Visited with my wife and two infants. The lady behind the bar was lovely. Really helpful, offered a high chair and also spoke to the chef to see if he could arrange some soup for my wife (who had tonsillitis/struggling with solids). Outstanding food (credit to the chef who went out of his way to help) and brilliant/friendly service. She was great interacting with our kids too. Thanks to all. We’ll definitely return when passing through again!

We were recommended here by our Airbnb host. A lovely local pub, with amazing food. A small but perfectly formed menu, with a bit of a Hungarian twist. We had the Hungarian sausage and prawns to start then a venison steak and a beef goulash and it was delicious. Great selection of beers and ciders and wine was lovely. Thanks for making us feel welcome.

Another absolutely brilliant meal at The Vine Tree. This gorgeous little pub (very traditional in style) punches way above its weight when it comes to food (and also for the perfection of its real ale, for those who are interested in this). The views are completely stunning, the welcome lovely, the food wonderful and (for its standard, compared with some other more well known “gastropubs” in this area) terrific value for money. Just come to The Vine Tree and enjoy!

We had dinner at The Vine Tree last night, and it was a wonderful experience all round. It’s an extremely welcoming pub, very traditional in character, and Layos the landlord is an expert chef. We sat outside, enjoying panoramic views over the Stroud valleys and commons - the pub is set very high up the hill and the views are spectacular. The food was perfect, and the table service delightful. Particularly, the Real Ale available (Tiley’s, from a nearby microbrewery) was in absolutely perfect condition: keeping beer well is something that Layos takes a great pride in, very deservedly, and is surprisingly unusual amongst Gloucestershire publicans. It’s a wonderful pub: do visit!

We've visited here a couple of times for Sunday lunch over the past month and have been seriously impressed! The set up is simple - there is a short menu to choose from (selection of meat roast dinners plus a fish and veggie option), written on a blackboard - but the results are fantastic! Delicious, local, fresh homemade food. We particularly enjoyed the pork (amazing crackling), boar (apparently butchered by the chef himself!) and whiting (breaded white fish). Yummy roast potatoes and veg to accompany meals plus good portion size. Puddings were also AMAZING - again, just a few choices and a changing menu, but all homemade and all delicious. Good selection of local drinks on bar, with pleasant service, although a bit more knowledge from bar staff might have been helpful. Would highly recommend if you are local or walking Cotswold Way. If neither of these, make a trip one Sunday. It will be worth it!

Our first visit for approx a year; the last time we went with family a few of them had a little moan that the menu didn't have alot of choices on, and we'd never really ventured back with lots of choices in town and nearby. The situation is still the same, but then it's not trying to be a Wetherspoons - far, far from it. I fancied a steak and heard that they were amazing. I thought the £25 price tag was alittle OTT for our quiet Saturday night out BUT, they do a steak night on a Wednesday - two steaks and a bottle of house wine for £35 - we will definitely give that a go soon. Now that these niggles are out the way. The pub is very welcoming, we reserved a table but for a Saturday evening it was nice and quiet and very relaxed. The bar lady served the drinks and took the orders whilst the chef was doing his thing - cooking up a Baked Red Seam Break from the special board for me, and the Belly Pork for my partner - WOW! Nicely presented, tasted amazing, no wait for food, yet no rush either. We both couldn't fault the food. The pub itself is very charming, dog friendly and small - booking recommended on weekends to avoid disappointment. In the summer the garden views are super-fantastic. We will be returning soon and won't leave it so long next time.

An obvious stop off point on The Cotswold Way, this is a heaven-sent pub with simple well-prepared food to send you happily on your way with a spring in your step (unless you chose the sticky toffee pudding, in which case your departure will be more stately). It's a lovely place and extremely well-run by a charming couple who made us very welcome, looked after the dog and poured (well, not literally) pints of life-imparting beer down our throats. The views over Stroud and across the valley are cinematic, and the whole place left us with a warm feeling. Stop here if you can, (but beware it's down the hill from The Cotswold Way - which means of course a steep climb to regain it). Excruciating - but well worth it for the glow...

The burger was thick tasty and homemade, good chips again although we only had six plus a tiny amount of coleslaw. A couple more chips and a bigger helping of coleslaw would have made it perfect. This is a local restaurant we have now tried on two occasions. I resisted putting anything on here the first time as I had seen the good reviews and thought it may have been a one off. Unfortunately our second visit didn't meet our expectations either. We visited on a Friday evening, it was pretty cold in the pub so I didn't take my coat off and we both ordered soft drinks from the pump. They were more or less flat.We ordered olives and bread for starters - the olives didn't arrive so we had to chase up. The bread came with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - served in a pot so deep that you couldn't really even get to the vinegar. My husband wasn't impressed with the bread although I didn't find it to be too bad.For mains we both decided to go for the Hungarian stew - we assumed a signature dish due to the owners nationality and we wanted something hearty to warm us up! Unfortunately the dumplings were very powdery and the meat had so much fat in it, we both left a good amount. Not like us at all.Considering we shared the bread and olives, had soft drinks and stew for the main, our bill was just over £40. We didn't feel that this amount was really warranted and it is such a shame as it is in such a great location. The staff were very friendly too.We didn't complain on the night, nothing was terrible or inedible but it just wasn't up to our expectations.

The Vine Tree Inn is a great venue on the side of the hill in Randwick village with fantastic views. The bar and restaurant have traditional warm village atmosphere. In the summer there is a wonderful garden to sit in. We had a works Christmas dinner which was freshly cooked and as good as the Sunday lunches. Lajos is keen to please his customers and is very accommodating. He supplied a meeting held there with warm filled ciabatta and amazing chips followed by delicious home made chocolate cake and plenty of coffee and tea. Friday night is homemade burger and beer night. Tasty and very good value.

We did a circular walk around the area (Telegraph walks) and finished at the Vine Tree. My husband and I had lunch in the garden with our dog, we chose the burger in ciabatta - burger was homemade, the chips really crispy - it was absolutely delicious! Service was great - no complaints at all!

The meal we had rated along with very expensive restaurants we have eaten in including celeb chefs, well done to Laios who obviously takes pride in his knowledge of food and wine.

The biggest problem is finding the place but if you take the trouble it is well worth it. We were walking round the ins and outs of Randwick and came across the Vine Tree. We popped in for a drink but ended up having a couple of excellent steaks. The service was very good and the views were magnificent. Some good real ale available. Recommended.

I often take friends here for lunch and we always have a nice meal. Food is locally sourced, and cooked fresh, and the selection of beers and wines etc.is good. The pub is old worldly with wonderful views over the valley. I would really recommend it for a pleasant, relaxed meal.

Four of us went here today for a Father's Day lunch. There was one vegetarian option on the menu which my step-mum didn't fancy, and the lovely chef offered a delicious alternative of mushroom stroganoff. The rest of us had a pork belly roast and it was without doubt the most delicious cut of pork we have ever tasted. A beautiful intimate venue with stunning views, exceptional food and wonderful staff. This is going to be hard to beat!

Having seen it's brilliant review, we popped in for a birthday meal. The cask marque ale was excellent, as were the selection of soft drinks. The food was excellent, but I don't know whether a waitress had called in sick but there was one girl doing the bar and floor- two guys in the kitchen. It wasn't that busy, but she kept forgetting things and getting flustered which was just irritating, and a real shame. The food made up for poor service, thankfully, and we Had a nice time. Worth a visit.

Myself and 3 friends had just completed a hard morning's walk on the Cotswold Way and were in need of urgent refreshment. Butty Bach from the Wye Valley Brewery was excellent and highly recommended. The landlord was very welcoming and served us some excellent home cooked food. We asked him for the recipe for his chips as they were some of the best we had ever had! Will definitely visit again.

Four of us had been walking and called in for lunch. We were welcomed by the landlord and had excellent meals - 3 thick ham and eggs and a brie and bacon chiabatta and 8 pints of ale. The chips were the best we have ever had, crisp and crunchy with a soft inside ( a cooks secret ). Lovely views across the valley. Excellent all round. This pub deserves more custom.Steve B

A group of about 20 of us descended on the Vine Inn for lunch after a walk in the area. Cosy and comfortable interior, would have had excellent views but for the fog outside!I had battered haddock and chips, with peas and tartare sauce, very nicely cooked and presented. The portion size was just right, as were all the other meals served. Good service from pleasant staff. I would recommend this pub to other visitors to the area.

We enjoyed a delicious steak dinner here on their Wednesday night steak night....a beautifully cooked rump steak with peppercorn sauce...crispy onions which were absolutely delicious and a welcome change to normal chunky onion rings, chips and a side salad made for a faultless dinner...a tasty Eton mess to finish and we were stuffed! Couldn't recommend the food here more and at £37 for two drinks, two steaks and a pudding to share was good value too. Thanks!

Nice and peaceful with great views. The menu is limited as another reviewer noted but at least that meant what they did was done well.Little atmosphere but we're here for lunch! Priced about right for the Cotswolds.Worth finding on a day out.

Wanted to say thanks to the owner / chef for a lovely lunch stop after a long walk. Arrived at pub just before closing, however was made to feel very welcome (even with our muddy boots and dog) and no problem ordering lunch at this time. The Haloumi panini and small portion of chips was just what was needed. My friends all had different lunches. All enjoyed our choices. Will definately be going back.

Looks nothing from outside in the car park , but the food was fabulous , well cooked and presented , the welcome was warm and we really enjoyed ourselves. We have been back several times and it always good , go off the beaten track to find this before it gets too popular

We had a lovely meal with a couple of new to the area friends, both of us with 1 year old children, the pub is clean and pleasant with an inviting bar,we all had roasts, the meat was very good quality and very well cooked and seasoned,it was accompanied by a good selection of freshly cooked vegetables and decent home made roast potatoes ( no frozen stuff here) all finished off with a tasty gravy... the real ale was well kept, we finished off the meal with puddings, creme brulee was excellent as were the homemade shortbread biscuits...A lovely pub with great views and great food, would be nice to see a couple of regulars at the bar to add to the atmosphere. Will definately visit again.

We joined a close friend and his family for a 70th birthday . A table for 20 with a menu chosen beforehand. The meat was lovely and vegetables good. Superb Puddings Delightful building but be aware there are several lots of steps at the front. It's a shame there was no effort made to brighten up the table or even make sure the table and chairs were clean. Cutlery wrapped in a cheap paper napkin was not what we expected. Overall the meal was very good, the owners seemed pleasant but very little atmosphere in the pub. Although nice we wouldn't rush to go back until had tried other pubs in the area.

We found the Vine Tree after doing 9 miles of The Cotswold Way when looking for a pub to have a drink and some light lunch - we were so impressed with the quality of their lunch ciabattas (beef and horseradish for hubby and mozzarella and pesto for me) that we decided to book a table for dinner. We came back in the evening and had the cross beef goulash which being a Hungarian dish cooked by the Hungarian chef was wonderful. This is a very welcoming pub, the couple running the pub are attentive and friendly. Highly recommended on all fronts.

Sat night we ate at the Vine Tree in Randwick.Lovely looking pub with good views etc.Starters, fried holoumi with sweet chilli jam, crab and crayfish cakes, haddock and crab fishcakes, tomato and basil soup.. all very tasty.Mainsbelly pork, mash (chips), apple sauce. 1 mile Jonathon beef pie. both lovely. :)Gnocchie, was a bit stodgy :/no desertsResturant prices in a pub, starters £6 >£8 mains £9 > £19 which would have been ok as the food was nice and obviously freshly cooked as we altered a couple of dishes to suit tastes. Chef/owner was most helpful. The let down was there were several young children running around all evening which trashed the atmosphere completely. We asked if this was normal and unfortunately it does seem to be, especially at weekends. Children would be ok in a pub if it was serving bar food at bar prices but at these prices we would want something a little more relaxing. So sorry but we won't be returning.
