Excellent food and service.Call in frequently with dogs/grand children.Always a warm welcome. Can sit inside and be cosy or there is an outdoor seating area.Good choice of draught beers and selection of wine.New revamped lunch menu which is excellent value and superb quality. My husband had faggots peas and mash and I had the battered cod which was crispy and fresh and came with chips peas tartare sauce and cooked lemon wedge. Both meals came to under£15 in total.Thoroughly recommend this traditional pub.

The Valley was the first pub we visited whilst on holiday on The Gower and we made lots of return visits! The bar staff were all really friendly and welcoming and also gave some great recommendations on places to visit nearby and the best dog friendly beaches. Very family friendly but with a nice calm environment. There are places to sit outside and also a seating area inside which is dog friendly. We ate a few times and food was excellent with a fantastic choice. The food was particularly good on weekends when the main chef was cooking, flavours and presentation were exceptional. 100% would recommend!

We visited this pub back in the spring after driving up from Langland bay.It was a great find as the food was really good. The pub is really nice so we decided to give it another go this summer. The waiting staff are great and the food did not disappoint but our visit (of which we traveled 20 miles to repeat) was marred by the chef who likes the sound of his own voice. He was loud and obnoxious whilst ordering/training his staff.Eating out is as much about the experience as the food Please turn the volume down as you may get your staff to stay with you. Gordon Ramsey you are not?

Really nice friendly service! Much better than one might expect from a pub. Extra delicious sauce from the chef when we asked. Menu looks a bit gastropub/same same but the specials delivered much more than that and the fish and chips was nice too. Only downer was that the condiment sauces were not good ones at all. More babaganoush please!

Delicious Sunday lunch. Lovely staff and service. Only issue was incredibly limited menu, and they'd sold out of chicken so only trust meat was beef, but it was lovely all the same.

We had a pleasant meal here and enjoyed the local cider. It did have large TV screens but we managed to ignore them Easy to book on a Monday night and the atmosphere was good

Been twice here during our stay in the Gower. Both times had excellent service, good quality food (including plenty of vegetarian options) and no booking required. Good value too.

My cousin and her partner came to stay the week before last and we went to The Valley for Sunday lunch. The fist thing we noticed was the amazing guitarist, playing brilliantly, it gave lovely ambience while we had lunch. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, charming or polite, we were promptly seated, given menus and drinks brought over. All three of us ordered lamb, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The meat was perfectly cooked and tender, the Yorkshire puddings like clouds, and lots of dishes of well cooked vegetables, not too crisp, not soggy at all! All three of us stopped chatting and tucked in, despite having not seen each other for years, so delicious was the meal. Two of us finished off with Chocolate Fudge Cake and one with Sticky Toffee Pudding, sadly, although there was nothing to complain of, they weren’t homemade - the only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars. A great experience and I’ll certainly be back soon.

We stayed nearby for our holiday so we tried this pub one day for lunch. It was ok: not terrible but nothing mind-blowing either. If you're around and looking for a place to eat before or after a hike for example, it's worth a visit I guess.

Popped in here for a quick refreshing beer after a bit of a walk in The Gower. Not perhaps as inviting or friendly as its neighbour The Joiners but still a good pint and not bad value. Nice decor too but the smoking area at the back is might rough!

Good welcome and service. I had to leave my credit card behind the bar, to which I normally object, but agreed to on this occasion as I was dealing directly with the lady landlord I think, who appeared totally trustworthy. We ordered from the blackboard. Fairly good pub food selection, with prices lower than you would typically find in a good restaurant. The battered fillet of cod selction was interesting - you could choose large or small. Having walked 9 miles those of us who wanted cod went for the larghe. What an enormous piece of cod. Certaibly more than one mortal could comfortably eat! Had I known I'd have gone for the small and saved £4, and felt better afterwards. No complaints about quality with any of the meals ordered. and meals were enjoyed - particularly by the non-cod eaters! Beer selection was good. Would go again!

Enjoyed a very nice evening meal here during our holiday at May half term. Needed to find a dog friendly place as was drizzly and a bit chilly to eat outside. This ticked the box the staff were happy to have dogs in the bar area and we enjoyed a good lamb dinner that evening very tasty. We found the locals were happy to chat to us as well which put us at our ease as it is not always comfortable on Holiday with dogs if not able to find somewhere to go, especially if weather not warm.

Val ,the landlady is a great host,a really warm person. The pub is a typical country style with various beers and lagers including real ale. The menu is quite extensive and all fresh, my favourite is the large cod and chips and a pint of Reverend James.

The place is a hidden gem. Its a small venue, but the food is spectacular, so book to make sure you have a seat! Menu has updated recently and all for the better, but the tapas is still and absolute stalwart. Get the Korean chicken, you won't be disappointed!

Midweek family lunch. Phone call made prior to visiting to ensure food was available as last time we visited no food available due to fryers not working. On entering this establishment we noticed a cat inside premises drinking milk from a cup on the floor in the restaurant. The whole place had an unpleasant stale aroma and very cold dark and dingy. The tables sticky and menus the same. Service limited and unfriendly. Large notices advising no vegan food available. We eventually made our choices and ordered at the bar. Food arrived promptly on warm plates. Portions quite small but food was reasonable. Overall a ok ish visit but this place is in desperate need of a good deep clean and would benefit from re decorating. Would we re visit or recommend, probably not.
