This place is a little gem Had Sunday lunch there -£20 2 courses -food lovely & service very good. Will definitely visit again

This is our local pub we can walk to and enjoyed the pub with family and the two dogs since we moved here two months ago, however I was not prepared for the rudeness I got this morning as I walked my dogs past the pub. They are use to going there but it was obviously shut at 8am although they did want to go check by sniffing the front door. The owner shouted from the carpark “why are your dogs sniffing the pub door” shaking his head and at me from his van I’ll never go there again EVER (spent a fair bit in there in the last few months) He’s the rudest person I have met since I moved up from the south. Ruined my day and my “people are so much more friendly up here” thought process

Went there on Tuesday with a couple of friends, excellent food and service, will definitely go there again

We booked a table for 5 last night for my birthday, 4 adults and 1 child, we ordered a round of drinks and then decided to order loads of starters to share instead of a main meal. We ordered 1 large sharing starter, 5 single starters and 2 sides. The waitress took our order and then came back 5 minutes later to tell us that the chef was 'insulted' and refused to honour our order, that the table would normally make a couple of hundred pound on food instead of £90. My son's girlfriend had made me a birthday cake but of course the surprise was ruined as we had no choice but to leave. I am a bariatric patient and cannot each very much, my family had decided to order all the starters so that I could pick at each one, we were told that we could sit in the bar if we wanted starters but we had a child with us so that was not an option. We will never ever go there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Absolutely ruined my birthday.

Family Christmas dinner of 6 adults a one year old and a baby if 6 months . We pre ordered our meals as requested prior to our arrival only to be told once seated they had no Ham which 3 of us had pre ordered. We were given the menu to take a look after saying how disappointed we were. Then Miraculously the manager came over and said they did have ham there was some miscommunication but it would take about 10 mins. My granddaughter had to be given snacks to eat as she was hungry. The starter of belly pork bites was meant to come with bread to dip but we only had belly pork bites which were a little dry. The pate said served with toast but came with cold bits of bread. Then when the mains came it was gammon not Ham which looked like it had been grilled to within an inch of its life the mashed potato had no taste and was cold and lumpy. We had no Yorkshire puddings when other tables had them and also no roast parsnips. The children were not bought any food out at all and when asked they just plonked a small plate of food down no mention of the 6 months old dinner? After a mouthful of mash I could not eat mine and sadly the others In our group felt the same. The manger came over and asked if everything was ok and we did tell her it wasn’t she offered us all a drink which ok was a nice gesture and she said we didn’t need to pay the remainder of our bill. We never stayed for pudding the rest of the food was enough for us to realise the pudding would fall in the same category. I feel the deposit should have been refunded as we didn’t eat anything apart from half a starter and the food was certainly not fit for purpose. We will not return

Booked a table for Christmas Day, on arrival didn’t have the two beers we wanted on the pull, after a long wait after the starter, one of the staff came over and said that there weren’t any honey and marmalade baked ham even though 3 of our party had pre ordered that. Then 5 minutes later the owner told us that there was enough for us to have it. When the meals were brought out it was what looked like packet gammon from the supermarket. The turkey was dry and hard to cut through and lumpy mash, we didn’t get any Yorkshire puddings but could see them on peoples plates on other tables and there wasn’t any gravy brought out with the meals, when we asked we got one small pan between the 6 of us. We didn’t stay for the desert as the food was so poor. Won’t be returning.

Very disappointed with my entire visit tonight, it was my sons 18th birthday and I booked a table for 12 and a high chair. We were sat in the middle part of the restaurant most of the family sat with their coats on as it was absolutely freezing in there. We waited almost an hour for food to which the presentation was awful, burgers with a bap far too big for the burger so you were eating mostly bread. Two people had steak which was over cooked to what they asked it to be cooked. One meal was cold. We only got asked if we wanted drinks as we were all ready to go. I went to speak to the manager who did apologise and said she will see what she could do with the bill. She knocked £12 of the entire bill to which I found an insult. I complained further to the waitress who went off and knocked a further £20 from the bill. I was polite to everyone I complained to. The problem is you only get one 18th birthday and the evening was completely ruined and I was so embarrassed. I felt for the staff because the owner are in the building and didn’t even make effort to come and put anything right. Very poorly run, also a very limited menu with lots of items off the menu not available It’s a no from me I will never return here for a meal again.

Went for Sunday late dinner, there were 20 of us but no other customers when we got there. Was told it had gone back to old owners and much better. I’m afraid it wasn’t very good at all, presentation was awful, a slice of pate with 2 circles of cucumber and a petit pan bread roll cut in half is not how I would expect it to be served, a bit basic. Onion marmalade was brought out half way through eating it. Choose roast lamb for main…. Tough meat, cold mash, Luke warm veg. No one came and asked if our food was ok, one meal went back twice as it was cold. Sorry but we won’t be returning.

Lovely home cooked Sunday lunch, great food in a relaxing surroundings. Plenty of choice for a great Sunday lunch out.

Had a booking and because they have been taken over they cancelled our Christmas Dinner.we have a poorly mom who's we didn't want to cook and she isn't well and probably her last Christmas the staff and owners/ mangers showed no remorse

This establishment has been in very much the wrong control for a few years and 90% of customers took the sensible decision to go elsewhere. However, the original owners have now taken control again and in only two weeks the difference is remarkable. The potential here is massive, there is very little competition and when Richard and Jane get into something they make a very good job of it. Great atmosphere in the place and the food was very good, also quick service. The owners are very attentive, they will bring this place back !

My brother in law who recently moved to the area, suggested this pub/restaurant to us , what a great find, with honestly the best food and service we have received in a while .. Amazing menu, the food came out beautifully presented, hot and tasty in a timely manner, and staff were very attentive to our needs .. we had starters , mains, deserts and drinks and all agreed it’s the best food , we have eaten out for a while .. reasonably priced , in it’s beautiful surroundings.., currently trimmed up for Xmas , will definitely be returning..am looking forward to my second visit ..

We hadn’t been for a while and surprised at how empty it seemed for a Saturday night. It’s a shame because it’s beautiful inside. The service was excellent, as was the food. I had a prawn cocktail starter, I think the nicest I’ve ever had. We will definitely be returning soon.

Food was very nice, service was brilliant.The setup of the garden area is beautiful, but quite a walk for the waiters, had a bad bout of weather which included hail and heavy rain... but this didn't deter them and they still managed to bring our food out quick with a smile.So good in fact I drove to fetch a tip for them both.Will definitely be visiting again in the future, and will refer this place to friends and family

We visited here last night. I was contacted prior to my arrival and asked if we could get there any earlier, as the chefs weren't happy there had been multiple late bookings and they were quiet. So we agreed to arrive 15 mins earlier and actually found it quite busy.Once sat at the table, we waited 25 mins to order our drinks and food, and then a further 10 mins for our drinks to arrive. In total, 35mins just for a drink.The outside area is really pretty. The heaters are not really heaters, but nevertheless, the area is well spread out, and as it was quite busy, we didn't have a problem with being cold. Though there was an atmosphere, people talking etc, it seemed to lack something. Maybe a little bit of background music. I think the area is so large that it's hard to create a lively, balanced atmosphere. A waitress brought our cutlery over and quite literally dumped it on our table and walked off. No smile, no offer of anymore drinks, absolutely nothing, and this was just the start. It seemed to take an eternity for our starters to arrive, but when they did, they were nice. Following by our mains which were distinctly average. We ordered more drinks and again, took forever. It wasn't even 10pm and the staff started to pack stuff away. We'd not even finished our main course, and we were supposed to have dessert too! This made us feel so uncomfortable. Nevertheless, we finished our mains, and then the bill landed at our table. We hadn't asked for the bill, and to our surprise, they had still tried to charge us for the desserts. Good job we noticed!At this point, most of the tables had been put away. There was no bar as they closed it, and generally we felt unwelcome and like they were trying to force us to leave. Our bill was £171, so not cheap, and we felt the service we had received was not reflected in the price at all. We spoke to the manager, who quite frankly wasn't really that interested, but he knocked 10% off our bill, which we were very grateful for.For a restaurant that had quite the reputation prior to covid, I would say this has massively declined. The service is THE worst service we have experienced. The staff are rude, have absolutely no customer service skills and quite frankly, it's not worth the money you pay. I can go to a 2-4-1 pub and get better service.I wouldn't recommend this place. There are far nicer restaurants in the area.

Came here for a evening meal on a Thursday, so not a particularly 'busy' evening.Started off with waiting for over 15mins to get a drinks order and that point my girlfriend and I realised we needed to get the food order in too otherwise it could be a while. We waited for another 10-15mins for our drinks which only turned up because the staff came over to take our order only to realise they had already taken it. We clocked this and asked if they had put our food order in, they hadn't and they didn't taken other orders since then. We asked how long the food would be as at that point we were ready to cut our losses and leave but they said 'I'm not sure but won't be long' so we gave it the benefit of the doubt.During the time we were waiting we noticed that there just didn't seem to be any system in place when it came to waiting the tables, putting orders in etc. .The starter came out in about 20mins and it was fine and it was a good portion. However I had ordered a starter to be a main with a side dish and it came out with the starter, not a major problem and the staff member apologised and said they'd make a fresh dish for the main.We had finished the starter but no one came to clear our table and we knew we weren't going to get our main unless they cleared it, so we moved our plate to the edge of the table for them to notice which they eventually cleared 10-15mins later.We had another long wait for the mains to come out and when they did we looked at the time we realised we had been there for 90mins. The food was perfectly fine, we'd had worse versions of what we ordered but we'd had better too. Once again we had to do the same technique with our empty plates to try and get the attention of the staff but this time it didn't work as it seemed like some of them had finished and we just chatting to the bar staff while having a cigarette . So I went to the bar and asked for the bill, I was behind another customer who had to do the same because they asked for the bill 15mins ago.The bill came to what we expected food wise however we ordered 2 pints of coke and ended up having to pay £7 for them as they claimed they were 'draught' even though we had seen staff running bottles of coke from the main building to the outside bar. So essentially we paid that amount for bottled coke we could of just brought in ourselves for a quarter of the price.Overall it was a shame; the beer garden itself is huge and has a lot of potential to be a nice place, especially with the good weather coming, and the food is okay and I'm sure when they have the full menu up it will be great.However the overall service was dis-organised and it felt like no one knew what was going on.Combine that with hearing other customers complain that their order was wrong or they were waiting a long time too and a member of staff, who I assume was the manager, audibly swearing or complaining about the lack of organisation within earshot; it just made for a poor experience while dining.

The outside seating area is nice, we ordered a starter and main the food was of an average quality the chips were Straight out of a bag. The prices I thought was very high and this isn’t reflected on the menus online. I won’t be in a rush to be returning unfortunately.

First Meal Out in 18 months as hubby has been shielding and apart from Hospital visits it was his first time out out even inbetween lockdowns. Food was, as always perfect. Tables were spaced out very well in line with covid restrictions , which was reassuring. However I was surprised at the charge of the drinks...... I had a small white wine in a paper cup which was £5.50. I had asked for white wine spritzer, I did mention to the waitress and she took it back for lemonade to be added at a cost of .80p and still only came to about half way up the cup, if that. My daughters was the same, but Zinfandel which was £5.95 plus .80p for lemonade. Hubby’s lager shandy was a little better priced at £3.80. Enjoyed our food and was great to get out, maybe next time it will be lager shandy’s all round or buy a bottle of wine (depending on price of course) and take remainder home

first meal out after lockdown, extremely disappointed. The overhead tent roof was ok but the heaters were far too few , so didn't reach all the tables. It was a sunny but cool day and by the time food was bought to table it was Luke warm. The food "al fresco" menu was not on website so we were very disappointed with the limited drinks and simple food menu. we ended up with only a main course, which was average at best. The service was poor, twice I had to go to bar to find out where order was , both times they said the orders hadn't gone through. Overall very disappointed, no better than your average cafe.Will not be going again

Visited today with a friend, little bit chilly in the outdoor tent however expected due to the weather. Was a little bit skeptical due to some iffy reviews I’d seen. But was pleasantly surprised! Staff were friendly, and quick to offer service! Prompt at taking drinks and food orders. Acting manager was friendly and funny. Doing a great job of keeping spirits high given the circumstances! Food was lovely, and warm considering it’s a bit of a walk from kitchen to table.Can’t fault you guys given what you’re up against! Will be back again soon....maybe with a blanket

We booked online for our reservation. We arrived and were seated in the tent. Our food took 1.5 hours to arrive - we didn’t mind as we were enjoying being out. The food was amazing. After being served food we moved out to the garden to enjoy the sun - as it started to get busier, the service lacked. We waited 1.5 hours for a drink, when complaining to management we were told we were not being truthful. (This was checked behind the till and proved to be correct). When our drinks arrived half an hour later they were wrong. No one was bothered about unhappy customers as long as they were bringing in money.The poor waiter ‘Matt’ was the only person rushing off his feet to help people. He is a great asset to the company.Also a big no go was the ‘toilets’. The absolute disgrace of a portaloo. Wee everywhere, no one cleaning them or replacing toilet roll. When you pay £24 for one steak you expect good toilets and service. It’s a complete shame for this restaurant.

Excellent service and fantastic food! Went with family for food and drinks.. yes the drinks are in plastic cups and there are porta loos but it is what it is.. I think some people expect pre Covid experience and that’s not the case - the staff are excellent - and the food was fab - and we were out in a safe environment. If you chill and go with the flow you will have a fantastic time - we will be back 100% - thank you

So need to get a few things off my chest. Today we went for a meal here. The food was lovely, the staff were lovely. We asked the manager how it had been since reopening and she said up and down and they are struggling a bit with negative feedback. I think people need to realise pubs and restaurants have been completely thrown under the bus through this. They are working at 50% capacity. So yes, service was a little slow at times but do you know what, they were doing their best. Food was great, staff were great. Get behind your local pubs and stop expecting rapid service when its table service outdoor only. We had a great time and you're all doing brilliant so will be back

We had booked a table for 8pm however upon arrival we were told that our table was not currently ready and asked to wait in the garden whilst our table was prepared, however 90 minutes later we were still sat in the garden after asking several members of staff when it would be ready. After this we left disappointed after waiting almost 2 hours for our table we had booked weeks in advance.

Service was well non existent, was there 30 minutes before someone took our order and then another 10 minutes waiting , in the end we walked out without even having a drink . Yes I accept there may be a bit of a wait but 30 minutes , will not be going there again

What a waste of £100. Really disappointed in our visit today. Literally a catalogue of rubbish’ness all round. I actually felt sorry for the young lady that was serving us. Arrived and ordered drinks, 6 of us in total, after a 20 minute wait I asked where our drinks were and she said she’d check, she didn’t she went off in another direction. 30 minutes later 4 out of 6 drinks arrived the other 2 took a further 20 minutes. All this while a group of around 30 people all got drinks much much faster. Ordered food, they cocked this up too, again 4 out of 6 came no sign of the other 2 after waiting a further 20 minutes we cancelled the other 2, everyone else had finished theirs. The other 2 sandwiches then came out. We asked for the bill and left to go to the Ivy House next door. Much better. Plastic glasses, port-a-loos and staff with no idea of what’s going on with clearly very little training and knowledge. Dreadful really considering the hype. We won’t be retuning as lots of other establishments are happy to do what they are supposed to do.

We arrived at around 8pm, and waited a while for our first drinks, which is understandable given the circumstances. We doubled up on our first order so the staff would have had time to serve others and circle back. We received no other drinks tonight. We understand our table was in the dark at the bottom of the garden, and we also expected a longer wait for our drinks. This said, we watched as another table further back received two rounds, and when we tried to get the attention of anyone nearby we were ignored.After 45 minutes of waiting with empty cups I had to leave my table to ask someone to serve us. Our order was then taken and forgotten. 15 minutes later we left. I let a member of staff know to cancel our drinks and she seemed surprised and told us she thought we had been given them. It was a waste of a night and the only reason we had more than one drink is because we ordered them at the same time. It’s a shame because we assumed a venue as esteemed as this would be organised enough at this point to manage a beer garden successfully.

We visited tonight and I’m not sure what went wrong but it was a complete and utter disaster. Everybody was complaining about the service and food which resulted in 2 members of staff ended up in floods of tears.We arrived at 6.30pm to be seated at a dirty table, covered in sauce/spilt drink and the man who seated us (looked like management) didn’t offer to clean or didn’t even notice, not great considering the current pandemic. No track and trace details were asked for nor were there any signs/barcodes for us to do this either.

This was our first meal out after Lockdown and we were eagerly anticipating some lovely food after hearing good reviews from friends and family. The set up was great, an outside bar with music playing in the background- you could see that the management had spent a lot of time and money preparing this, which was great. Unfortunately the food and service let them down. I know staff have been absent from work for a prolonged period of time, but it took the staff over 20mins just to take our drinks order despite there being only around 5 other tables in our area and this was only taken after I asked the member of staff if we could order. I would completely understand if they were rushed off their feet, but to be honest it seemed like our main waitress was more interested in talking to her friend in the corner than serving us. Meal orders were then taken around 20mins on again. The food came out quite quickly to be honest- quicker than the drinks! But the chicken on the kebabs was quite dry, the burger sauce on the BBQ burger was completely over powering and the garlic bread was burnt. This would have been mentioned to the waiting staff, but they did not table check us.Overall the setting is great and would be brilliant for casual drinks out with friends, but I wouldn’t be willing to pay the prices they charge for the poor service and average food. We visited on the first day of reopening after the latest lockdown. A great deal of preparation had been done with an open-sided marquee put up. Service was attentive & friendly. Menu was more extensive than we expected, inc. dishes that our vegan and gluten-free family member enjoyed. I recommend. There were some heaters, but it would be better if there were more

Highly recommend the chicken tikka kebab with onion Bhaji’s or the teriyaki steak as there both delicious and cooked to perfection. The only way I can describe the chips are imagine having McDonald’s fries with a KFC lol but seriously they are delicious! Definitely will visit in near future.

Absolutely gorgeous! Went for a family meal and had seafood platter as a sharer to start which was amazing! Main meals were a mixture of fillet steak - which was cooked to perfection! Pie and mash which my parents said was perfect! Chicken tikka hanging kebab - gorgeous, pasta and a Thai green curry which was beautiful - we will definitely be returning - a really good meal - thank you!

My family and I come here often for a meal, and every single time we are not disappointed, food is always spot on, service is prompt and the staff are so friendly, Covid precautions are as they should be and the price for the standard of food Is more than reasonable. Would not hesitate to recommend. Keep up the good work!!!! Xx

Went here with my boyfriend and left feeling very underwhelmed. Luckily we were sat at the back so we wasn’t cramped in with everyone else at the front during a pandemic. Didn’t take too long to get served our food, the starter was really nice but the chicken burger we had for our main didn’t taste of much other than grease and the chips were soggy. When we asked for the bill we sat waiting for 25 minuets for them to bring it over and in the end we went to the desk to pay. Overall the whole place felt very off and I wouldn’t go here again.

We visited for lunch, the food was gorgeous we both had a sandwich, which was served with fries and a really lovely salad, desserts were amazing,the sticky toffee pudding was divine as were the profiteroles.We were seated quickly and the service was extremely attentive, nothing too much trouble with very friendly, professional staff. As for Covid 19 restrictions this was fine all regulations being followed, pubs have strict rules and know they face hefty fines etc if they don't adhere! Plus with these difficult times they are trying really hard to keep businesses afloat and this must be so stressful, keep up the good work. Loved our visit and we will return Thank you.

We went to the New Masons Bar & Grill for lunch - it was absolutely lovely. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The service was excellent as was the cleanliness & atmosphere. Our food was 5 ***** and the whole experience was perfect. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely afternoon out in gloomy times. Can’t wait to go again!

Visited this week for my sons birthday. Amazing food, amazing service. All staff followed social distancing rules and wore masks. Fisherman’s platter to start was better than described! Can’t wait to go again as there was so much choice. Most places atm advertise on website and when you arrive it’s a limited choice. However as a pescatarian I was spoilt for choice and can’t wait to go again!! Fab night

Lovely meal although had to wait ages for our drinks. When it came to paying they refused flat out to accept an Irish £20. It's sterling wirh Queens head on and it is legal tender, luckily we had an English note.The bank will honour these notes if accepted. Will not be going back again

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants but after going this week we won’t be going back. No social distancing in place and when we asked to be moved we were questioned by the manager. He was rude and raised his voice stating that he had stuck to the guidelines and his tables were 2 metres apart, then he changed it to 1 1/2 metres then he said they were 1 metre. If I would of reached out my arm I would of touched the other diners on both sides. He said that he had to make a living, obviously didn’t give a damn for his customers safety ‍♀️

Although the food was good, the wait for it was too long. Chaotic service with the drinks. Main problem for me is Covid security. The tables are too close together, too many people in the room for my liking, customers unchallenged when walking about without masks, food being sent to wrong table. I just felt anxious the entire time and we very rudely spoken to by the young male member of staff as we left. His attitude is simply appalling. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

We had a wonderful time, the food was amazing....the staff were polite and extremely attentive. I highly recommend this little gem but would suggest booking a table as quite busy.

We cannot understand why this place has had some bad reviews as this was not our experience at all. The staff were very friendly and the service efficient. Our meals were beautifully presented and hot and there was no wait, even though the restaurant was full. There was an extensive and imaginative menu and a substantial choice of drinks. It was also such a pleasure to eat somewhere where the music was at a volume which allowed us to hear ourselves and the waiters speak without having to shout. We felt very Covid secure compared to some of the places we have been to and very much appreciated the Eat Out to Help out Discount, even without which the meal would have been excellent value for money. We shall certainly be returning.

Went there as been let down by our regularl pub . Food was first class, room and covids regs were spot on. Service was great, very friendly staff. Few drinks with our meal and not to bad just over hundred quid for 4 of us with 2 rounds of drinks . Will be going again very soon .

Ate in the new masons bar and grill on Saturday and want to say food excellent, restaurant staff delightful however, you need to teach your front of house staff some etiquette on how to speak to customers, the young guy with a beard and glasses on how he spoke to customers as I was leaving was simply dreadful and he should be spoken to about his dreadful attitude to customers

Absolutely disgusting social distance measures. No tables removed. No spaces between families all bar half a metre. The rule of six does NOT apply here. Came in to find a PARTY of at least 17 individuals enjoying a lovely get together but making my visit slightly nerve wrecking. Staff not attentive at all. Long wait as you can expect when they are catering for a large group of people having a great time as the rule of six didn't apply. I will now wait for my track and trace app to alert me that I have been in contact with someone with covid. Disgusting. Only plus was the food was ok and my company. Give your heads a good wobble..... One star as no option for zero...

Used to love this place, don’t know what’s happened! Slow service and terrible food. My Mom had the fish food starter, the salmon had gone off (they tried blaming this on the marinade). I had the fish cakes which were very oily, two hours later it’s all I can taste! To top it off, there place was dirty... snail next to us on the wall. Won’t be returning!

This is the 3rd time this year we have ate at the Masons and probably the last now. All 3 occasions the food has been “alright” which wouldn’t be so bad if the prices reflected that but they don’t and I would say 25% more expensive than most places in the area.It is such a lovely place to have a drink but I don’t mind paying those prices as long as it is worth it but £23 for a steak or £15 for a Sunday dinner and is microwaved veg then it is not value for money. I find their pricing is in the same price bracket as The Trooper in Lichfield yet the difference in quality of food compared to there is miles apart.

We ate here last week. My husband ordered the hanging kebab and I ordered the steak. After a terribly long wait for our drinks our food finally arrived. My husbands hanging kebab was some what of a child's portion and chips tasted like fish. My steak was like rubber and not cooked to how I liked. We will not be returning it's definitely not value for money which is such a terrible same as me and my husband are new to the area. Their staff also need to learn some manners.

Arrived 10 mins early and were seated immediately as they weren't full. After a long wait our order was taken. The drinks took a long time to arrive and the food even longer. We needed to ask for the chips that had been missed off a meal. The meal was nice and we thought we might try a desert but we decided to give up as no one came to take the order even though 4 staff were chatting behind the desk. We consider 1 hour and 25 mins is far too long to be served with a single (main) course. For Covid 19 the tables are too close in the lower level especially the two tables as you walk in and had we been offered one of those we would have refused. One waitress also wore her mask below the nose.

Not impressed, the service and food was awful, took to long? It wasn’t even busy, onion rings l had to ask for them and l already ordered them, plus they said bread and butter with fish and chips, which we didn’t get not happy

We went for our dinner on a Wednesday evening, absolutely no social distancing in this place whatsoever, tables positioned so close to each other, the couple sitting on the table next to us might as well as sat with us. Could hear their conversation and vice versa. Food average to be honest. Wouldn’t go again whilst Covid is about.

Lovely food, good staff, nice cocktail. Sirloin steak served with mushroom tomato and chips just lovely. The others had barbeque burger and chicken kebab also thoroughly enjoyed. Deserts Lovely also went down a treat Lovely setting Well done!......I highly recommend

Booked Friday evening at 5.30 and wasn’t busy at that time. Young man took our drinks order promptly and then our food order. Waited about 30 minutes for food to arrive which was long considering not many people in there. Had to call waiter over to order another drink which he then forgot about and had to tell him again. When he came back he just plonked the glass on the table - no apology. Tried to take our plates before we had finished- again no apology. When asked for the bill he gave us the wrong one - no apology. Service in here is terrible and the staff need to learn some manners. Won’t be returning

The drinks were great and were delivered quickly. The young man behind the bar (freckly man) was attentive and polite and the older man had a wealth of experience. I could see them working well together while I watched the football. It was a pleasure to see and it made my night.

Visited with a friend and our 6 month old babies, we pre-booked , but were giving a booth which doesn’t accommodate two high chairs, we asked to move as there was plenty of other tables and we were offered another booth or a table of two and the space between the tables isn’t at a social distance distance to other tables at all! Eventually we got a table by the bar, which was much better. The food was very disappointing, even with the eat out to help out discount it wasn’t worth the money at all! The chicken on the hanging kebab was pink and cold. The waiter just said well it would of been probed, After it was taken back to the kitchen my chips were brought back out and the waitress said you maze well keep those, so I had to eat my chips separate to the other half of the meal! When it was brought back out it each piece of chicken I had broken up to check the middle had just been put back together and place through the skewer and warmed up, Even after this, I still found blood on my chicken! I just think this is total bad service! And after this experience probably won’t be returning!

Just wanted to say I was really disapointed with the whole experience tonight. There are hardly any covid 19 measures in place, no social distancing, hardly any hand sanitizer to use. Feels like nothing layed out differently pre covid.As for the food well there was hardly any choice as everything we wanted was sold out. One meal arrived 20mins after everyone else wished they would have advised us before sitting us down that they had only a limited food selection to make the choice if we wanted to order. All I can say is dont waste your money. Choose somewhere else, they need to take less bookings and have more stock and be able to keep up with the food and drink orders. Not what I expected.

Came for lunch as they have extended the EOTHO scheme, we were seated but waited about 15 mins before anyone came to the table only 1 other table in, ordered but were told they didn't have the main 3 off us wanted so picked something else, then as we waited for our starters we were told 1 off those were not available so chose something else, starters were really nice to be fair the Chicken and Chorizo scotch eggs were really tasty so was the Camembert, although the Bri wasn't hot enough so didn't melt, but was an hour into our meal an had only had starters, the mains were really nice i had Pork Belly, there was an issue with 1 of the mains so was taken off the bill that we were impressed with the outcome and a free dessert for the inconvenience as we didn't want the meal replaced as the others had nearly finished, desserts were ok my Apple and Blackcurrent crumble didn't have much taste, all in all £30 for 3 courses and 2 drinks is really good and the starters and mains were really tasty so we will visit again, service was friendly and helpful just a little slow.

I have reviewed alot of restaurants but sorry on Google not trip advisor......this restaurant always serves great food and its defiantly worth waiting for and value for money is outstanding.We have always had a good service by the staff even when they are really busy. This pub is independently owned and needs support so if other reviews are moaning about social distancing don't book on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when its eat out help out.I would like to thank the hard work the staff at this pub have put in to bounce back in these hard times.

Visited 22nd of August with friends for dinner. The staff were very attentive from start to finish.The food was delicious scotch egg and chicken wings to start with curried lamb kebab and pork belly.With drinks and Irish coffees total cost just under £200 for the four of us Many thanks.

When are you guys going to realize you don’t know how to run a restaurant. Can take zero criticism, don’t learn from your mistakes and block anyone who does have an opinion on your food leaving only the very few good reviews. Close your doors and stick to what you know. At the very least get rid of the swinging cardboard kebab.

had an amazing night out with family, service and food was brilliant couldn't fault it,most definitely recommend the new Mason to my friends.

Went for a meal with 7 other people booked for 19:00 last night. Seated very fast and orders taken by a welcoming lady with glasses. She made sure through the night we were looked after. Food came out very quickly and have to say was the best cod I’ve had in any restaurant. The steak looked amazing and one of our party had the fish cakes which looked incredible. Do not take any notice of the reviews below, I did not feel unsafe or at risk and all 7 dishes cooked to perfection. We followed up with deserts which for the money were very large.Staff consistently checked we were ok despite having a full restaurant which just shows the level of service they give. Will definitely be returning again for a meal. Even though we went on a night that wasn’t 50% off, we didn’t mind paying as we had an excellent meal.

We booked with one days notice to celebrate something , and it didn’t disappoint , champagne was waiting for us at the table , food was delicious and service was excellent ,the atmosphere was lovely so after dinner we decided to stay for cocktails in the bar area , will be coming back. Again very soon

I have been to the New Masons a few times recently and not once has it disappointed me. The service from the young bar man is exceptional; he is polite and efficient. I ordered THE ULTIMATE BBQ Burger, and it don’t not disappoint. The young waitress was polite and pleasant. It’s a well run establishment and their food will not disappoint you! I will be recommending this place to all my friends and family. Thank you to the new masons for making every trip worthwhile.

I had booked a table here for 8:30, we were told our table wasn’t ready and to wait in the bar area, that wasn’t a problem as it was clearly very busy. What I was not impressed with was the dirty bar tables we were made to sit at, sticky surfaces, glasses everywhere, clearly not sanitised or cleaned after the previous customers!!! Once we was seated and ordered starters and mains, the starters came of nachos and chicken wings, we had to get up ourselves to go to the waitress at the front to ask for napkins, we were given no cutlery or napkins with our starters! The nachos were burnt and the wings were RAW!! As you can see from the picture. We told who I believe to be some sort of manager to be told they would of reached temperature so they are cooked!! These are quite clearly not cooked. No apology or nothing, and she left them sitting at our table for another half an hour after obviously telling her we won’t be eating anymore. Then our mains finally arrived at 10:20 after being seated at 8:30, and this was clearly the case for other customers who I saw was complaining about the wait also, I understand it was busy but this terrible service has happened on 2 occasions now and after this experience we will not be returning.

I don’t consider myself particularly Covid scared but compared to other places I’ve been recently this was quite shocking. Bar - there was no protective screenStaff - there was no wearing of either masks or visorsTables - none had been removed to give greater distance between themCleaning tables - as one family left a table in the bar area no attempt at sanitising it was made before we sat at it (kept drink in hand - not touching furniture) We’d booked a table before ‘eat out to help out’ was announced but as it was a Wednesday it was heaving. Also deliberately chose a privately owned venue as it seemed the right thing to do at this time but was so disappointed.We decided not to stay and eat as it just didn’t feel safe.

A few of our friends recommended this place due to having such a lovely meal but I will never ever return after my visit.We booked a table at 8:45pm (only time available as it was on a Tuesday & with the eat out to help out scheme understandable) we arrived at 8pm as we said we’ll have a few drinks with our friends before our booking. The fridges behind the bar were empty so didn’t have much choice to choose from but we managed to get some drinks & sat outside until our table was ready. At 8:45 I went to check if the table was ready to be told “not quite someone will come & get you when it is” fine by us it was busy so we understood! After waiting for 20 mins & no one coming to fetch us I went into find out if it was & eventually half hour after our table was booked we eventually sat down. We eventually ordered all our starters & mains. They didn’t have my starter & I didn’t fancy having anything else again not a problem it was busy I can understand if it’s a popular starter it may run out. This is when the problems started we waited nearly half hour for starters to arrive & some was cold but my partner had chicken wings & they were very nice! After our starters were cleared we waited nearly 50 minutes for our mains to arrive & that was only because I went up to ask where they were as it was taking such a long time. Finally our food arrived by a young gentlemen who was extremely rude. One our friends steak was over cooked, my partners chicken was really dry, another friend had fish cakes which were cold & I had fish & chips which didn’t look appetising. The chips were not triple cooked chips & were full of grease & my fish had no fish in & was tasteless. I went & asked for a manager to come over as we were extremely unhappy especially after such a long wait. The lady come over & we explained the issues which she did apologise for. However after that she just kept giving us excuses as to why the food & wait was like it was. 1st it was because they were understaffed (I can appreciate this) 2nd because it was busy 3rd because of the government offering 50% The 3rd was utterly ridiculous because I work in a restaurant myself & I understand it can be busy & can be understaffed & I’ve worked during the eat out to help out scheme & I can understand it’s more busy than usual but this is not an excuse for the wait or the quality of food that was served. I will never ever return back to this place ever again & will not recommend it to any one I know.

Terrible experience !! Don't be conned by the mouth watering descriptions on the menu, it's nothing like it says, starter for 2, dried up bland chicken wings (obviously no marinade thrown in fryer) mediteranion pitta bread ,, nothin on dry as cardboard! Main chicken tika kebab with onion bhaji, again flavourless dried up chicken, onion bhaji (horrid dried up powdery middle, clearly cheap frozen rubbish) triple cooked chips never !! Bendy dried up!! Thank God for the side order of onion rings ! Lovely ,, won't be returning! Gordon Ramsay would have a field day in there especially at them prices !!!

Have normally drank at Mason's for some years so on Tuesday dropped in for a lunch. Given the menu but they said they would have to OK the table with the restaurant.After some deliberation the bar girl came back to tell me she is very sorry but they are not taking any walk ins. She was most apologetic but as I stated the restaurant was very empty and the woman in charge did not come out to explain it to me as she was so unprofessional. Went 200m to the Ivy House for a good meal.

First visit at the New masons since lockdown ended.The atmosphere is really nice,lovely decor and friendly staff.We ordered slow cooked pork belly and roasted chicken off the roast menu.The prok was melting in my mouth and was so tasty.My husband really enjoyed his chicken too.Definitely going to come back here for another visit.Thank you

Overall service wasnt terrible but definitely poor. Long waiting time for both starters and mains we wouldn't mind if staff advised us there was a delay. 45 minutes for starter then another 30-40 minutes for main.Starters was fairly nice well presented and enjoyable one was slightly cold but overall we could look past that. Main meal disappointing for the price and quality of the dish. We ordered - chateaubriand sharing plater medium rare 1 beef dripping sauce 1 peppercorn sauce. Steak was not the best quality for the price not cooked how we asked. Cheap frozen fries Salad was just slapped on the plate under the steak therefore making it warm . Tomatoes not grilled mushrooms not appealing. Sauce orders was wrong ask for the correct sauce swiftly brought out but came cold very watery.Only thing on main what was decent was onion rings. Told staff wasnt cooked to our request order she politely offered to re cook the same steak but declined this was off putting as steak had salad onit etc. For the advertisement for a gastro pub it is very misleading and overpriced. Nothing was badly wrong, just disappointing for the price and expectations of the venue

Had a fab meal here on our date night..the Morrocan lamb stew was divine with the meat melt in your mouth..my husband had the Szechwan noodles which was the right amount of spice without being over powering. Ginger Matt served us and he was great.. all in all highly recommended!

First restaurant visit for me since lockdown relaxed. Been meaning to come here for a while. The benue is really nice & it’s been kitted out really well. Tables a little crammed in so I imagine it being even tighter when the restrictions ease more. I had the hanging Chicken kebab which was really nice, could have done with more than 1 flat bread with it, or a couple of smaller ones rather than 1 big one. I did choose another item on the menu bug was told it wast available... they should have told me what wasn’t available when we were seated. They also gave my wife a dirty winw glass that we had to ask for to be changed. Food took a very long time to come out. Price point was good & I will come back, just need the service to get better.

Myself and a friend ate at the New Masons a few weeks ago. We were served by Mia, she was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food and drinks were very good also. Thank you for a great night!

Went here for a family meal, usually with food of this quality and presentation the servings are small, Not here the servings were generous the food was divine.Genuinely the best meal I've had in a long long time and great value.The atmosphere is friendly and intimate, the venue is beautifully decorated tastefully and the staff were all very professional and attentive, service with a smile does still exist.I look forward to going back to attempt going through the cocktail menu.We will be regulars from now on, cannot recommend highly enough you wont be disappointed.Served by Ginger Matt(as printed on the receipt). Sophisticated but with time for a laugh still clearly.10/10

Beautiful food and lovely staff, food was served promptly and presented to a high standard, all the staff are very obliging with anything you ask them for, And to top if off adhered to the social distancing rules!! not only did we eat there yesterday we went back tonight & have rebooked for Tuesday night, thank you 5 stars all round xx

We had such a great time coming here yesterday. The two ladies who were on (one with blonde/brown hair and one with black/blue hair) were amazing and even went above and beyond to get some more vodka after running out rather than just saying they didn’t have any left (which would’ve been fine). They were chatty and polite and lovely to be served by. Apologies I don’t know names! The food we ordered, though quite pricey, was definitely worth it on arrival. I had fish and chips and the presentation as well as taste was five star. The dining experience outside was also brilliant! I love the new outside area that they’ve created as a result of COVID-19. Just goes to show how far a business is willing to go in order to adapt. One qualm would be that the inside area is particularly difficult to social distance in. It might be better to have more regulated queuing or something at the bar, as I found myself quite crammed in at times. I don’t think this is the fault of staff though. They genuinely do all they can to make you feel comfortable. I would say that government guidelines need to be made clearer because there’s such lack of communication between the government and restaurant industry. Other than that lovely! Great staff, lovely food, brilliant atmosphere, caring and conscientious team members and beautiful outdoor area! Can’t wait to keep coming back and really appreciate the service we received today!

Regular to here for food and drinks, so of course as soon as it was back open we payed a visit! Food and drinks excellent as always, staff lovely and friendly! However, there was no COVID-19 precautions and no social distancing which has put me off for a little bit as it was so opposite to other pubs/ restaurants I have been to! So wondering how getting away with it but other than that I can’t fault it!

First time out for food since easing of lockdown. Made to feel very safe and comfortable. Had a great time and the food was superb. Mia our waitress was lovely too

After having a drink here a couple of years ago,we always said we would eat here. Its only took us until now but we will be back!Even with the new guidelines in place, the service was attentive,food fantastic and cooked fresh to order. 241 Thursday cocktails softened the fact we should have been jammin in Jamaica.... even the host popped on a bit of Bob Marley! The new beer garden looks fab and the whole Mediterranean vibe is great.Thanks for a lovely experience. See you soon

I went there on opening night after lockdown with a friend and Considering how busy it was all the staff did an amazing job, our 2 servers were polite and and friendly while serving us and the food came quite quick would definitely recommend!!!!

My partner and I had a lovely time at the new masons. The food was cooked to perfection, our server Mia was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant its self is beautiful. There was hand sanitizing stations throughout and we felt completely safe in our visit. We will definitely go again and cant wait to try more of the menu!

Day 1 of pub re- opening was celebrated in the lovely new beer garden. A fabulous container bar, great lighting and massive outdoor space with picnic tables. The mood was lively and friendly, bar food of onion rings, fries, chicken satay and the most delicious olives, bread and balsamic were a welcome foodie treat.With outdoor portaloos, plenty of space and a decent bar selection we sat outside all afternoon and had a great time. George and Ange are to be commended for creating a great, safe entertaining space!

I didn't realise food could be so terrible. Visited Sunday 5th July.. You would of thought with it being the first weekend of opening after a huge pandemic that they would of cleaned everywhere properly! Well.. The menu's were disgustingly dirty! Food on them, stains & sticky! We ordered 2 Sunday roasts & & they came looking like school food. The broccoli was so hard I couldn't get my knife through it, the potatoes were cold & soggy & I could of done with a steak knife to get through the beef, but would of struggled even then! Over all - Terrible!! Oh, not to mention absolutely no taste throughout the whole meal! The young girls were lovely & couldn't apologise more for the food, but the chef should take on some extra training! THE WORST SUNDAY ROAST I HAVE EVER HAD.

This was our first visit to New Masons, website looked great. When we arrived we could instantly see the beautiful decor, booths were comfortable and we were seated instantly.We were surprised when given the menus which were awful. they were dirty, sticky, stained and had black pen crossing out some menu descriptions. We also had the lunch fixed price menu which was on ripped A4, stained paper. These all really need to be replaced as really let down the restaurant vibe.The drinks options were very good, but cocktails very overpriced for Walsall. We had 2 courses of food, some was better than others but chefs clearly take pride in their cooking. BBQ chicken wings were good, chicken and chorizo scotch egg was good, fish and chips were good. The chicken burger was average. Service wasn't great - the waitresses seemed like they didn't really want to be there, we tried to ask to change an ingredient in the stir fry dish and was met with huffs and puffs and disdain. Would probably return for drinks if the drinks were cheaper but otherwise probably not.

A throughly enjoyable evening with friends. Place and food has always been excellent but in the early days had several poor experiences of service. Lack of attention and having to ask numerous times for drinks, water but last night was a breath of fresh air. The whole evening was great. Staff giving the right level of attention and responding as you would expect to everything we asked for, food was wonderful. The restaurant manager was a very lovely lady who was constantly watching the room and ensuring things were running as they should. She engaged with many of the customers. Keep up the good work. We are lucky to have this on our door step and so glad to see improvements in the service. We will certainly be using it more.

Visited tonight with two of my friends had the most fabulous food and drinks , staff were so polite and friendly and catered for every need , despite being rushed off their feet and some awkward customers still managed to provide great service with a smile , thank you

Had a meal there on Friday night and the service was shocking! The cocktails we were served had curdled and tasted awful, the staff were rude when we asked for the drinks to be changed and our food was cold when it arrived. No one came over to ask if food was ok until it was clear we had finished and when we said it was cold no apology or anything! The people at the next table to us said they were there for a complimentary meal as they had had bad service and had been served cold food on their previous visit. Contacted them through their link and have had no reply, very disappointed and would not go back!

I visited on a busy Saturday night and had the fillet steak and the salted caramel profiteroles. Both were amazing and the service was brilliant. The waitress always checked we had everything we needed and our food came quickly. I have been there before and I would definately go again. 10/10 from me.

Visited here for the first time for my partners birthday after driving passed numerous times and wanting to give it a go. Lovely warm welcome on arrival, place was virtually empty so got to choose our seat, was quite happy to sit anywhere the place was beautiful, lovely interior and atmosphere. Service was fast and helpful, food choices were lovely, but difficult as they have so many choices.Food was AMAZING! We both ate everything on our plates and both had 3 courses.The boy who served us ‘Matt’ was lovely, accommodating and down to earth.Price wasn’t bad, I’ve paid a lot more and not left feeling anywhere near as satisfied. I’d happily go back and pay that price again. If I had to make any criticism at all it would be to maybe dress the tables up a bit, nice candle etc would be a nice little touch, but that’s really clutching at straws.Like the title says.Can’t wait to return :)
