Our caravan is on a local campsite and the Victoria Hotel was recommended to us for their Sunday dinners. I rang up and ordered 1 lamb & 1 beef. to takeaway. Visited this pub for dinner recently. It was clear that they take coronavirus measures seriously so it felt very “Covid secure”. Good choice on the menu and a big portion size. I had the Cumberland sausage and then the hot chocolate fudge cake which was very nice. Wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Booked this venue on a whim when visiting the area. Very traditional pub feel. Gentleman who served me was amazingly attentive and polite, nothing was too much trouble. We have just enjoyed a two course meal at the Victoria & it was simply lovely. Real hearty pub food, running a slightly reduced menu than advertised on the website, due to COVID, but still plenty to choose from. Highly recommend the lasagna, chicken tikka curry for mains & the rice pudding & cheesecake for dessert. Gordon was so welcoming of us & our pooch, seating us at a table where our German Shepherd could stretch out. The locals were also lovely & happy to have a little chat. Excellent COVID measures in place, felt safe and well distanced from other guests. You guys are doing a cracking job! Please do not be put off by the exterior of the this venue, there is a hidden gem inside! Thanks again, for making the 1st night of our holiday so relaxing 👍👍

. . Ese fue un buen pensamiento y fue. ¡apreciado! Simplemente excelente comida, a un precio tan razonable y un ambiente agradable. Our train had run very late and we needed to get off and reverse our journey if we were to get home that day. We had 25 mins before our next train arrived. We'd had no lunch as there was nothing available on the train. The train conductor told us that we could get something at either the pub or the coffee shop in the station. The coffee shop was closed for the week (family emergency?) but the pub was open. We went in and before we could order, the landlord told us they were closing. It was 2.10 pm. We said we only wanted something basic - maybe coffee and some crisps that we'd take out. He grunted and made as if to go behind the bar and serve us, but instead he put the lights out. The other customers drank up and left. We followed. I'd rate this place inhospitable and unhelpful.

The bar & restaurant are a little ... quaint. A real fire was in near the bar area which was great but it did mean that the heating wasn't turned on further into the restaurant. This meant that some other areas were a touch cold. The temperature is probably an influence on the black mould which was growing in the corners of the wall from the carpet upwards. The food was perfectly edible, though the fish was from the freezer unfortunately.

Had one of the best sweet and sour chicken meals I've had for a long time the other evening. We had been warned about the portion sizes and you do have a choice of large or small. Don't be fooled the small portion is still really generous. Fish and chips was excellent as was the steak and ale pie. If I had one criticism it was that the steak and ale pie came drowned in gravy which soaked into the lovely pastry. Will ask for it on the side next time. Also highly recommend the iced Bailey's cheesecake it was divine. A real find and we will certainly be back. Prices were excellent and my husband gave top marks to his pint of Guinness.

Good sized car park.Once inside, in February anyway, a lovely REAL fire awaits whilst you get your food and drink organised. The Licensees are very pleasant and we got our drinks quickly. Pub food was varied and comprehensive with some nice Specials - like Sweet and Sour Chicken, which was delicious. One thing we all agreed on - the HAND MADE AND COOKED chips (done the old fashioned way with a knife) were wonderful. Decent salads accompanied the Mains and I think it fair to say that there was a LOT of food. We all had Sunday Lunch but plenty of other choices where available on the menu, we forced ourselves to have pud which were all homemade and very good.We returned midweek for a teatime meal, we chose steak, battered cod and the chicken Balti all of which were very well cooked and served by friendly efficient staff, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was especially good!!

We were going to go to another restaurant but after advise from a friend we went to the Vic. We found he staff friendly and attentive when we arrived, we had my young daughter and niece with us and they made sure we had enough seating for them. There was a large amount of food on the menu as well as some good specials. We had elderly relatives with us who didn't want to eat a lot. There were also small portions available for them on the menu. Highly recommend this place it is in each reach of the train station and the beach. Great for a holiday or local visit.

The food is good and is excellent value for money.I am a pensioner so not having the larger appetite I had when I was younger, the choice of having the smaller meals is ideal for me.The staff are all so willing to please.

Good food at a reasonable price - worth a detour off the A595 as there is not much else in this area. The place is a bit lacking in atmosphere for a country pub but, otherwise, it was fine.

We go here quite often for the quiz night. We usually go for a meal and then stay for the quiz. The food is traditional 'pub grub'.and plenty of it.The pie is amazing as are the fish & chips.Staff are friendly and welcoming. we only tend to go on a quiz night, and the atmosphere is always great.

It's hard to find a decent pub with reasonably affordable evening meals on offer in the Western Lake District all year around - but here is one for you to try. Although essentially a local pub in a quiet, non-touristy village (Drigg), a warm welcome is offered to visitors. The food is down to earth pub grub rather than anything particularly exotic or adventurous but if you're looking for a dependable, clean, warm option away from the usual, more expensive tourist haunts in the Western Lakes, this is certainly worth trying out.

The Vic is near the little railway station with its attractive flower tubs and a short drive away from a glorious sandy beach. There's nothing more liberating than taking a brisk walk along the shore and coming back for a home cooked meal at the local pub. It may take a liitle time for your meal to arrive but food is cooked to order and the cod and chips is to die for. A local butcher supplies the Cumberland sausage and tender fillet steaks. For self caterers it is possible to phone ahead and pick up fish and chips in the early evening, have a pint while you're waitng for your order.A real English pub, not pretentious but good value with a warm welcome.

You might be slightly put off by the exterior of this building- just perhaps a bit tired looking - but please go in (sometimes it is necessary to book) and inside you will be greeted by friendly staff in a lovely warm pub atmosphere - if you wish to dine, have a look at the specials board - as well as the main menu board - order at the bar and go and sit at your table. If you feel the wait a little long - be patient, all food is cooked to order and you will NOT be disappointed - the plates are hot, the food is excellent quality and well cooked - and the food keeps on coming, dishes of vegetables, dishes of chips and whatever else might be included in your order- just one thing - go in with a good healthy appetite- otherwise you will either need a doggy bag or have to do the awful thing and leave food -which is not worth doing, that would be a waste of your money and good food. The ginger sponge pudding and custard is just the best thing ever- go on treat yourselves. We are lucky to live close to this venue - so a very handy place to visit - and we do! One more thing - it is dog friendly as well.

Welcoming and great homecooked food, nothing fancy, just good, tasty wholesome food. We had two Lasagnes and a fish n chips and Scampie enjoyed by all and generous portion sizes. Family and very dog friendly. A lovely atmosphere and character. We would be very happy to return. Thanks

Lovely food. I had mussels for starters, reckon they must have emptied a boat straight onto my plate. Excellent
