The Twisted Thistle in Glasgow City

Had a lovely meal at the twisted thistle. The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was lovely too. The food was perfect. There is a parking area and a beer garden. There is also a function suite available for hire.

This place was great. Food was amazing and staff were great. I had the Mushroom Bruscheta and Cajun Chicken pasta. Portions were so big I couldn't finish the pasta. Pasta also came with garlic bread. Would definitely recommend it. Parking was a bit tight due to the time we went, but there are areas around it you can get parked. Some local shops across the road from it too which makes it very handy.

This is a very nice place to eat in. I have been a few times with different members of family. The honey sweet chilli chicken was really nice as was the bruschetta and pasta dish. The burger was lacking a little flavour, unsure if the patties are handmade or bought in on bulk. I would recommend a visit.

Big thanks to the very professional and friendly staff for a fantastic service for my wife's 60th birthday at short notice, excellent food great atmosphere. Communication arranging everything was 1st class especially as my wife didn't know there was a large family group attending

The Ritz it is not, but it is a little gem with a reasonable menu selection. Above all our server - sorry can’t remember her name, but she made our visit a 5 star experience, humorous, and ultra efficient. We had no problem leaving a service charge and would certainly return.

2 burgers & French fries 1 larger and 1 soda water food,service and location very good just a little expensive

I was on holiday visiting from Canada, I visited the twisted thistle with my mum and I must say the service was impeccable and the servers were very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere and decor are lovely, I especially loved the fireplace which gave the restaurant a cozy feel and also the different colored chairs are lovely. The food was amazing and the meal was served hot which is very important usually it is not as hot as I would like it, also the passion fruit margarita I would highly recommend the cocktail is delicious. I would encourage you to make your next function or dinner at the Twisted Thistle , you will not be disappointed. I would also like to mention Lorna and lindsay Cullen were wonderful servers at the restaurant and made our visit especially rememberable. Thank you again !

Food was amazing . The burger with haggis and bacon and sauce was out of this world

Warning if you want a quiet family night don't go on a Saturday around 7pm as the loud music ruined the night for me and my elderly father pretty sure it was loud for a few us party of about 18 ,was the food good and worth the money ....yes it sure was ,staff were great place was very clean and set up ok apart from our table I'm fairly sure that my review would have been 5 stars on a night the live music wasn't playing but I'm sure he could have turned it down a notch till we at least finished eating I will go back just not on a fairly wild night, plenty of parking and easy access to toilets I would highly recommend the twisted thistle just pick your night for what experience you want

Very nice meal which all four of us enjoyed. Two of us had the chicken fajitas which were tasty and plentiful. One enjoyed fish and chips.

Found this place by accident after leaving Golden jubilee hospital.Absoloutly brilliant,I work in hospitality,and this place is what I would expect as regarding quality of food and experience of staff,Kerry was lovely and attentive.Will definitely be back although not to the hospital I hope.Lol

Walk in didn't book we were told 15-20mins before we could order food, waited 10mins to be asked about drinks, anyways watched people coming in after us having there food order taken whilst we were still waiting to order eventuality shouted the waitress over to mention this n ask why we hadn,t been asked yet as by this time it had been 30mins we were waiting, lady apologised and took our order,friend got the enchiladas it was lovely me and my other friend got toasted wraps with sweet chilli chicken wasn,t very good,all in all i dont think we will be visiting again due to the poor service!!

Needed somewhere to eat when travelling alone. Saturday evening. First impressions: LOUD. The place was very busy and very loud. Don't expect a cosy tete-à-tete. Soup was tasty an generous portion. No probs there. Main : steak sandwich. Bland, Frozen fries, strange tasteless gravy and about a teaspoonful of coleslaw that I didn't think was even worth trying to retrieve from the bottom of the tiny steel bowl. Drinks: keg beer and the normal chain pub type stuff. Don't expect anything special. The staff were friendly enough, but as a welcoming gastronomic experience, I'd rate it as "Aspires to mediocrity." If I'm in the area again, I'll look elsewhere.

On the evening we attended there was live music on which the singer was pretty good but it was far to loud. You couldn't hear conversation at table or hear what the person sitting next to you was saying. Been in the Twisted Thistle before where live music was on and it is a great addition but this needs to be addressed so it's background music that you can listen too while you enjoy the company your with. Not sure if it's the building but the loudness does spoil the ambience. Food served wasn't the best. Ceasar Salad was served in a warm bowl. Ordered a side of onion rings and what was served was poor. These where the frozen ones flung in a fryer. Tbh was hoping for better like freshly prepared made ones. Chicken Thia Curry was ordered and what arrived was a vegetable one with a few vegs in it. Not the best.

Went for the Sunday Roast dinner the night before we started our canal walk from Bowling and we are so glad we did! Really tasty food,relaxed comfy surroundings,and fabulous friendly staff.

Simple & delicious! From the moment we step inside the staff were lovely. The Chicken Parmagiana was massive, the chicken was crispy and juicy. The Mac Firecracker was really good and was portioned perfectly. We will definitely be back to this little gem!

Been here a few times and never been disappointed. The food has always been piping hot and very tasty. My last visit was March 2024 and my first time having lunch. I went for the soup and toasted sandwich and it was smashing, the soup was nice and hot and very nice and my cheese and onion toasted sandwich was excellent as well. Can’t praise it high enough.

A welcome treat after a busy morning of taking my friend 'up the Humpfrey' for the first time. Charming staff, excellent service, delicious food.

Were here a couple of weeks ago, staying at nearby Travel Lodge. Highly recommend food, atmosphere , service. Staff very friendly and helpful. Immaculate disabled toilets. I'm in a wheelchair xx

Really good macaroni and Katsu. Great wine. Nice service. Nice inside, warm and welcoming. No entertainment on (Friday night) unfortunately but will be back again soon as I know they arrange good bands/ acts every now and then. Recommended.

Turned up tonight for first time and deffo spoilt rotten... No need to go to the bar, food was top quality pub food, could not fault anything👍

Reasonable prices but the portion of Chips was so small I had to ask for a extra portion. And the peas were practically non existent. I originally wanted a curry but they only served boiled rice which I don't like. Not the worst but certainly not the best either.

Xmas day dinner an absolute joke, main course you'd have got more in a frozen dinner, the roast potato was rancid and nearly broke my tooth, my tooth genuinely hurts now, the other piece I spat out. The desert was a joke, I actually just looked at it in disbelief, it was an absolute rip off, so 65 quid for soup and some toothache, cos starter was passible , think carefully before you book for xmas or new year dinner over the period

Went to 1pm sitting xmas dinner, which cost £65, absolute rip off for the portion, a tv dinner would have been as good, desert was a couple traspoonfuls of custard and same amount apple crumble. Main course what there was, the roast potato that was cut in half was in edible, dried up disgusting, spat bit back out and the other nearly broke a tooth, we all felt same

I asked for something that wasn't on menu,the chef made it beautifully, the staff were brilliant and very happy the whole time,great place to eat. Update was in for Xmas lunch it was beautiful & the staff were brilliant highly recommended 👌

Nice cosy pub good food clean loos

Dropped by for lunch on a Tuesday, so it wasn’t busy. Server was lovely and the food was excellent. Our 15 year old son said “best burger I’ve ever eaten” about the Highlander burger. Agree with previous comment about more peppercorn sauce needed.

Went for an elvis tribute/dinner night. Superb food and service. Friendly atmosphere. Friendly hard working g staff that done everything right to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. They work great as a team. Decent prices at the bar as well as the food. I would recommend a night out here no matter your age. Looking forward to a second visit just to see if it will be just as good and organised.

Nice place first time visiting will certainly go back. Staff friendly. Clean surroundings. Nice menu. Highland burger really nice. A bit more peppercorn sauce would have been nice. My friend had the steak sandwich which she said was delicious.

A great little bar come function room with exceptional food. Staff are always with a smile. Can highly recommend giving them a try, Our group come regularly and call in out of courtesy due to being a group of around 12

We have eaten here before but today the food was absolutely terrible the roast beef was like leather couldn’t eat it my wife steak pie was terrible we won’t eat here again sack the chef.

Was a lovely lunch with 4 workmates and myself. Only issue was not enough seating space to have a drink/drinks there after, we where asked to vacate the table as it was booked for dinner. Ended up over in The Ettrick pub, which was fab 👌

Great chef as food was really good and atmosphere. Chill chicken starter and fajitas were fab plus sticky toffee pudding. Busy with people dining which is a good sign.

We had lunch here today… and wow! What a meal! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was quite frankly amazing! Such good value and came really really quickly once ordered. The only reason I dropped a star was because it took a wee while for the staff to get round to us to order. Other than that small detail… I have no complaints! I would highly recommend this place! Go and enjoy!

This was the second time I've been. First time their staff was nice although we waited nearly 25mins for our drinks but at least the glass was full and they were out of gluten free pasta.... This time there was 3fingers worth of space from the rim of the glass to where the drink actually started and their gluten free fish wasnt battered.. it had what I could only discribe as crushed tortilla chips on it which dried the fish out too much...way too much over cooked wedges/chips and a pitiful amount of mushy peas that wouldn't of satisfied a baby it is nice inside but could easily see where the food was being made and no one looked to be wearing hats or nets or even proper whites

Went for dinner with my wife for our anniversary and was told kitchen was closed at 7.55pm. There were plenty of staff on as well as a Chef stood behind the bar chatting. Plenty of people still eating mains which, so not sure what they would have Been told if they had asked to order dessert???

This is not a bad pub inside. The staff are nice. But oh boy . The food was very poor and overpriced. The wine was rank.

Very busy on a Sunday but staff were still very friendly and attentive. The sea Bass was unbelievable, not what I would normally order but decided to order out of my comfort zone, I was not disappointed. Wow. I was able to order a side portion of rice also to soak up the delicious Thai green sauce. My friends were ordering cocktails which looked fantastic, I was on the cola but I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu and cocktails. My friends meals also looked delicious and they confirmed it, chicken fajitas, steak and onion flatbread (with the most chips I've seen on a plate) and the highland burger. After our meal we sat outside on the decking, very pleasant afternoon out.

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff and accommodating to persons with extra needs. The food was brilliant, amazing portion size at reasonable prices, full of flavour. The venue out back looked decent too, highly recommend!

We discovered this place on a recommendation from an acquaintance. I'm so glad we tried it out! The food is amazing, we had a nice booth table on our last visit, which was really nice. Child friendly, and the Enchilada I had was to die for. Only shame is that we're not quite close enough to walk home, so one of us has to drive...

Had prawns and roast dinner within a hour i was vomiting and gastroenteritis. I have contacted nhs 24 who have said with vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhoea I have eat something that could be not cooked properly.

First time in for food .very spacious and clean ...food was lovely...ordered 5 hot drinks took ages to come and time hot chocolate was served at table wasn't hot at all ...think only one member of staff could work machine ....that was only downfall

I love it here. I've been many times but keep forgetting to review! The food is amazing with good options, the drinks are lovely and the place is clean. On one of my previous visits I was breastfeeding my baby and one of the servers asked if I wanted my meal kept warm whilst baby was feeding. This was so thoughtful and it allowed me to have a warm meal - which doesn't happen often when breastfeeding! The staff are friendly and I've never had any issues here.
