Had high hopes but was disappointed. Chose a starter that was labelled vegetarian on the menu. When it arrived it didn’t match the description, and when I questioned it, turns out it was lamb. This was dealt with swiftly and I can see the online menu has since been corrected. Unfortunately, main wasn’t as described either. Ordered the halloumi shish, but instead was slices of boiled halloumi in a tomato sauce. It did arrive with the side of cous cous, but no salad or med veg, just some boiled broccoli and carrot. Very strange. Husband wasn’t impressed with the chicken shish either. In our opinion, overpriced and underwhelming food. Service charge added on without specifically stating it was optional.

Divine food, atmosphere and wonderfully looked after by the lovely staff. Charlotte the manager runs the show and is so welcoming. Great music too. 🪩 Highly recommend.

This was a lovely restaurant, the food is amazing full of flavour. It is an ideal place to go if you have a special occasion to celebrate.

Was there for New years Eve. I've been many times before the food is impeccable, the service second to none. Such a varied menu that would suit anyone. Great job team, keep up the awesome work. I'd definitely rate this as one of the best, if not the best, in Safron Walden

Elizza is under new management. Best cocktails for quite a long way, great food, and I am currently slightly vibrating from the great music. They have quiet restaurant nights, probably most of them, but tonight is a party night, and OMG it's fun. HIGHLY recommended. Oh, and best steak I've ever had. That may be luck, but you can probably rely on the steak.

Delicious food and excellent service. We had king prawns, penne arrabiatta and sea bass. Really enjoyed the meal and the dinner.

I ordered the 4 cheese pasta for collection and at first it looked like plain pasta then saw the white sauce at the bottom, it hasn’t got any cheese it’s literally like pasta with milk. They won’t pick up the phone through numerous attempts so now I’m stuck with gross overpriced milk pasta

Friendly, attentive staff and fantastic food

I'll start by saying the service is very good here - the team are lovely and attentive. Food - we felt ripped off, I ordered the halloumi shish for £17.95. This was essentially a plate of a few pieces of grilled halloumi, a little couscous and the "Mediterranean veg" was a tiny pile of onions and Peppers. Compared to other local Turkish restaurants I.e Pirico who offer a generous plate of veggies and halloumi for the same price, this felt like a very poorly considered vegetarian meal. My husband said the lamb shish was nice, but also small portioned. The bread came out later (almost once we'd finished our meal) so we received olives as a thanks for the wait, which was well received. Overall we won't rush back.

Overall, the service at this restaurant was extremely poor. Despite asking multiple times for tap water, we were continuously ignored until my pregnant friend had to physically go up to the bar to get it herself. Additionally, we were disappointed to find that the chocolate cake we ordered did not come with the ice cream that was listed on the menu. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they did not offer any solution or apology. To make matters worse, we didn’t get dessert spoons either, until one of the male staff who could have got them for us instead barked at a poor young waitress who clearly was quite new and poor thing looked close to tears. A cocktail that we ordered never arrived, and we had to wait an excessive 30 minutes to pay our bill. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for customer satisfaction is unacceptable. We left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with our experience. We will not be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend it to others.

Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Food is very tasty, even though the prawn in the pasta was slightly overcooked. Their octopus starter is divine. The Malbec red wine they have is nice and easy to drink.

Last minute stop in as plans changed on Sunday evening. They were friendly and accommodated us quickly. The menu was a great selection, and if it was so late, we would have had a few starters, as they looked amazing. I had the lamb shank with was falling off the bone, pink in colour (perfection), and incredibly flavourful. With well seasoned mash. FYI....no veg. Partner had the chicken shish. Again, the chicken was cooked perfectly with a great flavour. Cousin cous was cooked and seasoned well with a tomato base and an array of veg and some flat breads. We decided to have dessert and as they came out, they looked so good started eating it and remembered to take a picture after.....sorry. They have a really lovely courtyard section and a good music selection on in the background. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit staff friendly, food tasty and decore inside with sparkly( which I loved). Would recommend a visit. No direct parking just so you know.

Went to this place because of the good reviews. Ordered a Medium Rare fillet steak and this is what I got. It looks very well done to me and when I raised this issue to the staff, the staff insisted this is perfect medium rare: the outside is caramelised and the inside is ‘rare’. I googled some medium rare steak photos and showed to the staff and said they look quite different to what I am having. Yet the staff insisted again the steak is medium rare and suggested me to change to another dish otherwise I will be having another steak cooked the same way. Thought a medium rare is an universal standard but apparently it doesn’t apply to this place…

Chose this restaurant as it had gluten free option on menu. Very tasty food and amazing service.

Had a lovely lunch here for my mum's birthday. Food was great- great options and flavours. The staff were very friendly and helpful- allowed us to serve our own birthday cake and added candles and chocolate sauce on top for us as a special touch, will definitely go back!

Have been a couple of times for lunch and explored both Turkish and Italian options on offer. Food excellent and service really friendly.

Unfortunately our experience was not too good while dinning here. Grilled hallomi cheese was served cold. Tasted like it was grilled in the morning and sat in the fridge all day. Main course was ok but nothing special. We have been told off by waitress for not finishing starter as it's a waste off food. Paper napkins to start with and also my napkin from starter was re-used for main course. General lack of knowledge of how restaurant service should look like. Chair was uncomfortable. Pros: gentlemen (possibly the owner) opened the door for us when we were leaving which was a nice gesture. Can't say I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I definitely won't go back there myself.

Nice restaurant, large menu; Some Italian some Turkish. Very busy when we went on a Saturday night. Waited too long for our food. Meals were lovely. Lamb Chops, King Prawn Risotto and Lamb Koftas. *The waiters could do with some training on people skills.

Great food, great menu but didnt serve ale only served lager

Visited for the first time last night with 5 of my friends. We were guided to a great table by the window and immediately attended to by some very friendly staff. The food was absolutely delicious. My favourite starter was the baba ganoush, had a fantastic lamb shish main and the baklava desert was incredible - the vanilla ice cream it came with was up there with the best ice cream I've ever had - order that if you can! Will definitely visit again. Great service, great food and the interior decor was lovely. Another gem for Saffron Walden.

Very warm, attentive staff. We stayed until the very close on a week night and were made to feel completely welcome throughout. The owner(?) advised on some dishes and wine to suit. Staff were always on-hand and the interior was lovely too!

Service average or there abouts, food okay but, very small portions. They skimped on the salad and fries. Not good value for money at all! Our party of eight will not be recommending or returning to this restaurant.

Day of the week: Tuesday Starter: Prawns were undercooked. Mains:Veal was tough like rubber, def not fresh most probably from freezer or the chef have no idea…! Dessert: Did not bother due to first two disappointing courses. Cutlery blunt.

Called in on the off chance off getting a table as it didn’t look very busy. I can’t complain about the food or the service but I don’t agree with the 10% service charge. Maybe if we were a large party I could understand but there was just the two of us. I also had this issue when it was Lokma and asked for the bill without the service charge we left a small tip that I thought was reasonable but never used the restaurant again

We had lunch here one Saturday with friends while staying in the area. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and the food was all freshly prepared and delicious. We shared several starters, falafel, halloumi, octopus and hummus, followed by the salmon and a lamb dish. All were excellent. Finished with coffee and complimentary Turkish delights. We would definitely recommend.

We were there for an anniversary meal with our daughter and her partner. The service was friendly and the food was superb. A really enjoyable evening made more special by the table decorations and the special attention to our dessert. Our first visit but we will definitely return.

Struggled to make a reservation on the phone as there was so much background noise from other staff members talking loudly and laughing. I ended the call, not actually knowing whether I actually had a reservation or not. 3 Calamari rings with shop bought tartare sauce (confirmed by the kitchen staff when confronted) £8 . Lamb shish £23 was dry,lacked flavour and was completely underwhelming. Staff were pleasant, but nobody came to enquire how the meal was. Really disappointed and a bill just shy of £200 for 3 of us was enough to put me off from ever going again. Lokma, you should be ashamed of yourselves for serving Tescos/Aldi/ Makro (or wherever it was bought from) tartare sauce from a jar. Sheer laziness especially with the prices you charge.

We booked a table at Lokma for a family catch up. Firstly we was greeted by such pleasant and polite staff. Our starters came promptly with a mixture of hot and cold mezzes which were all lush. The mains & dessert was to die for all absolutely amazing. Cracking place a certain must try! Thank you Lokma team!

I booked a table for a brunch with my girls to have our first bachelorette meet and greet. We came to the restaurant and was greeted with a manager (“sometimes manager sometimes owner”) who has straight away said my booking is not there and that we should go because he doesn’t have space. I have phoned in a month in advance to book a table for a bottomless brunch and phoned the restaurant a week before to confirm that it has been booked as I didn’t receive a confirmation, they have confirmed over the phone and all was well. I then received a text message with a confirmation the day before. When I presented the text message to the so called “manager” he said it is not their number and persisted that they are busy with an attitude to brush us off and make us go away. I have then looked for the number I have called the week before as he would not believe me that I really did book, he then said “ooooh that is our number I don’t know what happened I don’t have you in our bookings, I can’t do anything we are busy”. He then went to look at his iPad again and said he has someone there in a name similar to mine and asked if maybe that is the booking I then said it must be (I did spell my name out to the person on the phone, who btw was too busy to give me his name (I asked for it twice before he hung up on me)). I have been to this place before a couple times and it was lovely hence why I wanted to book it for this occasion. The so called manager then realised he must have made a mistake and went ahead to just tell us with an attitude that we need to wait because there is no free tables to which I was on a braking point as he didn’t even apologise for this misunderstanding which was on the restaurant side and when my friend went to tell him it’s not fair for us to wait when we have a booking and they are not prepared he went on to just cancel the booking and said he will not sit us because we was rude to him… he was rude to us the moment we have walked in and didn’t think this was at all their fault. When I then went to ask for his name and spoke to him calmly he said if he knew who took my booking over the phone he would sack them on the spot (for what miss spelling my name it was him who was extremely rude) he then went on to pinch my cheek saying “I know you had a bad day I will sit you guys down go and get your friends ” as he is being mercy full … we was gonna spend a lot of money there and we were returning customers which the company Just lost as this was the worst customer service experience of my life and an event I was planning for a long time and looked forward to so much. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back there ever!! If you are planning an even you are better off booking somewhere else where you are not disrespected and dismissed for their errors.

Good lunch for 12.95 GBP. Perfect Halloumi (with sweet&sour sauce (!) but it was a good combination!). Chicken skewer as main and it was very good! Good service !

Attended this restaurant with friends who live in the town. Very busy restaurant, very nice and clean. Food was really tasty and staff very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend and look forward to going back.

Loved this place, great atmosphere, kind staff and the food was delicious! It all seemed pretty healthy too so if you're on a diet going here wouldn't be a bad idea! Alternatively if you aren't on a diet the food is fantastic with great portions!

First time I came here I have to say service was not that great. But despite this I decided to give it another try and this time I was very impressed, there was new decor, new staff which provided amazing service and food was very good. Overall a lovely experience the second time around visiting this restaurant and would definitely recommend it.

Week before Christmas and the place is packed. Arrived without a booking but they got me a table nevertheless. Service was fast and friendly, the food arrived quickly despite how busy they were. Food was plentiful and good. I will be back !

It was....ok. I really wanted to enjoy it, but it was just....ok. The grilled dishes seemed to be ok, but my veggie dish was bland (more of a stew than the advertised casserole) and without much flavour. The waiting staff also made what I assume were meant to be jokes, but came across as lightly veiled critiques: my unfinished meal was because it was "too healthy for me", and there was a really weird conversation about the different appearances of me and my wife and her family: nothing explicitly insulting but....very weird and uncomfortable. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and had a nice atmosphere, but the food and the service was just not what I was expecting, especially at that price.
