Just back from an overnight stay with my husband. Fabulous location for 'walking/hiking'. Hotel room ok. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good parking. Lovely beer garden. Evening meal was stunning (best Peppercorn sauce ever)... good english breakfast. Several bars nearby. Close to the river. Definitely worth a visit.

We were the last people eating and were given the dregs if what was left.Cold Yorkshire pudding Luke warm veg.and very little of it. 1carrot 3sliced beans 2 pods of peas 2 teaspoons of horrible cabbage 2 teaspoons of cauliflower cheese 3 roast potatoes that you couldn’t cut 3 very small pieces of meat for the larger plate and 2 very small pieces of beef for the standard meal .no one came to see if everything was okay we were waiting for them ,but ate what we could, mine cost £17.99 for 1 carrot and 2 pieces of meat my husbands was £19.95 for a couple of mouthfuls. Outrageous taking the Micky,complained to management as stated and was given a shrug and told they would take on board what we said and to go and pay at the bar??? Which we did in full, not disappointed but livid. Hope everyone who ate early had good meals

The atmosphere was great, decor excellent and the staff helpful and informative. I had the vegetarian option and it was lovely, the meat options looked appetising.

We were fortunate enough to have some good weather in a allowing us to sit outside in their lovely garden. We had the burger and a bacon and chicken club sandwich. They did not disappoint. The staff was very accommodating and very nice. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

We were for a drive with no particular destination in mind; other than to take-in a walk in some sunshine, and maybe get a snack lunch before we returned home. We ended up visiting Usk; a place that neither of us had visited before. The town is small, parts are a bit run-down, and quite a few shops on the high street were permanently closed (and looked as though they had been-so for a while). It was lunchtime, but of the eateries that were open, there were very few that really appealed. This hotel sits at the northern end of Bridge Street (the high street) with a large carpark and a garden area with outdoor seating: and it did appeal to us. Inside it was pleasant, tidy, and the atmosphere was good. We found the bar and ordered a couple of glasses of lime and soda. My Partner decided-on a slice of carrot cake with nuts and a buttercream filling. The cake was put on a plate and passed to my Partner. I went savoury; ordering a beef and horseradish sandwich. We were then asked to chose our table, and told that the rest of our order would be brought to us. We sat and waited, but our drinks didn’t arrive so, after a while, my Partner returned to the bar and received an apology, and then we received our drinks. Shortly afterwards my sandwich arrived and I must admit my heart sank a little. The bread was the issue: it looked like it was steam-baked and that is not what I like. Still, the beef was okay, there was plenty of good and hot horseradish sauce, and the small attractive and very varied salad was excellent. The sandwich would have looked more attractive if it had been cut into four triangles and stood upright on the crust; i.e. just a bit of care with the presentation. My Partner’s cake was very good and enjoyed. We fished our good well-flavoured drinks and departed.

I really want the new owners to do well. They are investing in the place and it is looking and feeling far better. We haven't ate there for years so wanted to give it a chance but it was disappointing. I had fish and chips which looked OK but fish was pretty tasteless (probably Pollock), mushy peas was literally no more than a dessert spoonf and chips were a tad tired. Shame.

Called in to the three salmons for lunch after hearing great reviews from our friends. The menu offered a good selection and was very well priced we ordered the cheese and ham sandwich with onion jam and chips and my wife ordered the cheese and onion omelette with chips. The food was excellent especially the home made chips and the staff were fantastic especially Karen and couldn't do enough for us. Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be returning when we can

We visited the Hotel for a Saturday night meal with our friends who had previously had a lovely overnight stay. The hotel was very nice and the staff were lovely, very friendly and bubbly. On ordering our meal we ordered two Fillet Steaks and two Fish and chips. Five minutes later the waitress returned saying that there was only one Fillet Steak. For goodness sake this is a Saturday night and only one Fillet Steak available!!!. When the meals came the Triple cooked chips were soggy, the Fillet Steak was very well done, I ordered it Medium, and it looked like a flat iron steak. The meal was really awfull. I didn't complain as our friends had booked this and we didn't want them to feel awkward. However we will never return and this is a shame as the staff were lovely.

Sunday roast at the Three Salmons in Usk......Where do I start!! What a gem of a place!! The starter were well presented and the salad garnish was beautiful .....obviously prepared by a brigade who are passionate about presentation and flavor. The Sunday roast A place worth a visit! Went here for New Year’s Eve with a 6 course menu. There were only 30 of us but what a fab night. Great food and did o everyone up dancing all night. Staff were attentive. I hope this hotel will continue to do well

We visited this beautiful venue yesterday for Sunday lunch with a meeting with Santa in his grotto. It was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The staff were all so lovely, attentive and made our day feel really special. Our food was hands down delicious, what a roast! I had the beef strip loin which was the best beef I've ever had in a roast, it was tender, pink and very generous portions. Some of us had the pork loin and the turkey which was equally as delicious. The vegetables were so tasty and the potatoes and gravy 👌and we have high standards! As for Santa....he was just gorgeous with my two daughters, he made the whole visit very magical and we noticed the grotto was beautifully presented with nutcrackers, reindeer, and a gorgeous fireplace. To top it off Santa even realised my daughter's names were Italian and spoke some Italian to my Dad. He was just brilliant! We were seated in an upstairs function room especially for the santa visit which was beautiful. The restaurant downstairs looked lovely and intimate so can't wait to go back for another meal and sit there too and soak up the ambience. Thank you to Jeff, Mary and family for a wonderfully festive day.

Took the family for Sunday lunch today at the three salmons. From the time we walked in was just amazing. The staff are so friendly and make you feel really welcome. The roast dinners were beautiful and really good portion sizes too. Everything was just spot on and the kids enjoyed it too. Chef Curtis came and introduced himself which was a lovely touch. Overall excellent experience here and will definitely be returning!!

From the minute we walked in the door we were treated like royalty. All the staff are very nice from Jess at the reception to the blonde lady who showed us to our table and took our order. There were four of us around the table; we each ordered different dishes ., were so pleased with what we were served up that we gave each other a taste of ours.. The tomato soup starter with pesto and cream was something new for me. Delicious. My son has a sulphate allergy . The waiter worked between my son and the chef to make sure everything was sulphate free. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was quite busy. The buzz of satisfied diners was just lovely. We will definitely put this on our Special places list. Many thanks to all members of staff. We will definitely see you again.

Sunday Lunch - Fantastic lunch best traditional resturant Sunday lunch we have enjoyed for months. Great choice of meats - I chose the free range loin of pork - 3 thick slices of white lean pork with fantastic roast potatoes, vegetables and greens. Great value - and the availability of small plates of the main meal was great for the girls a great plus to the children’s menu. Great atmosphere and the many waiters provided a quick and friendly service. The Three Salmons under its new owners adds a welcome additional to the areas many restaurants. The Three Salmons is our top choice for a resturant Sunday Lunch

New ownership so a new try. I like roja coffee so, having gone to find a server, ordered a double shot americano hot milk on the side. Came in a bucket size cup, although I asked for a modest size cup, from a coffee dispensing machine. Very disappointing tasteless coffee. Gave up after a few sips. But here’s the crunch the bill was £6.45!! Apparently to the server double shot is charged as two coffees. Absolutely outrageous. The server was blank when I said I would never darken the salmon’s doors again. Mon Motors good luck to you in your new venture You will fail miserably if this is how you want to go forward.

Excellent meal once again, we both had steak and was both cooked beautifully. Staff very friendly and lovely to talk to, couldn’t do enough for you.

Met up with some friends for lunch and they suggested this place as they had been to a wedding there. First impressions were good as we were greeted by friendly staff in a clean and tidy bar area. So far so good. From the menu we all selected different meals and within a short space if time our good was served. Unfortunately not one of us was pleased with the quality of the offering, although we did not share our feelings as our friends had suggested the venue. So we politely ate what we could and left.

This hotel describes itself as dog friendly - but that’s not our experience - and it doesn’t seem friendly to dog owners . Because we were travelling with our dog, we were accommodated in a scruffy annexe across the road from the main building - which presumably is not up to the standard of the main hotel - with rotten wooden panelling round the bath, a totally characterless bedroom without a single picture on the wall, and a horrendously uncomfortable bed and pillows like rock. The corridor leading to the room felt grimy and not clean. The hotel bsr seemed pleasant but when we went there in search of a sandwich having arrived well after lunch, although the sandwich was perfectly acceptable and the staff very pleasant, we were asked to sit in a miserable little back room behind the cheerful main bar area, because we had our dog with us . We felt uncomfortable and disappointed. This hotel needs to make clear that if you want to stay here with your dog, they are happy to take your money but you will receive less comfortable accommodation and services. My advice is - don’t stay here. Not at all impressed.

Went to the three salmons hotel in usk for lunch, table was laid beautiful. The service from the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing! Chef Curtis came out to meet us which was nice. My husband had the tomahawk steak which was cooked to perfection, I had the fish and chips was cooked spot on and the portions were massive, enough food to feed at least 6 of you. Definitely recommend, this is the place to go you won’t be disappointed!! Definitely going back!

Went as a group to The Three Salmons thinking somewhere high brow for dinner. Boy were we wrong. Ordered the goats cheese and caramelised onion tartlet however all I received was a disc of flakey pastry and a scattering of lettuce. No goats cheese or onion on the plate !!! The steak pie, mash potatoes, cabbage and gravy consisted of grey cubes of toughened shoe leather in a crust, grey mash and inedible uber salty bistow like gravy. A friend had the fish and chips which arrived dark brown and completely over cooked bordering on cremated. We all avoided a dessert afraid of what carnage we’d receive. Seriously, how can you send out food looking and and tasting like that. The young waiting staff were lovely however, so disappointing and one to avoid.

We went for lunch under a recommendation from friends as had not been for a long while. Pleasantly surprised as new owner and inside looked fresh as decor goes. The Sunday lunch was very tasty and was well priced. Service was good and staff very friendly. Worth another trip on another day.

This is, by far, the best Sunday lunch that I have experienced while eating out and represented good value for money. Family group of six adults. We all had soup to start which came with a generous serving of warm ciabatta bread. Four of us had beef and two had turkey for the mains. Everything was really tasty and the gravy was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was really good throughout and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The only disappointment for me was dessert. We had a late booking of 2.15pm. As a result, a few of the dessert items were unavailable, including the lemon posset that I had selected. Understandable, I appreciate. I opted for trifle instead, but this was a mistake. The serving was rather large and there was too much sponge in the bottom, which had absorbed all of the jelly. Instead of the light dessert I had anticipated, it was too ‘heavy’ for me. However, the other desserts were fine and devoured by the rest of the family. In short, looking forward to visiting for Sunday lunch again!

Spent a great afternoon sat outside in the huge beer garden drinking gin for the coronation celebration. There was music and a great atmosphere all day. Staff were super friendly and helpful and Sunday lunches looked amazing, so we will be returning to dine here too! Thanks 😊

I ate here with 5 friends and there really was something for everyone on the menu. A staff member was really helpful in finding out the gluten free dishes for one of us. I had a huge portion of hake with lots of fresh veggies....

We have been here to eat a few times over the years and so thought we’d stay overnight. However, the hotel is clearly understaffed although the staff there were working hard and were very welcoming. Our room had a new bathroom and some basic redecoration...

We stayed for four nights prior to Christmas.The Three Salmons is full of character, charm with a beautiful inviting fire in the bar.A M A Z I N G staff (I can’t thank them enough), cozy room with a lovely modern bathroom and plenty of fresh towels, tea and coffee and a very powerful radiator that’s easy to control. Plenty of storage and hangers for clothes with room to open your suitcases.Breakfast was an absolute delight - even for a casual brunch with friends.Plenty of secure parking and wifi on premise.The room we had could benefit from a small mini-bar style fridge however this didn’t impact us.It’s also a great place to meet and dine with family and friends.Usk is a beautiful spot and a short drive to the surrounding towns. A small but very fully stocked CoOp style supermarket is 2 minutes walk away. Plenty of cafes / pubs / restaurants in the vicinity.For the price point, service, staff and surroundings The Three Salmons simply shines. They took complete care of us from every aspect of our stay.A very BIG THANK YOU for a wonderful four days.

We stumbled upon the Three Salmons by accident when travelling through Usk and enjoyed such a tasty and generous lunch, obviously prepared by a really good chef, that we took a detour the next day to eat there again. First appearances were of a slightly dark and not very stylish bar area, but just ignore this and enjoy a lovely meal.

We called in as we were here for a wedding a few years ago. The bar area was very busy and no seating left but we decided to stay and prop up the bar. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome which is very important. The wine was tasty and even had a mulled wine which I don’t see often served in bars. This was very festive and ticked the box.What let this place down was a lack of atmosphere and empty glasses not being picked up. We would have stayed longer but not being seated and no music (even background) left it feeling a little soulless.

Superb fish finger sandwich.Just passing through and the lady said the kitchen had closed at 3 (and it was 3.30) but if we were quick to order we could have something, well we wre lucky as the sandwich was divine!Home made fish fingers (All cod) and chunky chips!Highly reccomended!Will be going again when passing through.

Been many years since I’ve been in the salmons and nice decor the service was exceptional and very enjoyable, ordered the large Sunday roast which was really tasty but not what I call value for money ,veg was a bit sparse ,and only two slices of beef .

I’m a regular diner here and I have to say that every time we visit we are looked after fantastically well. The food is always delicious and this, coupled with great beers/wines and friendly, relaxed service is a winning combination. We love coming here and can’t wait to sample the new Autumn Menu!

Arrived at hotel, lots of parking, gardens were stunning,went to reception, nobody there, and this us when things unravelled, we were told that boiler had packed up, so paid for an ensuite and never used it, hot water was off all weekend. The room was ok, but the door to the room was loose and looked more suitable to a 1970s working mens club entrance. Bathroom was lovely, but couldnt use shower, bar area was nice, but omg it was tropical with the heat. Some of the soft furnishings were filthy. Toilet seat was broken downstairs. The staff were lovely, but it seems as if they are each doing 10 jobs, they put the rugby on a big screen and we did have a £20 reduction in the bill.

We went here for dinner on a Friday evening and loved it. I don't eat red meat - just fish and chicken, and whilst discussing menu options we were offered adaptations, swapping the red meat in a dish for chicken. I was impressed with the flexibility and customer service and even more impressed with the food. Beautifully presented and very tasty. I had the duo of 'pork' (chicken) in cider and mustard sauce. It was a generous portion and came with sauteed potatoes, but as usual no vegetables but they were available as a side order. The chairs are padded so very comfortable, the decor was nice, the music not too loud, the toilets clean, parking at the rear for customers. We were only in Usk for one night, but otherwise I would go again.

Following a closure of the M4 we set off to find a way around the problem with me in a motorhome following my partner in her car with a stressing dog. After nightmare traffic along narrow roads in town and then the countryside, finally reaching Usk after about 6 hours in the road, where the Three Salmons came to our rescue...The lovely receptionist immediately made us feel welcome...yes we have rooms, yes we have dog-friendly rooms, yes you can park your motorhome in the car-park. We'll set you up a table so you can have some food. Excellent fish & chips and a comfortable room was just what we needed after s really stressful journey...then there was the scrumptious breakfast too....but it was the freindly and helpful staff that realy made the difference - thank you so much.

Dreadful dirty room, breakfast and lunch burnt. No apology and bad attitude from staff. Food is the worst, either incorrect or badly cooked.

We called for a drink for the first time. Reception was friendly and the whole place looked clean with a warm, comfortable atmosphere. The staff were attentive and we ordered a soup. It was delicious though the soda bread wasn't a generous portion. We will choose this place to visit next time we are in Usk.

Booked afternoon tea on the off chance it was really good, nicely presented on a three tiered stand with scones and sandwiches on separate boards very friendly staff,good choice of beers if you want one ,I upgraded my tea to a gin and tonic one and seemed to get a double gin for £5,I would definitely recommend this hotel for the tea

Stayed here for a weekend. Great service and friendly staff. Needed an electrical point to plug our car in to, and they gladly obliged. Breakfast was good quality and the service was swift, helpful and efficient. Only observation was the mattress was too soft for our liking.

Great food and plenty of choice of Gin. The table service ( basically David) was excellent. The only disappointment was the owner ( assume it was the owner) who showed up and berated staff in Front of us which was very off putting, even moaning that no one was there to greet him. This showed a complete lack of professionalism and was intimidating. We would go back because the service was very good, hopefully the owner won't be there !

Popped into the Three Salmons for a meal. The young lady who welcomed us with a big smile and hello was lovely. Thursday night is Steak Night so we gavi it a try. The food was very good at a reasonable price. Could not fault the service one bit. I am sure we will visit again

Went with friends to celebrate a birthday. Phoned ahead to request brown bread sandwiches. This was not done due to communication breakdown, but a change was offered by helpful staff. Sandwich fillings rather thin and cakes were home made but a limited bland selection. Scones ok. Tea bags used were standard and better quality may be found in any coffee shop, in fact we were expecting loose tea...

Delicious food and a lovely warm and friendly service. Perfect roast beef. Lovely puddings. Very kind to my young children.

A group of 7 of us booked an evening meal here whilst on a business trip. We walked as we're staying in a nearby hotel but it does have a car park. We were given a friendly welcome and as we were waiting for 1 of our party to join us we went in to the bar. We were seated towards the rear of the restaurant and the Spanish man who served us was lovely. The food did take a while to come out but this shows its not just warmed up. We all enjoyed our meals and desserts. The prices are reasonable especially when we compared it to our hotel 10 minutes down the road. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would return.

Had a good meal here on Sunday evening in the bar area of the hotel. It was relatively busy with a few tables laid up for meals. However more people around just having a drink which made us a little uncomfortable. We heard that they had done 90 lunches in the restaurant that day and evening meals seemed a bit of an afterthought. Wouldn’t rush to book again but just ok.

Excellent Sunday lunch for 19 hungry walkers. Great food, ambience and service. Would whole heartedly recommend and we will certainly return soon.

We came for afternoon tea, and yes we did book with a TravelZoo Voucher. The venue is lovely, and the parking is excellent. The staff were also very friendly. However, we were disappointed in the afternoon tea. The sandwiches were of a very small quantity, and there were no other savouries. There were then a mini Victoria sponge and mini carrot cake, both of which were OK. The scones however were gorgeous. i always assume the idea of a voucher is to tempt you back another time, but the table next to us had afternoon tea, and their plates were laden with sandwiches, so either were regulars, or not on a voucher.

Went there on initially on business meeting ,ordered just coffee before my husband and I were planning to eat there . Coffee was so nasty and bitter ,it actually put me off eating there !

Great location right in the middle of town the traffic gets a bit busy at rush hour through the town so avoid travelling during these times, The bar area was cosy and the staff were very friendly Breakfast maybe finished a little early for people who are on holiday, but the room was clean and had everything you would normally expect. The shower was Powerful and the room was warm but not too warm. Parking was good and secure and there was a nice outside garden space.

The chips and onion rings were the best part of the meal however the batter lacked seasoning.

Had a wonderful Afternoon tea today. I have never been to the Three Salmons before so was not sure what to expect but was certainly not disappointed. Sandwiches were fresh and well presented with a varied selection of cakes and warm scones! Staff were friendly and welcoming. I was treating my friend for her birthday and will definitely visit again.

Called in on Good Friday. My wife and I got married here 2 yrs ago and had a great experience...

To be fair the ambience is really good...the waiter service was excellent...however the food is overpriced for the portions and quite bland .the menu description is flowery to what is disappointing on the plate .

Visited while passing through for a drink and found it very welcoming. The menu was plentiful although we didn’t eat. I’d definitely come again and this time eat there. The bar is nice and the log fire made it cosy.

Well! They say never go back. We did but we won’t!

Booked a party of 7 on 27th December, ambient atmosphere, attentive staff, however, 2 of the party ordered sea bass. What arrived was one piece of sea bass that was about 7cm in length and because of the thinness of the fish it was overdone. If they had insufficient sea bass they should have taken it of the menu and we would have ordered a different main. The remainder of the party were satisfied with their Fayre.

Booked for a party for Boxing Day Bruch, was really looking forward to it. Arrived slightly early and was told that is your table at the end of the bar, was not shown to the table just pointed it out. We were seated 20 minutes and not a word, we had not been before and did not know what to expect. We were then told that we could now go up for the food. There were people waiting and we waited our turn.

We stopped for lunch on a cold day and managed to get a table near the fire which was much appreciated. Very friendly staff and the whitebait and the burger were very good, tasty and very filling. Wine was reasonably priced as well. A quaint old building to spend some time in on a winters day.

We went here for a family Sunday lunch and were seated in our own private dining area with a round table, which we appreciated as it meant we could all talk to each other easily. Our orders were taken quickly but unfortunately it went downhill from there. Part of our drinks order was forgotten, half of the roast dinners were served cold and the beef was tough and full of gristle. Nobody checked on us to make sure the food was ok. The starters and desserts however were fine so perhaps we were just unlucky with the main course.

We decided to go to the Three Salmons for lunch on our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. Sea bass and fish and chips were ordered, a bit of a long wait, but food was worth the wait. Staff very willing to vary the accompaniments on the bass. The fish and chips were the best I have had. Two sizeable fillets with the chips served in a pleasing wire basket. The tartare sauce, home made, was superb. The beer, I had Glamorgan brewery, was very tasty and the temperature of the ale and continuous froth was just right. Staff were fine. No problems there. Recommended.

We had our wedding ceremony, reception and party here. We also stayed for the weekend with our guests. It was the perfect venue for us. They are experienced at holding weddings with packages that you can choose but they are then happy for you to change and personalise. The reception food was highly praised. They have a suite of function rooms allowing you flexibility but it also means you will be the only bride for the day.

Absolutely lovely food, good size portions and a great choice on the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection and payed out nice on the plate

Decided to go for a late lunch on a lovely Saturday afternoon. The 3 Salmons have a bistro menu available through the afternoon which is useful to know. My wife had the goats cheese and beetroot croquet which was more like balls than croquet and slightly over cooked but was enjoyable. I had the Welsh burger which was good. The burger was good, thick and well cooked. The cheese on it could have been a bit stronger for my taste, and the red onion was a bit squashy and watery. The bun was good but the downside were the chips. The chips were very good but I do not like them served in the ghastly wire baskets that seem to be the trend at the moment. It seems to me this is just a way to cut down on the portion size. Despite the fact that there did not seem to be many people waiting to eat we waited about 40 minutes for the meal. This was only acceptable as we were sat in the pleasant garden enjoying the sun. A good pint of butty bach and acceptable sauvignon blanc, but the prices are hotel prices and not pub prices. The staff were efficient and friendly. Will visit again.

Conveniently situated on a junction of the main road into Usk and the road to Abergavenny, the Three Salmons has ample parking and lots of space on the ground floor for restaurant and bar, as well as a patio and grassy area with tables for eating and drinking al fresco. We've been here a few times over the years, and were pleased to experience once more the friendly, unobtrusive service from its front of house team.

Like the way that the restaurant varies the menu. Only four weeks since our last stay but the mune changed quite considerably.

This is the second time that we visited the Three Salmons as a large group of ten. We were so impressed with the way they dealt with such a large, vocal group the last time, that we came again! We are a group of ladies (!) varying from eight to twelve members that visit different venues every month ( what else is a girl to do?) and love to be able to recommend our choices to others. We have no hesitation in recommending The Three Salmons. The food was excellent, well presented and plentiful, with any queries about specific dietary needs handled quickly with advice from the chef. The staff were patient and good humoured, the service efficient and discreet and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly.

Amongst the more upmarket venues in Usk and popular for family meals and events. Food is good and they take pride in their service. Rooms available as well as ample parking. Look out for their themed Christmas nights.

We found The Three Salmons at Usk at last -minute booking as their price was the most reasonable.

Ate in the bar... delicious light menu offering Jacket potatoes, paninis or omelettes- all with a choice of fillings. Food was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. Well recommended.

What a lovely venue, greeted with a lovely warm welcome. The starter (salmon) was out of This world, and the beef was perfect, top marks for this place will be visiting again.

Had afternoon tea on our last day in Usk. The “banana kiss” meringue dessert was a unique treat. Sandwiches were tasty. There was enough food for us to take back to our hotel for a snack later.
