My son bought this deep fried beef dish. I took it back to say it wasn’t fit for human consumption and would like a full refund to be shouted at and asked to leave the shop. The lettuce was off and the beef wasn’t any better also dish looked as try as an Arabs sandle . I Wouldn’t give this to a dog definitely won’t be back. (Food still under scientific review) lol

Delivery took an hour, Food wasn’t cooked properly raw chicken balls, was offered a refund if I go into the shop but kind of just disappointed and won’t be back

Whoever took the order over the phone was ignorant and rude. It took a second attempt to call by someone else to eventually get through to the Individual on the phone to place the order. The food was disgusting and didn’t represent any food group I recognise. Won’t be wasting my money with this place ever again.

The thing that stands out the most is the sauces are so runny it’s unbelievable. Curry sauce was runny, Crispy shredded chicken in chilli sauce was runny and flavourless. Paid for extra spicy and it was so bland. How can a chef possibly send that out with confidence. It’s literally as runny as water when it’s supposed to be thick. I will never buy again for that reason. Also it got to me within 20 mins and that might sound like a good thing but when the food quality is so low it makes you wonder why it’s getting out so fast.

Not a good experience. I’m not fussy when it comes to food, this was terrible though. I order a Crispy shredded chicken, cooked in honey chilli sauce. The sauce was so runny, you’d have sworn it was just water, completely ruined the meal. For a side I ordered salt and chilli chips. Chips completely undercooked. Watery chicken and raw potato. Not good. Not good, definitely not worth a visit again.

Great place for eat, collection service is very fast with timing when is ready. Food always amazing, staff very friendly, i recommend special fried rice.

Tranent Villa is my all time favourite Chinese - I have had Chinese food from other places around East Lothian and Edinburgh and nothing compares to the Tranent Villa. The staff are so kind as well and the deliveries are always early or on time! Would highly recommend.

Food - adequate but probably tampered with Service - abominable We ordered in store here and were almost immediately subjected to verbal abuse by the staff in store. We ordered and then staff decided to verbalise that they “did not like us”, completely inappropriately and without any justification. Is 9.30pm too late to order at a place that closes at 11pm?! Whatever it was, the staff’s attitude and behaviour were uncalled for, unjust, unwelcoming and down right rude. After moving to Tranent recently we thought we would try a local takeaway to celebrate our move to the area and had heard good things about this place. It’s extremely disheartening and disappointing to receive such discriminatory and unwelcoming behaviour and language when moving to a new place. Certainly will not be using this business again. Would advise not to use.

Crispy shredded beef with chili sauce was so sweet it was inedible, covered in sauce so not crispy at all. Chow mein was ok but lacked flavour, chicken wings ok. I feel bad giving one star but there really wasn’t anything positive I can add.

Ordered a chow mein specifically asked without mushrooms as my girlfriend is alegic to the guess what loafs if onions what's the point of asking if your request is ignored very disappointing.

Best chinese in Tranent unfortunately was given prawns in dishes when specifically said no prawns so watch out if you have allergies as it is just laughed off although full refund given could have been dangerous!!

Not a great meal. Our take away was ready so quickly that it definitely wasn't fresh. Dishes seemed to be the exact same mix of ingredients with a different sauce added over the top

Decided to give this place a try tonight as im in Musselburgh for a week and was glad that I did. Food was excellent and delivery was punctual. Great portions and reasonably priced. Will be ordering again before I go home.

Ordered meal, which was chicken chow Mein, well I ll call it chicken!!! More like chow Mein, with chips which tasted like card board portion size has obviously, reduced, standards has obviously fallen won't be using this place again

Food was disgusting. Not fit for humans, animals etc. Crispy Beef was a congealed mess in a tub. It all went in the bin. Worst take-away I have ever seen in my life.

Very good food there salt and chilli chicken bites and salt and chilli chips are the best big portions and they will try there best to get something for you that is on the menu

Think the owner is on holiday, last and rhis week my meal has been appauling. This used to be my favourite take away, but after tonight i don't think i will be back. Onion Currry - the onions were raw and i know they chop chunky but this was like quartered onions, not seperated. Woul have been as well sticking whole raw onions in. Chips - was more like a bag of chipsticks, overcooked, rock solid, lots of tiny scrappy chips. Uneidable. Ribs were freezing and chewy. I waited ages, the girl serving kept going through the back, talking loudly and shouting and laughing, like they had nothing else to do.

Love this place will continue to order meals here

First visit and thought Id try the reasonably priced set menu. Sweet and sour Vhicken had very odd aftertaste and chicken mushy. Crispy beef was chewy and half was burnt. Rice and soup was ok but rest went in bin. Won't try again

As a lover of Chinese food, I order from the Tranent Villa on a regular basis. I'm sure the woman who answers the phone is sick of hearing from me lol I gave this a 4 out of 5 simply because I can't stand soggy chips, which there is sometimes. Other than that, I love the food here. I'd recommend the Munchie Box, if you like spicy food. Or for something milder, the Special Platter.

Daughter ordered chips with salt and chilli cheese. Charged £5.85 food turned up freezing cold and soggy, put a temp gauge in showed 10degrees! Seriously dodgy food temp!,,, 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. Called spoke to Ha and she quite frankly didn’t care and told me it was cold because ...wait for it... they were deep fried!!!! 🙄 seriously. I told her we want our money back and she said no and that she would welcome H&S and trading standards! Well I hope you do welcome them! As they will come knocking when u serve food like that!

Chicken was omg yuck... Such a waste off money.. why can't you buy good chicken and cook it properly.. this is your job.. all your after is our money as you don't listen to your customers.. another customer lost.

Service always quick and efficient, the food is lovely here one of the best in the area! Just remember to bring cash as they do not offer a card payment.

If I'm having a chicken curry,I always go here.I've tried all the other Chinese takeaways in Tranent for a curry and found this one to be the best.

Best chicken curry in east Lothian

I come here on Friday night for chips curry sauce with onion and spring rolls - i never leave a scrap. It's braw! Fresh, tasty and just the ticket on a cold night! The lady is is lovely and the portion size is good.

Ordered chicken balls fried rice and chips chicken smelt rotten bear in mind this was for a 7 year old who wouldnt have known any better i cut chicken up and it was disgusting i called about my concern and she was very abusive on thw phone o just spent nearly 11 and have still has nothing to eat she wasnt interested and basically told us to deal with it she was extremwly horrible to me on the phone i will nevwr be ordering from here again itp was disgusting no need it this atall environmental health will be getting called!!!!!!!!!!!@!

I go to the Tranent villa with my friends every 2 weeks, the past 2 times we have been we have not enjoyed the Chinese at all. First of all the service we received when we phoned was appalling the lady blocked my phone number because apparently our address was fake, the lady then put the phone Down on us so we had to call off another phone it took about another 30 minutes for us to finally get our order in. Tonight we ordered another Chinese and the chicken was pink. Not happy with the service we received.

Good value for money, speedy service warm and friendly. Good take away. Delivery service available. the food is always warm.

Best Chinese ever .. We have tried a few over the years . From the lemon chicken to chicken curry ,special chow mein , duck with white mushrooms . Pick up or deliver .

Service dodgy to say the least, seem to think they were doing you a favour by selling to you, food distinctly average. Delivery time longer than told it would be. Cheaper than most .

Great Chinese take-away wouldn't go anywhere else.Always busy but don't have to wait long. They will come and go with your order if you want something added or taken out.

Utilizamos esta comida china en un buen número de años y ha sido muy feliz, nuestra entrega esta tarde de nuestra comida habitual era sin duda no es justo. llamando por teléfono a la señora fue más allá grosero y básicamente no ofrecen restitución o una nueva comida hasta los demás nos recogieron y nos registramos en cocina que para una noche muy concurrida sería hasta 2 horas de ida y vuelta!!!! Me dijo que si no estaba contento que podíamos llevar nosotros mismos, sólo carne arroz como plato, aunque muy bien, aunque no estoy seguro de cómo significaba para comer que seco y sabroso, explicó lo nuevo bebé de ahí coger comida para llevar en primer lugar. Todo lo que pedimos es tener un conductor trae una sustitución tan pronto como sea posible, como se puede esperar de un buen servicio al cliente pero ella colgó cuando me enfrenté! Terrible, muy decepcionados.

Never had one complaint about this Chinese. The food is always excellent and I always receive a very quick delivery.

Food is brilliant, can't fault it, just a pity about the service. Many orders arriving with food missing and when you phone to complain they make a big deal about it. Apparently if there's rice missing from your meal "it's just rice"

I have been going to this Chinese for two years now and i have never been disappointed yet! The staff are very friendly aswell.

My favourite Chinese takeaway every. Good is consistently excellent and delivery times are excellent. They even deliver to my work for me. Staff are very friendly and in the rare occasion your not satisfied are very understanding and helpful.

As a regular customer to The Tranent Villa I have never been disappointed with what I've got. I normally choose between myFavourite 3 dishes when ordering and between them all they are great.When I have friends round I am always confident at suggesting this Chinese and they seem to like what they get which is always a variation.
