I’m reviewing the hotel based on the price I paid (below 300 gbp) and the fact that it’s a 5* Hilton which in my view doesn’t compare with real 5* hotels at 3-4 times the price point: - the rooms are spacious for London, clean, the usual comfort, mini bar with water and Coca Cola was complimentary. - check in was seamless, front desk and entrance area personnel were impeccable friendly and professional. - the concierge Tom is an absolute treasure, friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. Thanks for managing to get my shirt steamed in house and your many pieces of advise. - location is super central to west end , covent garden, soho , Whitehall, all walkable, easy access to underground Now where does the hotel lack or where is it a 4* not a 5*: -Breakfast service is great, staff are excellent but the service is slow. That’s due to the # of staff not the staff itself. I get grumpy waiting 10min for my coffee after I enter the breakfast area the egg order (complimentary omelette or eggs Benedict, one order) took like 20-25 min taking away valuable time from my day. Replacement of an essential like toast was slow at times. Can happen but felt like staff were just overtasked - the elevators are slow - note there’s construction going on next door(for some time) and inside the hotel (ending October 2024?) , didn’t hear a thing and didn’t bother me - the elevators are slow Tldr: rooms, staff, location impeccable, close to 5* but not a real 5*, breakfast service slow due to too few staff, would definitely stay again

One of the best roof top patios in central London. Great views, amazing drinks and service.

We saw a lady, possibly from housekeeping or maintenance, wearing a pink T-shirt who didn’t greet us or acknowledge us and was just walking around the floors. I was surprised that a five-star hotel wouldn’t have a proper uniform for their staff. However, the rooftop and front office staff were wonderful and very welcoming

Unfortunately, I don't have much good to say about my third (and certainly last) stay at The Trafalgar St. James. First the good: the location. Unfortunately, compared to the last two stays, the quality (service and hardware) dropped enormously. It started when our flight to London was canceled and we arrived a day later. Just by the way: A similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago at the Double Tree Berlin Ku'damm, where we were voluntarily credited for this night during the European Championships (the hotel was completely booked) without asking and not charged - without having to ask. On the day the flight was canceled, I tried several times to reach the hotel by phone over a longer period of time, but unfortunately no one picked up. When I contacted you by email, the hotel didn't respond until the next day, and they simply told me that according to the cancellation policy, the night had to be paid for, but that I didn't have to worry, the room would still be available to me (surprise - I did too paid). When we arrived, we were initially surprised that there was a major construction site both in and around the hotel, which was in no way pointed out before our arrival (in some cases only one of the two remaining elevators was working). At check-in I was told that I had a room on the second floor. When I asked, they said I could be given an “upgrade” to the 5th floor because of my Diamond status. I informed the gentleman that I had already checked in online for the 6th floor. Then it just said that the two systems didn't communicate with each other and that I had either the 2nd or 5th floor. When I asked if there was an upgrade for Diamond Members, they initially said there was no availability. When I showed the gentleman that I could definitely book a studio online, he initially said that this was not possible; after that the hotel is not doing any upgrades to the studios. When asked if we could pay extra for the studio, the answer was yes. When I asked the price, I thought it was a joke. They then wanted an additional charge of 400 GPB per night, which was sold to me as a significantly reduced upgrade for Diamond Members. (I could have booked the studio directly in the normal booking process for around 200 GBP per night or during check-in it was offered as a stand-by upgrade for 160 GBP). I then ended the conversation. The room (I was able to find a welcome gift and card for another person with Diamond status - see photo) itself offered a view of a construction site about 5 meters away (see photo), there was mold in the bathroom (see photos) . For the first day we received information that there would be construction noise, on the second day this was not the case, but this did not stop the construction workers from working anyway. Unfortunately, a relaxing lie-in on vacation was out of the question. In summary, I would not recommend the hotel to anyone, especially for HHonors members a stay in one of the other hotels in the Hilton group (Conrad is highly recommended) makes more sense. The location is very good, but unfortunately that's the only thing. The hotel does not correspond to the 5-star standard in any way, which is ultimately what the prices are for.

I want to give a big shout out to Toby. From the time I walked in, he was very nice and accommodating, and made me feel welcomed. Tony was another person who was awesome to meet and very helpful during our stay at the hotel. Aside from the great staff, the rooms are large and the location is great. But there are a few cons… First, the construction in the building. You can hear the drilling pretty well on the first floor. Second, some of the items in the room were worn. Overall, I’d stay here again.

My wife, my 11-year-old grandson and I stayed here for 7 nights in mid-June. We picked it since they would guarantee adjoining rooms which went fine at check-in. It’s also well situated near many attractions. However, the hotel has several serious deficiencies. For one, it’s very noisy. There is major construction adjacent to the hotel that starts around 7 am. Second, there are many garbage bins right behind the hotel and we could hear bottles being dumped into these bins well into the night. The biggest problem, however, is that one of our rooms had a terrible sewer smell from the shower drain which they were never able to rectify and since we had adjoining rooms, they were not able to move us to similar adjoining rooms elsewhere. The smell was so bad that the entire room smelled. This started on the 3rd night and continued for the remaining 4 nights. It got so bad that we had them unlock the windows so we could get some fresh air. The worst part is that this is a problem they have known about for two years and never rectified. I know this because there is a TripAdvisor review from 2022 that described the exact same problem in a room on the second floor, next to the elevator which is handicapped accessible (Room 210). There are other reviews from 2022 which don’t identify the room but also describe terrible smells. My recommendation is not to take the risk that you will have this problem and stay elsewhere.

The hotel has terrible sewage problems. The room stinks so much that it brings tears to my eyes and makes me want to vomit. I had the worst experience as a Diamond Hilton member in the last 10 years.

I have stayed here 3 times. The service is absolutely top notch. The King rooms are very modern, well appointed, and laid out, even the bathrooms are lovely. Due to current construction some of the rooms have scaffolding covered windows so be sure to ask. PS the rooftop restaurant is FANTASTIC FOOD!

My recent stay at Trafalgar St. James was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with a warm welcome that set the tone for my entire stay. The front-desk check-in experience was incredible; the staff immediately offered me a refreshing bottle of water and swiftly processed my check-in. Despite arriving early and my room not being ready, the attentive representative ensured my comfort by sending me up to the rooftop bar with a complimentary drink. The room, once ready, exceeded my expectations in every way. It was impeccably appointed, offering complimentary refreshments such as water, soda, and coffee. The attention to detail continued with the turn-down service. The bathroom was a haven of cleanliness and space, meticulously maintained and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The concierge service at Trafalgar St. James truly stands out. The concierge took the time to understand my dining preferences and offered tailored restaurant recommendations, even guiding me in the right direction. The doorman was equally impressive, efficiently hailing cabs and ensuring seamless transportation throughout my stay. Dining at the rooftop bar was yet another highlight of my visit. The menu selections were excellent, and the service was top-notch. The ambiance and view added to the overall luxurious experience. The comfort of the bedding and the immaculate condition of the room made for a perfect retreat after a day of exploring the city. Every aspect of Trafalgar St. James, from its well-appointed rooms to its exceptional service, contributed to an unparalleled experience. The Trafalgar St. James offers a luxurious, well-rounded experience with incredible service, impeccable accommodations, and thoughtful touches at every turn. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a top-tier stay in the heart of the city.

The hotel has a fantastic location Close to important sites Close to the Thames River Close to Big Ben The downside is that cleaning is done every day unless you ask for it There is only one elevator and the wait is long The rooms do not have a view It only deserves five stars for the location

⚠️THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL This hotel cannot match the service amenities and comfort of a 5-Star like The Conrad, The Ritz, Brown’s, those are 5-Star hotels. This is a standard 4-star hotel. You are paying for the location. I stayed at The Conrad after this and it was like night and day. Incredible experience at the Conrad. This hotel isn’t even in the same league. THE ROOM: The room I had was nice spacious and comfortable. I got upgraded so I don’t know what a standard room is like. I also paid over £300/night THE LIFT: slowest lift ever. Only 1 was working so every time people had to line up and then pack in. I was on the 2nd floor and asked where are the stairs. They said we can’t use the stairs. lol THE LOBBY: Small, cluttered, noisey. Staff greeted you when coming in. That’s about all I can say on that. LOCATION: Wonderful location, near everything. Walking distance to everything. That’s this hotels main draw. I hope this was helpful as I think it’s pretty misleading to claim 5 star status when you are not even close. This is not to say it’s a bad hotel. It was fine location was great and the room was comfortable. But for the price you should get more. I am a frequent traveler as well.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my mom, and it turned out horrible experience. They gave us "an excellent room" with "a great view" of a back street where the construction site was. We could not sleep at all since they were making a big noises entire night. The construction elevator was going down and up non- stop until 6am in the morning. We were so tired to ask them to change the room. With the price we paid for, this is what we got. This is not a 5 star hotel. Wouldn't come back.

The Trafalgar St. James is a hotel that can be recommended with a clear conscience. The hotel has a very good location. The rooms are very nice and clean. The entire staff is professional, attentive and helpful. We were particularly pleased with the exceptionally nice welcome from Toni the Portiere who made our stay even more enjoyable. We also had a great concierge who looked after us wonderfully. We felt very comfortable and will gladly visit The Trafalgar St. James again. best regards from switzerland

Stayed here for a vacation surrounding my running in the 2024 London Marathon. Obviously, the proximity to the finish line was simply ideal, and in talking with fellow runners about my amazing experience at the hotel, I am certain that other runners will book here as well for future races. You just do not get any better in that regard…. Overall, the staff was AMAZING, the room was extremely comfortable and sizable, and it was basically just the perfect “home base” from which to explore the wonderful communities, streets, and restaurants an ideal location of the city. We are from the States (Texas specifically) so the environment was completely new to my wife and I, and the hotel staff was exceedingly friendly and welcoming in helping us familiarize ourselves with the area and answering any questions we had.

Very poor experience. The hotel is undergoing construction, and to get a quieter room away from the noise my wife was forced to pay for an "upgrade". Not for a suite. Not for a view (the room didn't have one). Just to get away from noise a pregnant diamond member was required to pay extra. Also random undisclosed add on charges to "free" breakfast? The whole point of staying with a reputable chain is to avoid these kinds of games.

As a Hilton Diamond member, I'm not satisfied with this stay. My wife and I came here for a five-day honeymoon and birthday celebration, notifying the hotel two weeks in advance and reminding them the day before. Upon arrival, we didn't get an upgrade, and the room we were given had a window with no view, blocked by a pillar. Besides a box of chocolates, there were no other amenities. Despite being assured of simple decorations before arrival, there were none. When we asked for a small birthday cake, there was no response to our email. Overall, the honeymoon trip was somewhat disappointing. Anyway, the hotel's location is good, and the rooms are generally clean.

I ended up at the The Trafalgar St. James London for a couple of nights after a flight delay/reschedule. My room was surprisingly spacious with a separate sitting area (not a suite, just a very large room), and nicely equipped. If you're a tourist wanting to be in the thick of it, the location is hard to beat, right of Trafalgar Square. My only quibble was with the desk staff who refused to acknowledge my Hilton Honors Gold status.

When in London we return time and time again to this fabulous restaurant. The food is to die for. We always invite our friends to join us, and they say the same the, it's the best they've had for a long time. The service, food, atmosphere and drinks are fantastic. Thoroughly recommend a visit. And it's in a great spot.

Last evening we went as a group friends 9 in total to the restaurant. The quality and the quantity of food was poor. When we complained to one of the member of stuff, asking to see the manager or chef, no one came to us to explain or apologise! Definitely Won't go back ever again. ☹
