Abbey Centre and used the Wash House Cafe to cater for our staff and guests. The food was great (especially the brownies) and the staff were very friendly and well organised. I would definitely recommend using this venue for any events or even just popping in to visit the cafe.

Hidden gem is right. Don’t let the appearance fool you is also right. You enter and you are in a community center at the end of the hall is a cafeteria style of sorts. We just wanted an American/English style breakfast. We arrived about 5 mins past but this style breakfast is served all day and for the rest of us, avoid toast for me while the kids enjoyed 3 cheese paninis and fries/wedges. Excellent food and service and prices! Free WiFi and bathrooms are right here, then next and most important to me. No crowds!

Eleven quid for a full English Breakfast + tea is bad enough. But do you have to cover half the plate with bread and make the remaining portions miniscule.

Don’t be fooled by the appearance. There was a diverse menu of options, a friendly staff, and you can clearly see everything is made in house. Plenty of food comes along with your order, and it’s all quite tasty. Be prepared to add some more salt (it was a bit lacking), but it was still flavorful.

Hidden gem near Westminster Abbey. Went in for a pick me up snack and to our delight had a delicious chocolate croissant and cappuccino. Bathrooms in the basement were clean and orderly.

My colleague and I have been coming to the Wash House Cafe for nearly four years now, and it has never disappointed us. The food - all freshly made and cooked by the wonderful Gena - is delicious. Linda is unfailingly cheerful and is always up for a good laugh and chat. It's a wonderful place. Long may it continue to operate.

This is not luxury eating, but the money raised is for local good causes. Good for an informal lunch with friends or colleagues. It is like a school canteen with a small drink and sandwich refrigerator and a large serving hatch where you order hot meals (choice of two), jacket potatoes or toasted paninis (chips are optional extras!). You order and pay at the serving hatch and find a seat / table. Meals are then brought out with the server calling your receipt / order number. I had lamb stew with roasted vegetables served on basmati rice with a small side salad (approx. £7) plus a mug of coffee. A reasonable hot meal at a reasonable price.

Happened upon The Wash House Cafe purely by chance after watching RAF100 flypast... a hidden gem and perfect stop for a light lunch - sandwiches & paninis were tasty... didn't try hot meals but various choices on offer... light and airy, peaceful and pleasant.. just what we needed after being in crowds of thousands! A lucky find & just makes for quite an unusual setting knowing you're on the site of the old wash baths!

Great cafe, a couple of minutes from Westminster Abbey, just beyond the Cinnamon Club. Bright, spacious and with a very decent range of homemade food from soup, sandwiches and jacket potatoes to main meals. Very informal as it’s part of a community centre. The serving team are so very kind and welcoming that you feel completely at home. I had coffee at 11.30am and by 12.15 it was startibg to get busy. Only one thing to note - the toilets are downstairs and the lift wasnworking when I was there.

This nice, but hard to find, cafe is just around the corner from Westminster Abbey in Great Smith Street, next door to the Westminster Library. It is part of the local community group in the Abbey Centre. Enter via a tiny doorway and find your way along a narrow corridor and suddenly it opens up to a large and bright cafe area. They sell teas and coffees, sandwiches and light lunches, cakes and snacks. This is a convenient place for a drink and light meal when visiting the tourist areas of Westminster Abbey, Deans yard and the Housers of Parliament, and eating here is probably considerably cheaper than some of the tourist cafes and restaurants in the Parliament Square area. It does get quite full and busy around lunchtime as workers use it for their lunch break.

This place has a great feeling, much more simple and appealing than so many of the cafes and restaurants in central London. There's a nice sense of community and unfussiness. The food is tasty, good quality and great value, in a historic building, I loved it!

I called in here with two colleagues for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch. The atmosphere is buzzing and although slightly utilitarian it is comfy and clean. I was impressed by the friendly staff. The food was not haute cuisine but it was good simple and well cooked. For Westminster it is amazingly cheap! I had lasagne which was moist and tasty and a cake which was lovely. The coffee was slightly bitter. I will certainly call here again and would recommend it to you for a basic, no frills but very acceptable cheap lunch

We came here while staying near Westminster and waiting for Tate Britain to open. Service was friendly and the place clean with a TV showing the news. Unfortunately they only had sausage or bacon butties for breakfast choice. Perhaps a wider breakfast menu would make it more attractive?

We didn't need anything fancy for lunch just some good wholesome food in a warm and relaxing environment was all we needed. Prior to visiting Westminster Abbey I had read up online about The Wash House Cafe that it had a cafe, it was good for Mothers with small children looking for a quiet place to meet up with others, to feed their babies, and they recommended it as a hidden secret in London, sounded good to me too. The Wash House Cafe is run by the Westminster Abbey conference and community centre, it was very welcoming and friendly. The cafe offers hot meals of the day, light meals and salads, sandwiches, homemade cake, tea, coffee and other drinks. There seemed to be mostly office workers here, a few elderly pensioners and some clergy, a very quiet group of people. The cafe was just what we needed, a toilet stop, a place to warm up from the freezing cold weather outside and tasty homemade food.

Last evening we went as a group friends 9 in total to the restaurant. The quality and the quantity of food was poor. When we complained to one of the member of stuff, asking to see the manager or chef, no one came to us to explain or apologise! Definitely Won't go back ever again. ☹
