The Three Tuns has clearly been taken over by new owners. I have been many times in the past and had superb food and service. I eat there last night, it was the single most horrific dining experience I have ever had. Service? A barely clothed waitress, more suitably attired for a low end gentlemen’s club was our server. Inept is the best I can think of to describe her. Clearly had no training, or supervision. The food was disgusting. Greasy, tepid and tasteless. Once famous for it mussels, we were informed the mussels were dead! So a half portion of a mini pork pie, probably from Sainsbury’s was offered in stead. The truffle and Parmesan chips were fried in oil that had probably not been changed in many days, they had no truffle or Parmesan Flavour, only ancient oil. The tempura veggies were sticky, slimy batons of veg, no batter, just deep fried and dripping in grease. The pork belly was rubbery tasteless over cooked and served with a quartered fresh apple barley cooked placed on the top of the meat. The apple appeared withered and shrivelled, all pips still intact. No flavour, just a small tasteless square of meat. Not only was it desperately bad food but it took more than an hour to get the appetizers on the table, with a further wait for the mains. It was awful, they are living on the hard earned reputation of the previous management, I shall not be back.

Fab pub. Always has been. Always will be. There was rumoured to be a hole in the wall between the front bar and the butcher's next door. The resident butcher some decades ago liked his pint so much. Steeped in history. 'The Henley Riot' took place outside this pub. Long ago too. Gone off a bit in recent months - June 2024

Wonderful old pub that really looks the deal. The barmaid on duty the afternoon we were there was lovely and polite and gave us a little history of the place. There is a separate area on the other side of the main bar for dining and there seems to be a separate private room available if you require it. n absolutely wonderful place with excellent Guinness and Brakspear Gravity.

Stayed near Henley for weekend, booked for Sunday Lunch. Visited on the Saturday for a drink, shared the bar with a group of young people enjoying a pub crawl celebration. Quite chatty, getting more noisy, but friendly banter. Next day, Sunday lunch was a totally different atmosphere. Calm peaceful dining and a full pub. Family friendly. The Sunday roast was superb, a bit more pricey than other pubs in Henley, but couldn't fault it. Left very satisfied, the bar staff were friendly and polite, Would return if in area.

Unbelievably disappointing. Been here before and loved it but massively gone down hill food wise. Everything was microwaved and bought to our table within about 2 minutes and was distinctly average. Starter plates taken away and main courses plonked on table 30 seconds later - again microwaved and not tasty. Really I wouldn’t bother unless you just want a pint.

I organised a dinner for about 20 people, for which we reserved the Boatshed behind the pub, which was really nice, with its own bar and wood burner keeping us warm. Pre-ordering all our food and settling at the end was very efficient and painless. All the food was brought out on time, and by name, so there was no confusion and the whole evening went smoothly with no hiccups or issues at all, everyone was happy with their meal and I wouldn't hesitate to book the Three Tuns Boatshed again.

We arrived to a very busy pub, fire was on and it was a good atmosphere. We had a drink in the bar then went through to our table. This wasn’t as cosy, in fact we felt cold, they had a fire but it was gas, and didn’t produce any heat. We were sat at a table near a door that ran down an alley to the toilets, which was open to the elements. I ordered the Brie for my starter, it was nice with cranberry sauce. For my main I had the beef ravioli, was very tasty. All of the meals are very small and for the price, feel you should have more for your money. My husband had the fish and chips, the fish was ok, but his chips were under cooked. The staff were friendly, could have been more attentive when it came to offering drinks, we were sat for along time with empty glasses and had to go to the bar. Will we return, probably not for food.

An absolute surprise. We were walking down the road thinking what to have for lunch. It’s Sunday so might as well have roast. From a pub that we have nevertheless eaten from before. We didn’t expect much. We ordered just standard 4 beef roast and some pints. The roast came with beautiful thick 2 piece, beautiful medium, lovely roasted potatoes, vege and cauliflower & cheese. Love the Yorkshire pudding and the horseradish was a perfect compliment. The service was so quick, I am pretty sure I have to wait for longer in McDonald’s. We ate so fast, there’s no photos. Never been so disrespected in a pub before. Spent hours in here with 6/7 friends, spent hundreds of pounds and was then asked to leave after buying a round of drinks because a party was starting in the tent outside next to our table. No warning or option to move, just thrown out the pub and threatened with police if we did not leave immediately without finishing drinks, no option with going inside because it was full. Shocking. Managers of the bar were so rude and aggressive, I have a video of the male manager trying to intimidate me with violence to leave. AVOID THIS PUB

We booked Crazy Bear Stadhampton as a treat for our wedding anniversary and were looking forward to our 2 night stay and dinner in the Thai restaurant on our anniversary day in early November. We were a bit concerned that we didn’t get a response to an email (sent prior to booking) and couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone when we tried to call prior to our arrival. This lead us to check online reviews which were mostly negative particularly for the restaurants. We had a feeling of trepidation. However, everything was excellent. We had booked a Boujee room (these I understand are just down the road from the main hotel) but were upgraded free of charge to a Decadent room. The room was fab, very spacious and had a copper bath at the bottom of the bed. We had a wet room with lovely fluffy towels and robes. The grounds and hotel were lovely, very funky and fun - would be nice to go back at a busier time in the summer. Staff were all lovely and took care of us. Our Thai dinner was really nice with good sized portions. We had a starter each, a main and a shared side dish. Just a few observations to be aware of: Drinks and food are pretty expensive with added service charges. There was only a coffee machine in the room, no tea making options. (I popped round to the garage and grabbed a couple of tea’s on the first morning) Our room (room 10) had another room above. If the occupants of that room are a bit inconsiderate and up and down a lot, it can be irritating and noisy. But over-all we had a wonderful stay and a good experience.

From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed, including our dog who was immediately given a cuddle and a bowl of water by the kind bar lady. Our host, Miles, was very attentive and provided good recommendations on the food and drinks. The three of us shared 2 huge starters, and our mains were well presented, tasty and generous. A very pleasant evening was had by all! Definitely on our list for a return visit.

Having visited and dined at The Black Horse on numerous occasions I can only surmise that the AI review is for another establishment!!! On our most recent visit we enjoyed several dishes from the menu, all excellent, a special mention must go to the oak smoked pork ribeye, truly mouthwatering. Our service from Jess was exemplary, attentive but not intrusive. She should give masterclasses. All in all a splendid lunchtime experience.
