The Vegan Way Cafe in Braintree

I had a lovely vegan and gluten free meal at The Vegan Way, inside The Natural Way Independent Health Store today. All vegan food and massive choice and so tasty. The person I spoke with was super knowledgeable about all the ingredients in the foods. Lovely people. Lovely food. 10/10, would totally recommend!

What a wonderful little cafe! We stumbled across this lovely little cafe tucked away at the back of the Natural Way Health Store in the High Street. Such a friendly place. And staff were so knowledgeable about gf options. You can eat in or out - or take away, of course. We opted for eating out and enjoyed watching the world go by. One of us enjoyed a vegan gf filled pitta with lentil crisps, the other a most delicious vegan chocolate cake. So moist! We will definitely be back!! Visit if you can!!

We discovered this cafe on the way to Norfolk a couple of years ago so dropped in again when we were making another trip. The food is delicious, and there’s also cake. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cafe is at the back of the Natural Way shop so you can stock up on goodies while you’re there.

Stopped here on way to Colchester from Lincolnshire and glad we did. Fantastic experience, food & service, to be able to go in somewhere, pick anything off the menu & know it was vegan, amazing!! The meals were excellent too, highly recommend the African peanut stew and the squash & chickpea curry. Would definitely recommend visiting & eating here vegan or not.

Since the start of 2022 I made the decision to no longer eat meat and become a vegetarian. When I learned that in my local town there was a Vegan Cafe I had to try it. The Cafe is at the back of a shop that is very helpful for all your needs if you're Vegan/Vegetarian or just fancy using different products to cook with. The staff were really friendly and genuinely interested in why I had decided to make the change. I tried the Breakfast Muffin which had a Bacon alternative in it, I have always found that Bacon is one of the foods they haven't been able to get quite right. The 'rashers' that were in this Muffin were excellent. I really enjoyed my Muffin and I tried a Vegan Brownie too, very enjoyable. Overall it was an excellent experience and I will be bringing my wife along next time and sit in and enjoy it. I highly recommend The Vegan Way Cafe, even if you're not a Vegan/Veggie.

You will meet enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly staff whom will help you with any query regarding well being and vegan food. The cafe`serves lovely vegan meals and snacks. I highly recommend this venue.

We have eaten here primarily because they offer great allergy friendly food for my husband, but I have become a firm follower of their Vegan Chickpea Curry! It is really delicious! Love the friendly atmosphere and kind attention to detail they show at all times. Highly recommend a visit for all food lovers whether Vegan or not!

We had a vegan oreo milkshake and doughnut to take away here, last time we came in. Absolutely delish!! Staff are delightful and would recommend to everyone !

A hidden gem of a cafe with a great selection of breakfasts and brunches and meals for dinner and lunches (how poetic)! The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly and the service second to none - this is a family run business with attention to detail, there is also a sustainable element to the shop attached. I recommend from the cafe: the sausage rolls- mine was fresh from the oven From the shop: the kefir and rose water- wonderful on a day where the temperature rose to 30•

The food and atmosphere is amazing and it is my favourite place to grab lunch or tea out of all the resturants and cafes in Chelmsford and Colchester. There are so many nice options and cakes that you can take away or eat in.

I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here today with my friend, so much so I had to come back and write a review straight away. The staff are so friendly and polite, lots of choice on the menu and were more than happy to facilitate any requests. Food and drinks were absolutely delicious and cooked fresh. The vegan breakfast muffin was gorgeous as was my friends cake! We both got takeaways aswell. Shop stocked very well with products from cleaning, to store cupboard, toiletries, well being, and so much more. I have been looking for another local vegan shop now I won’t go anywhere else. We can’t wait to go back and try lunch. highly recommend. Thank-you :)

Love this place. Great addition to the shop. The food is wonderful. They started with sausage rolls and cakes and now have soups, curries, stews. So much choice and all delicious. And don’t forget to try the CBD hot chocolate.

Love this place, they have regular options on the menu and hot dishes that change so you get to try different things all the time. So many gluten free options and everything is vegan which is amazing. The best thing, if you have something you like, they have a shop and you can buy the ingredients to make it yourself!!! They can do takeaways too and they use all compostable packaging which is a really nice touch. The staff are really nice and helpful, it’s a lovely cozy atmosphere. My little boy loves their chocolate cake and my daughter the cappuccino. Happy days

The food was delicious, staff were lovely, sweet little café with great vegan options. It's so nice having more than one option I can choose on the menu let alone being able to choose anything.

I was quite excited discovering this place on the web prior to a visit to Braintree as I love Vegan food, independent cafes etc...and reading these reviews bolstered my anticipation. But when I arrived it turned out that it’s a very small operation, very much an add on, side hussle to the shop. They didn’t have the menu items that I’d been seeking (and the guy there was not very helpful about suggesting similar alternatives) and the dining area was more of an alcove off the shop which seemed a bit claustrophobic and as there was noone in there (it was about 1pm on a Weds afternoon) and I was there solo it wasn’t really appealing to eat there alone. So I decided not to. Therefore I can’t comment on the food but was just not what I expected

If you ever find yourself in Braintree, Essex I can highly recommend the Vegan Way cafe.Popped in there today for the first time with my friend. Had coconut lentil soup and an oat latte, they had lots of yummy looking cakes, a piece of which I bought for later Lovely friendly atmosphere, will definitely visit here again next time I’m in Braintree

Popped on for a cup of coffee and ended up having lunch. A delicious sweet potato and coconut curry served with a homemade scone. The coffee was organic and specially blended for the cafe. Very smooth. I bought two of the vegan sausage rolls to take home. Forget Greggs - these are truly amazing. Homemade and absolutely wonderful. My only regret is that I didn’t buy more!

Stopped for lunch while shopping here, such a lovely little cafe with friendly staff. We had the best vegan burger! I will definitely be back to try some of the cakes :)

My friend and I popped into The Vegan Way Cafe this weekend as we had worked up an appetite from charity shopping! This cafe is so peaceful and cosy, we could have sat there all day.We each had a BBQ jackfruit wrap which was delicious, I also has a peanut butter (oat)milkshake which was so yummy! The staff were so very kind and made sure we were enjoying our lunch and this place really did have a good vibe. There were lots of vegan options so we were in heaven! I regret not trying any of the cake but I guess it's just an excuse to come back!Would recommend this cafe, even if you aren't vegan!

Only stopped in briefly on my lunch break. Ordered a burger and a sausage roll because I craved Friday junk food! It did not disappoint and it only took 10 mins. There's also tonnes of refrigerated vegan food, so I will be back for sure.

An excellent find in Braintree High St. Superb vegan dishes at an excellent price in a lovely cafe attached to a great health food shop. Knowledgable and friendly staff complete a great experience. Well worth a try.

It’s hard to find food made with care and a passion for what’s being created! Look no further as The Vegan Way has exactly that.

Popped in for the first time last week, had a Vegan Sausage Roll straight out of the oven and the best Oat Milk Latte I've had. Will be popping back again soon to try their lunch offering or grabbing a takeaway slice of cake.

the shop has always been a wonderful source of vegan food so i knew the cafe would be awesome. its beautifully decorated and is full of charm and the cake is amazing. there is a huge range of drinks and the staff feel like old friends.

Small café at back of shop - friendly efficient service. Good choice of homemade vegan food and drink. Good to see a café offering something different in Braintree and deserves to do well.

The cafe is located at the back of the Natural Way Health Food Shop, which means that it opens according to the opening hours of the shop. There is limited seating, but it is beautifully decorated by local artist Amanda Sheldrake.
