**Review for The Sportsman Pub, Stratford** I recently visited The Sportsman Pub in Stratford with friends and family. About a month ago my family had a surprise lunch here for my nan's 90th birthday. It was a casual lunch but I have to thank Gemma for going above her role to make it an EXTRA special one! From allocating us a big enough table to making sure our food came out together. It was a busy Saturday with others in the pub, yet Gemma would check- in on us throughout to make sure everyone was okay, then topped it off by rallying the whole pub signing happy birthday to my nan!! Obviously we couldn't eat our birthday cake within the pub, but Gemma briefly allowed us to take a quick picture before putting it away. Gemma was absolutely amazing and kind while still running that busy pub. What a star! Thank you Sportsman & team! x

I have been using The Sportsman for the last few years to hold an annual get together with some friends. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. Gemma in particular goes out of her way to make sure we're happy with our food. She was even willing to take a photo of us when I asked her unexpectedly! We'll be back next year 🙂

My husband had the wings and he said they were absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips. It was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes were large. They also had two for one drinks so we both had two drinks for less than 10 pounds. We met AJ And she was super friendly and helpful and helping us pick our selections. Highly recommend stop into this pub if you’re in the area

If you are in London, you should definitely experience the atmosphere of a typical sports bar. We chose this place and we don't regret it. As always, you order and pay directly at the bar and the various sports are on the TV everywhere. A nice little stop that was worth it. I was asked to make a review on this place by Gemma via WhatsApp group we are in and by the looks of the comments it doesn't seem like a nice friendly place. It is not very professional to ask people to give it a 5 star review when they haven't been there before, working hard makes good honest reviews not asking for people to just give one.

Had such a fantastic time, one staff member stood out for me, she was so kind and professional and helped me with all my needs, she's a credit to your team, her name was Gemma

Service is always friendly and the staff attentive , Gemma is always lovely with our baby when we go in with him. The food is great value and consistent and the bar and tables clean. There are lots of well positioned TVs and a projector so it’s a great place to watch sport

Very rude staff and very bad service for no apparent reason. They don't have any manners in how to engage with customers. We were feeling very uncomfortable with their service as if they wanted us out.

Never had the food here but service is really good don't have to wait long to get a drink atmosphere is good and plenty of TVs to watch

What a fantastic experience. First time in and my friend and I were welcomed with a smile and great service by Gemma and JJ. Not often bar staff talk to you and keen to know about us. So been out to see the game today and first of all the manager Radeek wich served me first was fine i went to order a beer 2st beer to the bar i was fisrt on tthe line the bar girl that was serving (i guess she is the managers girlfriend) shebwas very rude and she refused to change my order, as she didn't even start to pour the beer in the glass but she make me pay it first i accepted that, 3th time inwent to the bar the same women that was serving she was even more rude towards me as soon as i wanted to order she didn't wanna serve me as se chose to serve another guest, and ofc i made a comment about it and the whole staff started get me as the one that u made the fault on this. Overall dont go there to be srrved with rudness and unprofessional staff. Managment should take a closer look on who they employ,, i wont ever fo back to be treated like that on my own money.

Vi hadde booket bord for å spise og se EM-kamp og sendt spørsmål 2 døgn i forkant om vi kunne ha med 2 15-åringer. Vi fikk aldri svar på denne forespørselen og ble nektet adgang da vi kom til stedet.

Great place, loads of variety friendly atmosphere.

Very unfair service. I paid for the beer. However, the staff came back after a while because they informed me that their computer was not working. I bought one beer and they made me pay twice. I showed them that the money had been taken from my account but no one was interested - be careful with the service - they charge you several times for one order. two payments were collected despite purchasing one beer. they cheat tourists - I advise against it!!

great pub. You can watch matches and eat delicious food, play billiards, there are slot machines. on Saturday after 9 pm there is music and many people dance. This is our favorite pub where we meet with friends, by the way the prices there are reasonable.

Worst Gammon I've ever had. Rest of the food (Burgers and Pizzas) was good. Beers were nice and reasonably priced. Nice table and pleasant staff.

Just left the pub as being ignored, even though the guy serving blatenly saw me. New to the area, and have marked your pub off my list and will never visit again with friends or family. So you just lost and customer for life.

Vicky is really good and quick with resolving any Issues. There’s also a young black lady there (I didn’t get her name) she’s so nice and great at resolving anything too! There’s one person there who isn’t too good with anything front of house. They left a new person to deal with a lot of things by themselves - I felt so sorry for him. However the one problem I have is they say the chips are vegetarian but they’re cooked in the same oil as the Chicken and the Fish…this could make someone who is strictly vegetarian very ill; so I would consider changing that…

In 2024, you can't be asking a 40-year old person for an ID. We don't carry those around, specially now that everything's digital. Either you accept a photograph or you'll lose lots of customers.

Nice lively pub in the heart of Stratford. The atmosphere is a mix of young and old. No sign of trouble as well controlled by plenty of Doormen. Well worth a visit!

Horrendous customer service…Zigmona the bartender is beside it unfortunately! Ordered 2-4-1 cocktails, she poured it out the tap, I’ve requested not in one glass. Once the drink settled which I’ve waited for nearly filled half of the glass. I then went back to the bar and asked her for a glass in which they usually serve it, I’ve poured “them both “ in a glass in front of her and asked if that’s a correct measure, she replied: “you saw me pouring it” and she walked away! That’s something I’ve never experienced ever! What a poor service, the attitude needs addressing certainly!!

If you like sport it's the place to be

I went there today and I had the worst experience again. I was abused by the manager and harassed in front of my friends. Take action against the manager and don't let this happen to someone else. Gemma the Manager yelled and used foul language and harassed me infront of my friends. Don't let maniacs like these serve customers.

Great pub whether you're mad on sports or not. My fella & I have been back several times as it's a great place to watch sport as well as have a drink & pub grub. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is warm & lively. A really good place to watch sports or just to sit & have a few drinks & some hearty food!

Doom Bar 3.50. Pride was unavailable. All sports covered simultaneously on multiple screens. Not busy at 15:00 Wednesday. Free WIFI is beyond EXCELLENT. I watch Buffalo NY CNN on my laptop. Cannot comment on food as didn't order anything.

Gemma went above and beyond for us. Every drink we ordered a large round. She was organised, helpful, happy and supplied us a great service. The Sportsman would have got a 5 star but the doorman was rude and had dreadful communicating skills. Toilets were clean, DJ was good. Overall good experience.

Our second year running here for Christmas lunch, and they did us proud again. Thanks to Tanya, Michael and Charon for great service on the day, and Gemma for helping us out beforehand. Lovely pub. Our table was nicely decorated with crackers etc. and the food was again great. Best value in the area, too. A thoroughly relaxed afternoon - we will be back.

Very nice atmosphere and place to see Premier League football games. West Ham United fans present in the location that sing and create proper frame for football games.

Schöne Sportsbar, perfekt für einen Besuch vor einem West Ham Spiel. Essen ist durchschnittlich und Bier gibt es in Plastikgläser. Dennoch ist es zu empfehlen. Es gibt viele Bildschirme für alle möglichen Sportarten.

Went here after a shopping trip to westfield. Very impressed by the price of a pint and by the friendly staff that served me. Also a very spacious pub with lots of seats. Will definitely come back

Would give 0 if I could. Never got to try this place. Booked a table for 12 people through the phone line on the web page. When I made the booking I explained that we would send advanced food choices as 1 pub had already said they couldn't accommodate us due to the football that I needed to be 100% sure this would happen. I was reassured that it would be happy to accommodate us. They sent a email for food orders on a Sunday and the Monday I returned the order. On Tuesday I received a call from them to cancel due to the football !!! I rang the booking line to complain and was informed that the pub shouldn't have cancelled as they had no information on this and they were still accepting bookings for that date and the booking line Manager was in a meeting and would get back to me, needless to say no one did despite having contact phone number and email. The booking line is the masterpub group that this pub belongs to. This is very unprofessional and very poor customer service. Not that they would care.

I watched kinga deal with 5 men on her own that were being very aggressive and argumentative. She remained professional at all times. Kinga served my husband and I after and her customer service was excellent.

Horrible Place Beer was flat Ordered rump steak and chips, didn't bring me any sauces or salt even though I asked twice. Chips looked even worse than McDonald's food. Went to witherspoon, which is a 2-minute walk away where the food and drink was 10 times better..

Worst ever pub experience. Arrived on time for a booking which required a £20 deposit but was left standing at the entrance for 15 minutes until the table was freed. Although we had pre booked a few buckets of beer, we went almost 1.5 hours without a drink, which if it wasn't for the constant chasing would never have been delivered. Upon delivering the drinks they attempted (accidentally) to overcharge for the drinks which took serious convincing before they realized they made a mistake. To finish it all off we were told at the end of the night that we still had to spend the £20 deposit. Why was this not deducted from the several meals and drinks purchased for the table?

Went to go in here for food and watch the football. 2 security on the door, have you all got ID. Bear in mind we were all over 40 years old. There was no hello, or friendly chat. When asked why they wanted ID they said because of football. Since when do you need ID???

A great bar for drinks before a West Ham game. Nice selection of drinks. Lots of space and tables available to sit and watch sport. Loads of tvs to watch the sport on. I didn’t order food but the food I saw being served, didn’t look great. But as I didn’t eat, you should make up your own mind

Lovely pub, doorstaff was nice and friendly upon entry, all staff behind the bar were lovely and made us feel welcome. Came in on a Friday night for food as it was around the corner from our hotel, food was so good we had to come back for a breakfast in the morning. 👍🏼

The food is ok. The beer is absolutely awful though. Not sure if it's only on match days, but beer is served in plastic pints, and every beer tastes the same. Heavily watered down or nasty pipes, either way; your beer is disgusting.

Was in The Sportsman in Stratford London E15 this afternoon with my father the service was good I like to thank the lovely lady in the Bar her name was Kinga brilliant and friendly service from her.

Was here for ‘Local legends with Carlton Cole and James Collin’. Absolutely fantastic night as usual in the sportsman. Greatest, friendliest staff and pub in Stratford and in my opinion London. Love you guys Rachel xx

Weird bar in Stratford. I'm a pensioner and I was ID'd! Hardly anyone in there early on a Friday evening. 4 pumps showing real ales but only one was on

We come here for breakfast almost every Sunday. We really love the breakfast here. Me and my friends were ordering at the till and a lady just randomly came and asked for our ID’s which made absolutely no sense ‘cuz we weren’t drinking and were never asked for it before. When I asked why, she claimed she needed to make sure if we are over 25+ to be in the premises. She was extremely rude. I do not understand why on a Sunday morning me and my friends have to deal with this. Really disappointed.
