The Victoria Bar & Restaurant in Brighton and Hove

It's been... EIGHT YEARS since my wife and I did afternoon tea here. Before tea, which was excellent, I had Bloody Mary at the bar. I still talk about it, hopefully all this time it's still made the same way - the mix was made on the spot by the bar tender. Hope to return someday.

You can't come to Brighton without visiting this iconic hotel. We sat in the bar and had an afternoon snack. BLT | Toasted bread, streaky bacon. gem luttuce. homemade £14. Smoked salmon & tiger prawn. iceburg lettuce, avocado. lemon. £16. And two pots of tea. Thought the prices were quite reasonable for such an impressive hotel. The service was good and we especially like it here as you can sit with your dogs.

One of my favourite afternoon tea I’ve had in the UK. I live in London, so I was obviously impressed by how reasonable the price for the afternoon tea. With the price (£38pp), we can barely find a decent place in London. The hotel is beautiful and so is the bar, we were sat in the orangery where we can see the ocean from there. What can you wish more? 😌 The afternoon tea menu was almost so fulfilling that I couldn’t even finish scones, and on top of the three plates, we also were offered a slice of Victorian cake. I ended up taking them away. Definitely worth the price, perhaps much more worth it than paying the same price in London.

Came here to have a sit down with my dad and my wife. It was a lovely place with gorgeous amaretto sours. The atmosphere was brilliant too! Will definitely come back🙏

We arrived in Brighton at around 9am but had to wait till 2pm to check in. So we parked the car and took a walk down the pier to find this place. Lovely and chilled, got a drink and sat on the deckchairs outside and watched the world go by!

The Lounge Bar was very friendly, drinks were not too expensive and the service was good. For an early evening dinner drink you really cannot beat it.

Went with friends for a special afternoon tea in the lounge overlooking the sea. Service very efficient with a selection of cakes, scones, sandwiches and quiche plus tea of your choice and as much as you want. Cakes and scones were really good, sandwiches standard. You feel they could make the selection more unusual as expensive! Far too much and one between two would be sufficient for most people. Good afternoon and experience.

We were a bit late being seated on the terrace, as they were still clearing up from the previous session however, there was room for us to sit and wait I the bar area. I requested a table by the window, which was lovely, so that we could look out over the sea. The staff were very polite and attentive and the tea was delicious. We opted for the full afternoon tea, which consisted of four finger sandwiches, a tartlet, scones with clotted cream and a selection of 5 other cakes. The scones were really fresh and delicious! The sandwich fillings were all delicious and they cater for vegetarians and vegans. They have a lovely selection of teas; we opted for the Japanese cherry tea, which was delicious! We couldn't finish all the cakes, so they boxes up the remaining cakes for us to take home. We had a really enjoyable, relaxing afternoon.

Very nice afternoon tea of traditional sandwiches, delicious mini quiche, fabulous scones and cakes too. There is too much food to eat at one sitting but requesting a doggy bag is very acceptable. The Grand is very busy at the moment and struggling with the volume of guests so booking is a must.

We we’re staying in Brighton for our anniversary, we stayed at the Metropole next door but after an uninspiring drink at their bar we went to the Grand for a drink. A lovely atmosphere with great service, just a little pricey

Worst place to come. Was told just sit down anywhere and not a single waiter come check on us and get our order.. we waited half an hour and nothing so we walked out. But waiters all giving us horrible look and attitude! Disgusting!

First of all the restaurant itself was nice and the service was good. But the food was not good. I had a steak and it tasted a bit sour. The little salad with it (see picture) was very poor display. The pasta wasn't even good and they call themself Italian restaurant. Only good thing for me was the beer and the strawberry cheesecake.

You have the nice feeling that you have been invited for lunch by a Greek friend and that his mother has cooked for all the family and you are joining them. I genuinely enjoyed it.

They have only been open a few days so there will be a settling in period. The beer - good selection of Harveys beers but disappointing that there was no Best Bitter. One beer was off but was changed without query - they need to check them before start of service. Decor - as you would expect it has been fully refurbished and looks really smart. Food - the burger was good but I was amazed when they said they don't provide cutlery, so eating is a rather messy experience (hence the title); the chips were excellent.

The garlic bread was delicious; the pasta was average. There is a giant drink menu and plenty of food selection for the whole family. Very nice outdoor seating, but had to wait a long time for service and the bill. Overall was an alright experience and left full!

Beautiful decor and friendly service. The food is good but slightly let down by being too salty. The glasses weren’t clean/dried properly which had a very horrible smell and taste. Otherwise it was perfect for my palate. Hope there’s some improvement on my next visit.

Came here for drinks for the first time with friends. Very attractive bar, comfortable and elegant seating areas, and friendly & attentive staff. Very much art deco styling, in keeping with the age and history of the hotel itself. Not too expensive, given the experience of visiting this lovely bar. Would definitely visit again.

An afternoon tea here is a real treat for anyone visiting Brighton or living here. The atmosphere is genteel and relaxed, overlooking Brighton seafront. You get a big pot of tea, with two savoury plates and three sweet plates. There are different blends of tea to choose from, and you can also add some bubbly if you are celebrating a nice occasion.

Went for afternoon tea. The food was presented well, but incredibly bland, especially considering the price. It's sad to say but Gregg's actually has better sausage rolls. Both the sausage rolls and quiche came out cold as well. The servers weren't outwardly rude to us, but there were a lot of condescending smaller things they did. Including the fact that tables who ordered after we did by 10+ minutes got their food first (this is set menu afternoon tea so I couldn't even write it off to the fact that maybe our food just took longer). I'm not sure if it was because we weren't middle aged white people while everyone else was, but I don't really know what else we did to deserve this. I won't be coming back again.

Great food from the grill, chicken and mushroom pasta was amazing. The cocktails were great! Attention from staff could be a bit improved.

Super delicious, this chicken I had here was perfect! This place was really great, we ate here on our arrival and it was a great way to start of our vacation in England and Brighton.

Staff very pleasant and helpful.Bedroom on 6th. Floor good with super king bed,clean and quite. Restaurant options limited with unimaginative menus and below par cooking skills for an hotel of The Grands reputation .I ordered the special of the day which was a grab tagliatelle .Contained no crab but many bullet hard scampi all swimming in a surfeit of double cream.I mentioned this to the restaurant but nobody was at all interested. Lovely staff who helped me find a seat with a plug as I needed to charge my phone to make a call. Cocktails were nice, old school atmosphere in a timeless decor. Go and have a look at the stunning staircase.

Great place. Though very expensive but would only expect that at somewhere like the grand :) Food for the VIP event at 500 quid a table was worth the money and very nice. Rooms are gorgeous :)

I've tried most bars in Brighton and this is my favourite. Great service, excellent drinks menu including some great single malts. This is my preferred place to escape from everything. Complementary nuts and olives are the best.

The Victoria bar is relaxing and the staff are friendly and helpful. With many cocktails and coffee on offer. Will most definitely be returning soon.

I can honestly say the Victoria Bar at the Grand cocktails are the best I've ever had. There is such a high quality and welcoming service/atmosphere created by the bar staff. Each cocktail is so intricate - I am in love with the 'Columbus 1493' and will be returning soon for another glass or two.

What a lovely friendly hotel, popped in for a drink a couple of weeks ago, booking to say late November. Can't wait!

The Victoria Bar is amazing. The feel and look make it a wonderfully modern step back in time, if that is possible. The staff are the epitome of what good customer-focused service is about. The cocktails are mixed to an exact standard and make the whole experience complete. Bar snacks/nibbles served to accompany and even if you simply fancy a coffee, it tastes divine. Having been introduced to The Grand a few years ago (via work) I have to say, it was a hotel I had walked past before but hadn't ventured in. However, since 2014 I have visited, stayed, enjoyed - and will do again. Don't be afraid to venture in the next time you are in Brighton, and treat yourself to a cocktail - or two. We do!

The bar staff were professional and attentive at all times, and the menu offers a good range of classic and modern cocktails. We enjoyed a warm and lively atmosphere for the entire evening (live jazz was a definite bonus), and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to begin their night on high note.

Had drinks here last Friday eve. Walked into a really welcoming atmosphere with amazing live jazz, what a treat! Busy without being crowded, with people of all ages sat in comfy looking chairs and sofas; we perched at the bar chairs and were served by confident, competent bar staff who were lively and fun without being unprofessional. The cocktails were delicious and well-priced, and clearly made by people who knew what they were doing! Will definitely be returning as often as possible, especially now I know they have a happy hour!
