Food was good, but the last twice we visited, service could have been more attentive. We needed to wait or signal for service when staff were just chatting at the bar. Initial welcome was good though.

I have just come back from The Throckmorton for a Father's Day meal, and it was truly awful... I have been there on many occasions and has been good but not amazing. This was at 5 o'clock and I asked is the beef pink and I was told it wasn't but still nice, so I decided to have that, I wish I didn't, I had a piece of the meat and it was inedible so I left it and complained about it, NO REFUND. My wife's was not that much better with very dry lamb. My daughter in laws desert was horrible and said the chocolate mousse was very grainy. I will never return there and go down the road to The Boot for beautiful food. 0/10

Went out for fathers day. Service and staff were good and polite. Food unfortunately was sub par. Dad had the beef, which was tough, dry and tastless. I had the burger which was better, but was overloaded with feta cheese unfortunately. My fiance also had the same issue with her burger but overall it was okay. The deserts, I had the treacle sponge which tasted nice but was hard at the bottom, and the custard was okay. My fiance had the chocolate moose, which was awful, tastless and gritty. Overall, very disappointing. The bill was a lot more than we expected considering the standard of food we recieved. And the beef alone ruined the meal with my Dad on fathers day. Will not be returning.

Friendly staff, food ok and plenty of parking. I had the fish pie, I would say it was more mash with a small bit of fish, disappointing. Also shown to a dirty table so we chose to move tables.

A group of us visited today (2 June 2024), we found the staff to be quite rude, drinks were outrageously expensive, we were asked to move tables from what was a 'dining only' area to a non dining area, even though there was hardly anyone eating (I'm not surprised at their prices!). Not very friendly, not impressed, won't be returning.

Nice pub, can't complain at beer garden in summer which is lovely. But this is more directed at the breakfast and food offering, initially great but over the course of a few visits felt that some improvements needed. Sorry to say but appararance of some of the waiters needs to improve, cleanliness is an absolute must in serving/preparing food and things like hair should be tied back. Very off putting. Sadly has put us off revisiting in a hurry for breakfast/food.

Came in for a spot of breakfast. Milly/Millie served us. Her service was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Bit of a wait for food but it was definitley worth the wait. Breakfast could have done with some more beans to make it a bit less dry but all in all very nice and hats off to Milly/Millie for the great service.

Great team of staff. All very welcoming and engaging. Food was excellent and good value. We stopped for 3 nights and could have stayed for a few more without running out of things on the menu that we wanted to try. There is also a small specials menu alongside the regular one. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Stopping in February we were concerned that they may be cold, but this wasn't the case as they were plenty warm enough. The only small downside is that it is on a busy main road and the traffic noise can be heard in the front facing rooms. Overall though this didn't detract from our stay and we would fully recommend staying here.

Always a great experience. Food is extremely tasty and good value. I’d highly recommend one of the themed nights like St Patrick’s day or Burns night.

Nice hotel/pub in the centre of Henley with ample free parking. Friendly and welcoming lady at check in who showed me to my room and explained the layout of this quirky old building. Music in the bar on my first night which was free with versatile and experienced musicians. Karaoke on my second night which I passed on! Food was of middling quality and only one cask beer on offer but plenty of choice around Henley for both beer and food if you venture out. Overall a great place to stay that is near the railway station if you want to visit Stratford or Birmingham.
