Delicious food, flavoursome, mouthwatering and so tasty. The only thing is that this place is missing some good marketing to promote it on social media such as Facebook, Instagram as it is way more tasty then the next door chain franchise.

Great restaurant and excellent food. The staff are very friendly and helpful with choosing dishes, they made my family (visiting from the US and inexperienced with indian food) feel welcome and right at home. My partner and I come here regularly as we love the quiet, welcoming atmosphere and quality of food. We've never been disappointed by anything we've ordered so far!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Margao is one of a kind! We’ve all been to Indian restaurants and eaten the same meal, whichever restaurant, wherever it is. The things that set Margao apart are the fish curries, the street food platters, the unique dishes and the touches to well known favourites. At most Indian restaurants, I would have lamb; mostly because I’m uninspired by chicken and prawn which seem to be the only other options. Here we have a range of fish curries, from mild to hot, including prawns, cod and other choices. All of them are incredible! The street food platters are also fantastic. Just enough of each delicious dish, freshly cooked and very high quality ingredients. The options from the starters, meat, fish and vegetarian options will give you all your favourites, with some very unique options, never seen anywhere else. Even the little touches to the popadoms and peshwari naan sets this place apart. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is welcoming. Even the music is great. And for me, the fact they sell Bangla is another huge bonus

Phenomenal food and service! We were looked after extremely well by Din! A great aunthentic selection of food on the menu including Vegan Thali selection and Yellow Fish Curry, was all delicious!

Food was uninteresting. I had recommended this place to a lot of my teammates, but sadly, after my recent experience, I will have to revise my recommendation. The only thing that tastes as it used to was Lamb Desi. That's the only food I would recommend. Dosa and any vegetarian food is a big disappointment. The food was absolutely dull. The wait time to get food was over 1 hour n 10 mins, which is unacceptable. The staff confirmed the food should be ready with 35-40 mins. Overall, it was a very disappointing evening.

Our second visit here and it was all delicious. We shared a veg dosa and paneer bhaji, Kashmiri lamb, and murgh tikka lababda, all of which were utterly delicious. We must have walked past this place a hundred times and never noticed it. There's a big 89 on the door, so the name isn't noticeable. Now that we've discovered this place, we'll be frequent visitors.

We had been to a concert in Knutsford and wanted a meal but it was late on a Saturday night. However, the guys here came up trumps and we both had the vegan set meal - a surprise for me but it was excellent. Great service and food and a warm welcome for us both. A special night and there will hopefully be plenty more to come.

Absolutely dismal and revolting experience. Had to wait over 45 minutes to get main course - staff couldn’t care less- waiter walked off when I asked what problem was. When food came was told it was cos they had lots of takeaway orders and were very busy. Food was not hot, nowhere near as good as 2 months ago and they brought out chicken instead of fish curry. Staff arrogant and couldn’t give a s—t. Don’t go here unless there has been a nuclear war and no food left elsewhere

We ordered one veg and one vegan thali. I think overall vegan thali was better. The ambience of the restaurant does need a serious update. Service was alright though they could be a bit more organised. Taste of the food was good, would have preferred aloo tikki shallow fried then deep fried.

Ate here on Thursday with my family, the food was delicious!! So fresh and tasty the man who served us was lovely. Definitely my new favourite in Knutsford.

Very Poor service! We ordered Veg Thali and Non-Veg thali and it almost took around 80 mins to get us the order, which was really frustrating. Regarding the food; There was less gravy in the curry and more pieces. Food taste was very average.

Visited for a birthday, the food and service was excellent, the owner Maruf took time out of his busy night to chat and advise us on the wonderful dessert he recommended, explaining how it was made and where it came from. Also explaining of how the restaurant came about 6 years ago. Lovely atmosphere, we will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend

Always late with delivery no matter how much notice you give them. Food is lovely however, just a shame the delivery service cannot be better.

The food was so fresh and delicious, the staff were welcoming and great service. Waiting a while for the main but we were told beforehand, when it came the quality was superb. Best Indian I’ve had in a while, I will definitely visit again.

Extremely slow service. We placed our order as soon as we were seated. Starters came out on time and were fine. Then it took more than an hour for the mains! We were told it was because we ordered the vegan thali. Surprising, and we could have been informed when placing the order, so that we could have changed to something else. The food, when it finally arrived, was fine. We loved the vegan thali. At least they gave a 25% discount on the food.

Absolutely rubbish ordered on Wednesday for Saturday 6pm pick up. Arrived hadn’t even started it and was told 5 minutes . 6.30 told no auborgines, eventually left at 6.40 . Don’t trust them they take on more than they can cope with !!!!!

The vegan thali was absolutely incredible. Easily the best authentic Indian food I've had in Cheshire. Really lovely service too. Only downside is it's not accessible for wheelchair users

I ordered here for a delivery and I was aware of the 1 star food hygiene rating but still went ahead.. I wish I had heeded my own instinct and not done it, whilst the food at the time was nice, to see it again the next day whilst also being so unwell was not so great. I would exercise caution

Superb and very tasty food and excellent service - booked the large table at the top nearest the bar and we had great mix of starters and mains - all came together and tasted superb - always have a takeaway on a Friday but eating in is really worth it - great new IPA available too

Meal was in no way exciting. Poor quality taste and lack of interest by staff. Sadly very under used by local and visitors. Went home hungry. Sad.

I've been eating in and getting takeaway's since it opened however recently I've noticed a marked deterioration in quality and service. Items have been missed several times and on the last two occasions two members of my family have experienced stomach discomfort and that's putting it mildly. Service is still friendly but food isn't.

Absolutely amazing Indian Food. We came across this restaurant on Sunday by chance walking through Knutsford, the smell of the place enticed us in. The food was first class, spicy but still with flavour. Great prices and the staff were lovely. Will be back again!

After moving to Knutsford and realising what a takeaway black spot it is- we have been delighted to find that Margao deliver! Food has always been excellent and the onion bhajis are amazing. Looking forward to eating in at the restaurant soon too!

Having read great reviews we weren't disappointed. We had the meat thali which was absolutely lovely. We asked if they could spice this up which they did no problem. Will definitely visit again when next in knutsford.

Excellent food! (from an Indian perspective) Chef Ramesh and waiter Imran were excellent. Imran was hospitable, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to all to pop in. The aubergine and paneer makhanwala and kalidaal require special mention as they were particularly delicious.

The food is actually alright. IF YOU GET IT! Countless times it's late, food is wrong and just now I waited 45minutes for the wrong order and then a further 15 minutes when I was told 5. I've been to this shop at least 15 times in a year and only 2 times has the order been perfect. THEY SERIOUSLY NEED TO FIX UP. NOT GOING AGAIN ANYMORE you lost a long time customer

Had a work meeting other night with a few colleagues so we ordered a couple of Thali's for everyone. The variety of dishes allowed everyone to taste something new from starters to main dishes, i loved the peshwari naan addition. The quality of food is amazing, i would not go anywhere else in town.

Finally some good food !! Ordered Okra and Aubergine curry at this restaurant, Margao. The food was properly cooked and all the ingredients were in the right proportion. I would have given a 5 star - however , they need to work on the Tandoori Roti ... I had the lamb jalfrezi with garlic naan bread and pea pilau rice and it tasted freshly prepared. My only criticism was that the sauce was sweet which I found a little odd and hadn’t experienced before in a jalfrezi. I did mention this as I was leaving and the waiter said I should have said so and they would have done me a new one. I will give them another chance at some point and just hope that it was a one off.

Have to say it was the best Indian we had had in a long while. Slightly more expensive than the run of the mill Indian type restaurants but well worth it .

We’re not local but looked at the reviews and decided to try. This is the best Indian I have ever had and lovely service and they made you feel comfortable. Usually very picky as my grandparents are Indian.

Margao never fails to produce fantastic authentic food. It’s as simple as that. This restaurant is a must visit on your list. I have to say, the meat samosas are the best I have tried anywhere in the world, overfilled and crispy with a Yoghurt/mint sauce on the side! They would feature as no 1 in say a comparable best UK sausage roll competition. They are absolutely amazing !!! As is all the food here. You owe it to yourself to try the best things in life! As we come out of lockdown from Covid19 eating out helps support restaurants, especially independent ones. Having travelled extensively in India I decided to book us in for a meal. We were in Knutsford for one night. An excellent choice. The restaurant was fully geared up for safe, socially distanced dining. The menu lacks the standard fare of most high street Indian restaurants, serving instead more authentic regional dishes. We started with Masala fish, coconut, curry leaf and mild spicing; chilli squid - reminiscent of that eaten on the beach south of Margao in Goa and Chicken chat puri, with a nice heat to contrast with the fish. This was followed by Goan fish with jeera rice in my case and with chicken vindaloo, another Goan speciality, with plain naan for Owen. Both were superb. A pint of cooling Cobra to was it all down. Perfection. Indian music in the background and attentive staff. I thoroughly recommend Margao to anyone wanting an authentic Indian meal. Thank you for a great evening.

We ordered a takeaway on Saturday for a family gathering and everyone commented on the excellent food. We had a big selection and everything was spot on. Thank you Margao!

Margao opened for dine in last night (first night I believe). We booked online, slight issue with the booking system but they'll iron this out so ring to check.Turned up a little early and were given a table, ordered the meal and enjoyed an amazing dinner. Crispy popps, great dosa and so tasty main course. It's amazingly tasty food, not based around heat but the depth of flavours is fantastic. It's great they're open again, will be making regular visits. Well worth a try if you haven't yet and great news if you have been and want to go back!!Thanks all

Haven't had an authentic Indian Meal in decades.This tasty non-anglicised food is now with delivery option. My veggie wife and I (meat for me please) decided to 'push the boat out' and try a huge selection by having a veggie Thali a Meat Thali. Greedy, I know but whilst I enjoy Indian food we hadn't eaten there before nor many items we were ordering.We LOVED all of it!OK it was huge (we made it last two days).I would never have been brave enough to order a fish curry - it was very tasty. We now have to chose what we want for next time - it's going to be difficult. Everything was expertly spiced but not to take away the taste and flavour of the main ingredient beit fish, lamb, chicken etc., and the rice .. how do they make it taste so good?The restaurant isn't usually accessible for me in my wheelchair which is a shame so I hope they retain the delivery option as part of the 'new normal' post lockdown.

The owners will agree it's not the best 'restaurant' out there. The food is however amazing and the service great. Different options to the standard Indian cuisine cooked by an incredible Indian head chef, Romesh. I can't recommend it highly enough

We were looking for to eat after the cinema (not Knutsford residents) and went in without a booking, quiet Sunday evening, a few others at tables too.We chose Vegetable Thali Sons and Mysore Masala Dhosa.Everything was freshly prepared and beautifully spiced.Service excellent and informed.We'll be back for another cinema and curry trip!
