Fantastic ice cream with loads of choice and lovely staff.

They advertise several vegan ice cream choices on a board outside so when I asked for some, the lady said I would have to come earlier as it was all in the freezer!! What?? All the other dairy ice creams were on display but, for some unknown reason, the vegan ones were locked away!! She wasn't helpful at all, no offer to go and get some for us - she could see we were really disappointed. She did say there was a sorbet but we didn't ask for that - she could only say some people prefer it to the ice cream....great! Well impressed....NOT!

So many ice cream flavours and the lady serving us was lovely and even better she gave me a free one for my dog !! Definitely recommended

I was walking back from a dog walk with my little boy who is autistic and struggles with ice cream due to texture. I asked for just a sugar cone as hes happy to eat those as he doesnt feel left out. I offered to pay and I got the response ‘no sorry I cant’ no apology or nothing that was all I got. I asked why and she said I need to keep sugar cones for ice creams!!!!! Baring in mind there was a full box behind her and I was willing to pay. My little boy was clearly upset and that wasnt enough. I was so embarrased, shocking customer service, I will make sure to tell everyone and I will never be returning ever.

If I could put no stars I would. Miserable chap serving. Four of us stopped by and bought 2 'tubs' of ice-cream and 2 cones. I just could not believe the meagre portion in the 1st tub and tried to stop my friend buying the others. It was not cheap. I thought it must be a mistake but no all 4 were an absolute disgrace in terms of portions. Just the day before we had ice cream in Amble and the portion was generous & delicious. I think you ought to be ashamed of yourselves at ripping people off the way you do because of where you are etc. I for one will never return or recommend you.

Ice cream blend and free option of vanilla ice cream, tasted really bad.... wish we had not said yes. Asked for a chocolate crepe, this arrived with banana, we took this back, lady seemed surprised, kept questioning what the issue was, repeated myself three times that we did not want banana, again seemed surprised and said we always put banana on crepes.... which really surprised us as unless you ask for something surely you shouldn't get. Anyway they took back and came back with the same one with the banana off it. Crepe was now cold, limp, and still tasted of bananas... wish we had returned it to get our money back but walked off as fed up with the service and attitude. Would never use again and realise the queues for the ice cream shop next door meant something !.

My wife and I had the most delicious ice cream from here. Definately worth a visit. Be aware that on a nice weather weekend there may be a queue.

Absolutely great, This stuff knocks Mr Whippy out the park! Artifical flavours with a wide range, I went for the Rum and Raisan and Peanut Butter flavor, the best ice-cream I've ever had, they even gave us a free vanilla cream and flake. The lady was lovely too, would recommend!

Used to get this famous Whitley Bay ice cream as a child, so on a recent trip had to stop in and try it. There are lots of flavours of homemade ice cream available but we went for the traditional English seaside 99. As we were sharing the very nice lady suggested 2 flakes to avoid arguments, it was creamy and delicious. Shame about the bank holiday weekend drizzle but to be expected.

As a lover of authentic gelato this was so disappointing, nothing like the real thing and even as my local Yummy Yorkshire ice cream. Even the large cones were quite soft until about half way down they became crunchy as they are supposed to be. Overpriced and very disappointing

What a fantastic place with homemade ice creams and fruit ices Our daughter is milk protein intolerant and the lady who is also the boss was brilliant pointed out what she could have And while we were there we also picked up gifts for the family to take home Looking forward to coming back next year

I wouldn't recommend this place took my children for an ice cream along the sea front my nearly 3 year old was giving a plastic spoon with his ice cream which shattered in his mouth he doesn't have good understanding so don't know if he had swallowed any of the plastic as he's non verbal

Bad service, even worse product. Asked for a whippy and got a cone with barely any ice cream and the tiniest bit of sauce after the lady was clearly disgruntled by me asking for some in the first place. Definitely not an experience worth £4... Should've gone to the amusements next door, but the Venetian didn't have a queue... I wonder why! Never again If you're looking for good ice cream in Whitley Bay to to Di Mio's!

Meant to be Italian gelato which I’ve been lucky enough to experience in Italy before, but this tastes like cheap Walls ice cream. We tried Eton Mess, Oreo, Kinder Bueno and Nutella and they all tasted like bog standard £1 ice cream you get from the freezer section in your local supermarket. Expensive too - was £10 for two ice creams. Staff weren’t very friendly either. So disappointing and won’t be back again. If you want proper gelato go to Ciccarelli in Blyth - they know how to do it properly.

Funny flavours could do with bigger portions.

Plenty of choices and got 3 different ice creams for me and the kids, tasted sour. When I told the owner it didn’t have much taste other than sour, she gave us nothing but abuse and attitude and told us we don’t know what Italian ice cream tastes like. We will not be going back and would rather go to the other one on the front.

Excellent ice cream and service. Also typical seaside gifts including Whitley Bay rock. Had my first Knickerbocker Glory there about 60 years ago when it was a sit inside cafe. Hope it keeps going for another 60 years!

Everything looks incredible. Spoilt for choice on flavours. Tried 4. All disappointing. Milkybar tasted like vanilla. Chocolate brownie was nice but just chocolate flavor. Terry's chocolate orange didn't get chocolate or orange and the m &m crispy had some m&ms I'm but also some peanut ones so was mainly peanutfy but nice . 2 stars as free whippy for dogs which she loved!

The older lady who serves (I think she is also the boss) is very rude, abrupt and lacking in customer service skills. We got an expensive yet meagre scoop of watered down, flavourless ice cream. It was so disappointing we just binned them. After this disappointing experience we went to the parlour on the corner, I think its called Scoops. Lovely creamy ice cream and service with a smile. Not a lot to ask for really!

Great price and some lovely unusual flavours. I had one scoop of Jammy Dodger and one scoop of caramel shortbread for £3, and they gave me some soft serve on top for free!

We bought ice cream here today and it was so tasty! The lady was really helpful, I don't understand all the rude staff comments. My youngest has dairy allergy and they had loads of vegan options which is EXTREMELY rare at ice cream places. I mean, she wasn't super smiley but def accomodating. Although, we are from Glasgow where the C word is a term of endearment so maybe my expectations are different. 🤣

Very rude service from the woman serving. Asked for a little extra topping of sprinkles on an ice cream cone for my infant daughter which was refused! Shocking.

The woman behind the counter was as rude and aggressive as they come, and the portion sizes are pathetic for 6 pounds odd. Go next door to the nicer place, don’t waste your time.

The variety of flavours is wider than in most places. For example, Lotus Biscoff, Nutella, Turkish Delight, Malteser, Haribo, Ferrero Rocher. Many more. The portions are tiny, making this an expensive treat for the amount.

Great range of flavours, only the outside counter is open at the minute.

Bought gelato from here while visiting Whitley Bay. The choices of flavours were great. I found it hard to decide which flavours to have. I had the eton mess and Terry's chocolate orange but I could have picked so many other flavours. I chose not have to extra ice cream on top but they were offering whipped ice-cream on top to say thank you for visiting them.

Expensive and the ice cream portions are pretty small and not too tasty. There’s a reason other ice cream shops are always busier I think 😕

The lovely woman who served us asked how we were enjoying our visit - she guessed by our accents. She also put extra ice cream on top of my cone ‘just to say thank you for buying from us’ then made a mr whippy cone piled high with ice cream! Brilliant service and lovely ice cream, we will be back!

Good choice of flavours, pleasant staff. Went for the basic cone with 2 scoops £3. The fancy cones were 1 scoop for £3 which seemed a bit much in comparison

Nice ice cream but ruined by a short black hair in it which did not belong to me or the girl serving. I was impressed with the strict measures to help protect against covid 19 - better than their nearby competitors in this respect.

First of all giving 1 star as you can’t give none. Went today for 3 99 sugar cones with soft ice cream and was told by the young girl behind the counter that she would have to get the boss to come and work the machine. A few moments later she came back and did it herself saying the boss was not coming out so we waited for nothing. The girl clearly did not know what a 99 was as she was giving it over without the flake - the flake was so old and dry and tasted stale that we wished she had not put it on. The portion was small for the price and the ice cream thin and watery with no taste and the strawberry sauce tasted cheep and nasty. Used to be a regular customer but so bad would not go again and will go to the one next door

First of all - the woman on the counter was completely miserable and seems to lack basic courtesy. The ice cream itself - £3 for a single scoop in a cheap wafer cone, with a hastily thrown on napkin. Ordered chocolate and biscoff - the chocolate was bland and tasted slightly alcoholic as if they are using essences rather than the real thing. The biscoff was also bland, a vague caramel taste but the biscuit was soggy. Only went because Do Meo's is closed, but was so disappointing I'd rather wait till Di Meo's reopens even if it takes a year.

Good ice cream, and either the staff member has really cheered up or they swapped her for someone new - service was friendly :-)

Called in after watching New Year's Day Dip. My friend & I were looking at drinks menu deciding what to have and Middle aged lady appeared asked what drinks do you want we decided against having a drink and said chips to take away. She rudely replied we're too busy and walked away! The same woman done this the year before when we visited she is rude beyond belief!!

Shocken service here today! I handed the bairns ice cream back and went next door I was so disgusted with the lady's attitude.

Title says it all called in with the little one after swimming fancied giving this place a go. Won’t bother in future.I’ve never eaten chips that become chewy and hard as they get to an edible temperature.. not crispy not fluffy. Fish was ‘okay’ but way to greasy. Ice cream deserts are awesome as usual. They should stick with the ice creams.Staff don’t speak but grunt, woman taking the money miserable as sin.

Best ice-cream in Northern England!

We went here for some ice cream after our lunch at the restaurant over the road and the ice creams were lovely, a nice ice cream on a hot day at the beach.The reason I gave 2 is because the woman is absolutely miserable, I tried cracking a joke and her face didn't change at all, very stern faced and not impressed by the kids putting their excitable order in (they're kids).Would go back although I'd prefer to go elsewhere. The ice cream tasted like regular ice cream and not Italian gateu but jeez she needs to smile a bit more.

The most amazing Icecream with a great assortment to choose from. I look forward to going back to try the other flavours.

Well I can honestly say that the woman serving here was the most miserable person I have ever encountered! We visited at the weekend and I thought I’d treat my daughter and a few friends to icecream after playing in the park but the woman serving at the counter was horrendous. I was purchasing 6 ice creams and the kids had all chosen their flavours from the generous selection on show so my daughter was placing the order while I watched as I had the dog, 2 scoops each but when my daughter ordered the woman said “ooh I haven’t got time to mess around making that many, you can all have the same flavours!” My12 year old who was standing at the counter with the money looked absolutely gutted but trying to be polite to an adult just said ok holding back tears! I was having none of it. I leaned forward and said excuse me did you just refuse to serve the children their order? The woman clearly shocked to see that the kids were actually with an adult came back with the response that it would be cheaper for the kids! I said it’s ok don’t worry about it what so ever if this is the way you treat the kids normally then we’ll take our business elsewhere. We went one shop down to di meos ice cream parlour and the kids all got the ice creams that they wanted, served by a lovely man who put wafers in them all for them and couldn’t have been any nicer!! You would think that since 99% of ice creams are sold to kids the horrible woman would be nicer to her customers!!

Having received poor service elsewhere we came here for pudding after a late lunch. Amazing selection of ice creams and a very nice coffee and friendly service. Would recommend.

The ice cream scoops were okay although overpriced. However the lady behind the counter lacks human and communication skills and it's unpleasant to interact with.

I had a Banana Split and thoroughly enjoyed it, my friend had I believe a Strawberry Sundae - it also sold hot meals as well, such as fish and chips which went down a treatThe service was very good and is definitely worth more visits - it is situated just off of the sea front.

called in for daily special fish and chips with bread and butter and mushy peas all for £5.50 cannot fault them just enough, service was quick and will go again, had simular in tynemouth the week before charged over £9

This is a cosy little cafe just off the front which sells meals and ice cream sundaes. My friend had a banana split which had some fancy name or other which he enjoyed. Mine was disappointing. However we saw lots of people having fish and chips and other meals which looked appetising and the service was very good and the prices very reasonable.

Amazing selection of ice creams and desserts. The range of flavours is incredible. And you can mix and match to your hearts content. Also great coffee options too.

We always enjoy getting an ice cream at the seaside and have been regular customers at this establishment for many years!!! We will no longer be giving it our custom due to the rudeness of the lady selling the ice creams. I asked very politely if she sold single wafer cones for my little girl but snapped at me No!!!( very abruptly)She then muddled my order but was very angry with me when I pointed it out and then didn’t bother putting the free whippy ice cream on top of my children’s ice cream that she had for the rest of the customers in the line. Very petty of her I think!!!! The lady who had been in front of me in the line returned to say she’d asked for a chocolate sprinkle cone but had been given a plain one, the lady barked at her “ they’re all the same price “ and then pretty much threw a sprinkle cone at her. We won’t be returning and will now give our regular custom to one of the many other local businesses.

Ice creams were totally tasteless - Nutella and white chocolate tasted like cheap vanilla, and the mint choc chip lacked flavour too. Not worth the money at all.

I tried to different sorts of ice cream which had no difference in taste at all. For 3£ per scoop I was very disappointed...

unfortunately the ice cream had no taste at all...I had two different scoops which didn't taste any different to each other...

This was a perfect ending to the day. Yes it was a dreary day, but honestly after having this place recommended to me I had to try it, only to find out I had been once before! It’s still as amazing as the last time I went, the ice cream is phenomenal and honestly if it were closer I’d be there every day! Gunna be back this summer! Save me a spot!

It isn't obvious that this place has a full cafe out the back, with a soft play which we didn't visit.

After coming from the arcade we fancied an ice cream and this happened to be near. The ice cream was lovely and very reasonably priced. Will most probably visit again during our week in Whitley Bay and will recommend to anybody :)

Very rude woman behind the counter. She was rude and very impatient with two younger italian girls who were doing their best to order in english. Then she barked at us to ask what we wanted, barely gave me a chance to speak before turning away from me. The younger lad who was supposed to be helping didnt seem to know what to do. He stood trying to hand me an ice cream and i had to gesture to him that was holding my purse in one hand and money in another so couldn't take it from him at that moment. I then expected to be told how much the ice creams would be so i could hand him some money and take the ice cream from him but neither he or the older woman actually told us so i had to count it up myself and put the money on the counter. She was too busy shouting at people to move down and asking people to pay in change if they could. Cherry ice cream was ok but nutella didnt taste of anything much. Wont be going back. There's too much competition for them to have such poor service.

I am absolutely sickened by my trip to Venetian ices. Firstly, during this hellish trip I happened to over hear the foul way she spoke to her own members of staff! As far as I was aware these quite young staff members were being nothing but polite and considerate... however it was clear the owner 'Lavinia' was NOT impressed, personally I do not wish to repeat what she said to the staff but it shook my soul. SECONDLY. The way this spiteful woman spoke to me and my family was horrendous. It was an averagely busy day as it was quite sunny, we didn't have to cue long however when we came to the counter the woman quite viciously said to my family 'what do you want' at that moment I was prepared to tell her 'where to go' and walk away however my children really wanted ice cream. We ordered our ice cream and I handed her the money ,no thanks from the 'lovely' lady but she did just stare right into my soul with her evil little eyes. THIRDLY (as if this review could get any worse!!!!) the ice cream was mediocre - AT BEST!! Quite frankly I urge anyone and everyone NEVER to visit this evil Icecream shop!! I pray that the young staff working there move on and find better jobs with kinder employers! I AM DISGUSTED.

Large meal, very good value. Simple uncomplicated food and what you order is what you get, no disappointments or surprises. Good service too.

This Italian ice cream shop is a good stopping place when out for a seafront walk. The choice of ice cream cones is excellent. Well worth trying.

Order took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and even then they got it wrong. Instead of bringing the order out in one go, it was brought to us separately, hence the long wait. Waitress didn't seem interested at all.

Visited yesterday and it was packed. The queue as moving well but the lady serving moved it along well. When we were served despite the pressure she was friendly and polite offering our youngest a free cone and topping our ice creams with vanilla free of charge.

I was appalled by the attitude of the owner. On the front, where the ice cream is situated, the owner was stood what appeared to be ready to serve. No! she was stood with her back to the counter on the phone. Bare in mind it was a warm day and many people were out on the sea front. But granted there wasn't anyone stood waiting. I didn't want to seem rude and interrupt her phone call so i just waited patiently. Finally when she acknowledged me i as greeted with the most clipped manner ever. And a "what do you want".

I was disappointed by what I witnessed on my visit here on good Friday. We called in to order some food to take away. While we were waiting I was shocked to hear the way the lady ( who could of been the owner) was speaking to the young man working there. As far as I could see he was doing a good job was polite and friendly to the customers. The poor lad couldn't do anything right and made it clear to him and people waiting she didn't want a bad review on trip advisor! I think the way the staff are spoken to definitely doesn't warrant a good one!

Excellent choice of delicious ice-cream. The kids loved milkybar and haribo flavours the best. We visited every day of our holidays.

We called here after having a walk along the prom. We chose our seats and the helpful waitress took our drinks order and explained how the carvery was served. We went up to the serving area and were given our plates and unusually with a carvery you helped yourself to your choice of meat , today it was beef pork or chicken . There was a good choice of fresh veg all piping hot and real Yorkshire puddings and tasty gravey. And the price was great 10 pounds for two people couldn't believe the value . They also serve a lovely assortment of puddings. All in all a great little restaurant great value for money we will be back and will be telling our friends and family all about it .

On a first trip to the town,we came across The Venetian Ices.The lady who served us could not have been more helpful,friendly or patient. But this was not the best bit as the ice cream was simply the best that I have ever tasted.The lady [possibly the owner] asked us if we would like to eat them inside,which we did.It was so clean,comfy and friendly in there that after our ice creams,we stayed for coffee [ again delicious].The food being served looked great too.I would recommend a visit to anyone.If you come to Whitley Bay,DO NOT MISS THIS!

Visiting from the States, the owner was most friendly and helpful. Her ice creams are all home made, and the two flavors we had were delicious. The owner saw a little boy and gave him an ice cream for free. We loved talking with her, but loved eating her ice cream even more. We are sorry we don't live closer.
