i find this place not friendly. they not let me in. last time i was with my friend for a party and they act like racist. the want only british people inside ….. very very horrible experience. shame for the onwer keep staff and management like this. hope the management change soon. no more racist management in 2025.

Walcot House never disappoints! From the moment you’re greeted, to the delicious food… breakfast, brunch, lunch, nibbles, dinner, drinks - whatever you’re there for, it’s all yummy! The vibe is always spot on. It’s one of our favourites.

Fui a almorzar para el Día de la Madre. El personal era muy acogedor desde el principio. La comida era deliciosa (especialmente la tarta de queso de chocolate) y el servicio era realmente genial. Me sentí mimada y cuidada. Recomiendo encarecidamente The Walcot, siempre he experimentado excelente comida y servicio!

Creo que este es un caso de The Emperors New Clothes - se ve elegante, ambiente encantador, pero en realidad poco más de precio de comida del pub. El queso se añadió en lugares que no deberían ser para que se sintiera / sepa más rico, pero en realidad era solo salado. Los lados son pequeños. Y todos tuvimos que comer más tarde, ya que las porciones eran muy pequeñas - pequeño no siempre significa calidad. No me malinterpretes la comida estaba bien, pero no vale la pena el precio y la pretensión. Yo estaba allí para celebrar un 60 cumpleaños y me preguntó si podía traer globos y me dijeron 'no, pero la noche se haría especial' ... nada y quiero decir nada se hizo especial. Creo que ni siquiera se hizo referencia al cumpleaños. El servicio estaba bien, pero no vale la pena el cargo del 12% por servicio. Hay tantos pubs realmente grandes en Bath con gran ambiente, que sirven buena comida y no pretenden que son algo que no son. Estoy muy decepcionado y definitivamente no volveré.

Fui a almorzar con otros tres para una tranquila celebración de gallinas. Me cuesta un poco con la ansiedad, así que pensamos que algo discreto encajaría bien. Mis amigos amablemente me compraron un pequeño lazo dulce con un pequeño velo unido a él - que era la única cosa “nupcial” entre nosotros. Usamos ropa normal y ciertamente no traíamos ninguna mercancía o accesorios inapropiados. Al llegar, la anfitriona me exigió muy groseramente que me quitara el velo, diciendo que tienen una “política de no inclinarse”. Fue tan hostil y abrupto, que todos estábamos en shock. Estaba absolutamente mortificado y estropeó completamente la experiencia. La comida era agradable a pesar de que se equivocaron un par de pedidos, pero estaba tan agotado por su comportamiento que no podía disfrutarlo plenamente. ¿Qué diablos es una política de no reverencia? Es un lugar perfectamente bonito pero lejos de ser “fantasía” y no hay código de vestimenta. Se admiten perros, pero no arcos. ¿Y los perros con arcos? Nunca he oído hablar de nada tan ridículo y no volvería o recomendaría este lugar a nadie que desee un servicio acogedor o amable. Innecesariamente esnob.

Uno de mis pocos restaurantes / bares favoritos en Bath. Siempre tenemos una gran comida / café / bebidas y servicio aquí. Ambiente encantador en el interior. Lugar elegante con un ambiente de moda.

La comida es generalmente sabrosa y muy bien presentada. El servicio es amable y elegante, pero las bebidas son bastante lentas en llegar. Sin embargo, la elección muy decepcionante para los vegetarianos, con el príncipe heredero de la calabaza haciendo una aparición tanto en el entrante y los platos principales como el ingrediente principal. Esto huele a pereza, para ser honesto. Pero el pan es GENIAL.

Beautiful decor, nice and relaxed environment for great quality food and cocktails. Will definitely be booking again on our next visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch here yesterday! My older dear pal whom I was with is a slow eater but staff were fantastic, especially the smiling young lady who mainly looked after us & never rushed us once….much appreciated!! Food, ambience, decor & staff…all terrific! I had a set 2-course meal…yummy carrot & parsnip soup, followed by a butternut squash risotto with pine nuts, served fresh & most importantly hot & extremely tasty & satisfying! My pal went for the soup too, followed by delicious scallops! Thank you to Scarlet & all the team for a superb few hours. I certainly will be returning soon 👍😃

I would not recommend Walcot House for breakfast. The hot smoked salmon and scrambled eggs looked like cat sick on toast. The brioche bun was stale and far removed from the brioche bun I expected, if it was brioche at all.

Polite friendly service. Excellent mixture of good pasta, meat and fish dishes. Pleasant prosecco. Nice atmosphere. Look forward to returning soon.

Brilliant Sunday lunch with a really fun buzz to the restaurant. Food was DELICIOUS - one of the best beef tartars we’ve ever had. Roasts of pork and lamb were perfect with all the best trimmings. Delightful chocolate cheesecake to finish. Staff were so attentive and let us move to an alternative table that we were more comfortable in. Would highly recommend and will return soon!

We stopped in for lunch on a cold Wednesday in January and it was a real delight. Lovely service, delicious wine and wonderful food. I had the scallops, my mother had the monkfish, and my husband the steak. The steak, in particular was exceptional! Thank you for such an enjoyable dining experience.

Service and food were exceptional. Perfect for any occasion. We could have had anything from the menu, it all sounded delicious and had a great selection of seasonal produce on offer

Came for a birthday lunch as a table of 10. From the moment we booked, the team were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us. On the day we were late due to traffic and still received 5* service. Food was fantastic, atmosphere was great. Definitely in my top 5 eating out experiences

The food was good, but perhaps not quite special enough given the high prices charged. Nice ambiance, not too noisy so able to chat.

Poco iluminado. El personal hizo lo que necesitaba hacer, pero distante y antipático. Intenté hacer una conversación, pero eso falló. Renunció después de eso Parecían decididos a vendernos más vino. Tuvimos un almuerzo maravilloso celebrando a nuestra madre, el restaurante es espacioso, hermoso y acogedor. La camarera era tan encantadora y realmente ayudó a que mamá se sintiera especial. La comida era deliciosa y todo el mundo era muy vocal sobre lo buenas que fueron sus elecciones. El servicio era atento pero no intrusivo, que es un buen equilibrio. Sin duda volveremos a Walcot House.

Segunda vez. Tan bueno como primero. Excelentes entrantes, excelente red principal y sabrosos puds, todos bañados por vinos plateados. Y el precio era muy razonable para un almuerzo de calidad. El precio de la comida era bueno también. sin duda vale la pena reservar.

Delicious and very generous portions, and a downright bargain. I’m not an enthusiastic carnivore but very much enjoyed the gently braised lamb (‘a cheap cut’, our friend pointed out) which was so tender you could’ve eaten it with a spoon. Would definitely return.

I walked into the restaurant and asked if I could sit outside, the waitress at the bar asked me to choose my table and there would be table service. I sat down and waited, I waited for 15mts before I was offered a menu. Then I order my main meal along with dessert and wine my wine arrives followed by my main meal. I then waited for a good 25 mts before my table was cleared . I asked the staff if they could bring my dessert and bill so I could pay as my phone was out of battery. The dessert did not arrive after a fair amount of time the gentleman realized I am still waiting and he grabs the bill. I pay the bill but I haven’t been served my dessert. By this time I was really put off by the whole attitude. We live down the road and this is somewhere we walk to for a drink or a meal, just absolutely disappointed, not to mention what customer service???

Although having visited Bath before, we had never walked up this ( more unfashionable? ) end of town. The friends we were with new the Walcot well, and had booked. Just as well; the place was packed. Not bad for a Wednesday lunchtime! Nice varied menu with a good value 2-course fixed as well. The boys went for the calves liver with chocolate truffle which was absolutely delicious. Great service from waitress although the bar took quite a while to get drinks on the table. We look forward to returning.

I would have every meal for the rest of my life here if I could. Firstly, the sourdough with nduja butter might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten, and definitely a million times better than anything you’ll find at an über expensive Michelin star restaurant. The perfectly salty and spicy butter seeps into the piping hot, pillowy bread and is absolutely divine. If you’re not ordering the burger here you are making a massive mistake. It is always absolutely perfectly cooked - juicy and decadent. The buns are absolutely incredible and it is the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. However, if you’re looking for a fancier meal here I would definitely go for the ribeye steak, which was the most flavorful steak I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly seasoned with a salty crust all around and stunningly cooked. Not to mention the service is incredible every time, with every single member of staff being completely attentive and kind.

Inconsistent. We go to Walcot House regularly .. often it’s very good. Recently I’ve found it a little disappointing - though maybe because it’s the height of the tourist summer in Bath and they’re very busy. Our table requests at booking are now pretty much always ignored - which now means I go there feeling anxious I will be made to sit near noisy people or in a service corridor (which is a real problem for me and spoils my meal). Today, Sunday lunch, was disappointing too .. gravy was watery and lacked seasoning and the beef was lacking the usual quantity or quality. Sadly the table issue means I’ll have to find another go-to restaurant in Bath. One day there will be a restaurant that recognizes neurodiverse challenges!

Very rare nowadays – I would have liked everything on the menu! And I certainly liked everything I did order. Great value for money, nice atmosphere, lovely service.

Been a chef for 15 years and cannot fault the food or the service. Waiters are incredibly welcoming and attentive, but not over bearing. Food perfectly seasoned and well cooked. The only criticism would be the cutlery, in need of replacement, old, very scratched. But an incredible date night, will recommend to all family and friends.

Invited to a wedding reception here, and I must say it was the most amazing food and wine that I have ever had. Hoping to return for a meal!

wow what a lovely place, why is it you come across these fantastic places and you never have one where you live, I would love to pop in this place frequently, atmosphere the look of the place and the staff are friendly as well. the breakfast food was delicious, could not fault it at all. we would have loved to try an evening meal there but we had booked up for the 4 nights we had stayed, we are going back in December to Bath so will be booking for dinner. Thank you for such friendly service and fantastic breakfast.

Really disappointing. We arrived to celebrate our daughters 20th birthday and the 3 balloons we had taken to place on the table were promptly confiscated from us as their policy does not allow balloons. We had also called prior to this to ask whether we could bring her favourite cake and were rather snootily told over the phone that people can bring them but there was a charge of £3.50 per person. Seems very odd for a simple gesture of bringing a cake out to a table? We went through to the main restaurant and after a lengthy wait we ordered. My daughter was opening her presents and there were cards and presents on the table yet not one member of staff wished her a happy birthday! When the starters arrived one of our guests plate was badly chipped so we asked for an unbroken plate, the waitress seemed shocked that we would ask such a thing then came back with a completely different patterned plate to the rest of us. A sarcastic gesture I am sure. When our mains arrived 3 diners had ordered steaks which were served as "meat on a plate", we were sat like this for a few minutes and had to call a waitress over to ask where the accompanying fries were. A man then came over asking if we had ordered fries and then said I'm really sorry but chef is just going to cook them now do you want me to put your steaks under the hot lights while you wait ??? Really ?? At this price point. Who in the kitchen thinks that 3 steaks on a plate are going out to table with no accompaniments. We then ate our steaks as just meat on a plate and when our steaks were almost gone then the scolding hot fries arrived. My husband ordered the lamb cutlets, his plate had various chips in it making it look very scruffy and obviously chipped plates are unhygienic and should not be used, especially in this type of restaurant. However after the steaks fiasco and we really wanted to have a pleasant dinner and not be complaining he just ate it. My daughter ordered 2 mojitos, the first arriving but the 2nd arrived with just one mint leaf floating on the top? So she was scooping the mint out of her old glass to put in her new drink. She did this in front of the waitress who just ignored it and didn't offer to get fresh mint for her. We ordered the bill which promptly came (the only thing to arrive promptly that evening) and the waitress explained that the 3 fries that arrived late were not on the bill and they had put a small discount on to make ammends but they still had a £24 service charge on it. Upon leaving I had to ask for our confiscated balloons back and was asked by our waitress if everything was ok so I was honest and said not really. We asked about bringing out a cake and obviously arrived with the balloons to try and make my daughters birthday special and by their actions and policies they definetly did not make it special. No member of staff wished her a happy birthday, no small gesture of a birthday plate was brought out as lots of restaurants do and they have gone out of their way to make it as unspecial for her as they could. We will not be returning.
