One of the better meals at this traditional favorite in Mayfair. The food was well-prepared and presented nicely on this occasion.

Booked this restaurant for NYE back in early Nov and they call me today to say they are closing on the 30th Dec. WHY TAKE THE BOOKING IN THE FIRST PLACE?????

My husband and I love this restaurant and the staff. We eat here at least a few times every time we are in London.

The only feature that reminded me of China was the too hot AC in the decrepit basement private room we hired. The food and service however bore no relation to a proper Chinese banquet. We waited ages for deep fried spring rolls and squid, then duck in pancakes, chicken and cashew nuts, special fried rice and whatever. Really no different from a Cantonese takeaway. The only green was a small ‘seaweed’ garnish. All served in a horrible room by clueless waiters. Chinese banquets are often the pinnacle of fine dining, I’m shocked by the rubbish Mayfair Garden.

I stopped bye about 6PM on Sunday. The place was quiet. Within 45 minutes almost full. The food was very good, the service was as well. The ambiance is nice and clean. A bit higher end I would say. I will go back every time I am in London.

The food here has been great for years whether lunch or dinner but the wine list struggles to keep up every time. Incredible duck pancakes this time but surely deserve better than Tsing Tao beer!

Good food and service. This was a 5-10 minute walk from the JW Marriott Grovsnor House. The restaurant itself was nice, comfortable. good noise level and looked good for business, family, date. The food was very good. We shared steamed dumplings as well as special fried rice, my coworker had fried cod, another had rice noodles, and I had the seschuan chicken. The cod was a generous piece of fish with a light crust (not batter crust like fish and chips) and was very good and served with a soy type sauce. My chicken was good but I had expected it to be spicier and added hot sauce. I had a beer and a coworker had glass of red wine which was described to me as not so good- with only two red wines sold by the glass you have a better selection if you get a whole bottle. Service was good and friendly. I recommend it.

Se mudó de nuevo a HK y decidimos volver a comer aquí ya que estaba deseando un poco de dim sum. Fue y sigue siendo uno de los mejores lugares de dim sum que he visitado en Londres. Teníamos el Cheungfan de cerdo, el Cheungfan frito, el bollo de cerdo al vapor, el dim sum de camarón y 2 platos de patas de pollo (pruébalo antes de golpearlo). Estaba delicioso y muy muy delicioso! El servicio es un poco apresurado, pero estuve allí por la comida, por lo que no me molestó demasiado, pero sería bueno que lo dejen solo y termine su comida en paz en lugar de inspeccionar su plato cada 2 minutos.

Went for dinner - nice place to eat, good food, bit pricey for Chinese food. The decoration simple but nice, location very convenient, they are open till late which is good.

It's one of those things that you don't know and sometimes bias kicks in. This time for me it was 'location'. With the hustle bustle of Bond Street and Oxford Street I sometimes think that a lot of restaurants are tourist focused and easy targets.

Visited for the first time as looked nice on Web-Site - staff were very friendly and helpful food was excellent with good service - very disappointed after eating when asked for Cointreau, but did not have any, asked for port but did not have any asked for Courvoisier but did not have any asked for melon or cut fruit for dessert but did not have any asked for coffee but machine had broken down - bit of a disaster actually - need to improve and offer / provide across the board comprehensive service and not the hit and miss we encountered. Shame really as the staff are excellent and the restaurant has great potential which will never be realised unless they improved 6/10 if wanting to try this restaurant suggest phoning first to make sure they have what you want.

Always busy, always excellent. I love the crispy duck as I have to have it on each visit. Great staff and service. Food is excellent. If you like really nice Chinese, this is the place....have been at least 20 times and always great.

We ate here last night and had a fantastic meal. Food was delicious, atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. Service was a little slow as they were fully booked due to it being Chinese mid-autumn festival, but the food was well worth the wait. Would definitely eat here again!

Должна сказать, что после смены владельцев и названия этот ресторан реально стал хуже. В этот мой приход я обратила внимание на полупустой зал. И а сожалению на более высокие цены. На сегодняшний день в Лондоне можно найти рестораны китайской кухни с более приемлемой ценой и таким же качеством еды. Что касается еды, то ряд блюд вообще ушли из меню. А ряд стали менее вкусными, особенно это касается блюд с креветками. Счёт реально был большой. Не думаю что есть смысл ещё сюда приходить.

Dumplings and noodles addicted? That's the place for you. Beautiful location in the heart of Mayfair offering very good service and good value for money. You can most probably find a table even without a booking. Food is very tasty and environment is great.

I went to this restaurant for a business meeting (I met with two other people so a group of three) and it was okay. We ordered some sort of a platter but I could only get one butterfly prawn in as it was too late in the day for me to have a full meal- we started our meeting at 8:45pm. The prawn I had tasted great and the rest of the food looked good.

Invited for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere. Clean and spacious. Good ambiance. Food is good and served quickly. Good service.

I have visited other Chinese restaurants in London, but my son found this one accidentally around the corner from our hotel. What a great find! The wonton soup is the BEST I have ever had and I’m from San Francisco! The dishes were universally fine, service wonderful. Highly recommended for genuine Chinese cuisine!

We were in Selfridges and wanted to have lunch in a nearby restaurant. We found this restaurant through a TripAdvisor search and have no regrets. The dim sum we ordered was as good as any restaurant in Asian countries. The scallops we ordered, in particular, were large, fresh and tasty.

A disapponting saturday night dinner. Every other Chinese restaurant in Soho would have been better. We will never ever retourn there. Food tasteless, service rude and menu card as well as the envelope you get the check enwrapped in was dirty and crumpled.

Mi esposa y yo encontramos este restaurante cuando volvía caminando de Oxford Street hasta nuestro hotel en Mayfair. Es un gran restaurante en la esquina, con grandes ventanales a la bahía. Desde el exterior, asumí que era un restaurante muy caro. Me alcanzó en el menú y vi que no era tan caro. Rápidamente me sacó mi teléfono tripadvisor leer algunas críticas que parecían dar una buena calificación. Probamos y disfrutamos mucho. Tuve el crujiente (Pekín? Pato) y mi esposa chili langostinos con ajo. Nos sentamos en una gran mesa, viendo pasar el mundo exterior. I'm a fairly regular customer but my most recent experience, on my birthday, blew me away. The dim sum was delicious, but what really set these guys apart was the service, which couldn't have been friendlier. Top marks.

I heard so much about this restaurant so was really looking forward to eating here. On arrival the receptionist was very unfriendly and showed us to our table without even a smile on her face.

This restaurant used to be called Princess Garden but it has changed hands and the food is as good as ever. We ate a mixed Hors d'oeuvre, calamari, spring rolls, seaweed, smoked chicken. This was followed by a quarter duck with plum sauce and pancakes and we then ate prawns and asparagus, Sizzling lamb, and spare ribs and Singapore noodles. Can't fault the food but our enjoyment was spoilt by a screaming child that would not shut up. Parents should take the child out of the restaurant until it has quietened down. Restaurant says it welcomes families but it should ask parents to take screaming children out. It spoils it for everyone else.

We visited on a Tuesday evening and were greeted by the front of house who took our coats and then showed us to our table.

The restaurant is rather loud and service is not very quick. However the menu has a great variety of choices. The Berkshire maple syrup pork is excellent as is the lobster noodle. The Peking duck is more akin to Cantonese roast duck but the serving is generous in that you really get all the meat.

Revisited for dinner with a couple of guests. Food was better than average although it was shame lobster was sold out. Service was average (some were attentive, but the rest not - I had to ask a staff to pour red wine into my empty glass). Overall average.

The concierge at the Dorchester Hotel suggested us this restaurant for my birthday It is terrible! It seems to be in a parking with the emetgency exit in front your table (withe the green light) From the shop window you see a building site The atmosphere is awful and noisy Not beautiful clientele And they give you also a dirty menu! I was sit down in the middle af cold air from the entrance What a terrible birthday!

We did a last minute walk in and got a table straight away (quite surprised as it was a late Saturday). We haven't been there for 4 years so was expecting things to be different - other than some of the staff nothing had changed.

First time in Mayfair Garden and it felt cold as we walked in. Maybe they had a heating problem but no one said anything. There were little fan heaters dotted throughout, even the hand dryer in the toilets blew cold air! If you ignore that, you can settle down to a good dim sum lunch. The staff were efficient although not too friendly - a smile would have helped. The most disappointing aspect of the food was the Peking duck - I prefer to wrap my own pancake; then I can judge what I want to put in. Instead our pancakes were wrapped by a waitress and presented dripping in sauce, the pancakes themselves were too thick and the skin of the duck soggy rather than crispy.

This restaurant has some good ticket items on the menu. But it is the service that impress.

My wife and I met a friend for dinner in London, the ladies did not care for the original choice, however, I luckily spotted the MayFair out of the corner of my eye. The menu contained a nice variety of familiar and new items. Service was delightful and the food a treat.

Un Viejo que no fija mayfair ha superado la prueba del tiempo muy bien. Algunos británicos clásicos chinos, pero hay opciones mucho mejores por ahí.

I have passed this establishment many times over the years and noted after its last closure for (presumably) renovation it was still attracting clientele once it reopened.

This is my fourth time at this lovely Chinese restaurant and has been very good so far. The starters are tasteful, specially the lobster dumplings in chilly sauce. The crispy duck were nice too. The ambience is clean and you are sorrounded by big windows giving you a nice view of the street.

Every summer, we have many of our friends from Dubai spending their holidays in London so inevitably, we always enjoy a few good dinners together. One of our friends suggested that we all meet at his place and then go for dinner to this restaurant. We arrived at 8.45 pm when it was fairly busy. there were 9 of us so they seated us on a large round table. Their bar service was very good and always prompt. Food was just about ok and not really excellent.

Lovely dim sum, lots of choice and good enough service. My only negative thing was that there were bones in the cha sui chong fan, a shame because we had 2 young children with us and I'd hate to have seen them choke on the bones.The rest was of the food was very nice even though a couple of things didn't look like what we thought we ordered.

Their choice of dim sum at lunch time is impressive. All of them juicy and delicious covered with very thin wrapper. Just the way they should be. The only problem I faced was not be able to stop )))

Dim sums seem to have gotten smaller. Nice to eat but it's expensive. They do have congee but the serving also got smaller. Noodles are average. Service is better than average.

Restaurant located off Grosvenor Square with large picture windows and special Dim Sum luncheon menu. Chose 4 Dim Sum plus Ho Fun with Beef in 
noodles. However one Dim Sum forgotten by waiter and eventually served when other food consumed. Otherwise excellent service from staff who actually smiled most of the time. Cuisine of high calibre with value for money prices not easy to find in the West End of London. Diners included local neighbours, family groups and Chinese who know a good restaurant when they visit one.

In all respects, amiable service and delectable food a particular stand out being the superb sweet and sour chicken.

I was disappointed in this restaurant. With staff yawning in front of customers to very average food I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back and have had much better Chinese meals in many far cheaper restaurants. I felt it was overpriced and poor value for money.

Visited this restaurant recently due to a milestone birthday celebration. The staff were attentive and made sure that everyone was shown to their respective tables promptly. The food was tasty with good portions. However, the service was quite slow and the tables were not cleared promptly in between courses. We had to ask the waiters to clear the tables first before serving the dessert! This has therefore been reflected in the rating I have given this restaurant.

I have been a regular in this restaurant for years. It was previously known as 'Princess Garden". The food is good and the service too. In my personal opinion; the Manager, Michael Kwok, spoils everything and is the only reason I and my friends will no longer visit - and hope the new owners get rid him. Others have expressed similar sentiments.

It used to be a very nicely decorated Chinese restaurant with good food when it was under Princess Garden. I understand it is now under new management. The standard of food and service have gone downhill. The place looks so dated and neglected. I hope the new owner will do something about these.

A clean minimalist looking restaurant busy on a sunday evening with rich looking locals. The staff were pretty decent. The food was almost a total disappointment but that could be partly because I don't rate chinese food highly. The western palate for oriental cuisine does not influence my tastebuds. The vegetable noodles could have come from any standard chinese establishment. They were too salty, too dry with very few vegetables - all I could taste was salt and soy sauce.The cold plater was an utter disappointment, again too salty and otherwise a pretty tasteless selection of I-don't-know-what. The crispy duck was very nice but the sauces we were given to add to the duck turned it salty - it was OK. The dumplings were again OK but nothing to rave about. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

The former Princess Garden is well situated, and the restaurant itself is airy and pleasant. The service is efficient and professional. Unfortunately the food was not of the previous high standard, and was very disappointing. Every dish was extremely ordinary, including the crispy duck, pork and expensive dumplings. After eating there for over ten years I will not be returning.

We're from Singapore and miss dim sum tremendously. This place, opened by a Malaysian family, serves some of the best dim sum I've had out of Asia. Like most Chinese restaurants, it does get a little noisy though.

Have to admit, this is one of my most visited Chinese restaurant in London. As a Chinese myself, I have very high expectation on food quality.Mayfair Garden offers typical and one of the best Chinese food (Cantonese cuisine). The restaurant is also very clean, which is very unusual compare to Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. However, those are the only two reasons why I kept going back.Have to say, you should not expect any smile from the waiter/waitress. And expected to be treated with a “why are you coming without a reservation” look at the reception. We have been sent away twice at lunch time, with plenty empty table inside. The most unbearable thing is, the receptionist would be very happy to see you leave rather than feel sorry for not able to offer you a table. Another time the receptionist offered us a table with her body language clearly indicated that she did not want to accommodate at all.It is a decent place to have some nice food, but the service doesn’t match the price.

There were four of us older people who were looking forward to a high quality lunch in pleasant surroundings. When we were shown to a table by the window we were surround on three sides by large tables of chattering Chinese diners a good sign you might say?We decided to find somewhere slightly quieter which we did fortunately anGrappaqd settled down to discover the extensive menu. We had all we could eat, the quality and quantity were perfect. A special mention for their Grappa not what you might expect to be available in a Chinese restaurant.

However I experienced not only fantastic food but also a professional manner at this restaurant.Unfortunately firstly I had a small problem with menu. I visited with a party of 7 forgoing our usual haunt of Royal China. Nice spacious layout and very friendly and welcoming staff. Slight smell of damp in the basement (where the toilets are).Attentive staff brought tea and were very helpful as one of our party was late. Starters were of variable quality. Prawn toast excellent, salt and pepper squid very average, ribs ok, dim sum very good. The intermediate course of Duck was amongst the best I have eaten anywhere.Mains were very average and over priced. Usual Cantonese fare. Tofu and other spicy dishes lacked spice, aubergine lacked texture (it was over cooked), pork and beans didn't work at all, undercooked beans and slimy pork.Deserts were unremarkable but ok.The evening was an emotional success and the lively atmosphere contributed to this but I would be unlikely to come again.My advice is that there is much better food and value within a 15 minute radius.

I booked two tables for myself and 17 friends/family to have dim sum. The staff were so helpful from the moment I booked until we went and ate. We were asked to pre-order the food a few days beforehand as there were so many people, and they were more than happy to accommodate one of my friends who cannot eat gluten, especially as there are not many Chinese dishes that are gluten free. Our food arrived very quickly due to the pre-ordering and this was great as the restaurant was really busy. My friends were all very complimentary about the food having had dim sum at many other places before. Being in Mayfair we expected the prices to be very high but it was reasonable for the area and when compared to other Chinese restaurants we've been to. We all really enjoyed eating at Mayfair Garden and will return.

Visited for some yummy yum cha! First things first! After reading a lot of reviews about the staff being rude, cold, or indifferent, I really wasn't sure what to expect and feared the worst. I need not have worried! I am absolutely baffled by these claims because staff were lovely, efficient, and attentive. Although I have to say maybe a bit TOO attentive. I really do like to be mostly left alone but being too attentive is hardly a crime. Staff were very good and I am at a loss as to understand why so many complaints. We went for an early lunch so maybe staff later on are different? Dim sum was very good. We especially enjoyed the lobster dumplings and the sweet pumpkin ball things that were crispy from deep frying and so soft and sweet inside. It was nice to have chili sauce already on the table which is something missing from other places I have visted to enjoy dim sum. I normally have to ask for the chili sauce.

Ναι τρώω καλά αλλά με σέρβις βιαστικό σαν να βιάζονται. Μπήκαμε στις 20.00 και τελειώσαμε σε τρία τέταρτα στην κυριολεξία και με σούπες και με πρώτα και με κυρίως. Αν δεν είχε την υπέροχη πάπια του δεν θα ξαναπηγαινα και τώρα πάλι το σκέφτομαι.

This is a smart, sophisticated restaurant with excellent service. The tables are far apart so good for a business lunch. Excellent dim sums, fair prices, a little more than Chinatown but much more up market. £12 head without drinks.

I'm am quite shocked to see some negative reviews from people.i went with my family and we all thought it was fantastic, the dim sum was exceptional the service can not be questioned in any way.my two children aged 16 and 12 was looked after all the time and found the food amazing. When I seen the negative reviews it really makes you think is this genuine from somebody who really had a bad experience or is it a competitor trying to give a bad name. My overall view and experience is simply brilliant!!!!

Restaurant is very nice and plenty of room between tables. Service was very good and prompt.I was expecting something to differentiate the cuisine here from other standard Chinese restaurants and this is where I struggled as presentation and food was like most other Chinese restaurants.Worth a visit but given the size of London there's plenty of competition and many of the Chinatown restaurants offer the same food quality but certainly much cheaper

If you want authentic Cantonese cousine, Mayfair garden is the best Chinese restaurant you should visit.The dim sum is comparable to most good restaurant in Hong Kong and this is a recommendation from a Hongkonger.

It's a waste of money to visit here for the ambiance, staff courtesy, prices, and food helpings. Expect noisy staff who keep talking all the time and loudly as well. And on a New Years eve still playing Christmas carols....(ha Ha ha ).....Quality of food though is good but definitely NOT Value for money.

The plus is their taking us without a reservation at 10:30 on New Year's Eve. The new owners may have the same menu as the Zen Group had, but the food is lackluster. The elegance is badly diminished with paper napkins and tablecloths, the excuse being the holiday season. Also gone are the dessert candy, but the hefty prices remain, along with the 15% service charge.

Location speaks for itself and the restaurant is nice looking and service was good. However, the food was a big let down. I expect to pay more (a lot more and I did) because of the location, but I would also expect the food to be very good for the price. However, it was average at best. Due to the price I have rated it overall as poor.

Mayfair Garden, formerly Princess Garden one of our local favourites for exceptional quality dim sum and Chinese and undoubted service. Let's hope the new owners don't drastically change the format or radically increase prices which is a real fear due to the location/the owners history !!!

Outstanding and pricy. But if you need a your dim sum fix you won't find a better way to go. Great experience all round.

This was a very good restaurant regarding food. The chef had done a very good job. The waiters did a rather bad job. They where more interested in cashing the bill.Bad attitude.....Anyway - focus on the food and you will have a good evening!

Traditional and elegant, Mayfair Garden serves a fantastic yet manageable variety of dim sum for brunch with some twists that make the already delicious dishes stand out.The service is fast and attentive. I arrived 15 minutes before my reservation and they managed to sit me within 2 minutes of arrival. During the brunch I felt I was being waited on by 6 employees, even though the restaurant was packed.Standout dishes, the foie gras dumplings, the 1000 layer cake and the scallop dumplings.

We were a bit skeptical about having dinner in this restaurant due to the very mixed reviews on this site. Indeed, it wasn't even our concierge's first choice when asked for a Chinese restaurant in Mayfair. We were delighted with our meal, beginning with the hot mixed starters for two, continuing through to the Peking Duck (the best we've had, including Mr. Chow's), our selection of mains and even the toffee banana for dessert. Flavors were refined and delicate but still distinctive.As for service, it was professional and the suggestions offered were not only welcomed but correct. Our server thought I was over-ordering and suggested a smaller dish, a great way to ensure clients will return. And we will on our next trip.Go and be sure to order the duck. And the sole in ginger and soy. And the noodles. And awesome crispy seaweed. And spicy squid and... Just go.

I have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions and the food has always been consistently good. The staple Chinese favourites of mixed starters, crispy Peking duck, crispy shredded beef, sea bass, pork and chicken dishes are all cooked well, service is quick if not a little brusque, and wine list is fairly extensive. Not cheap, but not the highest. More business orientated clientele than romantic, and good find just off Oxford Street.

A great evening was experienced at this lovely restaurant, great decor, brilliant staff, attentive waiters/waitress, and most importantly, great food, amazing taste, we had such a lovely evening, no visit to London is complete without a visit, see you next year

We wanted to go somewhere to close to our accommodation so we set out and found this delightful restaurant just around the corner. They were very accommodating and polite and the food was really delicious! If you enjoy Chinese food then this is a must!

Overall I thought the food was great and the service was also very good. Slightly disappointed that they had no bourbon whiskey (No JD people).A great place for a relaxed, tasty meal.
