The Village Bakery & Cafe in Kirklees

Lovely food, helpful staff shame there weren’t more people in. I had the small breakfast, tasty and proper bread for toast.

Had breakfast today hard egg burnt toast can't the cook who obviously can't cook !!!!! Se this before she takes to customer ? I also bought ham salad sandwich which are normally delicious and this had big off cuts of ham in chunks in the sandwich disgusting off cut pieces of ham are given to animals or thrown away ! Standards have slipped the cook needs replacing before she damages your business and make sure your offcuts of ham do no go in your sandwiches

Great sandwiches, wide selection and Rachel is so lovely and helpful. I would recommend this sandwich shop to everyone that likes good quality produce at a reasonable price.

Visited today and staff very friendly. Well priced food and drink. Large coffee only £1.20. Good selection of cakes/treats on sale. No card machine so cash only just to be aware but hole in the wall a short walk away so no biggy

I come here often and I cannot speak highly enough of the staff that work there especially Rachel.So helpful but I do find their range of food very limited for a bakery plus the opening hours are too short.The owners need to rectify this and make it one of the shops of the village.

Recently visited for lunch with my partner. It was quiet when we went in and we ordered sandwiches and drinks. We had been sat there for about 10 minutes when it started to get busy with various people coming in. After about half an hour we still hadn't been served, but noticed that everyone who came in after us were getting served before us. The table we were sat at was full of crockery and cutlery from the previous diners and no effort was made to clear it and i noticed it was the same with many other tables. The staff appeared to be running round like headless chickens. When I pointed out again (After about 50 minutes) that we still hadn't been served We finally got our sandwiches which were mediocre at best. When I asked the waitress for two napkins she brought them to the table and virtually threw them at us. Never again! Totally unprofessional and unacceptable.

I haven't been for quite a while as the service was quite poor on my last visit, and a staff member was a bit rude regarding my pushchair location. I thought I'd give it another go today, but we didn't even get as far as ordering. Entered the cafe ok, struggled to seat myself with the pushchair out of the way as it is a small cafe with as many large tables that could be fitted in it. I struggled alone with the baby trying to move a couple of chairs so I could fit the pushchair and highchair in as nicely as I could. Sadly I was met with the same staff member as last time who told me quite rudley to leave them space to get through, which was exactly what I was trying to do. No offer of help or assistance offered and it was overheard by another lady in the cafe who agreed that she was rather rude. We packed up and went home. I won't be visiting again. I fully understand the need for space in such a small cafe, but the staff member could have been much nicer and maybe even helpful. There was none of that Avoid if you have small children.

We decided to get a sandwich for the trip home and called at the bakery. The sandwiches are well filled and cost only €1.50 which is a quarter of the cost of the airport

I use the café facilities at the café when meeting friends and relatives for a drink and a chat. The prices are very competitive and the service good and friendly.

If you want a very traditional lunch at a good price this may be the place for you. Cheese toasties, BLTs, baked potatoes & all day breakfasts are all here- & at a very realistic price.

There was a strong smell of fried food in the cafe which was quite unpleasant . We asked for soup but it had run out, we asked for jacket potatoes but they had also run out. We both ordered sandwiches and these were very good, fresh with generous filling. The tea was dreadful made from cheap tea bags and the original small pot brought for both of us was inadequate . To be fair we were given another pot when we pointed this out. This cafe in the centre of Almondbury can only be described as a greasy spoon - cheap and cheerful!!

You must make it in your way to try this small local cafe and bakery. Even if you only have time for a take away sandwich you will be very pleased with the food on offer. Everything is very fresh and very reasonably priced for the excellent quality.Recommended- A large prawn/salad white teacake with Marie Rose sauce. ! Wow I can still taste it now.!!

If you find yourself south of Huddersfield at lunchtime and looking for somewhere to eat this is a must. A small cafe and take away offering freshly made sandwiches and snacks.Everything used is very fresh and there is a varied choice of fillings for the sandwiches.The staff are all very friendly and helpful with a sense of humour to brighten up your day!!

a friend recently opened a bakery & cafe in Huddersfield (in 2013) On a recent trip to the UK from Canada had the opportunity to stop in for a visit. Found it to be a lovely little establishment with fantastic baked goods and atmosphere. While I was there on a Saturday morning it seemed to be quite busy and very popular, so it's nice to see a friend succeeding in her endeavor :-) So if you're ever in the area stop in give it a shot its so worth it :-)
