Was here a few years ago and food was decent although some of the clientele were a bit loud and leery (we were there to watch a match so expected). Fast forward 2 years and it’s sadly gone downhill. Food mediocre and service poor. We may have caught it on a bad day but with other places to try it may be another few years before we try it again. Shame!

Went for lunch with my family , including granddaughter, what fantastic food , lunch menu to suit everyone , the curry was delicious , the burger was perfect and home made and cooked to perfection… chicken burger delicious. Staff and owner , as always attentive and friendly, you cannot fault this place !

The beer was ok, the service average but the food was not great at all. We had fish and chips and the fish was dry and the chips were undercooked. The pub itself is very clean and tidy but a bit sterile. Won't visit again.

Great little spot friendly and cozy,great pint of Guinness.Just dropped in will be back. Spurs pub if that makes a difference, football food and good beer, it's all I want.

Paid a short visit to Buckhurst Hill for a little bit of exploring. Seems a nice enough town but the highlight for me was the quick call in at The Three Colts. There was a very warm welcome from Natalie and Delboy behind the bar and a nice greeting from local people. Whilst I didn’t have food I savoured a well kept pint of Madri lager. I did have chance to look at the menu which seemed to show a reasonable selection of food at pretty good prices. If I am in the area again I’ll definitely call in.

Just a terrible experience. Never again, food inedible, drinks overpriced. Strange smell inside, no idea what it was.

I’ve seen some controversy on social media with malicious reviews being left here so instead of jumping to conclusions I decided to check it out for myself when recently in the area. I had the pie and mash and my partner a burger and our friend the spaghetti bolognaise. The food was exceptional value, the staff were very friendly whilst also serving quickly and keeping the place clean and tidy. It isn’t the cheapest pub food but it was quality pub food which I don’t think anyone minds paying for. What struck me most was the lovely atmosphere. Vibrant with plenty going on but somewhere you would also enjoy taking your children to. Lovely outdoor area. I have no idea how some of these reviews have been left - I can only assume it is infact spite. Honestly couldn’t recommend it enough and will be making an effort to return when next in the area.

Friendly and welcoming pub with a lovely garden. Enjoyed drinks in the sunshine and look forward to returning.

Visited this pub at the weekend with my family, after it was recommended by a friend, I have to say it lived up to the hype, lovely place, great atmosphere, as soon as you walk in you feel so welcome, the staff were attentive and friendly, we all ordered food and it was absolutely fantastic, we had an absolutely brilliant night and they even had the award winning GBNews on the TV, to make us feel at home, we all had an amazing night and will be back soon to do it all again!!!

Surprisingly busy, given the absolutely awful service, and the state of the food and drink. The beer was flat and lifeless, something I had been warned about by local friends, but I was surprised by how badly kept it was. The food was at best mediocre - the owner clearly has different ideas about what good food is. This felt more like 1980s fare. The atmosphere was terrible, staff were unhelpful a d borderline rude. Avoid at all costs.

Came here while visiting family in the area. Lovely pub, great food and the staff were spot on. Wonderful outdoor eating area, perfect for a lovely summer day with some cold drinks. Keep doing what you're doing 10 out of 10! Ps husband totally enjoyed the pint of lager he had, coming from up north it's unusual to get a great pint in the south.

A truly fantastic pub. Probably the best in the country. I took the family at the weekend and enjoyed a quality catch-up with some of my mates from Britain First over a few beers, while the wife and kids enjoyed the selection of delicious roasts, Great food and great value, but the real star is the guy who runs the place, who is one of the friendliest and most courteous people you are ever likely to meet. I cannot recommend the Three Colts highly enough. Simply the best!

Very sad that people can't write a review on this pub without being slandered. The atmosphere was toxic and the beer was flat, I can assure everyone this is a fact. Go try it for yourself, you won't be back after your first visit.

We went to this lovely pub after hearing about the owner was a bit of a card! Although we didnt get to meet him ( he does TV too) his staff were lovely and friendly.

Food was cold & bland. Waited ages and the pub wasn't even that busy. Tried to complain to the owner and he was rude arrogant & belligerent. Stay well clear of this establishment.

What A Fabulous Sunday Lunch. Met with friends and had one of the best days in a pub for years. Great atmosphere, friendly service and everything you want from a pub, extensive selection of beers, wines and spirits and cracking food. Highly recommend.

The Three Colts is a great pub with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. It is great for Sunday lunch with the family, or a Saturday night drink with the boys. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Stopped whilst on a business trip. I don’t usually use pubs as don’t actually drink but it looked nice and clean from the outside.Food was brilliant fish was very well cooked and fresh vegetables as if just picked. Good local with great food. Have visited many times. Has a little area for young children, friendly staff and good food. A good Essex pub next to Knighton Wood which has a small forest park and a lovely wooded area for a short walk. Hope they survive this present troubles as they deserve it.

The reviews for this pub were good so we thought we'd give it a try after going out to dinner at a local restaurant. We were a group of 4 & arrived about 9pm on a friday evening. The pub looked cosy & welcoming from the outside so in we went. It was fairly busy but not too crowded. On the second round of drinks my glass was cracked so my husband asked for it to be changed. The barperson did change the glass but then spent the next 5minutes staring at our table which we thought very strange...we hadn't been rude or complained noisily etc just asked for the cracked glass to be changed. We were made to feel the outsiders & wouldn't choose to go back in a hurry. Not welcoming. Disappointed. Perhaps we picked a bad night....

Amazing atmosphere, amazing food and amazing staff ! Myself, my wife and two kids (under 10) were accommodated at short notice for Sunday Dinner.Food was top drawer, kids loved theirs as well !Going back for an early Dinner on New Years Eve. Highly recommend

Just tried to book the whole restaurant for a wake in January. First, we were told we'd be called back, then after a week I called again. She said she had no knowledge of our previous call, then said they only would do a wake if it was for someone who used the pub. I said I didn't know but he was a local man. She said no, that we would have to pay for the whole restaurant so it would come to around £450 to hire it out and suggested I try a social club down the road as they would only do it if they knew the man. Clearly wasn't interested and was rude to be honest. It's a shame she didn't listen to me when I said we would be happy to pay full costs, but she was too busy turning me down. Their loss. It's a shame because it looked like a nice place.

Had our early Company christmas meal last night. Delicious food, served promptly & hot! (unlike some restaurants). Friendly staff, and excellent service. Will recommend to all my family who also live in and around Essex.

I travelled from Newcastle to visit family, and popped into this delightful bar (recommended by friends). I wasn't disappointed. Nice staff, lovely decor and a delicious Sunday lunch. It's a bit far from Newcastle, but I'll definitely go back when next visiting :) Well done

After a long day of travelling we stopped at the Three colts and were very pleased with the service and grateful for the lovely meals. This is a friendly, family pub and I highly recommend it.

Props to the owner. I’m not sure if it’s a family business, but it certainly feels that way. Excellent service and lunch was delicious. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to returning on January 31st to celebrate a special occasion.
