Elwyn in Swansea

We came here originally when it first opened. The bar was cool with interesting beers and wines and excellent inventive food. This appears to have changed. Has the place changed hands? Very disappointing wouldn’t recommend.

Wonderful venue and lovely aspect. Bar manger was very entertaining and made us feel right at home. Even when card machine played up ha ha. Food came out fresh and was delicious we could have stayed all night and soaked up the atmosphere as the place came alive. Wonderful vibe here. Very good sevice. Fresh well balanced dishes, excellent value. Another place you need to visit if in the Mumbles - we have been waiting a while to come back and eat here - no disappointment here. A return visit will be planned soon.

Lovely food and excellent service - they took time and trouble to make sure my four year old was happy with his meal!

We dined here as a couple on a Saturday evening. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere was lively enough to be entertaining, but still relaxed enough to enjoy our food and talk between ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, and would happily return time and time again whether it be for drinks and nibbles or a big meal.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here on a Sunday afternoon. Good selection of food on the menu including vegetarian and vegan options. Everyone was more than happy with their food choices - calamari, tomato/mozzarella salad, garlic mushrooms for starters and risotto, vegetarian meatballs, ragu chicken. Followed by chocolate cheesecake. The food was amazing! The service was excellent too. Highly recommended.

Went on a Wednesday evening so pretty much the only people in there. Menu advertised on website wasn’t present, instead a menu that consisted of solely of meat dishes and no fish or veggie options as mains, so as a pescatarian I was at a bit of a loss. Chef kindly offered to whip us up a seafood pasta dish, which was decent even though deshelling the prawns took ages. Starter was £6 and consisted of nothing more than Parmesan and a strange edible hollow cyclinder that didn’t taste of anything. Waiteresses we’re nice enough even though the wine served wasn’t very chilled. Altogether not a great meal for a place that advertises itself as high dining.

Quirky bar with a great selection of craft ales and lagers. Bar staff were awesome, really friendly and accommodating. We went back for lunch the following afternoon - tasty business! Chicken tacos, wow. Say no more.

This was such a shame. We visited back in July and had some amazing food and saw so much more to come back for on offer. Sadly on our return in October it didn't really deliver. It may be because this was off season. We will still come back as it's a great venue at the heart of it.

Never had a chance to taste the food. We've booked after reading a sign saying "tables available" and when we turned up they said the kitchen was fully booked and we couldn't stay. I was so looking forward to it I'm not even sure how that kind of mistake can be made (especially because the sign had not been removed). The disappointment is such that we won't try again

To the person that served us. I know I’m not a member of the “hip crowd” but your contempt for myself and my family was palpable. It dripped off everything you said and did and made the night highly awkward and unpleasant. Please remember that you work in a bar and your job is to serve, not judge. Too cool for school. Will not go again.

Beer good, but the Mexican food was not great. Had some sort of steak dish and it was so tough it couldnt be eaten. Its not cheap either so would expect better.

We were served by Joe and Lottie both of whom provide absolutely brilliant service, going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had the time of our lives while at Elwyn. I would recommend to the strangest stranger wholeheartedly. Brilliant!

Great spot!!! Awesome selection of beers, amazing tunes (credit where credit is due!), food was outstanding - chicken tacos 10/10 - and the staff are all so warm and friendly. Very special vibe going on at Elwyns, 1000% worth checking out for a meal and a drink, made our trip! Thank you all from the kiwi and Aussie ;)

Came in for food in the afternoon and stayed on for drinks through the evening, thoroughly enjoyed both! Brilliant selection of drinks on offer and the staff were all very friendly! Would highly recommend!

We moved down to Mumbles 15 years ago from London and one thing we really missed was a good restaurant serving tasty and exciting food I've been 4 times and each time the menu was different, however the quality remained excellent George and his team are not afraid to experiment with different takes on dishes. The standout night so far. Oysters done in 4 different ways and the tastiest ribs I've ever had Its not the cheapest place to eat, but food of this quality is worth every penny

Elwyn is a new addition to Mumbles that persevered due to its untimely opening at the beginning of 2020. Since then, and despite the gloabl events, they have hit their target of providing innovative and locally sourced food and drink. With fresh updates every week, the food is often surprising and always delicious. The staff is also friendly and laid back in keeping with a seaside village. More importantly, Elwyn has also contributed to the local community, firstly by providing takeaways when most businesses were closed, secondly by working with the local council to arrange outdoor eating areas, and thirdly by supporting local businesses ranging from independent chefs, local meat/fish/veg distributors, as well as local breweries and wine merchants. Their focus on the community has resulted many positive changes in the village and a regeneration along Mumbles road.

You could be anywhere in the world in this place. It’s really elevated the food scene in Swansea. The chef is extremely skilled and adventurous with flavour combinations that knock your socks off. Staff are beyond helpful, and so attentive, especially the manager. It feels like everyone is always having a great time behind the bar and in the kitchen, which radiates throughout the venue, which in its self is an eclectic mix of decor that sets the scene perfectly. A little slice of London on Mumbles Rd. how lucky are we? This place is such a vibe, 100% our new local (even though It’s half hour away)

Elwyn is a lovely little bar (also serving food!). Nestled along the seafront road through Mumbles with upstairs seating and a tent in the gardens opposite, Elwyn serves local food and a variety of drinks (including independent brands and breweries). From beer and wine to cocktails, and a range of snacks and plates on offer, this place is well worth a visit for take-away or sitting in. Additional plus point - the staff are just lovely.

Had a fantastic afternoon drinking in their tent opposite the venue. Good choice of craft beer and wine, we spent the afternoon drinking House Party by Lervig. Food was great, especially enjoyed the Chicken wings and Prawn croquetas. One of my favourite places in Swansea

We enjoyed a delicious chicken and ham pie supper as a takeaway. Fantastic short pastry, tasty meat content, all well presented with creamy mash, roast carrot and mustard sauce. What a treat.

Elwyn is a unique blend of bar and tapas - managing to pull off both perfectly. An interesting and wide range of craft beers bolsters a stock of traditional spirits and cocktails, including some Welsh gins and an extensive wine list. The food is ace too, with guest chefs taking stints in the kitchen allowing for an ever-changing style. Decor is rustic, with bare brick and copper pipes, but it works well with Elwyn's atmosphere. Upstairs is a nice space with views of the sea. This is a place to go for a few drinks and a light snack. There is also a tent in the next-door park for additional drinking space.

Could be really nice but the place is hurt by hour wait times for food and drink and customers who are generally loud and quite rude. There’s also a sack on the wall next to the bar that is insensitive and completely out of place....

Lovely little new place in mumbles. Tapas dishes all had unique flavour combinations which were so dreamy. As a group we shared the onion bhaji rings, the beetroot, chicken wings, lamb skewer, scallops and some fries. They were all amazing! Wines were also lovely &...

Very recently opened friendly stop for great plates of food and thoughtful quality snacks. Lovely welcome offered. Good wine selection, keenly prices. Enjoy a Mumbles gin - no disappointments.
