All of the people were very lovely 🥰, especially the owner, engaging with us and sharing their views on certain locations where we had already seen to buy a potential house. A big thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a warm welcome ❤️ We will definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone 🙌🙌

Great wee pub for the views in summer/autumn and also the food is top notch. We've had the baked camembert and the Hungarian goulash and ramblers stew on 2 separate visits. The staff are knowledgeable about the food and very friendly too. A little gem of a place and we highly recommend it! Oh and it has a massive cheese board to choose from - we affectionately call the place the 'cheese pub' too!

We love it here, it's the perfect place to end a country walk. The staff are wonderful and the food is amazing and very reasonably priced, especially the speciality stews which are huge portions. It's a great place for a drink or two and in the winter the fires are roaring and the summer is spent outside overlooking the valley.

Big improvement from years ago.

Traditional style pub which seems really popular for weekend lunches. It's not the only option, but they specialise in cheeses and cheese dishes. The fondue is lovely, and the bread with a baked camembert inside is great. The pub is small and cosy with a real fire, but doesn't take bookings so if there are a few of you for lunch, be there at opening to ensure you get a table.

What a great little gem of a place right on our doorstep. My son and I decided to have lunch there last week for his 21st birthday & we weren't disappointed . Definitely will be going back.

Went with sister and husband. We had the homity pie with coleslaw and salad it was delicious. Brother in law had steak pie with mash and veg he said it was delicious. Go here quite a lot for a drink but first time I've eaten. Would thoroughly recommend. Very reasonably priced.

Went for first time last night Was very busy but managed to find a table Food arrived reasonably quickly and although presentation is very plain the food was really good However the meal was ruined by s family with about 8 kids piling in and sitting right by us .. I've no objection to kids but ones that shout and scream with no control by the parents who appear to be deaf to it really did ruin it for us ... having a kids or family area would be a way better option or specific times they can visit or here's an idea better parenting .. ie if you can't behave we are leaving would work ! Instead of taking over most of the pub and ruining people's night out!

Absolutely superb. Well kept excellent beer selection with equally good lager and cider. The cheese is unequaled in variety and presentation with a super selection of other dishes. The welcome and atmosphere couldn't be better. Ah! If only this was my local.

Absolutely wonderful decor, service was sublime and top tier availability along with flavour. No bookings are available; if there were, they would have a waiting list. Fantastic afternoon and even provided doggy bags for leftovers, for those that wanted to continue the taste sensation at home

Amazing country pub with incredible selection of cheeses and ciders. I had the vegan Mediterranean flan and my partner had a cheese platter and pork pie. The food was amazing, everything from the presentation to the taste was fantastic.

Lovely food cheese board platter good friendly atmosphere

We visited midweek whilst on a drive elsewhere and fancied a drink in the countryside to watch the sun set. It was warm enough to sit on the tables stretched along the road outside which overlook the Drone Valley and the moors of the Peak District. The beer I had was Timothy Taylors Landlord Dark which was a new one to me. We saw the cheeseboard on offer and were tempted - but another time. Great pub and will return.

Food here was lovely, I couldn’t fault the service and the beer was well kept. They have a nice children’s play area and everywhere was clean and tidy.

Average. Most food just seems like what I could have bought from the supermarket, pie was decent enough. Don't expect anything extra though. Came in with 2 disabled kids, with dietary needs. Asked for a slight change (don't toast the bread) only to then be told no, it's a set menu, we don't change anything. Inside is dark, even during the day. Wouldn't choose to come here again.

One of our favourite places. Four of us went for lunch for a 70th birthday cheese fest 😋 The staff were very welcoming & friendly. Service was first class & food was delivered quickly & with a smile. Had a fabulous meal.

A brilliant lunchtime experience

Following a recommendation my wife and I visited today. Excellent service and the food was magnificent. I had a ploughmans with pork pie and cheeses, enought for 2 people!

Fellow customers who are regulars & their Labrador, welcoming too. We shall return with my partner & have a meal next time, thankyou. 100% recommend

Three of us all had the chicken mull, delicious & piping hot. Apple crumble after, same again, knocked down with a Guinness. Next time will be trying the amazing ranges of cheese & pies etc. Great service from the girls, great wee country pub, we all enjoyed it..

When you walk in it's like a western saloon ... everyone stares at you like you not a local

Excellent place for a either a light lunch or a good hearty meal,and at a very reasonable price. Serving food from 12 pm till 8 pm most days. Also a good selection of ales,ciders and beers. After eating here a time or two this place is now our favourite place to eat and drink. The bonus for us is that they do not adorn the walls with flat screen TVs displaying sports etc we are not interested in when out for a drink or meal. The views from this place are not too bad either with views over the valley which can be enjoyed outside weather permitting. With the opportunity to go for walks over this area of countryside to build up a good appetite I don't think you will be disappointed.
