Delivery was a bit late, ok I’ll phone- got message they are closed, turns out it’s an old ansaphone message . Food delivered ten minutes late - that’s ok, however the lemon chicken had no lemon and was tough as old boots, inedible. Nicely offered free lemon chicken next time- not really what I would prefer as I am visiting friends. Overall a fairly average meal. With confusing menu as regarding sauces. Sorry- but can’t recommend

The restaurant is now closed, by the sounds of it permanently. My wife and son had take away and said it was nice. Star rating reflects the fact there are no sit down meals. Shame as it used to be a really bustling and busy restaurant and take away. Now very quiet.

Having tasted Chinese food the length and breadth of the country, this is up there for pure taste. Can’t believe some of the reviews here. Must have been on a very very bad day because tonight each dish was authentically tasty. One must try the Pork Kon Sui.

We only ever choose the dragon way (also called KONGS) in COCKENZIE. STAFF always lovely. Not tried a huge variety on the menu as lemon chicken our absolute favourite and difficult to not choose it. We probably wouldn’t eat in as restaurant area could do with a makeover but don’t let that put you off as food is so delicious and really plentiful portions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Used to love this place, it was my go to Chinese takeaway despite living in tranent, but I assume with new management it's gone downhill, food used to be amazing and was fresh, reasonably priced too, but now the food is mediocre at best, significantly reduced portion sizes, higher prices, longer waiting times and our order was wrong (TWICE!) Resulting in a very cold, disappointing dinner for all my family, get your act together quickly, otherwise I don't see this new management lasting long.

Had lemon chicken, fried rice and veg spring rolls. It was defiantly quantity over quality for me. The chicken was tough and the sauce was too think. Rice as good and the spring rolls were thinly filled and very oily. Wouldn’t order again

Staying in the area we needed something to eat at a fairly fast pace so decided Chinese would be best. We called ahead to order for a collection. There were 5 of us and the price given seemed a bit cheap to us so we weren't expecting much. The food was ready to collect and was practically bursting out the containers. I have never seen such huge portions! Then to crown it all it was extremely tasty. There was easily enough to feed 2 from each portion. Would have given 5 stars if they tidied up the restaurant a bit as it did feel like we were queuing at the back door. We will go again if in the area.

Went for a sit in meal for pensioners advertised for six pounds, there where 3 of us, only to be told they don't do sit in good now! Told we could have a take away but when I asked for the pensioners menu was told we couldn't have this, it had to be from their full price menu, needless to say we walked out and will not be back, definitely false advertising!

Ordered a munchiebox delivery tonight as not been to this Chinese in years and wanted to try out this deal as thought great value money. More like waste of money! Chicken that was in batter had a very chemical taste which instantly put me off. The noodles were so dry and you could tell they were not even remotely fresh! The sauces in the box were tasteless and congealed in texture. Only thing that’s was edible was the chilli chips but even they tasted like cardboard from the box they in. More or less all the food binned. Would never eat from here again just hope I don’t get sick later from that “chemical taste” in chicken.

We made the mistake of getting a carry out from here tonight. Four dishes: lemon chicken, king prawn and cashew nut and two vegetarian dishes with different sauces alongside rice. The food was swimming in gelatinous sauces which were either scarlet or muddy brown. The vegetables were soggy and tasteless and it feels like the meal may have contained a lot of MSG as thirst has set in. Most of the food went in the bucket! What a waste of money. I have never had such bad Chinese food and feel that it's an insult to link it to Chinese cuisine. Avoid this place at all costs!

We drove past this establishment and there are 3 different Chinese takeaways within a mile i would say. We initially were going to go for their dine in offer Sun - Thursday for £10.95 but when we weighed up the dishes in that offer it wasn't that much cheaper (if cheaper at all). We rang to order the takeaway and didn't know it actually puts you through to their other branch and they send the order to Cockenzie branch. Delivery is £1.20 but was more than double the collection ready time so we collected. I thought food was good although king prawns quite small. Mixed platter appetiser for 2 was a little dry looking but the prawn toasts were really tasty. I know there are mixed reviews about this place but we didn't have a problem and enjoyed the meal.

Visited for a take away to be delivered for myself and five friends. Told it would be an hour. After one hour and ten I called to check progress. Told it may be 15 minutes more "or something ". Asked what that meant was informed she didn't know. I asked if she could check. She shouted in Chinese to someone who I can only assume was the cook. He yelled back at her and I heard him informing her to cancel our meal. So she came back on and said he had done this. At no time did I raise my voice or become disrespectful. An absolute joke! Thankfully there are lots of great Chinese places to go to here, so we ordered somewhere else and it was delivered in 20 minutes and was beautiful. As for Dragon Way. Avoid if you have any sense.

My family of four, 2 adults 2 children (5 & 11) were staying nearby and had come here for a meal on our last night. It doesn't look much from outside but it is lovely inside. You can see into the kitchen when waiting to be seated. It was very quiet when we were there as it was a weekday. The woman who greeted us was lovely and welcoming, both boys wanted the same dish and she asked if we would prefer they share the same meal as the dish was rather big, and she wasn't kidding. One meal did both the boys (Chicken Fried Rice), Sweet & Sour Chicken with Noodles was actually finished by my other half (he really doesn't usually finish a meal completely but was adamant with this one) and I had Chicken Satay with Fried Rice and was genuinely sad that I couldn't fit it all in my belly! Honestly, the food was amazing and the staff were delightful!

Delivery turned up 2 hours after we ordered, were told it would only be an hour at the most. After 90 minutes we were fed up calling and being told lies/argued with by person on phone over petty details (rather than just admitting there had been a mistake and doing something about it)so cancelled the order and went elsewhere. Despite this they still turned up so clearly no communication which explains the excessive waiting times. Glad we opted for elsewhere having read similar reviews about the state of food after long waits. Never again

We visited this "restaurant" on the 5th September for our wedding anniversary, I think it is safe to say that we will not be back. It would appear that the staff focus more on getting the delivery side of the business done rather than the paying customers in the restaurant. We had to wait for over an hour between our starter and main and when it came out my wife found that the had not even cooked hers properly. When I went to complain the "manageress" was not interested and made a poor excuse with no apology - my recommendation is to stay away from here unless you aren't hungry and want to sit in a cold, dark restaurant for a while

We arrived about 7pm on the 5th Sept. three of us (2 adults & 1 child). Not overly busy I thought, but were told no menus were available, if we wouldn't mind waiting. Waited 15 mins then got menus. Drinks order was taken (all soft drinks) and arrived after another 10 mins, and order taken. After waiting another 30 mins went to ask when our meal might be ready, told not for a while, first excuse was the girl had forgotton to put our order in, next excuse was only 2 chefs on. But there were plenty of carry outs being served. We decided not to wait any longer and paid for our drinks and left. Another two couples did the same as us and they'd been waiting longer than us. I went for a family meal while on holiday at Seton Sands. On arrival it was in complete darkness, empty and we found the atmosphere rather tense and uncomfortable. The food took a long time. We ordered "lemon" chicken, however we were brought what appeared to be sweet and sour chicken. However, we were assured that it was lemon chicken made with sweet and sour sauce. Despite our bad experience, the waiter was accommodating and gave us a plate for our child to enable us to share our meal with our child as they did not have kids meals.Overall, the food was not that good and overpriced and I would not return.

Coming from a weekend of living in a caravan we expected to have a nice welcome and somewhere warm to sit. So wron. As soon as we got in the place was dull & freezing. I asked the man for a table for 4 and he made no contact and just said there. (pointing at table) he then walked away. We sat for nearly 15 mins waiting on menu which we had to in the end help ourselfs to. Waiters attitude was stinking and was slamming books, storming about and acting like a spoilt toddler. 2 men prim and proper came in with suits and they couldn't have got a nicer welcome, menus straight away and a bowl of prawn crackers. After 20 mins we eventually got our drinks. After a while we then got our prawn crackers which tasted like they had sat in a dusty cupboard for a few weeks. When food did come the chips could knock somebody out they were that hard. My curry was still powdery and rice was stodgy. Don't get me wrong a large bowl of rice however not tasty. Also £4.50 for a small bowl of plain noodles is abit steep. Will not be coming back, ever. Maybe if they hired a nicer waiter next time and we didn't get treat like 2nd class citizens.

We used to be regular diners at this Port Seton restaurant, having eaten there since it opened. In fact when the family first opened in Prestonpans we ate there regularly. The food cooked by Alex, the father, was amazing and we followed him to Edinburgh over the years.I recently met a fellow diner who said the food was good so we tried it after an absence of a good few years, due to the fact that the food and service had definitely gone downhill,What a mistake. The place was virtually in darkness and no one else was in there; should have told us something, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and went in. No heating and marble topped tables. How stupid could we be?Anyway the starter of pork "chops" costing £10 was small and the crispy won tons were mainly crispy pastry. I ordered lemon chicken, started to eat it and realised it was full of pineapple and was probably sweet and sour. When I questioned it I was told that was what they served as lemon chicken so the waiter was told to take it away and no I did not want it replaced. a rather irate daughter in law appeared and insisted that the lemon chicken was always cooked that way and was told not so. It was taken off the bill and we most definitely will never be back.It is so sad to see it having gone so far downhill. If you value your money do not waste your time going there. It is also expensive for what they are palming you off with. We were disgusted and angry at wasting our evening.

After reading some of the reviews it was 50/50 whether we would visit, we are so glad we did! There are 5 restaurants in this chain and all the reviews appear to go on one site. We were staying in Seton Sands but traveled a couple of miles down the road to the Prestonpans restaurant run by Michael Yip who greeted us as we arrived. We arrived just after opening time on a Monday and were taken to our table and had the menu presented to us and the specials explained. We chose the Banquet menu which we started with the soup, 2 x sweet and sour and a chicken and sweetcorn, we all enjoyed. This was followed by the crispy platter which was piled high with chicken toast, ribs, battered king prawn, duck rolls, spring rolls etc. This was delicious and we needed a 20 min break before we could tackle the main course. Mains was two large battered chicken fillets with lemon sauce, Chilli beef ( best any of us have ever had) sizzling beef with rice and noodles, all of these were large portions and piping hot. dessert followed which was toffee banana with ice cream, which we couldn't finish! The Banquet was £15.00 pp which we thought was good value, so much so we visited again on our last night! I cannot imagine that any of the poor reviews can be for this particular restaurant as we found it faultless. Thank you Michael and staff, next visit to Scotland will be via Prestonpans.

We needed to find a nice eatery for my birthday meal and so we asked around and got mixed reviews about visiting here.We are glad we didn't listen to the not so nice ones!We were the only diners eating in and enjoyed the fact we had no noisy diners. We were served very promptly with drinks (one of which was milk which they had none of so they sent someone out especially to get some for us) and allowed to spend a good amount of time choosing our meal.As there was so much to choose from we decided to go for things we don't normally see in our local Chinese take-away to give ourselves a different experience. My daughter chose crispy chicken strips but did not in fact like them as she didn't realize they came in a sauce with vegetables and the sauce was rather spicy for her. WE swapped hers out with some of the stuff we chose. We chose sweet & sour chicken balls, Cantonese pork & special beef rice. It was more than i could eat but the value was so good i didn't mind leaving it. The waitress did offer to box it up for us but as we were on holiday and not really eating in the caravan we didn't bother. It was an exception meal with exceptional service and should I find myself there again i will definitely be visiting again

My parents booked a table at the Dragon Way in Prestonpans for my 40th Birthday. We were a party of 9 (including two children) and although the restaurant was quiet that evening, the takeaway was pretty busy.Firstly, I cannot fault the service we received from our waitress, Audrey. She was incredibly attentive, and very helpful. She even entertained my two year old nephew at the fish tank whilst we were all eating, as he was becoming incredibly bored!!We had an array of starters (including the seafood platter my partner and I shared). Although this particular platter took an age to come was definitely worth the wait! The plate was brimming - the mussels were enormous, the rest of the seafood of a very high quality and, to be honest, we were full having eaten that! The main courses were again of a high standard and there was plenty of food on the plates - far too much in fact! Thanks for helping make my 40th a great evening!

The service was excellent too, the young man who served us was beyond helpful with a lovely attitude and the young girl was also very nice although she didn't speak very much, just toke our plates away and that was it really, she was quite busy so I guess she was a bit flustered. However the management was a joke, we had overheard another table who had complained about their lack of service, which I don't think was a very valid complaint, however the so called manager was clueless! The girl told us that she doesnt get her tips which too me is Disgusting!!! One of the girls that works in the camps shop told us about how the management treats his staff, shouting abuse at them or simply ignoring them, and that they lose a lot of staff due the way they are treated by their so called boss! As soon as we were shown our table and he disappeared without a word.Obviously its a Sunday and its a buffet and we didnt know if we just went for the food or order from a menu, after 10 minutes we just got up and got our food, most of the food had like a skin on it as if it had been there a while, nothing to tell you what you were eating. 20 minutes past and still no one asked us if we would like a drink, 40 minutes past and still no one asking if we would like a drink it got to about the 1 hour mark and we had just had enough let alone needing some sort of drink. We had two people take away our plates and not one asked if we wanted a drink. This is not acceptable.Anyway after an hour we just got up and paid the bill, I asked for the manager and I explained what I had just wrote and he turned round to me and said " What do you want me to do about it" That Dragon Way is why wont be back !!! Locals are what keep your business running

I have been using this Chinese since it opened a few years ago. The food is excellent. Really good quality and reasonable price. The chefs will cook a dish if it is not on the extensive menu. Lemon chicken is my particular favourite.

Cannot really fault the food in any way it was lovely. A little over priced for take away but once we had tasted the food we weren't as bothered. I have never ever had prawn crackers from anywhere that actually tasted of prawn! One thing I wasn't massively keen on was the curry sauce but that was just personal taste. I wish you were in Yorkshire!

Had a takeaway from here as we were staying down the road at Haven Seton Sands. I'm very fussy about my Chinese takeaway but this one was VERY good. The kitchen, which you can see from the takeaway counter, is very clean and all the food we ordered was freshly cooked and very very tasty. We fed six people well for a smidge under £40 which in my view was great. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely use Dragon Way again. Recommended.

Order taken quickly and food arrived quickly - only two positives. Both meals were very greasy and left an unpleasant taste, wont return again.

We have been dining at Dragons Way in Prestonpans for as long as it has been opened. Last week when having our usual Friday night meal, I attempted to tip a young man who had served extremely well throughout our meal to be told that unfortunately staff could not accept tips. When i asked why this was, the response was that "the tips just go to the restaurant". I don't know what is worse - the fact that Management / restaurant benefits from the excellent service given by their team or the fact that this staff member seemed to accept this.I am absolutely disgusted that staff are not able to keep even a share of the tips they earn. This has 100% changed my view on the establishment and will not be back and will inform family and friends who also usually dine at Dragons Way.Change your ways!

Always superb Chinese food at the Dragon Way. Some dishes quite surprising - not your standard Scottish Chinese fare. Restaurant not usually busy outside summer season - takeaway always does roaring trade. If you want a cheap, quality Chinese meal look no further. House wine surprisingly good.

When I called to make an order for collection I was told 15 mins only to be left waiting a further 20 mins on arrival. While I was waiting the delivery bag was filled with 4 delivery's that sat on the counter the whole time & was still there when I eventually left. The guy's attitude was awful. If it hadn't been for the girl delivery's driver going through the back I would still have been standing there. I called out to them twice and I was completely ignored. Now on to the food ......... cooked within and inch of it's life. The pork was as dry as a stick, the fried rice looked like boiled rice, no egg or colour to mention, the chicken curry has more onions and sauce than chicken. It's a shame you can give minus star reviews.

I love the food here, the prices are a bit expensive however it’s definitely worth it as a treat in my opinion. I love the chicken skewers, the rice and curry sauce, the chicken chow mein was also pretty good. The staff are okay, not overly friendly which i enjoy I’m not too keen on waiters putting on a full performance to possibly get a tip, staff in here just do their jobs, love that. Overall it’s a pretty casual atmosphere with options to sit in or takeaway, or for delivery. However it is closed Monday and Tuesday, but open every other day from 5-10pm however 9pm cut off time for sitting in. Street parking is available however it may be difficult during busier/tourist periods. Pets not welcome.

My son bought this deep fried beef dish. I took it back to say it wasn’t fit for human consumption and would like a full refund to be shouted at and asked to leave the shop. The lettuce was off and the beef wasn’t any better also dish looked as dry as an Arabs sandle . I Wouldn’t give this to a dog definitely won’t be back. (Food still under scientific review) lol

Bought lemon chicken and boiled rice but had to throw it away when I got home. The rice was hard and tasted ‘old’ like it was cooked yesterday. Half the chicken was ok but the rest had a strange taste and I didn’t want to risk food poisoning. There was also very little sauce. What a shame as I have visited this takeaway quite a few times over the years but I’m wondering if it’s changed hands? I phoned to let them know about the food and got no joy. Sadly I’ll not be driving the 20 mins to return and waste money on unpalatable food.

We had a very relaxed meal, it wasnt busy sitting in, only us on a Tuesday night. Food was good and quick service. Toilets were a bit of a trek for my brother who has a disability.
