Really amazing place! Lovely staff and very chilled vibe. The quality of the food is exceptional - the best scones I’ve ever had and the bacon is a real hit. I really recommend and can’t wait to come back.

I've had coffee here only infrequently. It is once every two months over the last year. I have always had a large Americano and a cake. Without exception the coffee has been excellent. It is a good strength without any bitterness or sourness. Congratulations to the batista. The staff are consistently pleasant. The cakes are fresh and tasty. If only my local café could match this.

I am not one to write reviews but I felt so disappointed coming here I just had to! I have eaten in this cafe many times and I've always enjoyed the food, I have not had any issues. HOWEVER I will not be returning here (although I live just 2 minute walk away) I came in with my two young children one Sunday afternoon, we arrived at 12 but by the time we had chosen our food it was 12.10. My daughter really wanted the French toast but we was told this was not possible as the menu it is on has 'stopped' at 12 due to there being two separate menus and the kitchen couldn't keep up with that! I understand if it was busy but there was only us and a few other people (who were already eating) , it was only french toast for a small child! - Bad Customer Service! Brilliant customer service- We decided to leave, we went to Saucy Sausage in the high street, where we ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream, but they had no whipped cream.(This was absolutely fine, just as happy with a plain hot chocolate) The staff member took it upon himself and went out of his way to the shops next door to buy cream and Marshmallows to give it that little bit extra! This is my eyes is brilliant customer service and what it is all about. I will not be returning to the tram stop cafe which is a shame as I've been taking my family there for years!

I must say this is by far the most unpleasant dining experience I've had since moving to Croydon almost seven years ago. Nearly all the meat on the menu was pork so I went for the veggie breakfast which I usually enjoy. When the food came it looked colourless bland and and very unappetising. As I stared at the greyness I noticed my eggs were under done and immediately asked my fiancee to swap haa ... Hers were over done but I dont mind that so much. Sausage undercooked low quality, boiled mushrooms? Everything bad even the beans were just heated but not cooked. As people who enjoy food we both were feeling really unhappy after we left. Mostly upset at ourselves for sitting and trying to eat, for not leaving immediately when the food arrived. Nice latte and nice service 👌

Loved this cute little cafe!! We recently moved here and find it hard to find any cafe that does healthy breakfast/lunch instead of only fried food. So we were delighted to get a couple of salads! My partner had the warm potato salad with chorizo & halloumi, and it was delicious. I had the avocado and cucumber salad and added falafel; I thought there could have been more dressing and feta as it was a little plain but it was still quite good 😊 really friendly staff, we were seated and served right away! We were really pleased when Tramstop re-opened a few weeks ago. Covid measures carried out to the letter. Cards for track and trace presented when seated or phone scan available. Tables and chairs sanitised after previous customers. Staff will show you to a table when one is ready. Very pleasant and efficient waitresses - not afraid to remind customers of the rules! Food is very good - particularly the bacon rolls. There is a changeover period from breakfast to lunch which is clearly stated on the menus. Only drawback is that sometimes large tables occupied by people (often one) using the cafe as an office - which, with limited seating at present - denies other members of the public a pleasant experience.

I have always had a pleasant experience at the Tram Stop. Today however was totally different. I bought a coffee, and then a tea. I was sat on my laptop and half way through drinking my tea ( whilst on the phone) my phone call was rudely interrupted by the owner/ manager of the cafe to tell me once I was off the phone he needed to speak with me. I finished my phone call and was promptly told it was lunch time and he needed me to leave as it was getting busy and that I was using his cafe as a office. Bearing in mind I was halfway through my second drink in less than 2 hours, I feel this was quite rude. Needless to say I won’t be using his cafe as an ‘office’ or indeed for any other reason again.

Unpleasant experience at The Tram Shop, went there for lunch (2 adults and three children), started to place order and the youngest child (7) asked for her eggs to be scrambled. The waitress said rudely: "we don't do scrambled eggs for lunch". "Fine", we said, "but you have eggs on the menu, you serve scrambled eggs at breakfast, and this young child would like to have them scrambled, surely that should be possible". "No", she insisted, and she went to the kitchen. Soon came out the chef, or manager, he did not introduce himself, just said angrily: "I hear you have a problem here". We said we did not have a problem, just asked for scrambled eggs for the child. "We don't do scrambled eggs for lunch", he replied, quite aggressively. So we left.

I want to support interesting local independent places, but the Tram Stop is hard to support unconditionally. We live round the corner and have been a few times. It feels like somewhere that is doing ok - often very busy, and so doesn't try any harder. If there were any similar competition it might struggle. Most striking problem is more often than not, you will not feel welcome. Staff turn over seems high, many of whom give the impression of doing you a favour by taking you order, bringing your food, taking you money. And this comes from the top, the owner is the unfriendliest of all. Menu is interesting , though specials have been the same for years - why not add them to menu and have genuine changing specials ?The ingredients are good quality, but not good value.Space is light but not airy, decor nice but tired now. As I said if there were anywhere else nearby offering waffles or chorizo salad it would have to try harder - as they have to in Beckenham.

Very disappointed, have lived in the area long before the Tram Stop opened. Finally took my first visit in there and the service was slow and did not appear to be fussed we were waiting to point had to get up to see if it was table or order at the counter. The worst of it was notifying the shop assistant that there was a dirty great big fly all over the mini quiches that were not covered. She shooed away the fly and took the quiches out. Later a man who must be a manager must have asked why they were out. She explained and he put them right back on display. Totally not okay and will be my first and last visit

After his head exploded and they had a small staff meeting!?! And a 25 minute wait ! A fried egg sandwich arrived in granary and no toast. The yolk was hard boiled maybe due to the time delay. I honestly thought that it was a former station waiting room. Perhaps it was the large clock on the wall. Maybe it was the eau-de-nil coloured deep border below the cream walls. Or the old poster -like pictures of Devon and Edinburgh and other famous cities. The name over the cafe was TRAM STOP. You could it at the end of the platform that went to Beckenham as one alighted from the tram. Inside were dark brown tables that looked as if they were like old sewing machines with their iron legs. Access had been easy for my daughter’s pram.We were greeted by smiling Chantelle who assured me that this delightful cafe had once been a cake shop 3 years ago. The lighting was delicate and under the imposing glass covered counter there were many cakes and quiches. There is a good range of tasty bites. My wife chose an all- day breakfast which was inexpensive and nicely cooked. Although it was lunchtime, they were prepared to do a vegetarian breakfast for my daughter. We sat in an alcove where she could also feed her new-born baby. However down one side was a brick wallpaper. This is normally used on stage sets where it is seen from a distance. I think something far more appropriate and attractive would help the decoration of this cafe which is friendly to young mothers. The only toilet was clean, refurbished and had a baby change tray.As well as the eau-de-nil paint there was a darker shade of green in places.. I think it is a pity that the chips in the paintwork that are bound to be present after 3 years have not been touched up.I would also suggest that the inevitability of stickiness is cleaned up quickly from the tables. It could be a good idea to freshen up this pleasant little cafe by painting the dark brown tables in perhaps a pink cream matte paint, then sealing them with matte varnish, which is excellent for wiping down.

When he brought our drinks over a lot had been spilt into the saucer and we weren't offered any serviettes. I don't know if it's a regular thing, but while people were eating and drinking, the man dragged a wheelie bin through the cafe and out through the front door. The only good point was the girl on the till, who was very friendly. This cafe is rightly praised. It is at the centre of Addiscombe's community in many ways and has always welcomed everyone. There is always space for children and several little nippers were in enjoying ice cream with their mums when we came in for lunch. It is obvious that local groups use this cafe as a meeting place. Great place for preschool mums to meet up.The food was excellent. I had Cumberland sausage with caramelised onion and mustard on ciabatta. My wife had a Scottish melt: bacon, haggis, cheese and cranberry. Carefully thought out flavours. Deserts looked amazing but were beyond us.We are fortunate to have such quality on the doorstep and I urge friends to patronise such places. It's the 'Use It Or Lose It' principle. Of course, you could just go to KFC and eat food that is identical the world over, but what would be the fun in that?

Having found ourselves in Addiscombe for a morning appointment, we looked for somewhere to get a coffee at about 8.15am. The Tram Stop was open, it looked nice from the outside so in we went. We had a nice greeting from the owner, were pleased with the decor and enjoyed really good cappuccinos and most importantly the best poached eggs on toast I have had for a long time! All in all a great breakfast experience - we can't wait until the next appointment.....

The food here is lovely and the staff are friendly. Cakes are delicious and they have a good selection of quality soft drinks. Can get very busy during peak times so getting a table can be tricky and the choice of table can be limited. Seems to be popular with parents with their babies which can mar the experience.

Today was my second visit to The Tram Stop for lunch and I will definitely be returning. The service is great and the food even better, I highly recommend the macaroni cheese and the brownies are to die for. It's a great place to take a baby too, good changing facilities and space for prams and more importantly the staff are really accommodating. Looking forward to returning and trying the breakfast next time.

This was our second visit. The staff are friendly and they have a delicious selection of cakes and cookies and an impressive list of quality hot beverages. We visited in the evening so haven’t tried the breakfast or lunch menu but looking forward to an opportunity.

I recently visited the tram stop cafe with my newborn baby. The service was good and friendly, I felt comfortable and welcome with my baby and the food tasted fresh and delicious! There was lots of choice on the menu for lunch as well as tempting cakes and baked goodies on display to choose from! I would recommend and will definatley be returning soon!

Just walked into the Tram Stop, we had found a table. We are two young mothers with babies. The old man working there who I am guessing was the owner, told us we needed to move tables as we were taking up to much space. He spoke in a very rude way, 'GIRLS GIRLS you need to move as you are taking up so much space in the restaurant'. We are both really upset as we are regulars at the cafe but have been treated like children so decided to up and leave. I would recommend this cafe if you have buggies and babies.

Lovely little place, very friendly and lovely food and cakes. We popped in for an hour on a Wednesday morning and enjoyed a chunky bacon sandwich. The coffee machine was broken but we had tea. Comfortable seating and great to have books about local interest. We will be back!

We live close by and have been a few times. The food is always excellent. The service varies considerably. Sometimes it is friendly and quick while other times the staff are slow to come over, indifferent and once even surly. Given it is a lovely local independent cafe if the staff made the effort to be friendly and polite it would be fantastic. Food 5/5 service 2/5

Bank Holiday Monday morning myself and my partner decided to go out for breakfast. As we were new to the area we thought it would be a good opportunity to try something local. It was the great reviews on Tripadvisor that made us choose the Tram Stop. We thought it looked a lot nicer than your local greasy spoon. When we arrived we could see that it was busy and remembered the reviews online that said service could be slow so was prepared to just take it easy. It took 5-8 minutes for somebody to come over to us to take our order. We were told when ordering that they were busy and we replied that it was fine. Our drinks came about 10 minutes later. After 35 minutes or so, the numbers within the café started dwindling and it became quieter. I was concerned at this point thatt beans, scrambled egg and toast was taking rather a long time. After 1 hour of waiting my breakfast came out but not my partners. I assumed his would be out a few minutes later. 15 minutes later we noticed he still hadn't received his breakfast however a couple that we remember coming in about 40 minutes after we did were being served. I then asked the waitress where my partners breakfast was and she responded with "you didn't order anything for him". I was obviously shocked and I corrected her and said we did. She then responded with "no you initially ordered an English Breakfast (his order) then cancelled it and ordered beans, scrambled egg and toast." I corrected her again and repeated the order of events verbatim to which she responded " Well I never heard him". I then had to tell her of course you never heard him as I put in the order. The next comment she made was. " Im sorry, if you make another order you're going to have to wait a long time". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was livid. By this point my partner, weak from hunger I can only assume, just told me to finish up and lets pay. Which I was going to do. However I noticed a member of staff went over to the couple who came some time after us to apologise profusely for the wait and to see if they were ok. At this point my blood was boiling.A new waitress started her shift and I ask her to get the manager. It turns out the waitress who served us was the manager. I then told her the service was appalling, that we had sat through the busy period and still had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for what was essentially fried egg, beans and toast. I reminded her that her attitude was poor and her apology insincere. She didn't seem to care.We went to a lovely café a few doors down and were met by a number of people who had left the Tram Stop due to the long wait and poor service. I was informed that the owner, a gentleman is usually brilliant and the service great. My experience was totally the opposite.

I work yards from this cafe and as much as I'd like to frequent it I can't bring myself to do so.Cons:When busy it's annoying as seating is cramped and they could fit so many more seats here.Don't eat at 11.30am, you won't get served - apparently because it's a changeover time, again slightly irritating as no other cafe on Lower Addiscombe Road does this.Varying quality of food - one day it can be sublime and other days can be average bordering on 'ok'.The menu is small (which is fine) but they' always seem quite rigid in mixing it up and/or special requests.Pros:Coffee is really good.Very convenient location.Feedback might sound a bit brutal but hopefully it won't be in vain as it would be good to use this place again.

Clocktower cafe, by the clocktower of the town hall. Good selection of food and drink available. Reasonable amount of seating. Pictures and photographs on the wall are a good reason for going in.
