Came across this while walking down Nile Street, it is a not just for profit café supporting those with Autism and/or learning difficulties to find employment . We had 2 sandwich's, one a Panini with great quality ham, none of that wafer thin supermarket malarkey, and the wifes sandwich was served in lovely granary bread, her egg mayonnaise was a nice texture with just the right amount of mayonnaise in, we shared a fantastic homemade chocolate cake, and had 2 nice bean coffees all for less than £!0 , what's not to like ? considering price v quality this has got to be the best on Tyneside!! and deserves support , once word gets around I'm sure it will take off , oh and did I mention the home made scones and soups - what ya waiting for , get there now!!! It is very child friendly and also has a sensory room , a great ethos And loved the décor, very authentic, if I could be respectful and suggest one thing to strive for perfection it would be to perhaps provide a few magazines - then we can really give the big boys a run for their money, we will be back without doubt.

Visited this tea room after a visit to my favorite card shop. Just popped in for a coffee but was tempted by the victoria sponge cake. When I went upstairs to the loo I was amazed by the childrens play area and party area. I will definately be back with my grandchildren. I took a piece of quiche home for my tea.

I had previously been to the Tea Room downstairs and spotted the play area upstairs when i went to the loo. I brought grandson as a treat. He had great fun in the play area dressing up and bopping the inflatable animals. I had great problems getting him out of there to join me for lunch in the Snug which is next to the play area. I was amazed at the low prices for a lunch for the two of us. It was a cheap day out for me as the play time was free. He is already asking when we can go again - maybe his mam can take him

Called in again as it was half term and not only did I enjoy the great array of cakes and quality coffee last time but the kids who are notoriously picky loved the sweet treats from the fridge! Cafe very busy with every table occupied so the delicious cakes and other menu items (the bacon sandwiches seemed to be popular) are clearly well regarded! Good to see that the team had noted our last comments about hand washing after canine clients however still disappointed by the team themselves and some if the conversations - arguing amongst themselves from the kitchen which was audible as well as complaining about the busyness and number of customers - surely being popular in a a good thing?!? This manifested and extended to slamming of cutlery drawers and fridges, slamming of the phone when being placed back on it's charger and banging of orders when placed on tables and just a frosty atmosphere from the FOH staff to the point my son was frightened to ask them for some more ketchup for his sandwich as he didn't want to get shouted at!! The quality of the food and refreshments is definitely the saving grace for what otherwise is a great addition to the town centre.
