Loved the food and the atmosphere.

Fabulous Sunday lunch on a lovely sunny afternoon… food excellent quality with good portions, Guinness lovely and cask ales good also.

Brilliant afternoon with our extended family thanks to the team at The Three Compasses. Thank you especially to Sinead who was the most fantastic host throughout. Please do visit this absolute gem of a pub in Aldenham.

Great part held for my 2 year old granddaughter, parking was tight considering the amount of people. The staff were great especially the lady who hosted the party, I am sorry I can’t remember her name, but she was very friendly and helpful and looked after everyone. The space made available to us was cosy and easy to access the bar and loos. The food was really good and kept on coming over a few hours, altogether a great afternoon.

We have visited The Three Compasses for a dinner with my family and had lovely overpriced burgers and soft drinks but unfortunately straight away we all has had food poisoning symptoms when went back home! Very disappointed with the overrated and overpriced food and unlucky incident of food poisoning!

Lovely pub, great food, friendly staff and owners. Had several starters, breakfast and most importantly the wonderful pie which is home-made, full of great ingredients and full of flavour. I travel an hour for this pie and it never disappoints!

Beautiful pub restaurant. First class service and food. Something for everyone on the menu and the tiny doughnuts filled with nutella and ice cream, was the finishing touch to our Fantastic meal. Definitely a 5 star, worth a visit.

Fantastic hospitality, food and drink! 10/10 I Booked the outdoor area for my birthday and on the day the rain was terrible. Sinead couldn’t do enough for our party, she organised an area for us indoors instead, bad name cards for each guest, constantly checked up on us and made sure we were happy etc. Also thanks to Joey he really looked after us all night and made great cocktails! Thanks again

Lovely food and good, friendly service.

Great traditional pub in a beautiful village location. Very well run with a excellent menu (superb food) and choice of beers and lagers. There are a couple of points though - firstly, and most importantly, the last time I went I sat outside with a friend and the music pumped through speakers outside was far too loud. My friend and I found it difficult to talk and I noticed others were talking louder so they could be heard. This isn't a centre of town pub that caters mainly for young people...it's a country pub, where one expects the atmosphere to be quiet and relaxed! Also, the choice of low or alcohol free drinks was very limited, but then that is still the case with many pubs (though it doesn't need to be).

Went for brunch with a friend I had beautiful creamy scrambled eggs with smoked Salmon. We all enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. Will go back as soon as We are able.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had a Sunday roast and a 3 course meal. I had the nut roast, it was so tasty, it's nice to see pubs make an effort for veggies too. The presentation of food is great too. Lovely service, atmosphere and location too. Look forward to coming back soon.

I stumbled upon the pub in the way home and what a find! They had really welcoming and accommodating staff. We had the broccoli soup with sourdough, a beef roast with a side of pigs in blankets and a steak and ale pie. Every plate was delicious and it was a great example of British food done right. The portions were also very generous. I would come back here again and I would highly recommend this place.

What an incredible discovery. I heard it was fab but their Sunday roast was divine. Great portion size and super value for money. I loved every moment. Parking is a little tight outside but there is a lot around the area. Staff were epic and so so friendly. Will definitely be back !

Excellent Sunday roast. Sinead managed to sort us out somewhere inside with the dog. Got starter and main had no room for dessert. Definitely be back again hopefully next time be able for dessert. :)

Amazing gastro pub with great menu and at reasonable prices. We go there for either brunch, evening dinner or vegetarian Sunday roast. Tucked away in a small village near Elstree. Really popular so booking recommended

Came yesterday for my dear friend's wake, such a lovely place in a beautiful location. We were welcomed as we came in and shown where to put our flowers. The area designated for us was perfect, beautiful conservatory with plenty of seating. The staff were so friendly and helpful, went above and beyond. The food was absolutely delicious, catering for (Coeliac) gluten free to an extremely high standard. Sinead took the time to explain what I could eat and most of it was gluten free 😊 Well done all of you, you deserve more than 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing village pub, good atmosphere and good service.

My elderly parents visit this wonderful pub every Saturday lunchtime for a meal. It is the highlight of their week!! All the staff make a fuss of them and the food is just divine - it beats the Grove Watford, hands down. I often join them and I have eaten nearly everything on the menu and then you have the 'specials' My favourite is roasted fillet of seabass, absolutely delicious, followed by homemade tiramisu - the best I have ever tasted. 1st course not good, very oily. Beef beautiful, rest of dinner average, very hard parsnip.

AVOID!!! Served a raw chicken burger and they still charged us for it! They did offer a replacement but it was too late, I had eaten half of the raw chicken burger feeling sick!! Do not go here!!

Great pub but some people should eat at home Google Translation This is our favourite spot and family and friends always enjoy dining here. However, on Sunday evening we were there for dinner with friends and a table near ours really spoilt our evening. The whole evening they were sending back their food and complaining. They were extremely rude, arrogant and aggressive. The staff, who is always friendly and polite, were trying their best to accomodate them but all of them were really very loud and aggressive creating a really bad atmosphere in the pub. We have always eaten very well there but these people complained just about all the food. It was really awful and extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable. We booked in for our first visit this evening Sat 10/02/24. We (x4+child) could only score our whole experience from start to finish as a 10/10. Service, food, flavours, time, attention, atmosphere, all absolutely superb. Already looking forward to our next visit and thinking which friends to bring along.

We were kept waiting at least an hour for starter, one friend ordered a meat pie and when all our mains arrived they said there was no pie left. Why wait till we were all being served. They should have told him when he ordered. He therefore had to wait while the rest of us were eating. Food was not very good and the waiter could really care less. Not good. The 6 of us Won’t be going back

Had beef Sunday roast. The beef was tasteless and leather that kept wallowing. The yorkshire pudding was not fresh and rubbery. The staff were happy to change it and ordered pie of the day which was delicious (chicken). Thank you. The calamari was tad chewy but edible. The truffle chips were different to what we had in the past. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious.

I had an amazing time here, the food portions are generous, the quality and presentation are incredible! My only issue was that the drinks took some time to come, but otherwise had a really great time and the service, and all the staff were really lovely!

We had a fab NYE lunch here, sat next to the fire & nestled in amongst the lovely Christmas decorations. The service was perfect, even when we had a minor issue with one of the dishes. They handled it with zero fuss. Really love this place! They do so much to get service right. Thank you!

Popped in as another pub was fully booked. Didn't even know it existed, won't be my last time back. We had sandwiches off the lunch menu with chips. Hand on heart never had a sandwich like it, was amazing. Staff so nice, so attentive but not ott. Can't wait to try dinner!

Asked for a meal to be created for me by merging 2 starters and they were very accommodating . Very friendly service on a busy night.

I feel like when I walked ouinto this pub I was coming into Sinead the managers home that’s how well she looked after us. We came in cold and she brought us hot drinks straight away - and even before our meal some mini soups she really cared for us and wanted us to feel more comfortable. She was so so professional kind and the service was honestly outstanding. The food was lovely everything came quickly and we honestly had a lovely time. Thank you so much Sinead for being a genuinely amazing host!

Visiting from America with one night in Watford. Everything was wonderful! Food over the top delicious, hostess was so amazing and helpful, a real joy! Met the owner who was also so very lovely and gracious.

Busy lively pub considering its difficult to find

Exceptional combination of good food, good value, great atmosphere and the most wonderful staff I've done across. If you're staying locally at the Hilton, you must take the 15 minute stroll here, and feel thoroughly pleased with your life choices for it.

I was disappointed with the menu, it appears a shadow of what it used to be. I had Chicken Milanese which was fine but dull and there was nothing else that really appealed. Also it took an awful long time for the food to arrive - Staff shortages? It is a pity, I used to like the place...

Rated 4 coz me and my husband are vegan actually vegetarian without egg and fish and there was only 1 option (veggie burger other than salad) for vegans. But ambience and staff is super awesome. Loved the whole vibe.

Popped in for lunch, we had a reservation and I would recommend booking ahead. The place was very busy. Service was prompt, food was fresh and delicious. High end restaurant quality for sure. We ordered off the set as well as specials of the day menu.

Since we found this hidden gem, it has become our local go to pub/restaurant. The food is outstanding honestly I am always so picky when it comes to pubs. Every item chosen has been delicious! It is quite highly priced but so worth it! Better than the local restaurants!

I was here recently for a funeral wake. Between the staff and the freshly made food for our gathering I can't fault it. A really pleasant and relaxed atmosphere here. They are very thoughtful and attentive too. If you're looking for a good proper English pub and above average food. This is the place to go. Plus the location is countryside picturesque. We will all be going back as soon as we can. Thanks for looking after us all.

Waitress friendly, table and general areas seemed clean. Toilets also clean, plenty of soap, and loo paper. The car park was full when we arrived at 1pm, I know, a popular time! But not sure how that can be extended. I would advise anyone to book your table in advance.

Booked a table as even though a mid week lunch, we knew it would be busy and glad we did. Food, as usual, was great and matched by the staff.

Brilliant pub & restaurant, local to Radlett and Watford. This cute pub is located down the lanes from the Round Bush area. I had been here many years ago and the ambience and friendliness was still there but even better. It has a traditional pub feel but excellent restaurant quality food. My Partner had the Fish & Chips, he's from New Zealand and he said that the fish and chips were the best he'd tasted since he'd been in the UK! I had the bangers and mash, which were delicious. We shared a crumble for desert and that too was superb. The staff were very friendly, even recommending similar wines to that which we'd chosen, so we could try that next time we came in, which of course we will be doing! Dog friendly in the snug (book accordingly) and plenty of covered outdoor tables, for taking the dog (or kids) in the summer. Plenty of parking, good car park. Just a footnote, there are two pubs very close together in the same area starting with "The Three.....", there's this one and there's The Three Horseshoes. Both very good, but just be mindful that you're booking and turning up at the right one Lol!

Sunday roast beef, sensible portion size, good portion of pigs in blankets as a side, generally I lovely place/building, the roast beef was cooked perfectly and they accepted requests for how rare you wanted your cut, the trimmings were all spot on, flavoursome veg, crunchy roast potatoes and a flavoursome gravy. I’ll be back for more
