Incredible food here. I had calamari for starter which was so tender just melted in the mouth, then i had lasagna for my main and it was outstanding. Chips were nice and crispy and the garlic bread was so soft and tastey. My dessert really was incredible, i have never eaten something so amazing. I had the chocolate fondont and it was pefectly cooked, melt in the middle, moist and spongey on the outside, couldnt recommend this place enough. The staff were super nice and helpful with choosing our meals, we sat in the beer garden and had the place to our self. We brought our dog and she was allowed off the lead in the garden as its fully dog proof. All together it was such a nice experience and would definitely go back.

Amazing food! We sat in the beer garden which was beautiful. Food was incredible, we had the burger and fish cakes. Great options for all. Russel snd his kitchen staff outdid themselves. Staff were all amazing. 100% recommend!

Stopped off for a quick drink in the sunshine, lush beer garden. Was full to the brim with pensioners. Good for them for getting out of the house!

Fantastic Sunday Roast - so tasty, meat eaters and vegetarians very happy. The nut roast was one of the best I've had. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.

This is a lovely well run pub. We came for my Mothers Birthday last year and we're all very impressed with the food and service. We came again for another function and a buffet and the food was again excellent and all home made. The staff are all lovely and we will be going again.

Where the garden? Straight up the pub is old school, food is typical, staff are great and the highlight of the experience. What i couldnt get over was the lack of an outdoor space, I get it if you dont have the space you dont have it. But it felt really odd.

We are regular customers because of the consistently high standard of food, we have yet to be disappointed, all of the staff are pleasant and efficient, and the owner also is around to help out if needed The restaurant itself has character and outdoor tables for those warmer days. The food is lovely and that staff are very attentive. There weren't many other people there when we went, I prefer that, as there is plenty of parking and it isn't noisy.

We booked a table for 9 of us to celebrate my wife's birthday. The Travellers Rest really looked after us. The food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. They even phoned me earlier today to ask if I would like balloons and banners on the table. Thanks guy's you were brilliant!!

Can't say anything bad about this place. Lovely owners and staff, good food and very dog friendly. Lovely to eat inside or in the garden if it's warm enough. Please take care crossing the road.

One of the best pubs in the area. Good food, real ale and such friendly staff.

We returned again this year and were not disappointed. The owner remembered us which was nice, and again had the time to talk to us and thank us for the repeat custom. By far the best food and service in the area, without any doubt. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Visited the pub today with a group if people ,I must say the food,was absolutely delicious, everything was cooked,tasted absolutely delicious, the service was quick ,staff were so polite,I had roast lamb cooked amazing ,my husband had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection and highly recommends this salmon dish ,what a beautiful way to spend a Sunday lunch time in this beautiful pub ,thank you to all staff,and a massive thank to the chef .

Called into this place a week or so ago on a Sat lunchtime. Nice east parking opposite. It wasn’t at all busy. The food was good and staff very friendly and accommodating. No issue at all sitting inside with our 3 dogs. There was also a lovely secure garden area where they will bring your food to you and your dogs can exercise. Seemed a well run pub and glad we stopped off on route to deeper Cornwall. Note: the road is very busy with fast moving traffic so wise to be careful if you have children or elderly folk wt when crossing. Not far off the main A30.

The only place we go if we want a meal out! The Travellers Rest team are fantastic. They are all lovely and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, and the food is delicious!

The actual building, furniture and floor space is lovely. The staff wasn't overly welcoming, took some time for our food order to be taken. Food arrived, my meal(lasagne) was cold, it didn't even look like lasagne just mince in something with some white sauce thrown on top, I saw 2 small bits of lasagne pasta....asked for it to be reheated, couldn't finish it, it wasn't good. We asked for a jug of hot water to warm a babys bottle and got given tepid/cold water, needed to ask for a jug of boiling hot water. When I asked for the bill I asked if they still done NHS discount to then be told I should of let them know when I arrived because other wise they have to delete everything and do it all again. Turned out I did receive the discount on my bill...Gave cash to pay, didn't receive the change. Safe to say won't be returning.

Fantastic place. Proper home-cooked food, lovely friendly and efficient staff with delicious ale, a gorgeous secret garden and plenty parking. Only three miles from Exeter it’s a proper, lovely escape.

Great Sunday roast only fault a bit pricey

A warm welcome, and was looked after by all the team. Food was absolutely delicious, even got presented with a birthday surprise. Even thought about a selection of non alcoholic drinks for the driver. Thank you, will definitely be coming again.

We were travellers who desperately needed a rest and happened upon this gorgeous traditional cozy pub restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and superb service from the friendly staff and manager, not to mention the really delicious food - promptly served. Definitely plan to go back.

We all had lovely food. For me, it was the all-day breakfast, brilliant, great service with a lovely smile, from the top and lady, all the way down to the young staff, fantastic.

Wow what a lovely pub staff were amazing and friendly food was delicious plenty of it so go with a good appetite definitely recommend eating here!

My visit was for a private function and the only reason I have only scored 4 and no 5 for atmosphere is that my impression is that it may be more restaurant than pub because the bar area is quite small relative to the seating capacity and layout. In every other respect it is excellent.

Had a lovely meal yesterday at the The Travellers Rest we didn't book but they managed to find us a lovely table. First time visit for several years but it will not be my last visit the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and very helpful and always asking if we wanted anything which is a nice touch. We had three courses I had the ribeye steak it was cooked to perfection and the Irish Coffee was lovely my favourite.

Absolutely gorgeous pub, decent size, plenty of parking, outside benches, lunch time menu has loads to offer at a very reasonable price. The staff were really friendly and attentive, didn't have to wait long after ordering. This was the best steak baguette I've ever had! Cooked to perfection, fresh crisp salad and really crunchy fries! Enjoyed this so much! Great value for money. Will definately stop off here again!

Very nice meal we when for Xmas food was good but there wasn't a long wait for the Accompanying vegetables to turn up. Which meant we had to start as the meal would have been cold.

Fabulous atmospere, friendly banter, super food. Toby (the Jack Russell) spoilt.

We went on Saturday lunchtime with the dog, very welcoming and before our order presented water and treats for the dog. Excellent service and food was delicious.

Great place to stop on journey to Cornwall if travelling from Dorset. Just off A30. We mixed four starters instead of a main, which were all very good.

Charming little pub. Incredibly friendly and accommodating personnel. Moreover, the pub welcomes dogs. We opted for the Sunday roast, which, while of moderate quality, was still a satisfying dining experience. Reasonably priced with a diverse selection on the menu.

Very good quality food, lovely staff, very nice atmosphere in this beautiful pub (more like a restaurant really) First place in England where I was actually able to eat the side salad. It was fresh and dressed tasty 🥗 Although the homemade lasagna was not layered with pasta and tomato sauce, it was still a very tasty dish. Portions are generous 😋

Midweek lunch for 2 our first time even though we live locally - great menu with food to suit all tastes! Great value and top quality - we chose two baguettes, a real plate full with fries and large salad and also had a calamari to share. First class friendly service in an immaculately clean pub - highly recommended.

Food and service were lovely. I had a pasta dish off the lunch menu. Smaller portion, but ideal for me. As the larger portions are large. Dropped a star as a mistake on the bill, which was easily rectified when I identified it.

A wonderful old coaching inn with a good amount of parking. We didn't pre-book and there was a large party going on. So it was understandable that the service was a little slower that it would usually be. Still overall, we're more than happy to recommend this pub for a nice meal if your having a drive out and about. Six pieces of Scampi on the plate?? A little more expensive than some good inns in the Torbay area.

There’s plenty of parking on the opposite side of the road. A path for pedestrians to get safety down the slope. The welcome was warm and friendly. We had two large dogs in our group and they were also made very welcome and provided with water and treats. There was a selection of foods on the menu to suit everyone and even a selection of meal sizes for those with varying appetites on the Sunday lunch menus. Everyone in our party of six had well presented and delicious mains.. The deserts were equally scrumptious. At the end of our meal we were shown the secure garden where the dogs could have a romp around before we set off on a long journey. Thank you to the Sunday team, we really appreciated the lovely relaxing atmosphere you created, it made the birthday celebrations all the more special. It’s not mentioned below but I had the crispy duck and lemon posset , gorgeous.

Stopped off here to break up the 4 hour drive home. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was lovely and very good portions. Staff were lovely especially the one guy. Didn't catch his name but he was so sweet had a chat with my husband, myself and my kids. Very warm and welcoming. If it wasn't so far away I'd definitely go again.

As a seasoned traveler with an insatiable appetite for delicious food, we stumbled upon the hidden gem that is Traveller's Rest Pub, and it's safe to say that this place exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we walked in, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Now, let's get to the heart of the matter - the main courses. The portion sizes were nothing short of generous! I'm a big eater, and even I struggled to finish my meal. But every bite was worth it. The steak and kidney pie (home made) with mash was cooked to perfection, and paired wonderfully with the vegetables. One of us also had the mushroom and blue cheese ravioli with garlic bread. So tasty! The customer service was exceptional. The staff here are friendly, attentive, and always ready to recommend their favourite dishes. I, for one, will definitely be returning on my future journeys in this area.

Having our mom’s birthday in here, never expected they would set up a few cute balloons😍 The food was so perfect and the portion is large. We ordered 4 main courses and 3 desserts for 5 people, but we are so full and satisfied at the same time. Also this is a dog friendly place, they even offer treats for our two dogs 🐕 ❤️can’t appreciate more! Highly recommended if you are passing by here!

An excellent stop if you want a lovely atmospheric pub just off the A30. We discovered it on the way down to Cornwall and used it again on the way back. Stayed for lunch and scampi and fishcake meals were good. Service and atmosphere excellent and there is a lovely garden too, if you want to eat outside. Great find.

Lovely feeling place, great privet beer garden, food is tasty and filling, and the beer is always cold and tasty. Worth a stop if your a weary traveler, or if you just want a good meal and a pint.

The food was delicious and although it was a busy evening, the staff were all attentive and helpful as well as letting us know how long the wait would be. Definitely will come again another time.

Food was ok but service was shocking. We were a party of 6 celebrating my friends retirement. Initially we were served by a trainee who was very good. We ate our meal but before we had all finished eating, staff began to clear leaving my friend's mum feeling very uncomfortable. The staff then began to stand around the table asking if we wanted anything else and making us all feel that we should leave, which we did. It was 8.30pm!If you have a specific closing time you should let people know. Very poor etiquette and service. Disappointing.
