Nice food, lost one star for adding a service charge, nice staff.

Incredbile Thai resturant in Borehamwood, the Staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic , wonderful flavours , so enjoyable. The best of all that it was my birthday celebration and they brought a cake over that my friends had purchased and one of them sang Happy Birthday in a very special way it was totally entertaining , he added his own speech to it . It was something for sure we will never forget, it defintely made our evening. We look forward to enjoying some the food there again.

Amazing food and service, the atmosphere is great and the staff make you feel very welcome. The food is outstanding especially the Thai Green Curry which was delicious. Highly recommend trying here if you haven't already and if you have then I'm sure you know why we loved it

I wish I could give two reviews: one for the food (five stars) and one for the staff (also five stars!) So first, the food: I've just had a fresh papaya salad and sweetcorn cakes, my friend had a curry with coconut rice, and we finished with mint tea. Everything was fresh and tasty. The homemade desserts sounded good but I had a big lunch already today and couldn't eat any more! This place serves the classics we love, and does them justice. Serving sizes are relatively small and better for it so you can order more dishes, I find it hard to only order one item on an interesting menu and I don't like stuffing myself, so that was a real plus. I'll be bringing more people here. Second the staff: we were served by two people and both were friendly and fast, food was ready within minutes and - well, the real reason I want to write this is that I'm a wheelchair user and I looked at the restaurant on Google street view and thought I could handle the small step into the restaurant. I was very, very wrong. The step to get in is massive - at least from where I'm sitting - I'd have tipped over backwards trying to get my front wheels high enough to get in, but in a flash the waiter was outside lifting my chair to help me in, then the waitress removed a chair with minimum fuss so I could get to the table. When we left, the waiter was already waiting to help me by the time we got to the door, and he even came out to offer a hand when he noticed I was taking a while to get into my car (I didn't need help, but I appreciated the offer). The staff weren't just offering good service as part of their job, they both really cared about making things as smooth for me as they could, and that gets a giant thumbs up from me.

Absolutely terrible. The portion is so tiny, it didn’t even fill half of the container.

Visited again recently. This is one of my local favourites however the experience was soured on this occasion. Took advantage of their 20% cash payment discount. When splitting the bill with a friend, the waiter took £40 from my friend and £20 from myself on a £42.xx bill and only returned £7.xx change. When I challenged him on this he insisted he was 100% correct. I again reiterated the amounts we gave him and stubbornly told us we were both mistaken. Not sure if I'll be going here again any time soon. For those of you thst do be EXTRA careful to count your notes if you're paying in cash as they seem unwilling to rectify mistakes.

Favourite Thai restaurant, in a surprisingly ordinary place like Borehamwood

Absolutely fantastic service & food. We had the vegetarian set meal. This was a selection of veggie starters, followed by 4 main meals & rice. Everything we had was delicious - pad Thai, Thai green curry, stir fried tofu with ginger & spring onions and stir fried mushrooms. The rose wine was great too. Very busy, good atmosphere. Can’t fault it!

Lovely decor, food was just ok, lacked flavour, pad thai was too sweet, som tum didn't have much punch of the salty, sweet and sour combo, just bland. Staff were not very friendly but the service was fine, we would have felt more welcome with a bit of smile....

A great find, Tay Tar sets an impressive bar for Thai dining in the UK. The welcome is warm, the staff speak excellent English, and expectations are met with flair and skill. Thai cuisine is always an exercise in harmonising many different flavours and textures. The restaurant is cosy and stylishly decorated. Enjoy.

Absolutely disappointed ordered Vegetarian Pad Thai, was given Chicken Pad Thai, called to complain and was rudely cut off

The food was well presented and delicious. Service was highly attentive (we ate dinner here on a Tuesday evening). Highly recommend ordering the Pad Thai. They were happy to accommodate my request to add Tofu to my vegetable pad thai.

Best Thai I ever had! Food was just pure quality! Had three course meal and staff were all so lovely! I only think rice portions should be a bit bigger but oh well.

A night out with friends made all the more enjoyable with friendly, polite staff and excellent food. Different meals were served all at once and we all enjoyed delicious meals The presentation was also amazing. I have an allergy and to see full declaration of contents for all items on the menu is a big positive. We have been before and will go again. Highly recommended.

What an absolute awful Restaurant. My friend called to book dinner for two and my young baby. She told the lady that we were bringing a buggy. When we arrived, I could see the lady half-heartedly opened the front door for me and was worried that my buggy would be in the way. She then proceeded to put me by the door which is not suitable for obvious reasons. She then wanted to put me by the toilets, again I told her it wouldn’t be suitable. I suggested another area which I could put the buggy by the side of the wall, but she wasn’t happy with that. She then started to talk in her language to her colleague and again in no way shape of form did you try to accommodate me with the buggy. This is not a child friendly restaurant. She has no idea about mothers and babies and no idea what it takes to come out in the evening with your baby and celebrate. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant very discriminatory against against parents, and their babies. We are allowed to go out and have dinner without feeling discriminated against awful lady.

Starting with a warm fridnyl welcome we were seated in a cosy and appealing setting. Service was exceptional. Food fantastic. Singha beer extremely cold. The food came quickly in large proportions and was very reasonably priced.

Felt very neglected. The gentleman thought we did him a favour booking a table and giving business. No smile or felt welcome. The ladies working are very friendly. We’re a large group. Had to ask 5-6 times for anything be it glass of water or additional sauce. For the price, have had better experience, service and food elsewhere and were felt welcome.

Fantastic food and extremely attentive and friendly staff even when the place is rammed. The vegetarian menu is almost as extensive as the meat menu. Booking is strongly recommended as space is not great.

What a hidden gem! I always go here for a Thai green curry. It’s the best Thai green I’ve ever had and can’t even count how many times I’ve been here for a Thai green curry! And they also offer it as the vegan option. Service is great. Atmosphere is nice and quiet. Very nice ambience not one bad thing about the place. Initial the veg options might not seem much but there’s enough to choose from though not pages to pick from. Also the staff are super nice and welcoming. Always make me feel welcome whenever I go!

Excellent. Do go there. Food was very good. We had their menu A and it was copious, tasty, varied and despite the fact that we were full, we went on to finish it all. Will definitely go there again. Highly recommended.

It looks non descript from the outside, service may be slow but the food is as authentic as it gets. 😋 You need to book as it gets very busy. A little noisey but just go with the flow. Chang beer, soft shell crab and freshly made green papaya salad and real sticky rice were the standouts on this visit.

Food was good . Pretty good vegetarian options overall . Atmosphere was very nice. Service was very poor. The person who took orders kinda spoiled the entire mood , didn’t try to understand what we wanted and was very rude . That’s why the 2 stars .

Just visited this restaurant. The food was good, but just be aware that there is no mention of prawn crackers on menu, but when you place the order at the end they ask you if you would like prawn crackers but no price mentioned which we assumed was complimentary which normally is at Chinese and Thai restaurant, but obviously that was not the case and got charged for them. Also when the bill came we were charged on the bill service charge which was not mentioned onywhere and before I could dispute it the waiter tapped the card on the pdq machine without showing the final amount and refused to take it off the bill saying that the transaction cannot be refunded as it has gone through. Please bare in mind the price of the bill before paying. He was very abrupt and rude.

Very busy on a Saturday night. Most tables full. Good selection of dishes on the menu. Not enough staff so spent time trying to attract attention Food was very tasty. Mixed veg staters good, Portions for starters were quite small and mains reasonable size, not too large Deserts were quite small though. Pancakes were ok, friends had the fried banana and they looked much better.

Had been meaning to try this restaurant for a while. Went to collect my order, whilst waiting i noticed the decor was very nice and modern. Nice quiet atmosphere, would be lovely for a date night. The order only took 15 mins to prepare which was great. We had the mixed starter which was lovely, the chicken stir fry and massaman curry. My partner and I did think the dishes were on the sweet side but overall they were nice. Ordered two rices however only one rice is needed for two people.

Not a good service at all and the food is not good as well ! Whatever you ask you don't get it,they just do whatever they want to without care of what you asking and want... Also the way the pack the food its also beyond any normal minimum standards... Avoid at all cost !!!

I've never eaten in a Thai restaurant before and I went for the Green Curry for a main, and I have to say, it was one of the best dishes I have EVER tasted. The staff were warm and friendly and the restaurant itself was very clean withn an inviting atmosphere. I'm already looking forward to a return visit.

Thought I'd pop in for a quick bite to eat, as I had heard that the food here was really good. I can happily say that the food here is not just good, it is delicious. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and the waitress named Tum (Dhom) was polite, attentive and deserves all the praise that she gets, as she made my lunch meal a very enjoyable one. I ordered the Thai green curry which was aromatic, had tender chicken pieces swimming in a heavenly sauce and dim sum for starters. These came well presented and were juicy, succulent and literally melted in my mouth. Will I come back, definitely yes Will I tell my friends and family about this place, in a heartbeat I look forward to my next visit and implore that if you are in or around Borehamwood, then pop into Tay Tar Thai for some truly amazing food, and set in a warm and friendly and welcoming atmosphere. ยอดเยี่ยมอย่างแน่นอน xx

Food was deliciousl! A bit on the pricey side, but having been here a few times I am more than likely to come again! I would recommend the set menu to get a good idea of the different dishes offered if you struggle to decide on ordering.

All the classic dish in this restaurant is a treat. Been here around a year apart each time and it never disappoints. Thai Green Curry, King Prawn Pad Thai and Tom Yam Kung is a must try.

First time trying this place and it was lovely. The salt and pepper squid was delicious, prawn tempura divine (albeit portion on the slightly smaller side). For main course I had a chicken pad Thai and it was very flavoursome. My partner had the beef Kao pad and ordered another to takeaway he enjoyed the first so much. We will be returning for sure.

Food is nice. Prices are a little expensive and waiters slightly slow. Only really bad part was the drink prices - I got a soft drink and they served it in a very thin glass (about half a 330ml can's worth in there) for over £3 - felt quite stingy on their part.

We loved every bit of it! The food was amazing; a great range to choose from. We especially enjoyed the Goong Chu Chi (chef's special) with coconut rice, YUM! We were stuffed by the end of the main course, but couldn't resist the temptation for desserts. Ordered Thai Pancake and the in-season special, Mango and Sticky Rice and devoured both! On top of that, the service was top teir, very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return!

The prawn crackers must be very crispy as with each bite, the woman on a neighbouring table munched into them, my human mummy jumped at the feeling of her ear drums being ripped out! Other than that, she found the restaurant rather quiet. We shared number 47 on the menu, Gaeng Massaman a mild Thai curry cooked with potatoes and peanuts in a rich coconut curry sauce. Mild with enough poke to be interesting. Soft potato cubes and smooth tofu in a silky yellow subtly spiced, coconut sauce. A couple of lovely young men on a nearby table recognised me and took a photo of me. And I had a few words with a group of people at a table in the window. Hello to you all if you read this! The staff is unintrusive; I am a teddy bear that so hates intrusive waiter! It’s not the best Thai I have had but it is hard to beat the best. If in Borehamwood, and looking for a quite dining experience, this may well suit you.

Quite expensive. Small portions for main courses. No highchairs. Customer service is a hit or miss. I had better pad thai at other places. The best things about them are food presentation and fast service. Wouldn’t be a regular here.

Very nice food and friendly staff. A bit long waiting time but the restaurant was full on Tuesday evening so it says a lot about its popularity too. We took Tay Tar Thai Platter (For 2) for a starter and the portion was nice for two but we feel like it should cost less. For main we went for a set menu; - Roasted Duck Curry - the best 9/10 - Stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts and dried chilies - correct 8/10 - Lamb sautéed with vegetables in garlic & black pepper sauce - I hate lamb as it always stinks for me and I can't even swallow it. It was the first time I was able to try it and I really liked it! - 9/10 - Pad Thai noodle with prawns (N) - for the first time I have had noodle like that; mouthwatering, not dry or too oily - 9/10 - Steamed Rice - too small portion for 2 adults - 5/10 I am very happy about the whole visit, we will visit again.

It was the first time and ordered a takeaway with a many Thai dishes and was enjoyable and I even got a big discount by paying cash, so it was great value.

what a horrible horrible meal...firstly the so called Tempura Vegetables were in fact breaded veg...disgusting...the curry had little flavour to it at all...totally bland...could do better myself..if this was in a restaurant i would have sent the lot back and walked out...so therefore i am looking for a full refund on that pile of rubbish....

Superb food. Spice levels definitely toned down for British tastes, but delicious chili oil with dried shrimp is available to add some authentic heat. Lovely staff make you feel so welcome ... true Thai hospitality. Eat here!

When the food arrived it was cold so had to refuse it at the door. I phoned the restaurant to complain they told me it would be another 35 minutes. In the end I picked it up myself. Food was excellent however delivery was abysmal..

Had our first dinner here after restaurants reopened and it did not disappoint! Just great quality food and the ribs were melting off the bone! Service was friendly and helpful! Will definitely be coming back soon.
