The service was far too slow, which spoilt our visit to Sherborne Castle & Gardens. There is a lot to do and see in the home and very large gardens and a cuppa is really needed, but it shouldn't take over an hour! The castle needs to get themselves a separate tearoom.

Service was terrible! Waited a long time for food to come out , when it did .. it didn't come out all together I was left waiting for my food while my party was eating. When I asked about my order ,rude response from staff . Over priced also ( understand they need to make money ) however 12 pounds for a panni and a handful of salad not the best to be honest. I would recommend bringing packed lunch ,if you were having a day out at the castle.

It really has the typical English atmosphere.

Nice scenic cafe within a garden centre, prices a little steep but food was ok for what you would expect, staff were very attentive

Very long wait for a latte and hot chocolate. When they did arrive we got told short staffed hence long wait. Drinks were cold and unpleasant. Ants running all over the floor and walls and along table. For a food environment it is unacceptable and if short staffed maybe close an area of tables if staff can't cope.

Lovely lunch but so busy the staff overlooked us a couple of times. Not their fault as it was clear they were rushed off their feet and they were most apologetic

Staff were lovely and the food options were great! The vegan brekkie was fab! We are in the conservatory as it was too hot outside without my shade but I’d definitely come back. The food was great and the garden centre has lots of lovely stuff too!

Run by the national trust ,nice cafe and beautiful gardens . The village of Montacute is well worth a walk around

Stopped off for cold drinks and cake, after a very long ,warm walk around Sherborne Castle gardens 😀 lovely choice of cakes, we had the walnut and coffee and carrot cake 😋 lovely staff who made time to chat Various seating areas but we chose outside in the courtyard garden, in the shade, perfect 👌

This was a lovely place to visit after going around the gardens of Sherborne Castle, there is also a garden centre here, the food we had was very fresh and tasty

Very pleasant cafe in the garden centre. A choice of inside and outside seating. We had some nice sandwiches for a late lunch and coffee etc. It wasn't too busy when we went, in the laye afternoon. Staff were friendly and service good.

Huge garden centre selling everything possible for garden, pond, pet etc. loads of gift ideas, try the cafe for good food, if you have visited the Castle, 5% discount.

Fantastic plants that look healthy and vibrant. Helpfully staff and amazing range of plant, pots, and gifts everything quilty at a fair price which is what you need. The coffee and cake was amazing too

A lovely brunch on a very warm day. There isn’t much shade here and the inside areas are conservatories so very warm still.

Staying locally for a week, we went to the cafe here for lunch and a fruit scone. Scones are absolutely excellent (and I am an afficionado), so have been back for coffee and scones a further three times, before we head off for the day. The garden centre is top quality too. I've bought three scented pelargoniums, which are not easy to find. Also a wide range of bedding, shrubs etc, all looking in good condition.

Excellent food - we each had a sandwich - but what delicious sandwiches they were! Only downside was that when we arrived there were a lot of empty tables that needed clearing and cleaning. The glass roof could do with a sunscreen/blind as it became very warm indeed! But five stars for the food and friendly, helpful serving staff.

The walled garden is the café/tearooms of the Castle Gardens garden centre. Indoor and outside tables, lovely cakes!

Very nice cafe. Smallish in winter but at least it is open, and so deserves our custom. In summer they is much more space but the welcome, quality and value are just as good. Top spot.

Food was OK, yet not worth the price. The menu was limited as was the availability when we went. Ordering was not good and the man did not seem to be enjoying his job. It was busy, yet quick service of our food, yet waited over 20 minutes for our hot drinks.

We arrived at 10:45 to be told we could not order any breakfast even though it is listed as available till 11am, the lady at the till was rude and abrupt. We ordered cake and a coffee which ended up in a 40 minute wait with the server coming over to inform us just before our order arrived that they no longer had any available. Lovely setting just a shame the staff were on occasion rude and clearly overwhelmed. Would not return.

The garden centre was great ,a lovely place to take the children this time of year.The food not so good lumpy mash and gravy best part of the meal were the sausages

Lovely day at the garden centre looking at the Christmas display which is amazing, had a sandwich at the café which was very good not too expensive.

We come here frequently. We love this garden centre. It is so relaxing. We also love the Christmas displays. This year is particularly good.

Today we had lunch in the walled garden.The service was good. The food was fine apart from the 'rustic chips' which were more like crisps and hard. The afternoon Cup of tea and cake was excellent. The staff Very ikind. A bit pricey.

Seems like a nice place... busy...currently waiting 50mins for sandwich.... Arrived after 55mins. Nice sandwich. Pleasant staff, However suggest some indication of wait time once it gets past a certain duration should be part of the operating procedures

Joli café situé dans l'enceinte de la jardinerie, idéal pour manger ou goûter sur le pouce après la visite du château de Sherborne voisin. Déjeuner très agréable sous la serre, vraiment cosy avec la pluie battante dehors. Comme souvent en Angleterre, on commande et on paie en caisse d'abord en donnant son numéro de table, puis on va s'asseoir et notre repas nous est apporté à table. Nourriture anglaise simple et qualitative : jacket potatoes, sandwiches moelleux, énoooooorme chooix de pâtisseries (scones, millionnaires, lemon drizzles... Le choix est cornélien !). A ne pas manquer ! Prix raisonnables.

Sat outside & waiter has to find the key to put your brolly up. Just stopped for drink & scone but wished we could have stayed for lunch. Plenty of seats inside and out.

It's very nice with the new orangery eating area which will be lovely especially in the winter months. Plenty of nice areas to sit outside and in the other spacious indoor area. Breakfast and lunch menu have a good selection of choice, I'd recommend for those times of day. Cake choice is very good and I'd highly recommend the shortbread, absolutely delicious! I'd recommend for breakfast and lunch!

Nice place in the garden centre but unfortunately late in the day so ran out of a lot of food / dessert options for the kids so had to venture into town

Visited today with our dog, who was very warmly welcomed by staff & given treats. Dogs are welcome both outside on the patio area & inside in one part of the cafe. Human coffee & apricot shortbread was delicious! Here is our dog with his "Puppaccino"!

Good variety of plants, garden furniture pots and gift ideas. Went to get hot chocolate with the grandchildren long wait. It was Christmas and the Christmas display is wonderful.

Lovley garden centre with lots of lovley plants and gifts. The staff are lovley, very helpful and friendly. We love the coffee shop. Lots of lovley cakes etc. Also a department for your pets. We'll worth a look.

The castle gardens are wonderful. Please be aware, there is a member of staff in the coffee room who is incredibly rude. I shan't return there, for the price with unprofessional staff. This is not a reflection on the place just the coffee room

had a lovley meal today and was served buy an outstanding members of staff she was kind cute and funny and very respectful help us with everything we needed food was served quickly and surprisingly good quality slightly over prised but over all a great experience and will be returning with friends and family once again thanks to our lovely waitress annie

Lovely Pot of tea and coffee. Unfortunately no savoury choice available although it was only 3pm . Had a flapjack which was very sweet and chewy and partner had a caramel slice , which he said was nice Perhaps a choice of nuts could be available for the savoury toothed people,😉. Lovely environment and pleasant staff.

Visited for Sunday lunch with teenage daughters. The Victorian conservatory is a beautiful place to have lunch especially on a sunny winters day. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. The Sunday lunch was delicious - crisp roast potatoes, far more vegetables than we could manage, good yorkshires and gravy and delicious leeks in cheese sauce. Good portion size . Will be back for cakes when January diet is over!!

A rather disappointing visit, very busy and a little chaotic. The soup was inedible (potato and horseradish?!) lukewarm with the unappealing texture of wallpaper paste. £15 for two bowls of mostly uneaten soup and a 2 bread rolls. No opportunity during our meal to flag the problem as staff totally flat out. No time to order something else due to the time constraints on our table (which to be fair we did know about upon being seated) Despite sharing our feedback as we were leaving very politely, the Staff were totally disinterested and to be frank couldn't have cared less. Unsurprisingly we won't be rushing back and would struggle to reccomend it, which is a shame as the actual garden centre and festive display was lovely.

Visited today my wife and daughter - spent almost £10 per sandwich. Waited half an hour until food arrived. Also waited a further 20 mins after food arrived, for a coffee and a can of coke. Asked for some mayonnaise when food turned up, had to go back and ask three more times before we eventually got some. The staff seemed rushed off their feet. Tables were not even close to full so dread to think what it would be like when actually busy. Not a sign of an apology at how long food/drinks were taking. Wasn’t only us as there was an elderly couple sat behind us who had ordered a slice of cake and a coffee and they had been waiting over half an hour for that as well. This is the second time in 3 year we have visitors. Had exactly the same experience last time as well. Unacceptable and terrible.

Yes food very nice yes lovely place to visit and sit but very over priced. Very slow service. And why the long long long walk though the garden shop to get there. Not interested in the garden centre. Came to see the castle which was beautiful, but this is the only place to get a drink or food . Why is there nothing in the castle grounds.

What a nice place ! It has real character, staff are polite and friendly, comfortable cafe, clean and tidy. Today had the feeling of an English garden in the late forties/early fifties with a lone propellor driven plane flying overhead.

First time back to The Walled Garden since before the pandemic. Based on yesterday's experience I would only give 3 stars but in the past it's been good, so I'm hoping they were having an off day. Service wasn't as good as 2 years ago, coffee was good but they had no choice of cakes! I was told that they were in the oven but it was still lunchtime, so lunches would be in the oven! The option was a small piece of coconut & jam sponge or a scone. The sponge was ok, obviously not freshly made & really disappointed not to have their coffee cake - which I'm hoping is as good as it used to be or we will find somewhere else to go.

The Walled Garden is a must visit location. With a great cafe and garden centre it should appeal to many visitors.

Good service but over priced food

Visited Tuesday after Easter for latish lunch. Sat in new 'greenhouse'. Ordering process was different to our last visit and not very clear. To be fair the place was busy and there didn't seem to be many staff on, but those that were, were going like the clappers. Had to wait quite a while for our drinks to arrive and even longer for the food, but when it did come, it was hot, well presented and delicious. I would recommend a visit but not if you are in a hurry and gentlemen, take a sun hat if you are like me and 'thinning' on top.🙂

Super lunch today of paninis, vegetarian cottage pie, caesar salad, beef casserole and cakes. All homemade and delicious (including the salad dressing 😉). Even the dogs were given homemade dog-biscuits. Thoroughly recommended!

Good coffee but overpriced mediocre panini. For some reason they feel the need to smother the side salad with salad cream, which looked and tasted awful.

Lovely tea and very friendly. Small tip - if serving scones and butter, please soften the butter first. Unspreadable and scones soon became a crumbly mess - although the flavour was lovely!

Great service on Christmas Eve..despite being busy. Went with family + grandchildren. Yummy cake, hot chocolate & coffee. The young manager (I think he's the manager) is always so helpful. Even stamping my little reward card when I rather rudely nipped in to ask before leaving! Thank you and Happy Christmas!

A flat white, a rocky road cake and a small glass of milk for a 2 year old child. £8.30! You do the math.
