The Vintage Fish in Merton

Tend to think we have a monopoly on the best chippies up north, but this one is really, really good! Good sized portions and excellent quality cod. A bit pricey, but well worth it for the quality of fare provided.

Usually reliable for fish and chips, unfortunately our takeaway on Friday was below usual standards with both of our cods soggy leading to all bottom of batter sticking to the paper. Not what you expect when paying £32 for two fish and chips!! Seems very expensive

I went there to buy one sort of fish and came out with several. All was delicious. Will definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Some of the best fish and chips I’ve eaten. Ever! I can count on one hand the number of really first class fish and chips I’ve eaten in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve eaten loads of mediocre, lifeless, lustre lacking impersonations of fish and chips. Vintage Fish on Leopoldo Road really is in a class of it’s own. Large hand cut crisp chips hit the spot perfectly! The haddock was filleted, battered and cooked to the point of perfection. Salt, vinegar, tartare sauce and a wedge of Lemon provided an impeccable meal. Vintage Fish serves ‘world class cuisine’, and at £13, there’s nothing not to love about this place.

l absolutely love the fish and homemade mushy peas. l previously had a cod and haddock , now l have tried cod bites (see attached pictures).Loving it. They cook as you wait (it’s a take away place not restaurant )or you can have it delivered (check Deliveroo). Staff there is very friendly ,professional and they add extra homemade garlic mayo which l also love . This is the best fish and chips (sweet potato my favourite) in Wimbledon and Haydons Rd. Bus 156 or 493 stops just round the corner. Lots of other yummy things to try , l often get a sausage for my friends dog (plain ,no coating), he loves it too. You won’t be disappointed .

Visited with a group of friends for a takeaway after work, absolutely worth every penny! Staff were polite, and the atmosphere was great. Thank you Vintage Fish!

The food was delicious and very fresh. No doubt to their claim it comes in daily from Billingsgate. Thick chip shop curry sauce, tangy coleslaw. It’s all good!

I pre-booked a collection for 7.30-8:00 this evening. The order was accepted. The rider was there to collect but the order was not ready. I couldn’t get through to the restaurant and when the order finally arrived 1hr 40 mins late, it was the wrong thing and really didn’t smell good. Shocking service all round. First time I’ve ordered from this restaurant, and never again!

Do not order a delivery. They took three hours and still the food didn’t arrive. Refused to cancel and refund my order even after calling many times and pleading with them. We couldn’t just make our own food because they wouldn’t cancel our order. So we had to keep waiting one, two and then three hours. Many phone calls later - still no food. This is a hateful way to treat your customers. If you can’t provide the food in a reasonable time you should just apologise and cancel the order, not force your customers to pay anyway while they are still waiting three hours after ordering. They are greedy and accept orders they cannot hope to fulfil. They must hate their customers. I would never use this restaurant again. The worst approach to customer service I’ve ever experienced.

First time here and definitely not the last. The most upmarket and high quality fish and chips ever. Had the Cod and it was amazingly fresh, perfectly cooked, and a very generous portion. There is also a fresh fish market. The staff are so friendly, efficient, polite and helpful. Each portion is placed in stable and lined cardboard box, and before the box is closed we were asked whether we would like herbs, salt, and vinegar, which were all added to our liking. Tartar sauce was amazing. The only disappointment was seeing all the pennies in the tips jar - how mean is that considering how hard the staff toil in the heat? Takeaways require the same level of care and time as full service, so get real and be respectful of this very fine staff. Suggest tips are automatically added as in other takeaways and restaurants.

Visited this place recently. The food is quality, has fully taste to it. It is one of the best fish i ate on Earth. Definitely is worth it. Recommend to everyone.
