Friday night early and food out of stock?

my first visit in many years (was Elm tree my last visit) seems like a much better atmosphere and refurbished to look a lot better, I would like to return soon and try the food.

Nice place, but turned up before 3:00 to get food to be told at around 3:40 that we could order food even though we were within the time frame.

Riddle me this, is it theeth things, or tie things, and what does the answer mean for this establishment?

Decent enough, good outside seating area. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Had the shares 5 for ,£20 lovely but when sharing want 4 of every thing not 3 chicken wings etc

The sort of pub that makes you want to give up drink .

We returned to the Tythings after a long break only to find it just as nice as before. The food was excellent, the service first class, great atmosphere too. We met up with several friends with kids and everyone enjoyed their food too, including little fussy eaters. There's plenty of room for kids to run around without bumping into people. I even made a new friend in the queue to the bar! A great pub.

Lovely friendly pub. Didn't eat there.but if the food is as nice as the staff that would be another 5 stars.

Lovely pub. They weren't serving food that day but the other guests we spoke to said how nice the meals were. Dogs not allowed inside :( but there is a covered area outside which was nice as the weather was fine. Decent sized car park and enclosed seating area for families at the rear.

Nice local pub, regular entertainment, pool tables and sports.

Food came out within 10 minuites!, and was worth it, servers were friendly and management were also amazing, highly recommended the Singapore noodles!, would dine again any day!

Great place and great food. All staff are helpful and happy. Deffo recommend 👌

Best place to hang out. Loved the reggae and dancehall theme ,and music and service is really really good.

This place just need a tiny bit of extra communication between guests and staff for food etc.. and it would be a solid 4+... looks like a good place to sink some pints though. It was £4.20 for large coke though.. better off getting a pint. Lol

It was okay soccer was a bit too load to chat with mates.

Went for a meal 14 of us Almost 80% of the menu was not available Put in a complaint and were told we could have a £20 voucher towards our next meal . Visited the pub on several occasions and the kitchen was closed. Gradually going back to the dump it was before it reopened Will not be going back anytime soon ......

I’d like to give zero but that’s not an option. Should have posted this a long time ago but forgot. Sister ordered an 8oz steak but was told at the till they only had 16oz steaks left so we said okay. When the food arrived at the table she was served two 8oz steaks? Waited to finish our food (which was okay) so not to spoil the night and then went to the till to ask why essentially we were lied to, we were basically told they had to sell it as 16oz because they needed to “get rid of stock” When I asked them how they thought that was okay, the manager walked over and said to the staff member just serve them, he didn’t know what was happening I said we’ve already been served I’m asking a question, he wouldn’t stand at the till, he wouldn’t listen and he definitely wouldn’t answer the questions but he did push a receipt that we didn’t ask for towards me, I pushed the receipt back across the bar and a lady, I assume the managers wife started shouting at me how I was rude and I had thrown the receipt at him. We were almost pushed out of the pub whilst being called names by the manager who said we weren’t welcome back (like we’d be returning) We weren’t asking for any money back or anything like that just simply asking was it necessary to lie. The lady on the till seemed new or nervous and didn’t know how to handle the situation and the managers/landlord/landlady were so so rude.

Lovely staff. Family of 6 booked festive meal, nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was excellent. We shall be back. Keep up the great service ☺️

Turned up at 6:45pm, ordered meals, told 3/4 of an hour later (after being told food isn't long) that the kitchen is closed!

Waste of time! Came here to treat my girls after school, after deciding what they wanted, tried to order to then be told that the kitchen was closed. No signs to say the kitchen was closed at the pub or on there Facebook page. 2 upset children by the end of it!!

Turned up for lunch at 12pm. Weren't serving food. Even though advertised that they were. 😡

Really nice family pub, on site parking, they do hot drinks as well (eg. Tea, coffee etc.) Lovely decor, love their bucket seats and booths in particular, really cosy yet modern, clean feel. They do a lovely beetroot burger which I have enjoyed on numerous occasions. Staff always friendly and helpful.

Lovely pub very friendly Food not so good few things not avaliable on the menu so I decided to have the pizza not a good choice it was over cook rock hard to be precise I couldn't bite into it tried using a knife to cut it but couldn't. I told two members of staff how bad it was and all I got was sorry. One member of staff even said she told them how bad the pizza's are. I would go there again for a drink but wouldn't eat there again

Doombar was of a reasonable standard. Nice to see Inches cider available. Food looked ok and was very popular with families . The sports booths are a great addition.

Nice pub! Quite but probably the time of the day. It has been done up very nicely and has a very comfortable atmosphere. Very nice staff

First time I have been in this pub for a very long time since it has been renovated and the result is First class will be going back on a regular basis.

Very friendly service, Sunday roast was also absolutely amazing. We turned up randomly while on the way to the airport, almost last minute as it was 4pm. We will probably make a conscious effort to return again. Thank you

I was last in hear about 8 years ago when it was the elmtree(chaos) today I found both landlord and landlady very pleasant and forth coming it was a joy to chat to them ,bump into a few old friends and made a few new ones. nice relaxing atmosphere you can drink in or out (weather ) depending ill definitely be back.ive been back on a few accasions the inches ciders is cracking ,and made by Heineken so probably the best around ?

Table of 14, amazing service. Nothing was to much trouble.meals came out on time,lovely food,whole party was happy,even did the birthday cake before desserts. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon. Thank you to all staff made our daughter's birthday evening!

We , as a family , are regular visitors and absolutely love coming here ! We’ve never had a bad meal and the atmosphere is always positive. The girls at the bar are just so lovely and very friendly !

Nice, good sized pub. Lots of parking. Nice decor that retains character, good seating, staff and landlord all seem friendly. Beer was good. Didn't have chance to try the food. Much more relaxed/calm than the previous incarnation known as The Elm Tree. If you've been holding off going based on what it used to be when it was the Elm Tree, it's worth a look. Really nice to have it as a local!

They've completely refurbished and modernised the place, it looks great and the food is very nice. Only problem was it took them an hour to serve us our drinks, I think best to order at the bar rather then on the app here.

Food good, service good but in the day we went, a saturday, the music wad FAR to loud. Could here our conversation and we sat at the other end of the pub.

I like this pub BUT OMG the service is 🤬 slow we waited a while . 2 sets of customers came after us and got served first 😡. Do they not know how to work in hospitality???? Shame really cuz the inches pint is lovely in here. Big time training needs to be done I definitely could do the job wayyyyyy better!!!

Go pass The Thythings everytime I see my Dad and Stepmum. Heard some good and bad things about it on Google saying that the landlord and landlady were rude etc. Me and my Dad had a meal here and found that there is a fantastic atmosphere. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The only negative is that pub doesn't serve THATCHERS! I had to make do with a Bulmers which tasted too sweet for me, my Dad bought me a cloudy apple cider which was great. The landlord and landlady should be proud of their establishment. Ben

The Tythings is a very nice place and the management and staff are very friendly and keen to help. The food is very good, also you get a lot of elderly people in lunch times. In the past place had a bad name but now all trouble makers are not allowed back in, and all the local people are coming back in again. It's a nice friendly place now. Kind regards Ray 😀👍

Food was cheap and cheerful. Service a bit slow due to low staff and table service requirements due to Covid. Lovely environment nicely done.

Excellent cheap standard fare. Good quality food great service and good covid standard. Safe place to be and as its local will be frequenting on a regular basis. Great beer as well.

Had lunch here today, we had the mixed grill and hunters chicken followed by dessert. Couldn't fault it, really nice food, service great and a nice welcoming atmosphere. We will be back next week and can see this becoming a regular thing. Has come a long way and is now a really nice place to meet friends and family.

Gave a 3 cus had to wait so long for someone to seat us,,,staff are nice and polite but the waiting to be seated to long 10 mins bloody pants

booked a table for 6 when we got there had to sit on different tables yet ten mins later 4 people turned up and was shown to a 6 table!weird! food not great at all!

The pub itself following the refurbishment is very well set out However the biggest problem is the management - Zero customer service skills and show a complete lack of professionalism As for the kitchen/food - Appears they are unable to attract the right candidate or in fact any suitable candidate to run their menu Every business expects some early teething problems but the problems here will not be resolved until the Owners employ the right management team

The food was not that nice and people that's around me have been complaining about there food being cold and being late people getting refunds because food taking to long

Nice pub has been done out well but the meals are small portions for the price no communication staff brought out cutlery to a table of five with just one knife and fork in it no offers on the table so you think that all that is on offer is on the menu suggest you look at your food prices as this will put customers off this is from somebody who has been in pub management for a number of years

Ordered 4 meals we waited 40 mins, we chased it up and they had forgot us so waited a while longer 3 meals came out and about 10 mins later the last one,frozen prawns in a sandwiches Ordered a platter sharer chicken was cold . We were a large table of people but all ordered separately Long story short a few didn't get there meals while others waited a while.. Landlady rude and not muc patients Won't be going back first and last time for me.

What a disappointment . Not good customer service skills when dealing with issues caused by food not served within a reasonable time. Wont be going again .

I shared a birthday lunch with friends today in this very nicely refurbished pub. It was moderately busy, but we had approximately an hours wait for our food order: 2 burgers & chips, 1portion of chips + 1 portion of onion rings, I jacket potato with cheese&beans and mine with prawns. The potatoes were just warm. My biggest surprise was it was literally a medium potato and a small ramekin with prawns. No salad garnish at all! It was very bland and disappointing. A few 😀 would have been welcomed too.

Eight of us come out for an evening meal and had a really nice time. Food was hot and came out together. Lovely service friendly staff and friendly calm atmosphere. I would definitely recommend coming in and having a bite to eat with the family.

Not open when we visited for lunch at 12.30,,a lot of customers turned up also for food...so all went to the wessex flyer instead,,,not a good advert for a new pub
