The chicken burger was ok, the batter on part of the chicken was not there, so it wasn’t crispy. However the fries were good and crispy. The food also arrived quickly.

The simplest thing ZSL could do to make London Zoo more attractive is upgrade the catering from this miserable Benugo outfit. The food is overpriced and underwhelming

Absolutely fantastic experience! The ambiance was warm and inviting, the service was prompt and friendly, and every dish was very good. The ingredients were fresh, and each plate was beautifully presented. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to visiting the zoo.

We had a fantastic family day out at London Zoo. At the end of our visit, we had to stop at a this restaurant as there weren’t many other food and drink restaurent options. We were shocked by the food and drink prices 😮 I understand that London is generally more expensive than other places in the UK, but this restaurant charged 4-5 times more. If they had reasonable prices, we would consider visiting again, but I do not recommend this restaurant due to the extremely high costs.

The queue for food was slow, the price was outrageous, and the food was poor. I ordered a kids' meal (chicken strips) because I wasn't that hungry, it was only lunch, and it said more than 600 calories, 550 of those most have been in the chips. I was served two measly, bland nuggets of chicken and more chips than I could possibly eat.

My mum and I opted for a burger and chips in The Terrace Restaurant instead of our usual home made sandwiches due to the terrible weather forecast (which actually proved to be inaccurate!) and we were pleasantly surprised! The burgers (one chicken, one pork and apple) were really delicious, generous and much better quality than expected. We had thought they were on the expensive side but had to admit they were tastier than those we've had at other 'posh' restaurants. The chunky, crispy chips were fab too! Really want to give a big thumbs up to the staff who were getting a little (undeserved) hassle from a demanding customer at the time we were there, I was impressed with their patience and professionalism and we found them very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

The food is good, however the prices are unreal, £8 for half a kids margarita pizza! The waiter got the order wrong and overall I am not enthusiastic about the service.

Plus, you have real cutlery, water at your disposal, and plenty of tables, both inside and outside. We went during the week and at a good time, so there was plenty of space and they were quick. Terrible Dining Experience at The Terrace, London Zoo I had the unfortunate experience of have a lunch at The Terrace, the main restaurant at London Zoo, and I must say it was an utter disaster. The food was abysmal, to say the least. The fish and chips, which should be a simple and classic dish, was an absolute disgrace. The fish was soggy and flavorless, and the chips were limp and greasy. It was honestly inedible and left me wondering how a place like this could serve such garbage to paying customers. As for the rest of the menu, don’t get your hopes up. The pizza, which might be the only thing remotely edible, was still far from good. The crust was tough, the toppings were sparse, and the overall taste was bland. It’s clear that quality and care are not priorities here. If you’re planning a visit to the zoo, do yourself a favor and avoid The Terrace at all costs. The food is overpriced, poorly prepared, and utterly disappointing. Save your money and eat elsewhere—anywhere else would be a better choice.

Expensive food that is not even worth the price. Small selection, the birds scattered everything.

Horrible..... the fact that you pay £5 for a portion of chips and when you receive them they are stone cold barely warm like they have been sitting around for ages. And the staff try to serve them and convince you they are freshly cooked and hot. I refused and told them I would like hot fresh chips and to wait 5 minutes. Went back and received chips that were luke warm again. I even said to the guys serving to try one and they agreed they were cold only after trying to serve them again.... disgusting. I waited for a third time to receive chips cooked by the chef but honestly really not up to standard. I would have given a 1 star but the young Asian guy was helpful and polite dealing with the situation, but some other staff are rude and look at you like you're stupid or not entitled to a good service or food. Not a good experience.

This place was beyond dirty ! it was literally filthy!! The food was absolutely poor quality too . But most importantly it was very very dirty . I am sure if there is a health and safety checks done , this place will get shut down at this point! because even without any professional assement anyone can see this is not a place to eat food nor bring a family and children as you will be risking getting your children food poisoned . The manager is in here named Josh had no clue what to say nor what to do , total shame !

The restaurant is very good for a zoo food place. Quite tasty, I don't think the restaurant deserves such a poor review.

Visted this so-called restaurant for lunch today while at London Zoo with my wife. The food is over priced and is like low rated school dinners. I had to eat Mac and cheese out of a white oven dish and potato wedges out of a metal basket. No plate was offered even though they were on the server side of the counter. It was like an over heater microwave meal. My wife went for a salad, big mistake, no choice and it was horrible. Staff were a joke, not very helpful and the woman on the cash desk was so slow and again not very helpful. I witnessed one member of staff coming out of the male toilets and playing with his noise before going back into the kitchen prep area. Also noted servers behind the counter were not wearing hair protection nets and playing with their hair. Food safety standards were very poor. Your catering contractor should be replaced. Next time I come to the zoo, I will bring my own lunch with me.

Terrible, I wish I could have something better to say but don't go there for food unless you have no other choice! You don't get served what is written on the menu. Service is terrible, we were treated like we weren't paying for the food so half the stuff that should have been on the dish wasn't there! Even when we told them that things were missing from the dish we were told we would find it at the condiments area which was not the case! I think we will stick to taking our own packed lunches for future reference!

I really enjoyed my freshly made vegan pizza here yesterday. It didn’t have as big a menu as advertised but we all found something we liked. The tables were cleaned regularly and the staff were polite and efficient. We got there just before 12 which was a good move as it got really busy once we’d sat down to eat. Also popped back for a tea/coffee just before we left to rest our weary legs!

I am a it u sure about other people reviews, maybe we were lucky or maybe we went there early enough to get our food warm but I am quite happy with the experience! We took 1 fish and chips and 1 pizza for something like 24£ which wasn’t much for me considering you are in the zoo and they could let you pay way more. There are many different options, we went for this since we have a 2 yo daughter and we were sure she was going to eat something from our plates. Fish and chips portion was quite generous, it the best I ever had but it was decent. The place was really full but we were lucky enough to find a space. Pizza dough not too bad

Poor service - had to clean dirty table myself as staff said they’d do it later. Food littered under the table. Mac & cheese, supposedly creamy looked and tasted like it had been sitting for a week. Cold fish, chips and shriveled peas. All in all quite awful. Take your own food and boycott! Read the reviews after posting - pathetic standard reply from GM saying feedback helps improve. No sign of it so please don’t reply to me. Pity tourists thinking they have entered an animal enclosure rather than a restaurant!

Very overpriced restaurant for what you get on the plate. Fish smells like vomit and is not good. Peas and corn are very dry. No glasses for drinks. The waiters don't smile.

This is the worst food I've ever had and I got food potioning. Don't go there.

Food absolutely dreadful. My burger tasted like vomit and was £16, my son’s pizza tasteless, wife’s fish and chips bland. How can you get chips wrong?!? This place did. What a scam. Incredibly expensive for the outcome - we were just normal family with normal expectations, we didn’t expect the Ritz but what we got was the local tip. The only food establishment on site, customers and families have no choice to use. The queues and organisation is chaotic with staff shouting and people trying to find trays. I wish we’d read the restaurant reviews before visiting!! So disappointed. DONT VISIT, BRING YOUR OWN FOOD and join the happy families sitting on the grass enjoying a picnic instead of eating vomit.

Disgusting food. Avoid! Worst mac and cheese I’ve ever eaten. A strong smell of sweat coming from the guy who serves upstairs 🤢🤢🤢 I had a stomach ache after the meal at this establishment.

Horrible experience, the food has no taste

As is traditional, the dining area in every zoo is always average. To my surprise, I had a good moment here, probably a better day as a cook, that is, in my case, a pizza maker. Excellent pizza, friendly staff, everywhere clean. I feel good about it and thank you for your service.

Not sure what these reviews are on about but the food was quite yum, warm, and relatively fresh. The staff were as friendly as can be. Many vegan options!!!

I visit frequently due to kids. • I don’t remember a time food wasn’t cold… • Apparently they now clean only the tables.. toddlers chairs were always dirty, now adults chairs are dirty too.. • Overpriced for no reason. £30 for 2 soft drinks, a fish and chips and a burger is way too much, especially when you take into consideration their tiny portions. Unfortunately, you don’t have many other options for lunch

Absolute disgrace! The food was inedible and I wish we’d read the reviews before spending an absolute fortune to eat a hot meal on a cold day. Pull your socks up and there is no excuse for serving rubbish like this these days.

Absolutely rank food. Had the pulled pork sub with chips. Pulled pork sub was freezing cold and was just bone and gristle. Chips were cold and grim at best. Imagine the worst school dinner you could have. The place is littered with food on the floor. Not expecting silver service but for price it is appalling

Awful food. Spent £84 on meals for four adults and three kids. Adult meals were worse than cold. Like they’d been frozen and only partially defrosted. Battered cod was 90% batter and the fish might as well have been leather. Burger was awful, the bun was hard and the meat wasn’t great. Everything was cold, for example the pasta had cheese added and it didn’t even melt one bit. Bad experience, bad service, dirty environment and a waste of a hundred euro, should have brought a picnic

If you fancy food which has been left Over from the tiger enclosure , please come and visit. The chips are like yellow pellets of tiger excrement except 15 degrees colder The fish is like a deep fried shoe with a wedge of defrosted lemon slice Oh and the staff are dead behind the eyes Great for laugh but not if you’re ravenous But please come visit for an unforgettable explosive experience

Visited here on the 29th of September 2023 with my sister in law and my son. We had visited in 2019 summer (pre covid) and remember the food being great and the dining area crowded, but clean. This time, it was crowded and messy, much like a school cafeteria. We ordered 2 fish n chips and one margherita pizza for my son. We also got drinks. The food was ok. Nothing great at all. Just mediocre. A disappointment from the previous time, although the prices being charged were quite high for the quality and quantity served. Could do better.

Just disgusting, overpriced, health and safety hazard. Avoid

Dirty tables and chairs. Tables not cleared. Food waste on floor. Very poor. Some staff were excellent, especially the one serving the pizzas. But one person on the tills was very mono syllabic when we tried to order hot chocolate. “There isn’t any” was the response. This facility really lets the zoo down. The pizzas were fresh and good but small and very expensive. I recommend avoiding this particular establishment if you can.

Honestly this place lets down london zoo. The staff are the most unwelcoming people you could find all of them with a face of boredom and not alot else. The interior is reminiscent of a school canteen with badly placed stations that you are supposed to navigate to then find the tiny area to pay where you then walk through to find a hot drink area that looks like its been pulled from a site office. And the food is vile all prepared in warming trays not a pleasant temperature to eat. And all just very nasty . And over priced £40 for 2x cheesburger & chips Limonata Latte Wouldn't go here again unless its completely changed. It has the potential given its location to be something amazing could be themed and made to feel like part of the zoo. Closing thoughts...... Hideous, bring your own food or eat elsewhere after you have visited the zoo .

Went back to terrace restaurant for the first time this year. Have been numerous times last year but this was by far the best experience. Not sure if something has changed but the staff were friendly and helpful and hardly any queues especially with it being Easter break. Seem much better staffed. Great experience!

Worst restaurant I have ever come across, WAY overpriced for pi** poor food

Absolutely appalled by the staff here, we went today on a school trip and was told by the zoo we could go in there to eat when teachers phoned the day before as it was raining today we couldn’t eat outside got stopped by the staff at the staircase and 50 plus 6/7 yr olds were sent out of the restaurant refusing us entry to sit and eat quickly out we went in the pouring rain and ended up eating off the dirty floor at the reptile house absolutely appalled at this restaurant and the zoo facilities to accommodate bad weather

School visit arranged with the zoo children turned away in the restaurant on a Rainey day to eat pack lunches because wasn’t paying customers how was this already not arranged by the zoo and restaurant knowing serval children will be arriving ? children had no choice but to eat sitting on the floor In the reptile house due to the weather and no seating area arranged or available…. Ridiculous

Food Poisoning Alert - 4 out of a party of 7 people ended up with food poisoning after they all ate the same choice of meal at The Terrace Restaurant in London Zoo. There are no other similarities in their diet leading up to the visit. The restaurant operators, Benugo, issued a bog standard scripted email saying it didn't happen. Westminster Food Safety Team have been advised (EHO). Be very careful and if you get ill take a stool sample to your doctor for testing!!! Oh and the GF option on the menu is........only chips!

Salads, chips, fish fine. Wraps decent. Warm sandwiches suck! They just heat them so they fall apart, instead of using a press. Could easily use a press so they can be eaten!

The tray were so wet no staff dried them. I had something to eat and that same evening I was vomiting. Food poisoning I got from this place. I will not be going back to eat at this place.

Premium price for mediocre food. Cakes are good but rest - just take sandwiches from home or buy something on your way.

Good sandwiches and salads. A nice selection of different types, especially for a vegetarian. Cakes were lovely too.

Absolutely no selection of drinks except diet coke for people that don't drink sugary drinks. Diet coke taste horrible and I will never give my young child that unhealthy drink to drink. Very disappointing for the ridiculous high prices they charge here for such a poor selection. Bring your own foods and drinks rather.

Please don't go and waste your money. I read the bad reviews before, but still ended up going as everything else wasn't nothing past a couple sandwiches. Overpriced, overcrowded, overadvertised, waste of space. Paid over £40 for 2 microwaved beef patties and some pickled salad with sauce for taste and 2 kids burger meals. Can go for just kids lunch, a cheeseburger or nuggets with sides were quite good for £6.50. Bring your own food, there are sooooooo many amazing picnic places and seats everywhere you go or if you're going for a whole day and want to take a break from the zoo, walk 10-15 minutes to some take away nearby.

Sitting here and thinking who priced this shelter food. 7 quid for kids meal, burger, fries and beans with sweetcorn. That's just price comparison. The quality is shelter quality. As cheap as it gets. Nice spot, management need to start serving real food tho as in this location (Zoo), it's the only restaurant. Pack your lunch if you're going Zoo. The food is honestly terrible. It would be cheaper to order Uber Eats and would actually be happy with the food.

The variety was limited and the fish very disgusting(the fish surely was expired). I wouldn't recommend this "restaurant"(doesn't even deserve the name) to anyone. If there was an option to put zero or less stars, I definitely would do it!!! NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!!!

I had a sandwich to be safe.. I mean, how can you can get a packed BLT sandwich wrong? They did! Tasteless! I would have been better off with a Tesco reduced sandwich!

Very expensive and disgusting food

Fried fish is more oil than fish. Plate was too small to eat conveniently. Almost no variety. It's a canteen, not a restaurant. Eat there if you have no other choice.

BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!! What a disgrace! School food for children, but nothing for adults. Even IKEA does better food than this and they don't even charge entry. Oh and if you don't eat gluten you can always chew on a napkin.

I would comment on the food but it never arrived. New QR table service is bugged if you use Apple Pay and there was a queue of people with no food. 30 mins waiting for nothing and a stroppy child.

Its much more of a canteen than it is a resturant. Fast, basic food at high prices.

I would not call this a restaurant in any way shape or form - it's a classic visitor canteen. Pretty grubby as a result of it being so busy and the amount of families eating there. They offered burgers, fish and chips or pizza, and surprisingly the quality of the food was better than the atmosphere. The prices are a bit steep though - around £12 for a meal - but it was good to see decent vegan options for my partner.

Total chaos plus overpriced. There are only a few basic meals you can get, and they all have separate queues. But the burger queue didn't even have a sign! They'd run out when me and my gf tried to get food, so we ended up getting cold sandwiches instead. The sandwiches we got were very basic, and probably would have cost £6 in total at tesco - but it cost us £17! I honestly wish I could rate this place zero stars instead of one.

I think I went to a different terrace restaurant in the Zoo than the other reviewers. Our meals were fantastic, the staff were incredible and had a real energy. My vegetarian pizza and salad was top notch and the vegan in our group was able to cobble a meal together. The best bit is you have views out to the zoo.

Terrible , half cooked and cold inedible food for silly prices. The management has to be so poor to provide such service and food at such a prime location. Having a decent meal is part of the family experience of visiting the zoo and it really needs to be paid attention to.

The street food with sweet chicken sauce and rice was pretty good. The bread was extra. The place was busy but alright prices.
