This place is busy with both takeaway and dining in. First time visit even though I’ve driven past it many times over the years. Had the salt beef bagel which was excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Worthy of a second visit

Lovely setting, food was good, but the overall experience was really let down buy the attitude from the staff. I had booked this as a treat for my wife, as this was the first time of her getting out after having major surgery. As soon as we walked we noticed the rude attitude from the staff, everything seemed a huge effort and the way they spoke to us, made us feel un welcome. Even the two tables next to us picked up on the attitude and behaviour from the server. And you could hear them comment about how rude she was. I can safely say, there is no way I would go back here.

We dropped in on our way home about 2pm. It wasn't very busy, but it was really noisy because the acoustics were awful. We waited to be seated -at the sign which said "please wait here to be seated" and were told to just sit anywhere. So we did. The same lady brought us a menu. Then we sat there and waited for someone to take our order. And waited... We only had an hour in the car park, so I went up to the counter and asked if I could put my order in. The lady said -oh I didn't know you were there. And said she'd come over as it was easier. So we put our order in. And waited... Eventually, a really scruffy lady brought our food. We had Omlette - it was burnt on the outside but raw in the middle. Pancakes - which were so thick they were hard to cut and had un-mixed flour in the middle. Whilst the food tasted nice, we just couldn't eat raw food. We won't be going back.

I came here in the autumn. I had tea and cake very nice. So I came today 11th August for lunch. Wanted elderflower water got springwater dirty class when the first drink was brought to the table. The server was carrying the classes with her fingers in the class. The elderflower drink was warm, and the class was dirty, dirty cutlery. My plate had a dried blob of brown sauce on it . The houlumi bagel was quite nice, but the rest of it was very poor. The salad was not fresh. I won't be coming back anytime soon . Great location looks nice, but don't judge a book from the cover. A waste of money live and learn.

Easily seen from road but limited parking, 1 hr at front. Open on Mondays unlike others closes 4pm. The coffee was hot and good served in a china mug and toasted teacake was tasty. Unsurprisingly at 3pm on a Monday was quiet and limited cake options so maybe unfair rating. Seating was ok. Service was friendly.

Great place to meet friends for coffee lunch or afternoon tea.. Only a 15 mins drive to Stansted to ideal stop off for airport. Food always lovely especially all the home-made cakes.. Its an hours drive from mine but worth it as love the atmosphere food and staff are friendly. Only fault I have found is when you book afternoon tea which I usually do they donot come over and offer you a refil or ask of everything is okay otherwise would give it 5 stars. Parking is only an hour outside or if you are lucky enough to get a space in the car park. But usually park over by the church and walk over as no restriction. Love a window seat here!

Lovely afternoon tea for Mother's Day. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Fairly priced. Only improvement would be to allow us the full amount of allocated time instead of cutting it short ten minutes early and rushing us out to make way for others who are next. Will definitely be back.

Went for afternoon tea for Mother’s Day. When booking, weeks in advance, we advised them that we have one egg allergy and one vegetarian in the group. When the food arrived, neither of the dietary requirements were catered for. I asked which of the food was for the egg allergy and was told they would bring me more sandwiches, so I asked what cakes were egg free, I was then told none. I wasn’t happy to spend £24 on a cut up sandwich so I asked to speak to a manager, she said “it’s fine, you can have vegan” no apology. My sister who is vegetarian wasn’t offered vegan, so had to miss out on most of the sandwiches, etc. When we went to pay, despite the child’s afternoon tea being £11 on the menu, we were told it’s £15, because it’s Mother’s Day, and they’re going to put the price up to £15 soon anyway! My son is 3 and £15 seems excessive for the little amount of food, Half the food from the child’s afternoon tea menu was missing too. It was a special Mother’s Day for us, and to be honest, we were not made to feel special at all, quite the opposite. They were obviously very busy, and good for them, but I didn’t feel like the service was very good or our business appreciated.

We had Mothers Day Afternoon Tea, and it was very busy, obviously fully booked, which while everyone was waiting for food was noisy. The tea came with some sandwich fingers, a mini coronation chicken roll, a mini smoked salmon and cream cheese profiterole, and a mini quiche. Followed by fruit Scones with jam and butter and some mini sweet treats. Food was all very good, the service was a bit slow, understable given that everyone was booked in the same sitting. It's definitely worth coming back when it's not so busy.

I visited the Village Tea Room today while cycling through the area and had a good experience. The food and coffee was decent. I didn't try the cakes (perhaps next time). However, the service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was very good. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and they made sure that I had everything I needed. The tea room is situated in the quaint little village of Hatfield Heath, and it boasts a super-friendly team who will ensure you feel right at home with them. The prices are reasonable for what you get, and the choice is excellent. The Village Tea Room is a great place to visit if you're looking for a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The food and coffee are OK, but the service is very friendly, and the atmosphere is very good. The prices are reasonable, and the choice is excellent. I would recommend the Village Tea Room to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I hope this review helps you.

On Friday afternoon (6th October) we used a Buyagift voucher for Afternoon Tea for Two at this delightful place in a lovely location opposite the green and church, along a small row of shops and restaurants. It was the closest tearoom listed to where we live and, although a 40 minute drive away, was well worth it. The very quick and easy booking was taken over the phone the previous afternoon. As soon as we opened the door and stepped in, we were greeted from across the counter at the other end of the room with the brightest and most welcoming of smiles from Daisy, who turned out to be our charming, friendly, polite and attentive teenage waitress. We had a lovely leisurely afternoon enjoying the beautifully presented delicious food and drink. We highly recommend a visit and hope you’re fortunate enough to have Daisy make it even more enjoyable. Thank you!

Would never use this place after the disgusting treatment my friend and her companions received today the service if you could call it that was terrible they waited ages to be served and they didn't get their drinks, told the girl at the counter when they paid they didn't get their drinks and the service wasn't very good and when they left the girl followed them outside and abused them something awful. Management didn't care! Disgusting place.

Had the most awful experience. Firstly the service was very slow. We felt totally ignored waiting to be served as people coming in after us were being served straight away. We did ask to be served as we had waited for about 40 mins. We didnt have much time as we had an appt to be somewhere. The food arrived without our drinks. Kept looking back to catch waitress to ask for drinks, but she was either talking behind the counter or serving tables. lt didn't look very busy. Went to pay our bill and explained we didnt receive our drinks. No apology, only being told that the young girl had only been there for a week and was a very good worker. Just paid bill and walked away. Girl came chasing after us accusing us of whispering about her, which we wasn't. Proceeded to follower us outside and was very abusive and swearing. She leaned forward and had her face in my husbands face and swearing at him. It got very heated. Not once did the manager/owner come out and see what was going on. She went back in the shop shouting at us to not come back. Not to worry we wont be. one lady was sitting in there waiting for her friend, came out and said she won't be going back there either.

Went for an afternoon tea curtesy of our daughter via a voucher. Celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. It was difficult to park with restrictions so we were late. The waitresses were fairly friendly to begin with, then warmed up a bit later on. Our afternoon tea was freshly made and there was a good variety of sandwich fillings and cake. I had to order extra tea after our coffee as we were forgotten about when there was another busy spell. Felt we had to rush it as we were only allowed to park for an hour as the free car park was full up. Its a shame as we would've gone back.

Booked afternoon tea in the private booth for a small baby shower gathering for our Mum to be who was coming from Norfolk. We booked for 1.30pm. When we arrived there was a sign on the door saying they were closing early at 2.30pm as another group had hired the entire venue for a Baby Shower/Gender Reveal. No one had called to let us know this. When we asked what was going on the lady said 'yeah sorry someone should have called you but you'll only have an hour then you'll have to leave'. In the end after a fuss and speaking to the manager, we were 'allowed' to stay for 2hrs. No discount offered as an apology, in fact, they didn't take off our £50 deposit from the bill, we had to remind them. It set a disappointing tone for the start of our celebrations. We happened to know someone from the other party who has booked the venue for exclusive use and its transpires our booking was made before theirs! Clearly they saw a better opportunity and no longer cared about our booking. Having read other reviews this is not the first time this has happened. Having said that, food and drink were all lovely (apart from the chocolate cake which was hard). A lady kindly took a picture of us all and gave us boxes to take left over cakes home. The booth itself was very pretty, with beautiful pink flowers from the wall the ceiling. It's a separate intimate space which was ideal for our event. Would I book an event here in the future? Sadly no. Would I pop in for a quick bite to eat, maybe in the future.

Decisions, decisions!! 4 or 5 stars? I liked it but I'm always wary of overstating the quality of any place I stop at when cycling and have lunch. Most times I'm hungry enough to eat the proverbial horse, in this case it was their big breakfast, and it went down well so that's a good start. I suppose there was an even better start as the ride leader had booked a table and it was set ready for our arrival. Ordering was easy as the member of staff was armed with a tablet and despite my wishing to substitute items things went smoothly so food and drinks arrived quickly. That's it, thus is a nice place with charming and efficient service so what more is there to say. If you're around the area do try it.

My only gripe - we had a table booked for afternoon tea for mother's day, and had to queue outside to wait for our table, I do understand space is limited, but not great when you're with someone with disabilities who can't stand for long. You're also limited to 2 hours seating, which is usually enough, but personally, when you want to relax and enjoy your tea, I don't like feeling rushed. Otherwise, a nice place to visit.

Great food, lovely location. They seemed rather short-staffed when I visited: they operate table service but didn't have enough people to actually get the orders, meaning most tables queued at the counter to order, which the space isn't really set up for. This made everything somewhat chaotic - hopefully that's not the case all the time and I got unlucky. Other than that, the meal I had was delicious and reasonably priced - so I still feel overall it was deserving of 5 stars - I'll definitely be back.

I was very specific on the phone about 2 people not eating fish (I subsequently checked this with someone else in the office to make sure it wasn’t me and they heard me clearly state 2 non-fish) When we arrived we were told where to sit and they took our order. The afternoon tea platter arrived and had 4 quarters of salmon sandwiches on. I went up to the counter and said it should’ve been no fish to which they replied they thought it was 1 non-fish eater but would bring me another sandwich. This took around 10 mins to come which was fine but was shoved on the table with bad grace. The quality of the sandwiches was good, plenty of filling and tasty, albeit quite small portions. The amount of jam and cream for the scones was insufficient for 3 people so again we went up and asked for some more cream and also a pot of tea because despite the tea being unlimited at no point did anyone come over, check we were ok, or ask if we wanted a refill. 15 minutes later no tea. We then realised that one of the cakes on the top layer was missing and there was only 2 for 3 people. We also weren’t provided with spoons for the shot glass custard item. I asked the lady for this and she brought the missing item and spoons over in incredibly bad grace. Her attitude made us feel like we were lying about the item being missing. Most of the food was nice but the amount for the price was poor value. Interestingly it wasn’t just us getting a very negative vibe from the staff or being surprised at the portion size. The people next to us were also commenting on how overpriced it was and asked if there was a refill on the stand. The response was “errm no. Order off the menu if you want more” They did which says a lot if you have paid £22 per head and are having to order more food! However, the most negative part was when we went to pay the bill. To our surprise we were charged for the extra sandwich. The reason given for this was that the 2 “extra” quarters of salmon sandwich were still eaten. Apparently it wasn’t acceptable for the fish eater to have eaten these, we should’ve left them on the plate. Hopefully they weren’t planning on serving them to the next person who ordered. At no point did they ask if we enjoyed our food which previously they have done. Our bill for 3 people was £69 which included the items pictured (plus the crustless 4 sandwich quarters they provided which are not shown) It is a shame, we are passionate about supporting local and were very pleased to have found a lovely local venue to visit regularly and use when we take clients for lunch. I fully appreciate that good quality produce costs money and I have no issue with paying that but the attitude generally coupled with the poor customer service and value for money in this case means I am unlikely to return.

Booked in advance for afternoon tea for a Hen-Do. The tea room is a pretty place, nicely decorated and we had plenty of room. Staff were extremely helpful and kind, the food was lovely. They went the extra mile to help me out with my booking and on the day - thank you so much to the team! Your hard work was much appreciated :)

Waited so long to be served, I left. Waitresses look at you and decide tidying away menus is more important. Indifferent attitude. Oh and you will need a magnify to see the very ordinary menu.

I'll be honest it's a tale of two stories. We first visited in September 2020, many months into covid, the place was nigh on empty, we were ushered out abruptly by a lady saying they couldn't accommodate my missus and me. We visited again last weekend and it was lovely, great views across the heath, scone, jam, cream and a pot of tea. Very nice

This is a Jekyll and Hyde place. Sometimes it's working well and food arrives promptly and other times, with apparently the same number of staff, you have a long wait. To be fair the food is good.

Visited Tea Room today. Nice surroundings and good menu. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time after sitting at a table and receiving the menu. When the waitress appeared there was no apology and our order was taken. Our drinks arrived complete with a badly chipped glass. Some time later our food was served which was ok. We sat with our dirty plates while we had another drink. Service was not good. The waitress was very abrupt and on leaving after two hours, we were still waiting for our plates to be collected.

Great little pub!! Worth a visit. Friendly staff and lovely and cozy. I bet it's nice in winter when it's cold out and you can sit by the fire with a nice a few drinks. Guinness is good too. Will definitely return. We didn't eat here and it didn't seem obvious they did food, we might have missed it or they may have stopped serving. Ideal pub for a nice quiet drink 👍

I always go to order for collection on the offer 1+1 free, very tasty pizza and great variety that suits everyone.I dare not buy their gluten free pizza since they do not 100 percent keep pizza free from cross contamination. Highly recommend Calzone Pizza 🍕
