Had a fantastic meal out with my family yesterday - food was fantastic and the staff so v friendly and attentive - fantastic value for money - I would definately recommend five stars!!!

Great food at a very reasonable price.

Used to be a great wee place, but new management have upped the prices, halved the portions, and removed All quality. Food is bland, steaks are now fatty and tough. Came here for years - now would rather go to the local chippy. Such a shame. TripAdvisor should reset all ratings, as it's gained its reputation on what "used to be".

I had a lovely meal in here on 24/2/20, the food and staff were brilliant! I had a lovely steak for my main and the soup for starters. Waiters attentive and manager was very nice.

Yep thats right - they have gone back on their word and cancelled ny niece's wedding- 5 months before the event!!! They've been given the complete runaround by these people and they now have to find a new venue. Absolutely shocking to treat people this way!!!

Me and my fiancé booked the village steakhouse for our wedding in October 2019 with full reassurance that everything will be fine and that they have done weddings before. With only 5months till our wedding the steakhouse said they can no longer hold our wedding of 35 people for the meal and they could only host for 80 people for the meal. They had no information on our booking and didn’t even have our date in the diary. The 2 employees that were giving the responsibility of our wedding were fired for stealing and we were only told of this 1 week ago. They are taking no responsibility that they have literally left us stressing and running around for somewhere else which is impossible because its short notice. We were told that the restaurant makes £3000 in the 5 and half hours they are open and that’s why they cannot accommodate 34 people on my wedding day. Every time I have went for dinner at the steakhouse it has never been busy which again is why we thought they would welcome a wedding. I have worked in massive companies such as TGI Fridays and they don’t even make £3000 in the lunch time, so I don’t know why we are being lied to. The blonde women that has now been left in charge doesn’t seem to understand business as it was well established after our meal and add ons it would come to £1000 then the guests of 50+ that come for our reception would be drinking all night so 80 would bring in roughly £3000 which is equal to everyone buying only 10 drinks at £5 each so they would actually get £4000 which is more than there apparent nightly take so we don’t understand why this is happening as she doesn’t seem to think anyone would drink at a wedding which seems to be business naivety. She kept repeating that they would only make £1000 from the wedding and that’s it. The reason we chose a small local independent business because with the amount of drinks bought on the night we would bring in a lot of business for them but now our good deed is in vane as we are left without a venue. They would be such a great place for functions but under the management they have Pauline. I wouldn’t risk booking anything with them in case they do to you what they did to us. They had no remorse and didn’t even try and fix the situation they put us in which working at the customer service desk full time is horrendous customer service. I left in tears due to their uncaring remorseful attitude, the worst thing is they can just get away with it and there is nothing we can do about it.

Delicious steak cooked as requested. Service excellent. Well worth the money.

Went for dinner with friends who were visiting from EnglandHad the pre theatre was very nice and really good value Steak pie. Steaks. And the veggi option All were lovely as were the starters The two girls on that night were very attentive and pleasant

Christmas party day with DJ was excellent. Friendly and efficient staff, great food despite it being a function, and the DJ played a great mix of songs including the big Christmas hits.

Lovely steak, very nice staff, nice calm atmosphere. Would recommend this steakhouse to anyone fabulous.

Great quality food and friendly waiting staff. Cosy place and good prices. Sometimes the kitcheb forgets to put items on plate or doesn't cook steaks right the way people want.

We as a couple strive to seek out the best places to eat out for lunch dinner as we are of the older age of life .we came here last week and had steak pie and fish nd chips for lunch ..price was good but quality was rubbish .the steak pie was cheap gravy and frozen chips ..the fish was smelly and inedible although fresh fish ..haddock ..service was dire with young waiters too busy chatting at desk to a knowledge us ..wont ever be back here to a empty restaurant ..not the best experience we have had in any restaurant while dining my wife out

Went on Sunday at 5pm for Sunday lunch. We were the only people in. The restaurant was so cold. The radiators were off. The staff were cold too. We actually had to put our coats back on before the 1st course. The food was lovely and it was hot. We were so cold we didn't wait for dessert.. what a shame. They must be losing business for the lack of heat. Wont be back.

Had an 80th birthday lunch for my mum here. The decor is fresh and lovely. The food was great value for money and the staff were very polite and accomodating. Lovely day had by all.

There has clearly been a shift in staff and it shows! What was once a jumped up numpty manager who i witnessed arguing online and getting his relations to write negative comments since his departure on here, has been replaced with well mannered attentive and pleasant staff. Excellent service in here and the food was fantastic will be back again!!

Was here with a large party for a birthday whole night was spoiled , had a cold dinner with no veg and made out a liar,all manager had to do was check back camera to see that there were not four bowls of veg only three to see she had put the bowl on other table, will never be back !

Would put 0 stars if i could don't even deserve 1 star! Terrible service and manager is very rude. Went in with table of plus 30+ and ruined our grans birthday dinner with there poor people skills plus menu is rubbish and food isn't the best. Will not be back again!!!

Had village stoves which were good size and value for money the serve was very good and the staff were lovely and friendly will be back very soon indeed it was very good bar menu best in east Kilbride by far

I went to the steakhouse for dinner two weeks ago with some friends, it’s the first I’d been since it recently changed hands and the menu was updated and wow we were not disappointed! The new menu is absolutely lovely and portions are very generous - amazing value for money! It was so delicious I returned a week later with my family since I’d been raving so much about it and it definitely didn’t disappoint the second time around either! we had steak pie, fish, chicken balmoral, steak and different desserts over the two visits and everything was sublime.

Popped in tonight. Had a Chateuabriand. It was superb. We overheard Tomahawk steak was on menu but didn’t realise until we had already ordered. Will have to try next time. Meal, staff and atmosphere brill.

I’ve been to the Steakhouse many times and have recommended it to family and friends for having a low price menu but delicious food. However on our visit this weekend I was disappointed and can’t see myself going back. The prices have risen and the menu has changed. The service was very poor, we waited a long time for each of our courses. A couple sitting near us cheered when their main course arrived as they had been waiting 50 minutes. We had to ask several times for our drinks order. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy! The staff were friendly but I was so disappointed in the service and price increase that I can’t see myself going back when there’s so much choice in neighbouring streets.

My husband and I both had our retirement lunches here and were delighted with the price of lunch (£7.95 for 2 courses) and the quality of the food. We returned today for lunch and were shocked to find that a 2 course lunch was £12.95. It was a very limited menu and definitely not worth the money. The restaurant was empty and with the local competition I think they need to review their prices. We definitely will not be back at those prices. It is a lovely restaurant but owners appear to have become greedy.

Me my mum and sister came here for dinner before a show and it was really really good we had the tomato and carrot soup to start which was very tasty and also the blaggis starter which my sister enjoyed very much as well. We then all had the popseye steak which was amazing very very good steak although my mum asked for medium and she got well done but still enjoyed it very much it came with chips onion rings and some veg and it all went nice together .. the dessert was ok cheese cake with butterscotch sauce wasn’t my favourite but still nice. My sister got the caramel shortcake with ice cream which wasn’t anything special .. all in the meal was brilliant the staff were lovely and the place was very nicely decorated I will be back!!

Not at all like it used to be. Extremely disappointed with our meal tonight would gladly have paid the amount we paid tonight for the original 3 course the previous owner used to instead of the awful meal which was meant to be a steak . Lol. More like a glorified chop. Had I known when booking table that a new owner had taken over and not the usual value for money menu was taken off We wouldn't have gone. So my one time favourite restaurant will not be visited by my self and no doubt family again.

Went here on a Friday for lunch Service was great and the 3 course lunch had good choice and was delicious Piping hot when arrived and really enjoyed it Have been here many times before and always enjoy it.

Excellent quality Sunday roast as usual. I did notice a difference in staff and service for the better. The quality of the kids meals have vastly improved. It is now under new management which clearly shows with the differences in tonight's meal compared to our last visit

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night, and was really pleasantly surprised - we will be going back.

Had a lovely meal here last night, Pate’ for me and Scallop & Prawn for my wife, we followed that with the Chateaubriand and it was fantastic, cooked to perfection for dessert it was Chocolate and I had the cheese board, both were great value for money, all in all this was a beautiful meal and great value for money, we would def go back.

The supervisor on duty was rude and clearly didn’t want to be there today. Substandard food with a cheep and small cut of steak. Extra unreasonable surcharges of £8.00 for hand made chips, salad (no mention that it would cost more), a sauce boat (size of a thimble)! The desert which was recommended as being popular, was a burnt strawberry tart which looked straight out of Greggs. They then tried to charge for the deserts twice but my eagle eyed partner challenged it and the stroppy young man claiming to be the supervisor reluctantly corrected the mistake and that’s when they remembered the surcharges! Very poor and not going back! I recommend to stay clear of them too.

Sorry for this but we arrived at 8 and were turned away, it says 9 on open times, never be back and will not recommend, this place should be ashamed 8,30 8,45 yes not taking orders but 8pm is I but early, I was recommended this steak house,

Fabulous food, service and quality!

Myself and my bf went for dinner to try it out as its not far from where elwe live. Got a table for 2 to which we book the week before and told we would need to be out for 6pm as they have a large party coming in. Sat down and ordered a drink, pint of strongbow came back flat and couldn't drink, ordered a new 1 and same again. Started was OK but not much selection. Dinner was steak and had loads of fat on it and grease was poured over my leg. Desserts for me was chocolate fudge cake and caramel icee, cake came out and was hard with hardly nay chic sause and ice cream had loads of ice on it aswell as being vanilla flavoured. Feedback went to waiter and still charged us £65. All kids who were waiters were standing about laughing and joking very loudly when we were eating and came to 5.45 we got asked if we were ready for the bill as they were needing space.

Great value for money with a great 3 course lunch deal

This is a great place that I frequent to get a decent steak. You can get a steak from the Pre Theatre menu which is cheaper, as well as the standard A La Carte menu. The prices aren't too bad for a decent place. I'd say they're average. The food is fresh and cooked well, thoroughly enjoyable. The portion sizes are normal. A lovely pub / restaurant for everyone to try :)

We booked a table today to celebrate father's day a day early as we were working tomorrow. The table was booked a week in advance. When we arrived the booking clearly hadn't been recorded and there wasn't a table reserved for us. Clearly the resteraunt was set up for an event and we were seated at a table pushed against a wall and squashed into a corner. The server was clearly flustered and made no apologies for the resteraunts mistake. We sat and were given scrappy creased menus. My daughter showed me her menu and said what's that?! It had crusted globules of food on it! At this point we decided to leave as enough was enough. We will not be back!

Went for a pre theatre meal. Staff were good food was okay . But what spoiled it was the cleanliness . The wine glasses were had marks on them . The salt and pepper dishes were dirty we tried to swap twice but the others were dirty to . Window sill were we were sitting was filthy. And to cap it off the wall I was facing there had been a leak and the paint was Brown on a white wall and the paper was almost falling off it made us think what were the kitchens like. We looked around at other tables and they could have been a lot cleaner . The lack of cleanliness spoiled the dinner and the occasion sorry to say.

Enjoyed a great 3 course Sunday lunch for about £8. Wasn't really expecting great portions for that price. but was pleasantly surprised. Great quality food, well presented and friendly staff as well. Drinks were not too expensive either. We will certainly be back.

Table booked for 18/05/19 8:30pm, having been before & checking out the menu online we had already decided on our food choices. On arrival (to a very empty venue) we were seated next to the window which was open directly above the pub downstairs smoking area. We were given soiled menu's which we could not understand why there were differences on these. Anyway drink & wine ordered, we requested scallops to start - told they no longer do this - when questioned on the website menu we were told the old owner will not give them access to change this??? we then ordered the bruschetta & surf n turf sirloin medium to well done. Still no wine when bruschetta arrived which can only be describe as poor quality bread with cheese (not mozzarella) tons of oil & balsamic & very very very soggy! My hubby was starving & ate most of it but I did ask for my comments to be passed on. Still no wine..... Waiter returns to advise no prawns!!! That was enough for me as I could see (& you will note from reviewed below) at least two other couples dining were unhappy & complaining. I took the decision to leave & cut my losses & as the smoke was starting to annoy me also - had I been staying I was about to ask to change seats anyway. Still no wine.... approached staff @ till advised we were leaving & would pay for what we had. Spoke to two very young members of staff while waiting who were clearly miserable no doubt at having to be the cannon fodder for this poorly run establishment! Spoke to a couple also who had complained about wait & quality of food (see again review below) Gave staff the opportunity to get Manager - no comments. I paid for the two drinks we had and left. Will definitely not be back. Shocking false advertising on the website for the current condition of this place. Felt sorry for the teenage staff having to get all the complaints. Such a shame as this place was amazing!

Very disappointed steak was full of gristle inedible sea bass was tasteless and the dessert was like something from a tin we won't be back !

We used to come here regularly but t won't be back. After waiting 10 minutes for our drinks, my wife asked if she could substitute the whisky sauce on the chicken dish for pepper sauce and was told the chef couldn't do that. So we decided to order from the steak menu, where miraculously, pepper sauce was available.

This is the worst meal I have had ever in East Kilbride. We opted for the £49 menu which is 3 course with wine. The wine we choose had a supplement. Starters were ok as mine was pate so no cooking required

We had a lunch time fanily function here in April 2019. The venue is lovely, and very modern. The staff are AMAZING, and so helpful! The food is lovely and VERY good value for money.

We visites here on 14 april for a private large family/friends lunch. The food when it eventually arrived was good enough. We arrived at 1.30, starters took an hour to arrive and main courses another hour and a half. All in all not the best experience.

Great food, great atmosphere, reasonably priced food cooked to liking,friendly staff and all served with a smile.

We met for lunch and were not disappointed, apart from friends having the meat as they said that it was tough. We had the three courses for £6.50 and all had different courses. For starters most of us had the melon balls in a ginger sauce with coconut sprinklers - so refreshing. I had the pasta which was very tasty and not too hot. For sweet I had the Eton mess - fabulous. When my friend told the waitress that her meat was tough, she asked if they could get her something else - service was exceptional.

3 off us visited for the good value Sunday Lunch as we had been several times and usually excellent value for money. on this occassion disappointed. Although only 4 options for each serving 3 not available. Mains used to come with small amount of veg and roast potatoes and then an additional plate would come between 2 or 3 with additional veg and roast pot. mains this time only 2 smalls slices of beef and 1 half roast potatoe. enquired if more poatoes would be coming and told no this is new policy.

No record of our booking asked specifically for WW menu was assured this was ok. on arrival no booking and told don't do that menu on a Sunday. Dreadful way to treat customers. so fellow WW be aware of this establishment .

Been going for years. Always great value. However on a recent visit, which was the first in a few months, very disapointed. Hand made burger was obviously made by someone’s hand at Farmfoods. Stringy beef. Service was good. Price good. I’ll give it one more try n see

Nice place service average food and choice disappointing had not been for sometime and was looking forward had really talked up food to my lunching partner however really nothing to right home about so unfortunately will not continue to recommend and certainly will not rush back

There wasnt any beef or haggis left, no alternative! The chicken and lamb were rotten (all fatty; not edible). We ordered a Eton mess for dessert and it smelled like out of date milk, we told the waiter who smelled it and said oh okay, he took it over to the manager, who found this amusing! If someone had eaten that.. they would be seriously ill.. not funny at all. They brought the bill over, charged full price and no apology. I dont care how cheap it is in there, we will never be back.

We went to the upstairs restaurant for lunch and after being seated we were then told they couldn't serve us as they had a funeral party bloked in. We were asked to go to the bar downstairs. The lady serving was very pleasant and took our order but unfortunately throughout the whole meal we had to listen to loud and disgusting language from a group of men in the bar. The food was not great either. I received frozen melon balls some of which were still frozen and I was unable to cut or chew the lamb shank which felt like it had either been microwaved or reheated. My husband said the soup was ok but a bit bland and his main only ate some of the chips from his main course. It is cheap at £6.95 for two courses but you only get what you pay for. Such a shame as the staff are very nice.

This place cannot be beaten for price and quality. Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and had a great meal. Staff very pleasant and friendly too. Back soon.

The food here is amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection (even if the order was mixed up. We honestly didn't mind as we did order the exact same! Just different cooking requests for meat which you couldn't tell until you cut into it).

Myself and my friend managed to get a table for the pre theatre meal and it was lovely. The service was good and the meals were amazing. You had a choice to do a two course meal or three course meal. We had three each. It was a great atmosphere as it got busier after 7pm but still a nice vibe. Will definitely try again.

Can't beat a 3 course family meal for £7 a head.... Nice restaurant, 4 set menus for starters, mains and deserts.... Budget dining with a bit of panache.... Thoroughly recommend this for a choice to sit in comfort and dine in a village central location

Went here and enjoyed a lovely night out however the meal and service was different... the meals tasted fine however the portion sizes were small, items off the menu, we waited over half an hour on mains when it was very quiet and we had dirty plates infront of us the whole time we waited on our mains.

Very poor service. Had to ask for cutlery were told steaks couldn't be cooked they way we wanted and had to have it medium well. Steak was burnt chewy and very small. Had to ask for chips. People asked for cheesecake and they served cheese boards then were told no cheesecake was available. Staff were terrible stood around at the table or on the middle of the floor talking. Wouldn't recommend and will never be back

I was a bit worried about going here after reading the last few reviews but my partner had heard good things and insisted we still go,well I’m glad we did food was on point I had prawn cocktail and the the turkey which came with veg,stuffing chipolatas it was very tasty. The staff were very friendly one of the waitresses went over and above for us I think her name was Pamela lovely girl.We will definitely be back just goes to show I was nearly put off with reviews I read glad my partner insisted we go

Booked the Steakhouse for a family meal this week and was hugely disappointed. Firstly we were seated near to the door in a largely empty restaurant with a cold draught due to the door being wedged open by a chair. Had to ask three times for it to be closed but were eventually told it had to be kept open because of a new carpet. Having just had food served it was not practical to move tables - not that it was ever offered.

We booked for Xmas day as previous visits were good value and enjoyable. We turned up at 12.20 for the 12.30 sitting, after 30 minutes my grandson had to ask a waitress if we could have a drink! I also asked if we could see the Xmas day menu? Oh there are no menu's! Their were only 2 people going round the tables taking food orders, we waited 90 minutes before our order was finally taken, by this time several other tables had been served and tables cleared and reset for the next sitting at 3.30pm and we still had no food- this is an unacceptable level of service, when the food arrived it was luke warm bordering on cold and the soup was disgusting turkey soup was sour I didn't eat it, the main course had 2 small slices Of processed turkey swimming in a watery gravy 2 hard Brussels sprouts hard carrots and the most disgusting mushy stuffing I've ever tasted, no roast potatoes only 3 small boiled potatoes, defiantly not my idea of a roast dinner, the goats cheese tart was 3 very small tarts on a bed of green leave with 3 boiled potatoes on it what a let down oh and the taste of those chipolatas was sour and disgusting, when our deserts finally arrived we had to ask for spoons to eat them with.overall a very badly run experience and poor poor quality food, no wonder you had to pay up front - never again.

We had used this place before a couple of times. Overall fair experience which led us to book for Christmas Day. Party of eight. Big mistake. Four courses on offer. Verdict of diners: 1. Melon, very hard,not great start.2.turkey soup : disgusting ,worst soup I have ever tasted,what was that sour aftertaste. Oatcakes, chewy,tasted like they had been left out overnight. Rubbish.
