Booked a room last minute. It was clean, tidy and the people running it were great fun! We had a really good meal (standard pub food and couldn't fault it!) and a few too many drinks as the atmosphere was really good!

Amazing little find whilst out in Dorchester, had a few drinks and stayed a while because really nice pub. The food looked great so will be back to try that in thr near future. A must visit

As a new dorchester local - 3 months....myself and my partner are trying to see which pub feels like home. We all need one of those - when speaking to some of the local people, they said I should try the sydney. I get that everyone needs a pub to go too but this one is for people who like to make deals under the table and share a toilet stall. We won't be back - its a shame as the staff made us feel welcomed and it's decorated lovely, perfect location - near town but just far enough away.

Visited on an invitation to a party. As a tourist from the US, this place made me feel at home! Owners were lovely people and the live entertainment was great!

Management very helpful and kind. I am having a great rest here. There is no noise upstairs at the room called PLAZA , I am here for 4 night stay and so grateful there is no aircon in the room. Window for fresh air. Bed is single and comfortable and cozy! On suite shower ,toilet ,basin perfect just what I need for my short stay.

Such a lovely atmosphere in here, the management and thier staff are very welcoming. Donna especially... i think she was born to be a landlady! I have enjoyed thursdays quizz nights, fridays meat draws, frequent karaoke and live bands. Great area for pool and darts, the garden is a hidden gem and the food is delicious! A great selection of alcaholic and non alcaholic drinks, and my son loves the hot chocolate! I cannot fault this place, the locals are lovely too, well done to the whole team 👏 😍

Called in here on the of chance .We took a neighbour to hospital which is just across the road.We had lunch which all 4 meals were cooked beautifully and reasonably priced.Excellent value for money. Service very good ,wish we were local.The landlady come out to see us who was the chef aswell .Very friendly helpful people .Thankyou Sydney arms

We had a great family gathering at The Sydney Arms. Nothing was too much trouble for Donna and her team. We’ve been using the Sydney Arms for many, many years, it’s certainly much improved. The food, drinks and atmosphere was great, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It’s great to have some entertainment too, something of a rarity in Dorchester in recent years. I would highly recommend The Sydney, it’s great to see how much it’s improved since it’s been taken over.

Amazing atmosphere, great service and lovely food. Was also very impressed with the non alcoholic drink selection? Being a non drinker it's nice to have and enjoy the atmosphere as if I was drinking . Love the karaoke always a laugh and good sing along. Hard to find fun pubs like this anymore very impressed recommend to anyone if you want a great night out. Also dog friendly which is a bonus 😊😊😊😊

Popped in for Sunday roast, haven't been in in ages, love the management, Donna and Simon are lovely and welcoming, Christina behind the bar doesn't stop working, what a machine, atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the roast was absolutely delightful, can't wait to come back

Beautiful venue with amazing new management that have recently taken over. The food was amazing and so was the service and bonus they're dog friendly. A proper pub atmosphere with dart board and pool table which can be hard to find nowadays, plus karaoke and live music. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're ever in the area

We had a lovely stay at the Sydney arms! The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere was great and the room was clean and well looked after. We enjoyed our comfy bed!!

Love this pub! After spending a weekend in Dorchester we came across this Gem! Simon & Donna couldn’t have been more welcoming! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the super reasonable drink prices! The whole team are great! We can’t wait to visit Dorchester again soon… simply to pop back into this pub! If you haven’t been I’d recommend checking it out :)

First visit to the Sydney Arms in many a year! Pleasantly greeted by the new landlord, Simon and served by his partner Donna! Perfectly served pint and in the correct glass! A pet hate of mine being served, for example a Stella in a Fosters glass! Great service, ideally situated for the Hospital

A bit disappointed. It's located next to a hospital so there were several ambulances going past which disturbed us during the night. It's on a main road so it was quite noisy throughout the day and night. They didn't serve food as the kitchen is being done up until October which was disappointing. The bathroom constantly smelled like urine and it was quite small with a very small shower. They did supply body wash and shampoo only downside it was men's body wash. The beds were comfy and the pillows were decent quality. We had a good night's sleep though both disturbed by the busy road several times. If you want a quick stay it's not the best but it will do the job.

Mark the barman was extremely helpful, provided water for our massive dog and also organised a taxi for the 3 of us.

Went for a couple of drinks nice pub just not my taste as bar staff wasn't all poilte as was first visit

The room me and my wife booked for two nights was not what we were expected,not clean and the furniture was very old. But the real problem is that second night we had no hot water and because downstairs is a pub and music played very loud we had no chance to fell asleep till the dj finished his job around 1AM. Awful place. I’ll never visit that house again and advise everyone to avoid it. Thank you Ps: the pub looks very nice Almost forgot: NO CAR PARK how they advertise. We’ve been advised to park in a public car park… (And NO it was not 12 o’clock when the music stop,it was past 1AM)

Booked 1 night at the hotel. First off there is NO parking although it clearly says there is parking on site. The pub it's self looked ok when you first go in, however the room was terrible. Mould on the walls and ceiling in the bathroom. The RV was hanging off the wall. The carpet looked as if someone had been rubbing in dirt. It was a £30 a night room not the £75 I paid. There was some kind of fight going on outside the pub at 1am which must of started inside the pub.

Nice place to go for two or three nights stay, an old property but clean and comfortable. No evening meals on a Monday or Tuesday but ok the rest of the week. The Landlord was welcoming and helpful. There are plenty of places to eat in and around Dorchester. We would go back and stay again.
