The Tropixx Caribbean Restaurant & Takeaway in Derby

was expecting as ordered Brownstew BREAM - but instead it was Brownstew CHICKEN. Disappointing. The rest of the order was fine

Orders at 1:45 and don’t receive food until 3:25. I know it said it’d take between 60-75 minutes, but when the food did arrive after it already said it had been delivered, the food was cold and I had to re-heat it. The restaurant refused to send any money back for the delay or the cold food. Other than that, after re-heating, the food was okay but I wouldn’t recommend ordering from here.

Ordered at 16.59, food arrived at 18.30

No food delivered! Called numerous times and no one seemed to know where the food was… waste of time and money. Disappointed.

It may not have been the restaurants fault my order never arrived, the manager promised to fix it and deliver it himself and it still didn’t arrive. Extremely disappointing will never go again. Appallingly service.

The food was good tbh 🥰💯remind me of the food back in Jamaica 🇯🇲.The curry goat gravy was amazing on the fried chicken with the rice and peas.

Had a lunch with my mum on a day trip to derby. The food was very nice and authentic ~ Jerk Chicken, rice and pies, prawns cakes and juices. The level of the service was excellent with a pleasant, unquestionable. The prices are also very ok. Ordered takeaway and will definitely stop anytime I am in derby. I definitely recommend.

Me and my wife tried tropix as our usual was closed and I must say the lady who served us was so polite and helpful, the food, service and atmosphere was top class, the gentleman who worked there even opened the door for us on the way out, top service and we will most definitely be back soon

The fried chicken was a drumstick and a weird piece that wasn't a thigh, wing or breast. The fried dumplings was rock hard and inedible. We had a fantastic first order, the wrong main on a second order and this is a third order that is far below the quality of the first.

Amazing food! I randomly discovered this place and decided to try their food. I had the Fried Chicken with a side of Kidney Beans Rice and some Stew Sauce. It was my first time trying Caribbean food. The chicken and stew sauce combo was very tasty and the rice was just optimally cooked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am curious to try the other dishes too. When I'm in Derby I'll always eat there.

One of the best Caribbean meals I’ve had . Rice was perfect and curry mutton was very tasty. Festivals could have been a bit sweeter and crispier but that’s just my preference . 10/10 meal

Food was cold, meat was fatty and full of gristle, first time ordering from here and will NOT be ordering from here again.

Had an order tonight of 2 jerk chicken meals, absolutely outstanding food. Some of the best Jamaican food I’ve tried. Piping hot and generous portions. Great value will defo be ordering again :)

So many take outs taste ok or good, but ultimately, you don't really feel like you've had a proper meal. Their Brown Chicken Stew not only tasted amazing, but left me feeling well & truly satisfied - like a proper home cooked meal (if they can cook well at home, that is!) Looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu. That cliche about food cooked with love? You can taste it in every bite!

Ordered a chicken curry rice &peas and mutton rice &peas with dumplings and it was amazing! Chicken was off the bone and dumplings were great

The food was gorge as always. Just let down on one of the meals we ordered, we selected both rice n peas. We received one meal with this and the other was boiled rice. Besides this lovely meal!!

Terrible service. They don't pick up the phone ever. My steam veg was missing . The oxtail is so watery and sweet as if they put sugar in there. They did not read the instructions. And food took too long to come. Never again

Was not to happy with my food or order I ask for hard food with veg, got two dumpling one piece of yam and one green banana cut in half with stir Vegetables with no taste got and no sweet potato,charged also £14 and was told a different prize on the phone,disappointed won't be ordering again as it was the first time I ordered it and last time .

Popped in for an early lunch. Really friendly, tropical colours and music, tasty food. Really enjoyed the experience.

Waited 2 hours for food to be delivered, food was cold on arrival, was told they were busy yet they only had one driver.ended up ordering from somewhere else which made this costly for me. Unsure if I will be ordering from there again anytime soon.

There aren't many places in Derby that serve this kind of food to this standard, and this one is definitely the best. Thank you!

It’s a lovely place but been put off by lack of food that’s available at lunch time. Been several times and the things that I love as a Jamaican is NOT available. They need to look after lunch time visitors a lot better otherwise just open later

My recent visit to The Tropixx Caribbean Restaurant & Takeaway, located just a short 5-minute walk from the train station, left me with a positive experience. The interior exuded a clean and welcoming ambiance, reminding me of the charm of traditional Caribbean restaurants. However, an inconvenience was the absence of prices on the displayed menu. Despite the initial hiccup with my order of sweet chili wings and sweet potato fries (which were unavailable), I chose the oxtail dish, which came with rice and peas and steamed cabbage and carrot. While the portion size could have been slightly more generous, the oxtail itself was tender and flavorful. The rice and peas was also satisfactory. One small disappointment was the unavailability of plantains, but the substitution with coleslaw turned out to be a decent choice. The coleslaw was good, although not the standout dish of the meal. On a positive note, I appreciated the well-stocked freezer with a variety of Caribbean drinks, adding to the authenticity of the experience. The staff, both the lady and gentleman, were pleasant and accommodating. Although there was initially an extra charge for dining in, they later waived it, which was a considerate gesture. Overall, The Tropixx Caribbean Restaurant & Takeaway is an excellent choice for those seeking authentic Caribbean flavors which I consider worth revisiting.

£11 for a large mutton which was watery, full of bones and carrots and hardly any meat in there. Was basically soup. Narrrstty yuh see! £5 for a little bottle of guiness the young woman charged me.. Teef And rude staff.

Apart from the portion size..I ordered large oxtail meal..I have to say..it was delicious!..I can't eat overly spicy food but I'm happy to say that meal...that meal??? On point! So tasty..! Well done to the chef..don't change her..or him!

Portion size was shocking..wasn't even a kids size of mutton curry and rice. It was dry with no sauce i had more bone than mutton!! Worse one I've ever had. The chicken soup tastes good but one bit of chicken again worse I've had. Soup was hot but curry was cold. I won't be ordering again. Overpriced. Shocking portions and worse caribbean food I've had won't be returning.

Yes yes YES!!One word- AUTHENTIC. If like me you had absolutely given up on finding a real carribbean takeaway in derby, The struggle is over…THIS IS IT!!! Ordered for the first time and the food was Per-fect!!!! Even the rice and peas was seasoned how it should be!!! Really impressed and no other takeaway in derby claiming “carribbean” touches this place. Only critical criticisms are: Prices are a bit on the steep side for a takeaway, which had deterred me for months in trying it, but when you taste the food you do get over that especially as prices everywhere are up right now. Just wish the containers for “large” were larger and you had more for the money. Props to the chef(s) who KNOW what they’re doing 🤌🏾😍Very impressed 🫶🏾

Will never ever order from this place again..food arrived over 2hours late, no communication whatsoever..had to ring the place 3times and was told there was a driver down..why do people accept ordered when they know the food won’t be delivered..i fuming..to make it worse, food was cold, I am disgusted..STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, rubbish🙄

Had the curry mutton, rice and peas with veg. It was a huge portion for a medium and it was absolutely beautiful, especially for the price, I would gladly pay more. Staff were lovely and the place had a very welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone.
