The meal tonight was delicious. The price was very reasonable. The staff were very helpful and polite. The environment was most pleasant. The whole experience was delightful.

What an awful experience. A local cricket club were also sat across the room, 16 of them who were loud, rude, drunk and just down right awful. Management sort of tried to control them, but ultimately just moved them away (some of these people from the cricket club were also teachers…), were making comments. We went for a 70th birthday. The food was average at best. We ordered the steak as we already had had curry previously in the week, which was… nice. But the salad didn’t come and a family member got the wrong food.

Friend recommended it and was great , food and service! Good quality local Indian restarunt👌 (Peanut butter stack was amazing )

Went here on a recommendation as we are not local. Booked a table and on arrival there was a lot of people waiting to be seated. Good system of seating you in the reception are whilst table prepared, giving you a menu and taking drinks/food order before being seated. Had a set menu for mothers day which wasn't over priced like a lot of places. Good portion sizes, nice food and quick, good service, nothing was too much trouble. We were in the back of the restaurant which was a little cool temperature wise. Shame its not local.

Everything is alright but staffs needs improving. as one has a weird smell which sound wrong but has to be said heard another table talking about that, one of the staff can’t understand what I’m trying to say as he always calls another waiter and another waiter just ignores me . NOT SAYING ALL STAFF ARE RUBBISH , the person that served my food was a nice fella he sorted my table out and explained about staff problems but , Hopefully they can sort it as the food is very good, would like to come back again if the staffs fix up!!!

From start to finish a brilliant celebration of Nee years Eve. The venue is fabulous, the staff are amazing, top notch curries. The dj was good, the price was excellent value and the finale Firework display was breathtaking. Well done Viceroy. And night to reme

I travel about 8 miles for a take-out, passing other Indian restaraunts on the way. The food is so good, especially the Sagor Salmon and the Chicken Dilrubar

This was our 2nd visit to this little hidden gem in Bollingtonas we were staying in a hotel around the corner and it was just as delicious as our 1st time staff are very friendly,do not fuss about you, once your sat down you are left to enjoy your meal and chat away without being disturbed the food is fresh & delicious & good value for money there is lots of choice a busy little place considering where it is would definitely recommend this Indian restaurant if your visiting Macclesfield 😊

Very very disappointed. Onion Bhaji’s extremely dry, worst we’ve ever tasted. Chicken Tikka no better. Chicken very very dry. Couldn’t finish the meal.

Best Indian ever , you should all really try the viceroy . Had to take some food home with me 😁😁. Waiters was really polite and funny . They take your orders in the lounge whilst enjoying the mini pond , very nice view at the back which they let us have a drink at. The atmosphere here is really good. Last week tried the viceroy as recommended. It was outstanding. To bad I live far. Very welcoming by staffs. A young staff call areeb made me and my kids happy and picked my new favourite curry dish chicken lazeza. It served with rice and breads for £13.95. BARGAIN! Will recommend this dish but it’s only a weekly special sadly. Will be back definitely with my friends.

Full-flavoured food and attentive service A wide-ranging menu: tasty and committed. They get 5/5 because, having produced chicken curry for my friend instead of lamb curry, they produced the lamb version as a FREE takeaway. Really good, broad menu with great tastes and service. Go there!

Had a takeaway on the 28 Feb. Normally the food is great but the Bangla Tikka starter was so overcooked that I could not even get my fork into the bits of chicken. Why anyone decided to serve that is beyond me.Dropped the viceroy an email but did not get a reply which is pretty poor

We had a truly magnificent evening as we always do when we eat here and there are several reasons why.We arrived with two children: a toddler and a 4 year old and the staff were brilliant with them. From the minute we walked in we felt like part of the family. They took our drink orders right away and entertained the kids by showing them the fish in beautiful aquarium situated in the waiting area.The food was exceptional. We ordered a dilrubar and a lamb railway chicken and it was quite simply delectable. I don't know how they create such rich, tasty sauces with such tender meat. If I could make these curries I'd never leave my house.A few mentions: Sharm, the manager of the restaurant is an exceptional cook and a brilliant host and made us feel extremely welcome. Mahfuj, a exceptional professional who made us feel right at home and finally Raj who is truly the friendliest person I've ever met. We saw him 5 years ago and he welcomed us with the same smile he did the last time we were in. You can't have a better meal and experience than the Viceory. First time here since after lockdown, food was absolutely incredible as always and service was very fast. Restaurant was clean along with sanitisers at the door. Staff very welcoming. Would recommend.

We’ve had the Sunday special which was fantastic value for money and we’ve been on a Saturday evening. Both trips have been great. We sat by the window which has a great view of the fields. The food is delicious and they have a great selection of chutneys for the poppadoms. The service is friendly and efficient.

Absolutely perfect. We visited last Saturday, myself and parents for our first family meal since lockdown. Food was absolutely perfect as always, the restaurant was incredibly clean.Staff as always so friendly and accommodating! Hand gel on entry and social distancing maintained. Great curry house, lovely staff & good service. Good value special on sunday afternoons. Recently they've stated selling an Indian IPA & a blonde beer, & whilst they're keg, not cask, it does make a nice change. Only tried the IPA but it was decent.

This “restaurant” displayed the wrong food hygiene certificate after being scored zero and then lied to their customers telling them it was a clerical error. They broke the law in displaying the wrong score. Purposefully lied to customers and when they were found out didn’t apologise and tried to cover it with more lies. The zero score referred to meat juices dripping into veg, no food hygiene for staff, staff not washing hands, and that is just a small amount. No care or respect for their customers.

I been today to viceroy i booked for 12 person 5pm i got to table 5.30 because they are so buzzy and food was so nice and tender everything.waiter are so nice with us service was excellent keep it up. We will come again

The guy taking my take away order was a bit rude. The Korma was very watery and not its usual vibrant colour. The other Indian restaurant in the village is slightly better quality in my opinion and cheaper.

Ate here on our second night of a 2 night deal at Hollin Hall. A nice leisurely walk to the restaurant through the lovely little village of Bollington. Really nice restaurant with nice decor, friendly staff and lovely food. It was also a lovely sunny evening and they have a terrace out the back where you can sit and look at the views and watch the world go by. Have been back here since and eaten here again and it was also lovely, cant fault it.

Not very impressed with the Viceroy: The food started well but the mains were poor.Gents loo was in a horrible state so complained to staff. Place needs a good clean.Shame that basic hygiene in the loos was so poor as this place has a lot going for it.Will not be visiting again

Today's take away was well below their usual standard. Very watery curry sauce and colour was not the usual. Not sure I can trust to order again?

We went here mid week and it was pretty quiet so the atmosphere wasn't the best. The Indian dance music didn't help but I'm sure on a busy night it would be better. The dining room itself was roomy and a bit designed.The food was very nice, the chef obviously knows what he /she is doing.The service though was poor. Most of the staff were on their mobile phones most of the time. It must doesn't make you feel very welcome.The beer also had a sulphur smell. Not sure why.Could do better.

Used the Viceroy foe a business meal, staff were very friendly, enjoyed my meal which is always the same for meal...the chicken needs to be tikka oven cooked, prefer the Bhuna sauce madras hot...didn’t disappoint...not many restaurants can get it right this one did...

Given all the good reviews i have to admit on my rare visit the meal for me and my wife was nothing out of this world and just a tad dissapointing

We have eaten in at this restaurant or had takeaways from them for many years. I think we had a slight error on one occasion,which was rectified,something like we got vegetable rice instead of pilaf. The staff are all very friendly,yet professional,you can book or just turn up. We went here on Boxing Day just gone and the year before for a late lunch/early tea. It makes a lovely change from Turkey ! Prices are very reasonable and the menu very varied. Aside from that you can always ask for something to be changed a little,a normally very spicy meal made milder,or vice versa. Anyway if you want true authentic Indian food and hospitality the Viceroy is the place to go,

Excellent food Give good option and can alter menu to suit. Generally come here when working in the area. Poor wifi but that shouldn't really be an issue!

The staff are lovely and friendly and the food is 5*. The staff always go out of their way to help, excellent service and the food is even better.

I love the Viceroy in Bollington Cheshire and I am a regular especially on a Friday night. All the staff are superb and make me feel extremely welcome, from the moment I sit down with the nibbles to the second when I am issued with the warm towel at the end of my meal.

Went with friends for a surprise birthday bash & the food was excellent & should be recommended. Also excellent value.

I have given the Viceroy three times to impress but it is decidedly average. The food is just average and service the same.Won't go back in a hurry for eat in or takeaway.

fancied a change this sunday and went for a curry instead of a roast and was not disappointed...the set meal was amazing...4 courses plus naan bread including curry of your choice was more than we could eat and we have good appetites...staff were absolutely fab...place was clean and well set out with lovely views outside...service was excellent and all for about a tenna !!! a birthday party of 50 people arrived while we were there but this didn't affect our service at all...can't wait to go back cos the shashlik looked and smelt gorgeous...well done guys x

If you aren't from Bollington you might not know of the Viceroy. But it is definitely worth taking a detour for. Good curry, nice atmosphere.

Superb food and exceptional friendly service, have been going here for over 10 years now, and regulary get a take away as well from here, have never had a bad meal or bad service.Cant recommend the food here more.

The Viceroy is my favourite curry house and I would recommend it to everyone. Fantastic service. Very tasty curries and very reasonable prices.

We go here with our offshore team when they are over and always have good meals. The menu is extensive and I have never had a bad meal since dining here in the last few years.The staff are friendly and helpful. Sometimes depending on how busy they are the service can be a little slow in getting the food to you once you have ordered.

I eat here with my partner and daughter recently and after eating here numerous times before, I knew not to expect any surprises, which there weren't, to a point. The food here is always of good quality, with plenty of choice. The staff who welcome us are always pleasant and are keen to keep their customers happy. On my most recent visit, the food as usual was good, and staff did check during the meal to see how things were. Its hard to find fault with the Viceroy usually, however after I had requested a dessert menu, I then unfortunately waited a considerable amount of time for a member of staff to approach me, and more unfortunate still was the fact that this wasn't forthcoming, at any point. Listening to staff speak loudly between themselves for almost ten minutes, I eventually lost patience and paid the bill. I do not believe the restaurant is average, so reviewed it as I see it; Very good. This experience is not the norm and it won't keep me from eating here again, but on this occasion, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Fortunately, this had nothing to do with the food.

Always a friendly welcome here, great for families on a Sunday afternoon. Food is fresh and a great choice. Best indian in the area.

May have been just me as Indians vary so much, I had no complaints but the good just didn't ring my bell, my college thought it was very good though. Restaurant was very nice and it was good value, I probably would try it again.

We visited the Viceroy on the Saturday evening of the 18/18/14. This is the first time we have visited the restaurant for a number of months. We were sat down in the reception, and it was a good ten minutes before somebody came over to see us. He took our drinks and meal order together, and then led us to the table, after a while the not so fresh poppodums arrived, they were not as, crispy as the should have been, they must have been made earlier in the day. After a further ten minutes the drinks arrived. We have no complaints about the main meal. The service was very poor compared to a few months ago, when we last visited the restaurant, and It will be quite a few months, if not years, before we visit the place again.

Visited this restaurant Sunday night with six of us. We ordered different dishes but they all tasted the same . The nan were cold, glasses were greasy and the service was terrible. So therefore we would never again be visiting this restaurant . We voiced our concerns to them but no one came to apologise. I feel sorry for the locals as they don't have much choice in this beautiful village.

We normally go to Italian or Mexican restaurants for meals but thought we would try something different for once. A friend who is particular about curries recommended The Viceroy. Being very infrequent visitors to Indian restaurants we enjoyed looking at the wide selection of dishes on the menu and found it hard to narrow down to choices, however they were well described, and we were all delighted with our choices. We had some cooling side dishes and rice. My vegetarian son had vegetable tandoori and declared it one of the best meals he'd ever had. (Frequently in restaurants his choice is very limited and he was delighted to find something so good and tasty). My other son wanted something 'hot' and chose chili chicken paneer which fulfilled his expectations and he really enjoyed it - we all tried some and agreed it was definitely tangy - and very flavoursome. I had Chat Mosalla with chicken which was very tasty and the chickpeas and cashew nuts added nice texture, and my husband had Kasuri chicken, which was quite sweet and creamy. There were warming plates on the table to keep the dishes from going cold whilst we ate what was on our plates, the restaurant decor is very nice, elegant, relaxing. The dining room was not full but quite busy, and when we left the waiting area including where people wait for take aways was full up - obviously a very popular place. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we will definitely go again and recommend it to anybody who asks.

The food here is very tasty, very reasonable and the staff are friendly. The restaurant appears to have a nice atomsphere and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I would recommend the Viceroy to anyone who likes indian food. One thing that I noted however, is that compared to other indian restaurants (and depending on what dish you have), the level of spice is slightly hotter than others...VERY tasty food!Enjoy!

I don't ever write reviews but after visiting this place i had to write this. We had been to this restaurant before and decided to go again last Saturday for a meal with my friends. As we entered there was loads of people waiting in the seating area they was very busy. One of the waiters took our order and took us to our table very politely. The meal i cant explain is was superb very nicely presented and on time as well we didn't have to wait that long as it was very busy that night. The service was excellent very well mannered very polite we had a good conversation with them as well. To be honest i have been to many Indian restaurants and i would have to say this is the best Indian i have been to. Would recommend to everyone.

Last night we decided to have a take-away meal from the Viceroy Restaurant in Bollington, what a grave error of judgement that was. We chose the set meal for two and the only edible parts were the poppadom with pickle and the rice. The onion bhajis and kebabs were obviously very old and reheated, dry, tough and inedible. The vegetable side dish looked as though it had been scraped out of a dustbin, the chicken tikka marsalla, well the meat was dry and the sauce so highly coloured it was a joke and the lamb dish just revolting, definitely old mutton, such a strong unpleasant flavour. It all ended up in the dustbin. We will never risk food from here again and I wouldn't reccommend anyone else to try it. We have travelled extensively in India from Uttah Pradesh to Tamil Nadu and never come across such revolting food as this. Trust me this is not worth risking your health.

The wonderful staff helped making our wedding day perfect by letting us hire the place for our wedding reception! Such amazing food (as always!!) people couldnt believe how tasty everything was even though we you were catering for 100+ guests!! I booked this restaurant for my partners 50th birthday surprise party of 35 persons for 7.30pm on Friday evening.We arrived a hour late but some guests had arrived on time and were well looked after by the staff till we got there.The table in the window was fantastic . The food outstanding. The service and staff brilliant . And there was no rush to get you out when finished.All our guests commented on the fantastic quality and value of the food. We will be returning 10/10Gordon Smith.

The service and food were both excellent. We went on a Saturday night and there was a mixed clientele (some small quieter groups dining and some larger rowdier ones). Plenty of people watching and atmosphere. We were sensitively seated in a booth to one side, which was comfy and cosy. We enjoyed everything we ordered - half of our party are Indian, and appreciate good Indian food. Special mention to the Railway Lamb curry, and even more so for the Salmon curry on the specials menu - an absolutely showstopping curry, we've never had as good anywhere else.

i have to say this is one of the best indian restaurants around the prices are very good even more so the food is fantastic. i have eaten here many times and the quality of food and service is always to a high standard. the guys here make u feel very welcome soon as you walk through the door so if you love great food and good service i highly recommend you visit this place you will love it ;-)

My wife and I visited this restaurant for dinner recently after reading reviews for the eateries in the area prior to staying at Shrigley Hall Hotel.The outside is deceiving. Inside is warm and welcoming as are the staff. Both courses were excellent, service first class and prices low compared to what we are used to at home.All in all, a really good meal and happy to return if in the area.

Another great visit, this time mid - week. Very warm greeting on arrival and pre - dinner drinks in the comfortable lounge. Food of the highest quality and in our opinion, the most delicious Indian flavours we have tasted. The Owner, Sham, and his staff are a great bunch - they deserve to do well. Very good value as well!

The draft Cobra is good, we had a range of dishes, they were a little mild to my taste so if you like spice, I'd ask then to spice it up a bit...

We went one Sunday lunch time, and unfortunately the restaurant was cold. The food was very oily too, which I thought was unnecessary. Could have been better.

As usual the place was packed with enthusiastic diners but as always the service was good and the staff extremely polite and friendly. A couple of pre - dinner drinks in the comfortable lounge followed by delicious starters and fantastic main courses. It was so enjoyable that I felt obliged to thank the chef - I think more people should as he really kows his stuff! Very reasonable bill for the standard of cuisine - hardly surprising that this place is so popular. Booking is a must if you don't want to be disappointed. We''ll be back!

This was our first visit to this restaurant but certainly not our last, the setting most enjoyable, we did go early doors which was pleasantly quiet, the staff was very attentive and efficient, the food was top notch would recommend a visit to anyone

WOW, in a good way! I just loved the way the spices danced on my tongue as wolfed down my madras. Everything was so perfect, the aromatic atmosphere set my senses on fire and the sweet crisp orange slices at the end of the meal brought the evening to a triumphant end. And to top off the fantastic the food there was an actual real life pond in the reception with wait for it..... FISH in, so exciting the kids loved (and me, love a good fish pond). To say the least i was unhappy to leave and i swear a tear rolled down my cheek as i pulled out of the driveway and waved farewell to the fantastic members of staff.

Had the special offer that's on on a Sunday..... poppadom and pickle tray, mixed starter, any curry of choice, naan and a dessert. The food was yummy and cooked to perfection (i had the lamb madras). You get so much and if you cant eat it all....you can take the rest home! The service was great and friendly. Will deffo be back.

The sign of a good restaurant is longevity. This place has been going for a long time and never ceases to serve up good foot and great service for a reasonable price.Can get a little rowdy with the guys popping in later on after the pub, but the service is good and the food is great.Better than the Bay Leaf in my opinion.

The best indian around!!! Been going there for the last 15years and can't say I've ever been disappointed. The staff and management make you always fell welcome and most importantly the food is always brilliant. If anyone want to try a recommend dish, the Japor chicken is one to try.

I have eaten twice from there the first time was great the second time I had a Keema dish which is minced curry, It was very greasy and the mince had a horrible but texture. But I will when I get the chance try again because the first time was really good and it was full both times. So seating usually speaks for it self.

We have eaten at the Viceroy for many years and it has always been a great experience from an impromptu meal out with friends to a family banquet on a Sunday through to hiring the whole restaurant for a birthday party! The last time I visited was a business meal and I was more than happy with the meal and the service. In my opinion this is the best Indian restaurant for miles - well as far as Handforth where the Viceroy have now opened anothr restaurant.

We went with a big crowd of about 14 people. The service was amazing the food was full of flavour and cooked to absolute perfection. The staff made us feel welcome and treated us extremely well. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone! Great Job!

We enjoyed our main meals but the starters were a let down, they were very much like starters you can buy in the supermarket so they were very average I'm afraid.

Loved The Vicory - I went with a group of 11 guys age ranging from 18 to 65 and everyone enjoyed their meals. The restaurant is extremely inviting, expensive looking and very detailed interior design and the food is excellent! I went a few months ago but since then I have had a few takeaways and the quality is still consistent. Plus they have Cobra beer on tap! 100% recommended for a decent Indian meal!!
