First and foremost, this is not a criticism of the owner or the quality of food - we have visited many times and both are just lovely! 🙂 However, the customer service from some of the junior waiting staff could be much improved. Whenever we’re in New Brighton, we always head to The Waiting Room for lunch - as we did today. It’s very popular and always busy. Today, when we arrived, there were no free tables. The waitress just said “sorry we’re full”. We asked how long it might be for a table but she just shrugged and said she didn’t know - we ended up taking our custom to Costa and spent a lot of money that we otherwise would have happily spent supporting a local independent tea room instead of a big corporate coffee shop chain. Another thing was, as we arrived, the owners’ surly granddaughter (I say surly as she was quite rude and offhand with us on our previous visit) who is also a waitress there was sitting at the outdoor table eating a sandwich. I understand that she was most likely on a break, but common sense should have prevailed to offer this table to paying customers - instead, she just sat there glued to her phone. Perhaps the junior staff could suggest a time to come back and be a little more customer friendly, rather than turning paying customers away.

Visited this gem of a cafe for breakfast/brunch and was not disappointed. From the minute we sat down we were made to feel incredibly welcome by the lovely, friendly staff. There was a nice range of options to choose from on the menu and prices were more than reasonable. We ordered a veggie breakfast, small breakfast, panini and scone and had no complaints whatsoever! The scone was to die for, particularly as it was still partially warm! The atmosphere was very welcoming and I specifically liked that we could see the lady preparing our food in the kitchen, creating a homely atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again on my next visit to New Brighton - thank you for a lovely morning/afternoon!

We live on the wirral and like to walk along the seafront at new brighton with one destination in mind, The Waiting Room Cafe. Today we visited and were met by Carole the owner and were made very welcome, The premises where previously shared with a man selling models but he has now moved to a vacant shop next door. Carole now has quite a large cafe and it was filling up nicely as we left. The food on offer is very tasty and the cakes are to die for. We wish carole every success and thoroughly recommend you should visit. We saw four ladies approaching the cafe when we left and told them how good it is and they went in. Best in the area Cant wait to return.

Brilliant little cafe. Really nice friendly staff and the coffee has to be the best around here. Bank holiday Monday and every other cafe is closed. Although I must add the staff do have to deal with some right grumps, just because there wasn’t a table available.

We’re not from the area and didn’t know this place. It was Easter Sunday so town was busy, we walked past this cafe and it looked nice so we went in hoping to get a table. They directed us to a table straight away. The service was great, all the staff were nice. Between us we had sandwiches, toastie & chips and baked potatoe with topping. The food was all fantastic, just what you want for a quick lunchtime meal.

Were on a wee trip to New Brighton while staying in Liverpool for a few days when this place cought our eye .Mainly the cakes and models in the window ! Place is not big as half model shop half cafe but well worth the visit .Cakes were delicious and as it hadn't been long since breakfast I took a cream tea away to eat later which was delicious and very filling .Would recommend and certainly pop in if in New Brighton again as they had great looking quiche n soup too .

We were having a little walk in New Brighton and thought we'd pop in on the off-chance that they would have a slice of gluten free cake. We were not disappointed, not only did they have one cake but we came away with two different varieties. Bakewell and lemon drizzle, both were amazing. Staff are so friendly too, we will definitely be returning.

I found this gem a couple of weeks ago, and have visited around 5 times so far. It is a new favourite haunt! It is dog friendly, has gluten free options, and does one of the nicest coffees I have ever tasted. The owner and staff are absolutely lovely. They really do make the place very special. They know my dogs' names and my usual order. I will keep returning. I recommend to all.

Lovely, filling veggie breakfast at this cafe (inside a model shop) cooked fresh to order. Comes with toast and a drink so really good value too. Friendly staff and dogs welcome. A great choice when out in New Brighton.

Absolutely beautiful. Went here with my mother in law for the first time and was not disappointed. The homemade quiche was without a doubt the best I have ever eaten. The staff where extremely accommodating, polite and friendly. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Best cafe in new brighton by far, the Quiche here is to die for and all food is homemade and comes out fresh! all the staff are very friendly and a special mention to waitress Halle, she was very assertive and remembered our order on our second visit! Thank you for making our visit here so special

Went to this great little cafe with my son, who's mad on railways, we had they best lunch for a very long time, we both had the cream tea which was very nice, the scones are as big as steam train wheels. you get so much for your money, best value by fare. 110/100

The atmosphere here is very warm and friendly. The staff are attentive and the prices extremely competitive. They have extended the £7.50 for (beautifully presented) afternoon tea offer, comprising a sandwich with salad and a delicious scone with cream and jam or other freshly made cake of your choice along with a coffee or pot of tea, making this excellent value when compared with regular prices. They cater for dietary needs with a smile. Great job! 😊

We had Afternoon Tea for a group of 8 friends celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. The sandwiches were good but the cakes were amazing 🤩. All our dietary requirements were catered for including vegetarian & Gluten Free. The service was great and we definitely recommend visiting here for a Special occasion. An odd title you might think. My wife and I were only going to have a pot of tea. However, we were cake shamed by the lovely lady owner into enjoying one of her truly scrumptious home made cakes. Now this is the first stop on any of our visits to New Brighton. And of course always ready to sample the homemade selection. Nice one!!

Lovely 'cream tea' for lunch, freshly made sandwiches with plenty of filling and a choice of cake or scone. We chose cakes, both of which were lovely light moist sponges, delicious. Nice pot of tea and proper cups , perfect

This place is amazing! First time I went here was today and I will be back for sure. Their afternoon tea is just perfect! Everyone is so nice, welcoming and friendly. The food was just gorgeous. One of the owners saw I collected enamel pins and gave me two just because! I will be back for sure!!

Carole’s homemade cakes are delicious and lovely coffees, our daughter loves the cooked breakfast, all the staff are friendly and welcoming so can highly recommend this lovely little cafe

If your visiting New Brighton and fancy some food and drinks, look no further. Just off the prom, you will receive a warm welcome, lovely staff and the scones and cakes are all home baked and very yummy. A variety of food on offer and a menu to view before u go if you Google the cafe ☺️

My friend lives out the area, so I took him here, as I remember visiting when Carole first opened. I loved it then and I love it now even more so. Virtually everything is homemade and made to perfection. We opted for afternoon tea. This consisted of a sandwich of our choice, a scone with clotted cream and jam, served with tea or coffee. We had a soft drink also. Usually this would cost £10 but there was an offer so we paid £8 each. Great value for money. I couldn't recommend it enough. The girls are polite, courteous and serve with a smile. Can't ask for much more than that! Well worth a visit.
