Been in Derby for 5 days. Found it on our last night. Best food I've had all week. Proper plate of food. Jerk Chicken, steamed veg, rice and fried plantain for £15. Total deal and arrived very quickly! Totally recommend.

Can’t rate The Tropixx high enough. Simply the best Jamaican restaurant in Derby and some of the best Jamaican food I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the mutton soup or red pea soup as well as the oxtail or curry mutton meals. My girlfriend loves the pepper prawns and brownstew bream from here. It’s a family owned business that are proud of their roots and it shows since the food is so comforting. There’s always upbeat music playing when you walk in and the atmosphere is great. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for this kind of food (unless I find myself in Jamaica). 10/10🙌🏽

Been coming here for a while for curry goat, jerk chicken and pepper steak. Every single time the food is incredible and the portion sizes are very generous. Pricing is also great for what you get. Some of the most tender flavourful meat I've ever had, always cooked and marinated to perfection. Same goes for the rice and peas. The pepper steak is unbelievably tasty, highly recommend giving it a go. Place is spacious and clean. Has a fridge with a pretty wide variety of drinks too. Always my go to for Caribbean food.

Just discovered this place serving authentic Carribbean food. Nice clean cafe, very tasty, decent portions and a varied menu. Definitely felt like food made with love. I had the jerk chicken starter and mutton curry after. I'm a big man and only just finished it. Generous meat portions and a fresh home cooked taste. Highly recommended as a treat.

Myself and my partner have been craving Jamaican food for a while, sadly we don't leave any decent establishments. After scrolling the reviews of half a dozen restaurants we decided to take the plunge on the 45 min drive to Tropixx. I must say it was absolutely worth it, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food 10/10. The staff said the Mac and Cheese would be the best I would ever try, and they were not wrong that was 10/10. We would recommend this place to anyone wanting authentic, delicious and affordable Jamaican. I will definitely be back again in the near future.

Excellent food, authentic Jamaican. Jerk chicken and fried dumplings were amazing, as was the macaroni cheese. Person serving (and probably cooking) was very friendly. Will go there again and/or get takeaway.

Hi I past this restaurant everyday from work been in and had food to takeaway quite a few times,also at the weekend the food is very good and staff very pleasant and customer friendly.My only gripe is no prices on the menu in the restaurant so you don’t know how much things are you need to ask,also I purchased some food which was great but I also purchased a portion of plantain which I was very disappointed in as I only got four pieces,where as when I had been before I got more and I payed quite a bit which for the money I could of gone and brought one and cooked it myself.All I say is make prices viewable and how much you get for a portion of anything please,I will be going back and stating these facts to the restaurant but overall great food and service 🤙🏿💯

was expecting as ordered Brownstew BREAM - but instead it was Brownstew CHICKEN. Disappointing. The rest of the order was fine

Orders at 1:45 and don’t receive food until 3:25. I know it said it’d take between 60-75 minutes, but when the food did arrive after it already said it had been delivered, the food was cold and I had to re-heat it. The restaurant refused to send any money back for the delay or the cold food. Other than that, after re-heating, the food was okay but I wouldn’t recommend ordering from here.

It may not have been the restaurants fault my order never arrived, the manager promised to fix it and deliver it himself and it still didn’t arrive. Extremely disappointing will never go again. Appallingly service.

Had a lunch with my mum on a day trip to derby. The food was very nice and authentic ~ Jerk Chicken, rice and pies, prawns cakes and juices. The level of the service was excellent with a pleasant, unquestionable. The prices are also very ok. Ordered takeaway and will definitely stop anytime I am in derby. I definitely recommend.

Me and my wife tried tropix as our usual was closed and I must say the lady who served us was so polite and helpful, the food, service and atmosphere was top class, the gentleman who worked there even opened the door for us on the way out, top service and we will most definitely be back soon

The fried chicken was a drumstick and a weird piece that wasn't a thigh, wing or breast. The fried dumplings was rock hard and inedible. We had a fantastic first order, the wrong main on a second order and this is a third order that is far below the quality of the first.

Amazing food! I randomly discovered this place and decided to try their food. I had the Fried Chicken with a side of Kidney Beans Rice and some Stew Sauce. It was my first time trying Caribbean food. The chicken and stew sauce combo was very tasty and the rice was just optimally cooked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am curious to try the other dishes too. When I'm in Derby I'll always eat there.

One of the best Caribbean meals I’ve had . Rice was perfect and curry mutton was very tasty. Festivals could have been a bit sweeter and crispier but that’s just my preference . 10/10 meal

So many take outs taste ok or good, but ultimately, you don't really feel like you've had a proper meal. Their Brown Chicken Stew not only tasted amazing, but left me feeling well & truly satisfied - like a proper home cooked meal (if they can cook well at home, that is!) Looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu. That cliche about food cooked with love? You can taste it in every bite!

The food was gorge as always. Just let down on one of the meals we ordered, we selected both rice n peas. We received one meal with this and the other was boiled rice. Besides this lovely meal!!

Terrible service. They don't pick up the phone ever. My steam veg was missing . The oxtail is so watery and sweet as if they put sugar in there. They did not read the instructions. And food took too long to come. Never again

Was not to happy with my food or order I ask for hard food with veg, got two dumpling one piece of yam and one green banana cut in half with stir Vegetables with no taste got and no sweet potato,charged also £14 and was told a different prize on the phone,disappointed won't be ordering again as it was the first time I ordered it and last time .

Popped in for an early lunch. Really friendly, tropical colours and music, tasty food. Really enjoyed the experience.

Waited 2 hours for food to be delivered, food was cold on arrival, was told they were busy yet they only had one driver.ended up ordering from somewhere else which made this costly for me. Unsure if I will be ordering from there again anytime soon.
