Audrey was an excellent waitress. The fish and chips were also excellent. If I come back to London one day I would wish the service was as good as Audrey’s

Just incredibly "meh". There are paints that dry quicker than the service here. And, whilst the steak was tasty and well cooked, the starter was incredibly underwhelming. Ate her for convenience while staying in the hotel, next time I'll take a walk to find an alternative.

Used this restaurant twice over a long weekend as it's part of the Novotel and convenient if you're staying there. On the first night we ordered starters and mains via a seemingly attentive waiter. However, this is where it starts to go downhill. When our food arrived, the mains were laid in front of us first. I thought they'd just forgotten our starters, but then our starters were then placed next to our mains! Once we'd finished our starter-main combo, we were promptly forgotten about and had to flag down someone to have the table cleared and the dessert menu given to us. The waiting staff's English was passable, but I found a select few of them quite curt, borderline rude. On the second time, we both ordered the same dish, but only one was put through to the kitchen, so I had to wait further while they rushed to make my missing dinner. I thought the quality of the food was nice and the prices were OK for London? We had the ribeye and the burger across the two nights and both were very good. Found the drinks to be quite pricey though, and they whack on a service charge of 10% to your bill. Overall, a passable experience in that I didn't go to bed hungry, and though the food was nice, the poor service and general mismanagement put a dampener on both experiences.

Channel delivered incredible service, and was holding it together alone. Other members of staff delivered very poor service. The ambience is nice and music was good and at a good volume, however the food and cocktails were simply appalling. I do not recommend this place for food, perhaps you would have a good time having just drinks (stay away from cocktails though, I ordered a Pimm’s that came in a water glass without any fruit in it).

Went here for mcm may 2023 on all 3 days for dinner. Generally was not a good time as: - Friday: Friend ordered just chips but the box was not even half full. Barely the bottom of the box. I saw three other staff laugh and smile before coming back with 1 staff saying it is a lot. Other friend had to complain and really push just to get a fair amount of food. Other friends food tasted bland, especially the burger. Also, when I said I'd pay for 3 wines, the staff at the till said "3?!?". I get its a bit much, but her look and tone was a lot. - Saturday: Didn't know till days later as I left early. But food was bland, started playing incredibly loud music halfway through the meal and made my friends wait 45 mins for the bill and asked 'I guess you don't want to pay for the service charge'. - Sunday: Came this day as I thought Friday was a one-time thing and wanted to give a second chance, especially as its close to the con. The same staff member was a bit sharp and whenever I'd say thanks or anything similar, there would be a moment of silence and she would say something perhaps similar to enjoy food but couldn't really hear her. I also asked for a jack daniels and asked what she'd recommend. Her response in her expression was like confused as to why I was asking. Got coke in the end as thats the normal but made the situation awkward. The food was still bland but the pizza was good. In general, staff was monotone the whole time apart from the one staff member who was kind to me to take my plate. She was the only professional person there. I did like the look of the river being on the outside and look of the resturant too, but once you get served by staff, that's where it goes downhill. On all days, it was barely busy too, so I don't know why I waited long.

It started out well and then went down hill really fast! I was staying at the Novotel, so this was the first place that I tried for my evening meals most nights. My first dinner here went without any problems, got seated straight away, served and had food brought out at a decent speed. However I feel this was due to the fact that the bar was empty, as when it gets busy it just feels like they fall apart and cannot cope with that amount of people even though they are situated right next to an events venue and should know what events will be on and roughly how busy it will be. With this, one evening they were completely sold out of most things, then on another night we were told when ordering that there would be an hour and half wait for the food to arrive. I feel this was a ploy to stop people ordering food so they could catch up on what they were doing. Finally, the last night we were there we had the worst service ever. This is due to a complete disregard to a food allergy! My friend made it completely clear that they had an allergy, the waiter even confirmed it when they typed it into the ipad when taking the order. When the food came out, the food item that my friend has an allergy with was sitting there on the plate, we made it clear once again that this is an allergy that can be extreme and the waiter took the meal away. Within minutes, the plate was back out without the item. This meant that all they did was to take the item off the plate and send it back out. We sent it back as it's been contaminated and asked to speak to the manager explaining the severity of the issue. Awhile later, the food came out with a side salad in a bowl, which you guessed it, had the item of food in too. We asked them to remove the side salad and my friend started eating the main. After taking a couple of bites, he realised that the meal wasn't a complete fresh one and had still had been in contact with the food item as he was now having tingling lips. Luckily he was able to take some antihistamines and was able to control it.

While attending an after party at the ICE conference we happened upon this buffet style restaurant that was located in the same room. Half way through eating, having not been greeted at entry we were given a number. At no point did any staff say this food was not part of the after party. Upon exiting we were charged 110£. Over all poor execution by the management and staff of keeping tabs on the patrons and what is included for them and what is not. "Seems a bit cheeky" comment made by hostess was spot on. You know exactly what you are doing.

Yesterday i went to the restaurant, the food was very nice. I had a good experience with my family. I met Sara in the restaurant she is a very nice person, she has very good skills. The way how she was serving us it was very nice and everything was beautiful. We will definietly come back. I want to mention again thank you Sara for the good service! <3

Nos alojamos en el hotel y el restaurante fue una grata sorpresa. Éramos un grupo grande y pedimos pizzas y pasta. Todos los comensales acabamos muy contentos. Las pizzas, la pasta, el pan de ajo... todo muy bueno y más barato que los restaurantes de la zona. Tanto el personal de cafetería como el de seguridad fueron muy amables y pacientes con los niños. Además resultó ser un sitio fantástico para ver los partidos de la Copa del Mundo de Fútbol.

Booked half board and received a £30 allowance, per person, towards dinner which was plenty. Unfortunately, our starters were not great. We all had the Burratta and 2 out of the 3 weren't fully defrosted, let alone served at the correct temperature. When we pointed this out to the waiter he picked up a knife, poked and prodded it then informed us that was how it was supposed to be. When we insisted it wasn't, he asked us what we'd like him to do. We just asked him to take it away. He returned and told us that the chef said it was served correctly. It wasn't. When our main courses arrived, we had two pizzas and a salmon linguine, the pizzas were excellent . Good bases, generously topped, nicely seasoned and very tasty. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the pasta. It was well cooked, but tasted like it had no seasoning. Very disappointing. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, great selection, well cooked/prepared and very tasty. Would thoroughly recommend. When checking out, we were informed that we hadn't been charged for our drinks the previous night, which was a nice gesture, but would have been nice to be told at the time. All in all, will definitely be returning for bed breakfast, but not for dinner.

Staff not happy to be at work. Stayed in a hotel, lovely gent in hotel part - treated us like million dollar customer. Bar staff very cold/chilling service. No smile please or thank you. Felt like I was troubling them ordering couple of drinks. Eleven o’clock 5 people gathered on the terrace to kick us out as they are closing terrace bit. Bit upsetting as we stayed In a hotel.

This is supposed to be a restaurant which is a part of a 4 star hotel? I would be more inclined to say 1 star after my families experience. First of all its very expensive with bad quality food and flat beer. The customer service seems to be non existent, the staff are friendly enough but they just seem to dissappear and have to wait a long time for anything. When asking for the bill, we waited nearly 10 minutes before I eventually gave up and went to the bar to pay. I then paid and got a receipt afterwards to see that they had overcharged me for a coke which we didn't order but by this point we were nearly out of the hotel and with a small child we didn't want to go back inside over this. They also charged us 10% service charge which is very excessive considering the bad service. We will definitely not be back to this place and will be encouraging anyone and everyone to also stay away. We seen tables which were empty for a long time and the staff weren't clearing them.

We were greeted by Saif and Jake, they ensured we had the fastest service by making sure we ordered soon as there was a big crowd also waiting. The food came really quick and was lovely. They made sure our drinks were always topped up and were lovely people. would definitely recommend !!

I loved the food!!! The Chicken Tikka Masala with Pilau rice was to die for! Very friendly staff ( Richard was a diamond) At the Breakfast Audrey was very friendly and helpful. Cristina was very kind and made us feel relaxed and at home. They care about their profession and the clients!

This review is about a specific weekend, that I will emphasise they were obviously expecting to be busy & therefore had changed how they behaved. I have previously eaten at this restaurant, and the menu was gorgeous, nice up scale dining with good selection & variety. However, when heading to meet friends from a nearby event, we expected the same kind of food & were greeted by a hugely reduced menu (down to pizza or burgers) with zero dessert option. We didn't want to go elsewhere, so we ordered after having been ignored for over 10 minutes (a part of 5 were seated and served straight away & if I hadn't got the waitstaff's attention st that point we may still be waiting). Before our food had even arrived, the waitstaff was back demanding that we pay, and then was obviously disheartened that we wanted to pay seperately. The food was large portions, well cooked & excellently tasty, but given the abject lack of service, I resent that I paid in advance for a 10% service charge, and that I was treated as someone to be processed while mostly having been ignored.

We were staying at the Novotel ExCel and were looking for a good place to eat - and it is here. The selection is limited, but the food is prepared well. We had fish and chips and the meal was clean, crisp and delicious! The Buddha bowl was filled with fresh vegetables, equally delicious. The service was wonderful - Simonetta was very helpful and always ready to serve. The locum is quiet, comfortable, and you have a wonderful view of the wharf. All in all, a good place for a simple bite that is scrumptious.

Nice, unassuming restaurant inside the Hotel Novotel Excel London. I had the linguine al salmone with a glass of Malbec, and finished it off with a chocolate truffle cake. All were delightful, and the staff were attentive and friendly.

Enjoyed a lovely steak on the second night of my stay at the hotel. I was dining alone as had travelled from work. Service was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly and attentive. Also used the bar during my stay and had breakfast both days and also found staff and service there friendly and efficient too!

The place itself was nice and there is a roof terrace. I reserved a table for me and my team the day before our visit so that we could sit on the terrace. When arriving there was nobody to greet. Went to the bar and they acknowledged but then served somebody else. When they eventually went to show us to a table, they told us none were available. Apparently somebody sat at our reserved table but they would not move them. Food was very average and expensive. Service was bad, forgot our water, no check back. Just another rubbish place surrounded by other rubbish places.

Pre ordered food and waited 1hr 30mins for it. Waitress was really rude and kept saying '5 more minutes'. They gave us bread and butter for waiting and no plates. They then handed our colleague the plates to hand out! Never again. Dont eat here!

First Breakfast of 2 day stay very poor quality food of which, ran out of basics - orange juice, fruit salad, bread loaf, plus Long queues for hot food & drinks all due to large contingent of girls attending an event. Noticed too few staff worked hard to clear tables of shocking amount of un-finished food/drinks left! All areas were super busy with absolutely NO Covid protocols being observed. Following day realised that the Hotel really offers a budget and low quality breakfast. Also wonder why I and all guests asked room number followed by Novotel or Ibis??

The rooms are ok, but wow is the bar badly managed. Slow and poorly staffed, constant mistakes, and a really bad attitude. The bar is understaffed, but the staff that are there are the slowest I've ever experienced in London! And then the food... after waiting over an hour for 4 meals, one came out cold, the vegetarian meal came out covered in chicken, and one meal was missing. After raising this, no-one from the bar staff, duty manager or reception could care less. The only consistent response was "not my problem". Shocking.

Ordered a dinner - a salmon, with two side dishes: vegetables and garlic bread. The bread was very good, the vegetables were fresh and tasted good. The salmon was fried, and lay on a quinoa, spinach and lentil(?) bed - tasted very good. Everything was served in a very aesthetic way. Service was attentive and good. Yet I should add that I was the second only visitor, maybe since I arrived early (18:30ish). Dish prices are pretty high.

Stopped by at The Wharf in London for a glass of wine, early afternoon on Fri 2nd Aug. Had fabulous service from Lathiana, our lovely Columbian waitress. Would thoroughly recommend this place based on her alone.

After visiting the Belfast we popped upstairs for a refreshing drink. It was a lovely day and it was so relaxing sitting looking over the River Thames and HMS Belfast. Could have sat there all day chatting

Came for dinner as a resident. Limited choices, slow service and my main of mac cheese probably the worst I have eaten. My colleagues had fish and chips which they rated good. Wouldn't do dinner here again if staying.

A nice place to get away from the blandness of the rest. Good food, reasonably priced with attentive staff. Menu could perhaps have a bit more variety. Service charge not added automatically which is how it should be with bar snack menus.

As a regular customer here, it saddens me that the clientele has significantly declined in recent months. On my last two recent visits, there has been groups of people being exceptionally loud and using foul language. On both occasions this is early in the evening. Sadly the bar staff are ignoring this. I am no prude, but I would not expect this in a establishment of this calibre. I hope the management do something to address this shortly.

Een gezellige hotelbar waar we met een grote groep vertoefden na onze werkdagen. Bediening kan wat vlotter. Hier 1x geluncht met onze groep en dit viel qua snelheid tegen. Kwaliteit van t eten wel dik in orde.

Went here with my sister and teenage daughter. The food and service was average but the setting was nice. They automatically add a large service charge which I didn't think was deserved but they took it off when requested.

Just had the club sandwich and Hot Dog but very good quality nice crispy fries and all food was hot. Not bad value and it went down very well.Service was very good with very friendly staff. Obviously many more choices on menu but this was all we fancied and were not disappointed in our choices.

My Thai chicken curry was nice... Small menu choice , 1 min away from Excel building, I enjoyed to have a proper meal after 4 days spent in the noice.

Great choises for adult, kids alike. High quality fine dining or just pizza or fish and chips. All up to you but prices still very very reasonable great views too.

Pareil pour le plat de mon copain, donc je ne sais plus le nom mais c'était des ribs ^.^ Le personnel était très sympathique, le cadre également même si je pense que de jour ou en début de soirée ca donne encore plus de charme au cadre !! Nous avons accompagné tout ca d 1 bouteille d eau et de 2 boissons type bière + cidre ... Nous sortons avec une addition de 53,90£ je trouve que cela est un bon prix pour ce que nous avons eu dans nos assiettes .

Staying just across the way on the Sunborn Yacht, my partner and I visited for birthday cocktails which were all very good. Luckily they also had a pizza station with excellent service to take a pizza away with us.

The location overlooking the London docks is quite unique, the restaurant coudl use it as an asset. Unfortunately the Novotel style decoration spoils it and the result in the plate isn't at the level of the expectations set by the ambitious menu.The ony good news is the bar and pizza parlour.If only hotels of this level could aim at efficient food rather than promises that seem beyond what they can deliver.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food served. Two of us had chicken curry and one had ribeye steak with trimmings. We had a few drinks and the bill came to around £60. Excellent value for money in London. The staff, although agency staff, were friendly and most attentive.

Stopped for a light lunch prior to checking into the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The menu was fairly standard and although the bar area was quiet the service was slow and un-engaging,The food was ok, not great but pleasant enough and probably (over)priced as you would expect in this area. This place is ok if you are in the area but not worth seeking out.

Sat opp chandeliers which was lovely to enjoy that view and river the other side. my only complaint is staff are too helpful and eager to the 'next course'... for me dining out is an experience to be enjoyed and definitely in these surroundings.. its a pleasure to take time to enjoy the food, wine, company and ambiance... no need to rush! a bit more relax time needed.

I recently went to have a drink and something to eat as I was in the area and would not hesitate to go again. There was a private party in the bar, and it was busy. But that didn't stop the staff from being friendly. Teo was a delight, excellent service and loved her recommendations of Nachos with beef. The team seemed to be well trained and very organised. Liana, the bar manager, is a credit to the bar and Novotel hotel.

We stayed in Novotel for Christmas and spent quite a bit of time in the Upper Deck bar. It was great experience - nice food, adequate prices, lovely atmosphere and professional staff! Personal thanks to Anastasia, which helped us to wake up with the morning coffee &amp; Liana, which helped us to relax with the evening cocktails! :)

We passing by the hotel , we decide to have something to drink at the bar with friends, we had a superb night, the cocktails was absolutely lovely, and we meet to gorgeous girls with great customer service and very friendly, thxt to liana and teoedora, you are amazing

I had a small lunch here on New Years Day - no other restaurants were open so I settled for the hotel bar/restaurant. Service was adequate but not great. There was only one bartender and she was managing the whole space to the best of her ability. I ordered the superfood salad and fries - the salad is huge and quite filling. I wouldn't recommend getting the chicken with it as it's just grilled chicken strips from the bag.

All good, the four of us ordered different dishes and were happy with everything. Service was attentive and friendly.

Found the food bland and expensive the staff need to be better trained , it's not their fault. For the quality of food the prices are not reflected- I would advise going elsewhere

Returning to our hotel after a theatre trip it took 15 minutes to attract they eye of a drinks waiter. Bar was quiet. One group had ordered cocktails. One barman making, other two staff busy chatting rather than working the floor. Could do better

I visited the restaurant on two nights. The first time the greeting at the entrance was just OK, but on the second night I felt welcome. The waitress was charming and attentive on both occasions. The ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce was first class, the starter (a meze) was excellent, too. The portion size was generous, which did not allow any space for pudding!

We were staying over the road and decided to nip over for some lunch. We found the bar which served the food during this time and sat down. A waitress served us throughout. We ordered a virgin mojito and a beer - the cocktail was great for being non alcoholic however I did feel like we waited some time for them. We ordered nachos for starter (which I specifically said) then penne carbonara and fish and chips. The fish and chips looked and apparently tasted beautiful however we did find a bone in the fish. The carbonara was faultless, I could eat it 100 times over! The only problem was all of the food came out together so we were unable to enjoy your STARTER due to eating our mains. We would have loved them to come out correctly so we could enjoy it all as unfortunately a lot of our nachos went to waste. Despite that, it was a good price and the food tasted lovely. I would definitely pop in if your in the area, passing by, unsure of where to go for food or are staying in the hotel.

La première fois c'était parfait. Le Fish &amp; Chips était correct et le service aimable. Mais hier soir ma serveuse demande à une collègue où me placer. Celle ci lui répond dans un langage un peu fruste de me mettre derrière le buffet à côté de la cuisine. Je ne me laisse pas impressionner et demande une place près de la fenêtre. Bien sûr, vu que je suis seul on me répond que ce n'est pas possible. Il me faut vraiment insister pour avoir gain de cause et une table en second rang. J'avais quand même une vue meilleur que à côté de la cuisine. Pour se venger sans doute, le poisson qu'on me sert est ridicule ! Mais j'avais la vue. Inutile de dire que les tables de devant sont restées inoccupées et que bien sûr je n'ai pas laisse de pourboire. Je ne reviendrai plus. Il y a d'autres restaurants très sympa autour de l'hôtel.

Je suis toujours méfiant avec les restaurants des Novotel, mais ici, pas de carte stéréotypée made in novotel.Des recettes de pates variées et excellentes (Linguine à l'encre de seiche, humm), des burgers excellents (notamment un végétarien) et plein de starter très sympa.Le personnel est plutot sympa et l'ambiance plutot fun... bref, je recommande.Et le budget est facilement maitrisé

Istvan and Liana are great supervisors with great attention to detail I personally witnessed them accommodate guests who left hotel then their plane got cancelled who came back to hotel and made a disgruntled group of Dutch citizens very happy with their courtesy and attention. Good people always make places much better. Not to mention that this Canadian American recommends this place if you have a conference nearby. Áldás békesség doc K

Nice view and nicely greeted at the bar but ordered a french fries 45 minutes ago and still waiting for it to arrive. The manager/supervisor is busy smoking with the guests.

We'd enjoyed a great but hot and busy day in London and needed a relaxed bite to eat in the evening.The Novotel served our needs excellently. Service was spot on and swift, the food was very nice and the price was very acceptable too.We will return!
