A warm and friendly canalside pub. We were a party of 16 out for lunch celebrating a reunion. We all ordered a mix of the menu - no easy task for our two waitresses who couldnt have done more for us. Efrin and Ellie served us with patience and a smile and the Manager Naomi was very much hands on in the pub. Food was very good with a varied menu and was well presented. On returning home up North I discovered I'd lost my purse. I rang The Vine on the off chance I'd lost it there and I had! Naomi the manager took my address and sent the purse back to me - thats great service! 😊

Poor. Came from out of town for the kayaking that is run from there. That was good fun and was booked for lunch. 1. Had to get someone to take a food order even tho we were a large table. No real coordination or explanation of how things run. 2. Over an hour of waiting and genuinely think our order was lost. Other tables ordered and were served food promptly. I chased and was told it was being plated up but took another 10min. No apology or acknowledgement of any issue. 3. Pizza order from pizza oven is totally independent so impossible for orders to arrive at same time. 4. Food was poorly thrown together and clearly was fresh out of the Microwave. 5. Beer was totally lifeless and lost all head and life after pouring. All round disappointing.

Travelled 30 mins to get here sat and waited for 50 minutes to be told no food left for the Sunday menu as they had ran out. It’s ridiculous. Will not be coming again.

Really disapointed with the service AND food today 04/08/24. Have eaten here before during the week on an afternoon with no issues. We pre booked our table today and our drinks and orders were taken quickly, however, after waiting for 1 hour for our meals (3 roast dinners and 1 fish and chips) we were so disapointed. The brocoli was raw, the roasts wernt cooked through and the boiled potatoes were like bullets. We complained and were offered free deserts but declined as we had plans for the rest of the afternoon and were already delayed. Wouldnt visit again on a weekend, sorry.

Lovely setting and lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor for fine days. Couldn't eat as the kitchen closed at 8pm so can't comment on food. Staff were great but drinks very expensive. Plenty of parking - you need to leave your registration number at the bar or you will be automatically fined.

Where to start!! This pub used to be a really nice family pub serving good value food. Today I took my husband and daughter for an evening meal. The pub was quiet, in hindsight this should have been a red flag The table we not as clean as it should have been. We ordered 2 x steak with peppercorn sauce and a veggie pizza. Steaks arrived very quickly and looked good, however my medium steak was in fact blue . It was returned to the kitchen and then given back to me . The cut ends had been seared leaving the rest of the steak still blue. Returned to kitchen again. By this time my husband had finished his meal. My daughter was still waiting for her pizza !! In fairness they had cooked me a whole new meal but minus the peppercorn sauce. Finally the meal was edible. My daughter then finally received her pizza and you might guess it was the veggie supreme and not the veggie pizza she had ordered, to make matters worse it was burnt on the bottom and edges and barely cooked on the top . NOT worth the £13 price tag for a pizza that was lost in its box. We gave up at this point and cut our losses Sorry to say we will not be recommending. .

A group of us came here last Friday for the fajitas with a table booked for the evening. We had an indifferent greeting from the young female bar person who waved her hand saying "you are sat over there". Not too bothered we found our table. 15 minutes later I had to go and ask for the menus which was slightly annoying as it was not at all busy. I saw the fajitas (which had been advertised) were not on the menu. The chap behind the bar stated "its on a separate board at the other end of the bar". I asked for it to be passed over by which time my patience was wearing a little thin but I remained polite. Fast forward 20 minutes before I asked for someone to take our order. The three staff were stood chatting together behind the bar. The food arrived promptly. Five of us ordered the fajitas and were most impressed. The best I have had to be honest. No staff came to check on us and asked whether we needed more drinks so we fetched our own. Once finished we waited a good while for the bill but again no staff appeared. Slightly annoyed we went to the bar and saw the three bar staff huddled together chatting away. The girl who served us was also checking her mobile phone as you do. It was quiet in the pub so I was disappointed by the total lack of customer service. They seemed pretty clueless I have to say. Real ale was good but a tad expensive for the area. Overall, the food was excellent but what should have been an enjoyable night was marred by the indifferent and lazy staff who obviously need further training. I appreciate the problems employing new staff in the hospitality sector but a good experienced supervisor should be able to sort this crew out. To their credit I see that the manager replies to the reviews which is commendable. #In the interest of fair play the wife and I returned 2 weeks later to give it another go as everyone is entitled to a bad day. It was much better this time round but disappointed that the fajitas have been taken off the menu. However, I had the steak which was really good. There were different bar staff who were experienced and efficient which was pleasing. The meal was a tad slow coming out bearing in mind it was not busy at the time we went. Overall, it was loads better. We live local and have heard countless times that on a sunny day when the pizzas are flying out that there is often a very long wait. As this is a popular order then may I politely suggest you purchase another pizza oven? It would surely pay for itself in no time and prevent a lot of grumbling. Thanks.

This pub really needs some TLC! We waited ages for our food today, 2/4 meals arrived and the waitress said she’d check on the progress of the 2 pizzas… she didn’t return. 20mins passed, 2/4 guests had then finished their food, when I asked the same waitress if she could please find out where the pizza had got to. We arrived at 12.45pm… it was now 3pm. She said she’d check. She didn’t return with an update, 20mins passed and the guy bought over the pizza, with no apology as to what had gone wrong. On leaving, I went to use the toilet… disgusting, I didn’t bother. I even checked the disabled WC which was also unflushed and not in a good state. I came out of the toilets, three members of staff were sat on their phones, searching ‘market place’ as we could over hear the excitement, I made the waitress aware of the WCs to which I understand the cleaners ‘hadn’t turned up’. I hate complaining, and I write this in the hope that this place can be turned around and improved, because it really is a special pub in a wonderful location!

EDIT 2, The company, are not interested, apparently due to road closure they were short staffed, we should have complained more at the time, apparently our guests were happy with a long wait and cold food or they would have complained more. What a shambles, very dissapointed that they feel this is a responsible reply. EDIT. I have emailed the company as requested on the reply to this review. I am still awaiting a reply...... We booked a table for nine at 6.30pm. Upon arriving we ordered drinks at the bar and sat waiting to order our food, over an hour went by, the pub was empty with staff laughing and giggling between themslves. I approached the bar and was left standing there whilst staff carried on with their private conversations. with no one attending our table, I ask to order food, another hour passed, we were starving!! The food finally came, most of it was stone cold and 2 steaks had to go back to the kitchen to be reheated and the burnt chips changed.. None of the sauces arrived until the meals had been eaten. A total shambles, we were not compensated in anyway, terrible service, ridiculous 2 hour wait to get food in an already empty pub. What a terrible birthday meal and total waste of money.

16 of us were booked for Sunday dinner. All had just main meal Sunday lunch. When meal came we were served by one waitress who brought our meat and roast potatoes and gravy. I asked where veg was and she said she would bring it . We then realised that there was one dish of cauliflower cheese between us all 3 tables and one dish of ( combined beans and broccoli ) for all 16 of us. Only couple of us had veg as we waited so long it was going cold and the cauliflower cheese was not enough for us. It was pointless saying anything as most of us had eaten our meat and potatoes. The waitress had moved on to another table. Very poor service beef and all meat was lovely but the lack of veg and lack of service was terrible. Not enough staff on to deal with the restaurant and only two behind the bar. It’s a shame as we had planned a lovely family get together and the meal was very poor.

First visit. Place needs a deep clean. Dust and cobwebs over /under the services. From where our party was sat you could see under the furniture which was littered with dust and rubbish. Both sets of toilets were backed up leaving only one available for customer use. The lids weren't closed nor sealed which would have eased the disgust of walking into them. The one member of staff was informed but was not free to do anything about it. The food was acceptable but not as advertised. The veg printed as broccoli/carrots was presented as peas which was acceptable but when queried with the staff member was added with the stated veg. For the prices charged we would not return nor recommend. Definitely big changes needed. The location and opportunity of footfall does not deserve this low standard.

The place is dirty, the table was uneven and wonky, all the tables were shown as reserved - despite not one of them being occupied in the 2 miserable hours we were there, my pint was off - doubt the pipes had been cleaned, the carvery had a 20 minute wait as there were no potatoes, yorkies etc, they'd run out of one of the 3 meats, the veg was mush, the stuffing was so dry is became a powder etc etc etc. I could go on, but you get the message. AVOID.

Today, we went for a walk in Kinver and got to the canal where we saw The Vine. We've driven past a few times and noticed it had some "Under new management" posters hanging outside. If this is what new management is like I would have hated to see what the old management was like.

On walking in the staff were uninterested did not engage in conversation. Sat down and found table sticky and bits of left over food in crevices. Sofa was stained and had food debris in the ridge at the back. Carvery looked good but, we decided to try the burgers as recommended by friends who go there regularly. The food arrived after a reasonable wait and looked very inviting and was freshly cooked, it was O.K not exceptional. The cutlery was in dire need of a polish. I didn't drink from my glass until I had finished eating (it was absolutely disgusting) made me wonder what the kitchen was like. The staff would do better concentrating on the cleanliness rather than folding serviettes and drinking coffee. I was very disappointed and while to food was acceptable, I could not recommend this place.

We are regular visitors to this pub, which we love, we take friends , been twice in the last seven days, have take at least 10 people there plus us, called last orders at 10pm, thrown out before our friends could get a taxi, yes it was raining , they no longer seem to have customers as there priority , they want to leave early and thats the leading factor. I was totally embarrassed for our friends who travelled a few miles to meet us, and to be thrown out, not pleased at all. The plus side is the food has always been very good, but some beers were not on , side dishes not available, to complement the steaks , is the pub being run into the ground, it would seem so, no leadership, staff seem disinterested, think we are at the end of our love for this our local pub..

My husband and I went here last Saturday for a meal as we were on a long weekend on the Staffs and Worcester canal. There are moorings within 100 yards of the Vine. We have 2 large dogs, so are not welcome everywhere despite them being very well behaved. We had walked round Kinver and couldn't get in anywhere else that did food. We were made very welcome at the Vine and given a table in a corner with plenty of room for the dogs. The beer was recommended by the barman, and was excellent. My husband had a rib eye steak with all the trimmings, which he said was the nicest steak he'd had out for a long time. So many times you ask for rare and it comes very medium - but this looked perfect. The onion rings were awesome - I had to try one. I had the fish pie which was also very good. The Chef came out to talk to us so we were able to pass on our compliments, which is always good. If you're in the area I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Right on the canal side with plenty of seating outdoors it would be lovely on a warm sunny day (we however had cold and hail). We came here as a group following a walk locally, we managed to find seating for us all. There was a large choice of food - so some of us ate sandwiches, hot meals or full on carveries - despite us all paying separately the food came out at the same time. The food was fine no complaints from us and there was more than plenty of it.
