started off with 45 mins delivery time and food got delivered over an hour later, we get to the food, most of the stuff ive ordered was not what i wanted/expected to be. Im not a person like that but mate, so frustrating .. was given loads of positive reviews about it and was so looking forward to trying but after the experience i got today i wont be ordering again, hope i havent hurt anyones feelings with my review, we live and learn 🍻🤝

New to the area and wasn’t sure which Chinese restaurant to try but decided to start with this one. Ordered the special fried rice and salt+chilli wings, rice was very bland and could definitely use w more seasoning and soy sauce but the wings were delicious. Will probably try a different rice dish next time but will be back!

The best Chinese on the island. I had Singapore rice noodles, chips and curry sauce and it was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef, thank you 😊

I'm not a fan of Chinese food, although I do eat it from time to time, when I'm left with limited or no option. To be honest, it's never been anything to write home about. However, after trying The Village Chines Takeaway a few times (though few and far-inbetween), I am forced to drop a review and cannot continue to avoid reviewing my experience any longer. In the past few years, I've had their food about four to five times and they have never failed to impress me. The taste and service has been consistent every single time! For the very first time, I ordered a variety of dishes this time round, as I felt I could eat a horse and I'm seriously left speechless! Not only was the food fresh, reasonably priced for their portions, but I am am always able to heat up my left overs the next day and it always tastes as good as on the night it was bought. I am seriously "bought" and I'm certain; I have found my favourite ChineseTakeaway and would urge "sceptics" to give them a try.

Always had a great meal very friendly and very knowledgeable with gluten free as my husband has coelia disease ( gluten free) Which they can only deep fry on Friday & Saturday other dishes apart from deep fry they can cook other day's aswell X

Not used village Chinese for a while and definitely won't use them again. Can't even cook descent chips. Not even going to bother saying the bad points, about the rest of my order

Very bad food chicken was very dry no flavour, not good at all. Won’t be ordering again.the chicken was shredded if I had have seen the poor reviews I wouldn’t have ordered from them.

Would never go back to the village again. They wouldn’t take payment over the phone so we had to collect. Got the order wrong and the girl on the phone was so rude more or less calling me a liar !!!When the food arrived it was one of the worst Chinese food we have had

This used to be such a nice Chinese! However after ordering our take away from here the other night I sadly will not be returning. The lady was exceptionally rude on the phone about ways to pay (seems to be a common theme from the other reviews), the food was bland, lukewarm and I can only describe it as gloopy. My partner said his curry was watery with no taste. The only positive I can say is that the delivery driver was polite and friendly. I’m afraid we won’t be ordering from here again.

Most tasty Chinese yet!! Flavours are amazing… one bad thing, they got our order wrong once and the lady was rude and wouldn't give us a different one/refund. The actual food is spectacular and usually fast delivery with lovely delivery people!!! 4/5

Used for years and has been mostly ok till now. Ordered for home delivery then went to pay by card. Was told cash on delivery, I explained didn't have cash on me. Lady told me to go out and get some then!!! Seriously rude so that's the last time will be ordering from there.

We have been going here for years and recently they have just been awful Got our order wrong 4 times in a row even when they repeated the correct things, we get just get attitude when told that they have messed up and told I read your order back! All I wanted to do is let them know just incase someone else had mine! Never again will I order from here!

Ordered recently at a friends and the food was Cold & boring.

Nice food unfortunately regardless of how much the order they still charge a £1.50 delivery charge then on top of that they also charge 10p for the little white bag they put the food in its a rip off

🤢🤮😡 OVER 3 CM LONG WIRE, found in my Sisters dinner, we was all hungry, so put it to the side and thought we will talk to them after. Once on the phone I explained the situation and she said it was from the scourer they use to clean the woks and it must of just been served up in the food "NOT WHAT I WANT TO HEAR" as I then went on to say I serve my 2 year old food every day and make sure there are no harmful contents in his food. NOT A GOOD ENOUGH ANSWER!! Really argumentative, rude, unapproachable and unapologetic! They went on to say "we're not McDonalds yo should of said something when it happened" Village Chinese, you are a takeaway service" They said they would refund the 1 chow mein it was found in!!!!! Im fuming!!!! I will never use this food service again!!!! Disgusting!!!

Never really review but honestly so disappointed. The food was really poor. Satay sauce was like water no flavour, Chow mein dry so was the rice. Didn't enjoy at all. Nothing we ordered was enjoyable what a waste of money.

I've been ordering from this Chinese for a number of years, collection and delivery, delivery is always on time and hands down best food on canvey, polite and friendly staff and very cautious and accomadating for your needs during this pandemic! ! Can't fault them

Ordered a meal from here, I didn’t have cash and couldn’t pay on the phone so was told to collect from shop to make card payment, I have used this shop before but have never done a collection. On arriving at the shop was greeted by 2 gentlemen who has said they had already placed there orders and was waiting outside the shop . I informed them I have phoned over and order but needed to pay, I didn’t see anyone in the shop so went in to make payment, I was then greeted by a young girl who Screamed out my OUT , OUT , GET OUT THE SHOP, and wait out side. I have never been spoke to so rudely by anyone. She was over the other side of the counter with a face mask on. So no need to be so rude, all she had to do was ask me to kindly wait outside and she will come over to take payment. I was so so shocked. I wish I had told her to stick her food where the Sun don’t shine. It was t until I got in the car that I thought about it. I will never order from this shop ever again. This young lady clearly has no respect for the customers

First and last time we will ever use this place. Food turned up cold after an hour wait. Rang and spoke to the most unhelpful person I have ever spoke to. Just avoid the place (and as for their reply. We have never used them since so don't know why they would say that)

Only ever used this establishment once. NEVER AGAIN. Food was of a very low standard indeed. Sloppy and far too greasy. Staff were rude, surly and pig ignorant Also. If you want Food Poisoning, then by all means try this takeaway.

In my experience with this Chinese i can say it’s the worst food outlet ive had the experience to use the staff are incompetent rude and have had to complain about the condition of the food was delivered with the lids of the curry and sweet and sour sauce open and all over my food but still did not believe my food was ruined AVIOD LIKE THE PLAUGE ????

Sorry to say this was the worst chinese I've eaten in a long time, the prawn curry just tasted of pure curry powder as did the Singapore noodles and the pork balls were fatty and tough. Won't be returning sorry.

Unfortunately Pork curry was laced with sugar. If I had realised it was a dessert course I would have ordered something else...

I have been coming to village for many years and have never had anything bad to say about them however tonight when the food arrived the chips were overdone. The fried rice and chow mien were tasteless and just really not nice to eat. However the pancake roll and curry were delicious.

Have been using this takeaway for a long time and find the orders quick , polite and helpful customer service. I have been present when the odd idiot tries to make a claim about a wrong order to try and ponce extra food. I put it down to too much in breeding.

We usually use the new manderine. The food is beautiful.. However they are closed on monday.. So we thought we would try the village chinese.. Omg absolutely disgusting.. The bean shoots were all grey and soggy the chicken balls were burnt. Bloody awful.. We slung our meal In the bin Stay away from the village chinese .. Yukkkkkkk

Awful customer service. Made a large order. Order was wrong, was overcharged too as never got what I ordered. When I called to tell them - not interested. Refused to give refund for overcharge as said it was my mistake not theirs. Not willing to change my order as said it was my fault. Person on phone was rude and didn't want to listen. Very unhelpful. I would recommend when ordering to check all your items and to check your bill as I feel this could happen to others. Recommend not going there. Firstly, now the restaurant now want to publicly accuse me of making a false order and being in cahoots with another customer. Both of these allegations are un true. I have better things to do- I just wanted to warn other customers about the experience I had. I would not recommend to order from here if you want your food mixed up and pay the price you expected. I don't not appreciate the deformation of character. I don't appreciate threats of going to local authorities. Just proves my point about rudeness of customer services. Spending money and getting this service.

been here twice, spent over £50 on each visit and have been sent the wrong dishes and been overcharged on both occasions. Returned to the shop to explain the situation to the manager and she refused to give any refund, then tried to discuss it over the phone and also was very rude and ended the call while the conversation was still taking place. Would highly recommend to not go to this place again as me and my family members will never be.

Had a takeaway from the village Chinese and they messed up the order It was a big order over £50 and when phoned to complain the service I got was disgusting and won’t be going back there again as they couldn’t be bothered to sort it out

Terrible food spare ribs burnt to within an inch of their lives, some of the ribs were so spare there was no meat at all on them. My partner paid extra for large portions of rice and shredded duck noodles and they were exactly the same as normal size....Will never use again.

Ordered from here on Saturday night....had to wait nearly 1hr or so but it was worth the wait cant fault the food it was very yummy. This is why they are busy

We usually use New Slow Boat as our local but its shut on a Tuesday, so we tried this Chinese out instead. The food was lovely and I like the curry the most. We will consider using this Chinese as our regular takeaway now on

I’ve been using village Chinese for years since they opened there but lately had last 3 orders been crap they gone from best to worst I’ve had well tonight’s was terrible spend nearly£20 rung straight back no answer so it’s on kitchen side and had to ring pizza place and get delivery at another £20 but I Shaw never ever spend a penny in there ever again john

Used to use the village takeaway all the time and even reviewed it here but last 6 months it has gone totally downhill.Service is terrible and sometimes down right rude.....food hit & miss with the ingredients terrible.....tried a few times to see if it was just a one off but unfortunately it wasn’t..... sad to say we’re looking elsewhere in future.

I often use this Chinese takeaway and the food is always good but today prawn crackers were spongy the chips were hard and looked like was cooked earlier in the day and re heated and the chicken balls were deflated hard on outside and tough chicken inside so was bad meal the rice was however nice but maybe uncle Ben made that shame though and won’t be getting anymore of my money again cos you pay good money for food and if it’s bad I will try elsewhere

Friends ordrerd from here on Thursday evening the service was great and the portions are genorous too. The Beef and Blackbean and sechuan chicken was our favourite, very tasty and I would highly recommend it. We shall be back soon!

Best Chinese takeaway on the island

Just tried here for the first time, amazing amount of food, and quality top draw. Set menu for 2 and really it would feed 4! Winner winner chinese chicken dinner!!! We will be back soon :) Update; Never order on a Sunday, did it this afternoon and prawns are burnt and rubbery and the curry sauce was like piss!

Noce food could do with more curry

My boyfriend went there to get some satay sauce - handed over a £10 and received £1.80 change as the rude woman ‘claimed’ he only gave her a £5 even though he 100% gave her £10 note. Refused to look at the cameras, and said he was lying. came back home to get the phone to prove and show bank statement still rude and did not receive our money back.. open up satay sauce and it’s stone cold watery looks discussing and tastes even worse. Go up there to complain and the rudeness I receive is terrible never experienced anything like it! The rude stuck up woman gave me my £1.60 back but still ended up paying like £8 for a rubbish sauce I will never be going back to the village again!!!

're heated over cooked food £17 for almost unedible food. Tried to call to talk about my complaint and the lady hung up on me and would not 're answer. Ribs were burnt and in a dry sauce and the oyster beef was greasy. Very disappointed

Wow... First time we've ordered and ate from here, but it definitely won't be the last. The wait was worth it. Staff were very apologetic about the wait but the food was piping hot and full of flavor, the freshness of the ingredients were easily noted by each mouthful... Thank you!!

Chicken Satay Skewers - Poor quality chicken, thin tasteless sauce Chicken in Yellow Bean with Cashews - OK but poor quality chicken Special Fried Rice - Rice undercooked Special Chow Mein - OK Price OK This is my first visit but will not be back.

We've tried all the take aways on canvey but this is the best by far....food consistant and always good (not too salty) and if delivered always complete and same great quality HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We were told would be about 45 minutes for a delivery and after an hour and a quarter called to chase said would not be long. When it arrived 2 main items were missing! Called them and ended up having to drive to collect meaning the rest was getting cold. Very disappointing.

Delicious Chinese food always hot and the staff are friendly

Travelling through Canvey Island and feeling peckish, saw the Village Chippy and pulled over . Chose from a good menu of UK and European food.

Overall a decent take away however ALWAYS check your orders and ask for the receipt as there have been occasions when food has been missing but they do not admit to their errors.

Short and sweet. Service combined with excellent food. Priced correctly and I very rarely say that. Try it on a weekday night then try it at a weekend. Compare the service. I would say no more than 3 percentage points splits it.

Very tasting and yummy Chinese. I have had food from most of the take aways and the village is one of the best on the island, just a shame the volume of traffic early evening delays delivery.

We travel around the country a lot with work & always rate a place by its Hot & Sour Soup. The Village has one of the best we've ever tasted - go try!

Visiting friends in Canvey Island so thought give this a try. The lady that took my order was nice and polite, service with a smile is always good after a long week. It was a Friday night so had to wait a bit because it was really busy. Definitely worth the wait, the food is freshly cooked and spot on! Unlike some I been to around here. That's probably why it was so busy. Will be back soon!
