Our idea of a good pub. Well kept cask beers. Good selection of food. Friendly efficient service. But beware of the Ghost Pepper Pork Scratchings - sweet chilli, they are not!

Don’t often go for a Sunday roast because I’m usually disappointed and left feeling underwhelmed but today popped into the Victoria for a pint after Remembrance Sunday and asked if a table was free, as I know they get busy here, one of the best decisions I’ve made for food! Was early enough that could get a table ordered a vegan nut roast for the wife and I had the beef, could not believe the size of the portions! Skip your fried breakfast you won’t have room, big plates with food covering it all, the beef was very generous with 4 huge roast potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding as big as a small persons head! Veg plentiful with your own gravy boat, my wife took 3 roast potatoes home with half her nut roast. Highly recommended for value for money think mine was £13.50 I’ve paid double before hence being disappointed in other establishments, side note great choice of real beers to compliment the food. Will definitely eat here again hope 2nd time won’t disappoint, cheers guys!

Good beer selection and guest ales. New late hours until midnight. ———————————————————— The Victoria in Tilehurst is a proper English pub. Great venue, attention to detail decor, nice gardens (they have banana palms, quality). TV screens showing the football. Lively diverse crowd of locals - it gets noisey. Music from the juke box. Decent number of tables to sit at and drink or eat. The menu is good - the lasagne … the smell…the taste… and offers standard pub fair (the Sunday Roast). The landlords are cool and do not tolerate stupidity. Staff are friendly and service is good. Security on the door as is standard these days. There is a pool table. This has the character of the old pubs I grew up in … I didn’t think they existed anymore… Great pub. Recommended. 5 stars easily.

Dave has once again done his pub proud with his fantastic roast dinners. Massive portions and proper home cooked. Even our grandson had a huge plateful and he had a kids portion. Even the puddings are huge! Would definitely recommend you visit. Staff are very friendly and welcoming

Always busy, good place to meet mates for a cheeky drink

Our local and always a great place to visit. Good beer and great roasts that can be gluten-free. Also cater for GF on the main menu with a separate chip fryer and a couple of mains. Good outside seating with a well tended garden.

This is a great pub, really good buzzing atmosphere, clean, lovely large well kept garden areas with ample seating. Really convenient if your looking for just a drink or good pub food. The Chicken Melt was really good. Well cooked very large chicken breast with loads of bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce. Hand cut chunky chips were crispy and fluffy and the side salad was like a whole salad starter, really fresh and well dressed. All in all a very nice pub and great value for money. I would recommend.

I love this pub. It is amazing for watching the football, meeting mates or kust having a quiet one by yourself. It is usually busy on the weekends but on weekdays is a great time to go. The staff are all great people with great stories to tell. The landlords are great people with really cute dogs. Up until a couple of years ago, this pub had a reputation for being dangerous and bad but since the new lads ( Dave and his husband) took over, it has been a great place.

It was the first time I when In there and it be my last,the only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the lady behind the bar was nice and helpful,but for my food I had chicken melt and half way eating it,I noticed the chicken was pink and had blood in it,but what I was annoyed about the cook didn't even come out and speak to me and say sorry,he sent the lady behind the bar.i had trouble getting my car out I was blocked in,but had a really lovely man that came and help me so I thanx him very much.please if you eat the chicken please check.

The garden area is spacious and inviting. I have not yet had the opportunity to sample the cuisine.

Great local pub with friendly staff, pool table and darts

I visited this pub tonight with a couple of friends for after work drinks before I headed off home to cook dinner. Unfortunately the food that I saw coming out of the kitchen absolutely destroyed that plan! The smell and presentation of the dishes coming out of the kitchen was amazing! We all decided to stay and eat in here tonight and food was definitely as good as it looked and not your normal pub grub. Compliments to the staff that served us, I didn’t get their names, but the lady with the blue braids and the one with blonde hair really made us feel welcome. We will definitely come here again 5⭐️

Fantastic Sunday roast as usual. Great food great service. We had Sunday take outs all through lockdown . Dave and Jason are the best along with their staff.

The pub food in it’s proper definition. Huge, delicious portions, nachos are top notch. Recommend to go with “pub classic” menu, burgers are just burgers.

Book Sunday Roast for the 17 December 2023 The staff were really helpful and friendly The roast lamb was excellent they served Turkey instead of chicken for the Christmas season What a great experience so if you want a real Sunday roast go to The Victoria

They only do Sunday roast but nothing had any flavour. No seasoning, no real care to make it good. The staff were really nice though.

Father's Day. The pub was really busy but the staff remained friendly and welcoming. A good standard Sunday roast with vegetables better than in many similar establishments. Generous portions at a fair price. The little gardens were useful for the toddler in the group. This will be our 'local' from now on.

Called at very short notice to see if they could give me a table for 7 , very accommodating and found me a table ,the food is outstanding and the staff where very friendly and on point . I definitely recommend The Victoria I will definitely be going back .

First time at the Victoria with my family. Very good fresh cooked food and generous portions at affordable prices. The staff were efficient and very friendly and engaging. Very popular with family and friends groups. We'll worth a visit, but book first as the tables appear not to be empty for very long.

Have lived in Tilehurst for over 20 years and never been in Victoria , not being a pub type person or drinker but heard they done a good roast so tried out on 15 May, wasn't disappointed. Partner and I had roast beef, cooked to perfection as was all the trimmings, couldn't fault it - compliments to the chef. And a mention to the young lady behind the bar, she was very friendly and very efficient. Thoroughly recommend. And a mention for landlord who responded to me from his holiday to book a table. I had the best service and the bacon and chicken ceaser wrap is the best I've had in a very long time. My partner also finished his entire meal within minutes. Great food and cheap drinks. There's nothing better than a local pub

The Sunday roast is insanely great value and quality of food. Weekly changes to the menu make it a great option to consider if you fancy a pub roast. Staff and service is always kind and warning.

I booked into here a couple of weeks ago to take my mum out somewhere local, and we were not disappointed it was lovely, all the safety precautions taken seriously we filled out a form with our details and sanitised our hands, we were then guided to our table once seated our drinks order was taken while we browsed the menu, then our food order was taken, the food was quick coming out and piping hot we throughly enjoyed our meal, we wil be definitely going back sometime hopefully soon, the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite, thank you for a nice meal

Nice pub, nice selection of beer. Covid wise they have the full set up. NHS track and trace code or sign in register if you don't have the app. Screens up around the bar. Table service with all staff wearing masks. Great screens to watch the footy.

Good service and food was tasty

We’ve had their takeaway roast dinners before (absolutely amazing and fantastic value) so we decided to eat in on Sunday. They didn’t disappoint - absolutely delicious, great service and a really friendly welcome, with the added bonus that those who had room, ordered pudding!! Not me I hasten to add - full to the brim!!

I felt the safe distancing from staff behind the bar wasn't as it should be, they didn't stay behind the screens to talk to customers, just leaning on the bar thinking nothing of it, just my opinion.

We had 2 x take away roasts (beef and chicken). They were ready on time, very hot, even after the ten minute ride home. The food was packaged such that there was no spoiling in transit. The meat portions were very generous, well cooked and tender, complimented with four veg' and a YP. Excellent value for £10.

We ordered four take away roasts today 10/5/20 two beef, one chicken and one pork. The meals were ready at the required time, piping hot and the portion size was very generous.Now onto the taste where do i start the meals were cooked to perfection and full of flavour, beef was tender Yorkshire pudding homemade and the gravy was so tasty. Then the vegetables proper roasts potatoes and fresh parsnips what a meal. Chicken was tender and came with stuffing and the pork was so flavoursome. We will definitely be eating here again, Compliments to the chef!!!
