The Village Plaice in Walsall

The chips was stale. Ordered Dr Pepper got a cherry cola instead. Burger wasn’t that great

Ordered from here before and was nice but this time Mini fish was very dry could only eat the middle part could see by looking at it straight away don’t think it shouldve been sent

The best fish and chips we have had...lovely and hot on arrival we cant fault it

Way too expensive ordered a tinned roe it was like cut with a tape measure 8mm thick and chips were really greasy

such a shame time for delivery change x 3 times , had to call after hour to be told late , then food came with items missing

I can't eat them! 😫 I've not had chippy chips for 5 yrs since my regular chippy sold up! now I've found this Gem of a chippy! too be honest I'm making up for lost time! the chips are to die for. kebab meat is amazing & the fish is lovely! I have recommended the Village to so many friends.Thank you Village, your excellent! please DONT sell up Walsall needs you! I need you

Good food here, I go here if I'm working in the local area

Warning if you pay them by card. I paid for my food and was told that the payment failed and I was made to tap my card again and assured that I only paid once. When I checked my account 2 payments had been taken. After several phone calls I got to speak to Bobby who was apparently the person who could give me my money back. He agreed I was due a refund and promised to put it through to my account. Days later I am still waiting, as I was for phone calls. Hopefully my bank will now get me my money from the sloppy or sly "Plaice".

Fabulous food. Beautiful crispy battery, authentic black country Mushy peas, tinned roe which does not stick to the paper....a first. We all loved it...perfect walsall fried meal

What has gone wrong here. I did their first Just Eat, some years ago , top marks. Now it is poor. Burnt , greasy chicken, chips burned too. Probably not new management because I still love their mushy peas made the old way. I wonder if they are cooking to order to mitigate cooking costs, if so it needs reviewing. Keeping food above fryer serves another purpose, it removes much of the oil. Loved this place ergo I will probably try again.

Absolutely disgusting, wish I had read the reviews.... Chips were undercooked and pale, and the chicken was full of grease and stringing bits!! "Tendons and veins" I wouldn't recommend this place to eat at all

I ordered via just eat as they had pretty decent reviews, wish I had looked on here! The food arrived cold and it was just fully inedible, I tried a bit of it and the taste of it was absolutely dreadful I really wouldn't recommend ordering from this restaurant

Kebab was very greasy. Really salty and had a very bitter taste. I took 1 bite and had to throw it away. Chips weren't any better there were greasy and aldo very salty definitely would not eat from here again

Food was cold and the pie didn't taste right I had to throw my order away This wasn't the first time I have thrown my order away I only orderd again to see if it was a one off but unfortunately it was the same as before so I won't be ordering anything from you again

Excellent fish and chips, delivered bang on time by a friendly driver. I saw the delivery being made to my elderly mother over her video doorbell. Huge thanks to the driver for noticing she was having trouble locking her door and got back out of his car to help. Top man!

Nice team, clean and Nice place. Double Ch. Burger tasted like made from rotten meat that had cancer. Next to is CoOp this is better choise...

Nice food, good delivery but each time my order is missing something, the first time I paid extra for salad but it was missing. The last time they forgot the curry sauce. I’m not too happy about paying for things I don’t get and will think twice about ordering again which is a shame as the food and delivery is good.

Not as good as it used to be - Greasy, kebab meat is sometimes soaked in water and gets dry, bad salad, long service time, tasteless fish. Chicken not as good too + Good selection, nice staff I want this place to do well, step it up!

I stopped going here over a year ago, there is always something wrong with the order. Something is either missing, burnt, tastes horrible, greasy or the portion really just is not worth it for the price. Not what you want when you're hungry and paying for food or trying to feed the family. They have lots of staff unnecessarily which is annoying when your food takes ages and a high staff turnover for some reason. When the drinks fridge is not working they tell you after you pay and treat it like it's your problem. My wife went last week and ordered a large fish and chips which took forever. I went to King's which was packed and Nisa in that time which are further from our house, and got home 5mins before her. She didn't like the fish and was shocked at how small the chips portion was. I want this shop to do well as its our local but this place is clearly a waste of time and a sure way to be disappointed.

This is our regular chippy. My son will only have chips from here. Service is always fine and we enjoy the food. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about because I honestly haven't had a bad experience yet.

I love ordering from this place.....but please please please......don't ruin your reputation. Curry sauce has been watered down and tasted like water 3rd time in a row.....it really ruins the experience.....apart from that......best chippy out there at the moment

Fantastic pieces of fish and wonderful chips. A lovely texture on the batter and no grease. The fish itself was moist white and succulent. The portion size was very good. I'd certainly recommend The Village Plaice to any one.

I go round once every week at most and I ask for what I want, and I'm out with all my food, quick and simple.

Quality food, well packaged and delivered in good time, will order again

As always excellent. Chips are a tad soft, but it is that time of year again for the spuds. Fish very tasty, though smaller than usual. Love the Mushy Peas, different taste, far better than others...I presume they use Marrowfat peas and make their own, the baking soda giving them that extra.

Had fish which I’ve had a number of times before and enjoyed but tonight was very poor, and had a tangy taste which I believe fish was off maybe left out to long in today’s heat had to throw it away

The chips was soggy and the batter on the fish was to thin and no taste to the curry

Missing items and chips horrible

10 mins late but not unexpected since I live near the Scot Arms very busy intersections. Tried Haddock this time & was not disappointed. Chips were perfect, but no salt & vinegar. This is still a top chippy, and their Mushy Peas are brilliant.

Best fish n chips. Perfectly cooked chips- not greasy or sodden Fish wasn’t saturated in oil Curry sauce was spot on.

Top-notch. Piping hot, fish great this week. Too many chips in medium serving, enough for 2-3 people, I might need to reduce to a cone!. Love the mushy peas, they are different than other chippies & I am addicted to them.

The fish normally excellent was odd tasting & a strong smell ergo after a few mouthfuls I left it, later feeding it to the birds, who left it too, probably deserved 3 star. No harm done, next day I was fine and of course, fish can be difficult to get right. I shall certainly order again & seemed to be addicted to their mushy peas. Also, they need to add Southern Fried chicken to their Just Eat menu, I know they do it.

My 3rd order and again excellent, a mountain of chips too for 'medium', I might have to try a cone!. I initially thought too far at 1.5m for it to arrive hot, but three out of three have been perfect. There are 2 great chippies in a 5m radius of my home, this is one of them. The fish is always tasty, with that sea freshness, the mushy peas are brilliant, and great chips, even this time of year when potatoes generally produce soft chips. Will try Southern Fried Chicken next.

When the pub opened after lockdown fancied a cod and chips ... CLOSED ..at 21.27..at least open till 22.00 ..disappointed....

Excellent first time. A huge amount of chips will go for a reduced portion next time. The fish was great & the peas near perfect. This might be too far for me for regular orders, F&C do not travel well, but I will certainly order again.

Don't come here foods half decent but you will be waiting 30 mins for a fish and chips!!!
