Went for a surprise high tea for my husband's birthday, it was a fabulous and memorable experience! From the email contact (Dee you were the best!), preparations, to the service staff, the delicious food and the beautiful atmosphere. It was all perfect! I can't recommend it enough wether you like to treat yourself or have a special moment to celebrate. Thank you Chesterfield!

I went to the Sweetshop afternoon tea yesterday and had a great time. The staff were all lovely and really made the experience enjoyable. The doorman was also lovely, very friendly and offered his help with luggage etc. The afternoon tea itself is all refillable and the staff didn’t make you feel guilty for asking for refills which was great. The sandwiches were lovely particularly the cucumber, cream cheese and dill. The scones were delicious, my favourite part of the afternoon tea, you could tell that they’d been cooked fresh and were lovely and warm. The cakes turned out to be my least favourite part of the experience, don’t get me wrong they looked fantastic but some were just too overly sweet for my tastes but that’s just me and my tastebuds. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back for another afternoon tea here, the extra little touches of the welcome drink and sweetshop at the end really round up a brilliant afternoon tea.

A real let down for a 5* hotel afternoon tea. I will explain all the points as to why you should NOT book it. The food was SO disappointing and does not match the description on the menu - the sandwiches were lacklustre, the cheese and tomato one was very salty, the cream cheese and cucumber had no dill in it so it was very flavourless. The egg mayonnaise one had no seasoning so also lacked flavour. The grilled vegetables were just aubergine and courgette so just tasted of pesto. The chocolate scone and peanut butter cup was one of the only nice things that I enjoyed eating. Now the desserts look pretty, but again so disappointing. The drumstick macaron barely tasted of raspberry or anything like a drumstick sweet. The apple and pecan pie was stale! Dry as sand (see picture, I took it home for my sister to try and she said the same). The rhubarb and custard choux bun was also stale and tasted eggy so wasn't pleasant. No flavour to anything, just sugar sugar sugar! The servers were lovely and polite, however, it wasn't busy when we visited on a Monday afternoon so there was no excuse for getting simple orders wrong twice. One of the servers came over to our table whilst my boyfriend had gone to the bathroom and asked if it was his birthday today, and I replied saying it's mine so she asked for my name and wrote it down on a little notepad. Despite waiting before they handed the bill, and after paying the bill (around 20mins), they forgot to bring out anything for my birthday. As we were leaving my boyfriend asked about this and they did apologise and hurriedly brought out the tiniest (and again stale) cupcake for me and said I can put it in the takeaway box. I also found a white hair in one of the sandwiches that I took for my sister to try as she's always been intrigued about the afternoon tea (see picture attached) which put her off completely. Overall, it is overpriced and overhyped. As some reviews have put it, daylight robbery! For a 5 star hotel, and the price point, it is absolutely not worth it. Compared to other afternoon teas where there is live music and tastier, better quality food, this one has let me down massively. I did send an email about all of this and the best they came back with is 'to extend a 25% reduction and complimentary glass of Champagne per person' for my next visit which will never be happening.

We went for the afternoon tea for my daughters 12th birthday. Part of the fun of course is the three tiers of food but sadly they served each person a plate with all the bits on so the magic was gone but also it’s a real pain to actually cut a scone when you’ve no room. There’s no picking what you fancy and sadly the girls didn’t actually care for most of the food. They love an afternoon tea, usually a real treat but this was very under par. Absolutely not worth £201.25 for two children and one adult.

Reserved a table at 2 pm for an afternoon tea for my family of four. This was our mistake, but we ate a light lunch an hour or two before arriving. The tea items are “unlimited” which may explain how expensive the overall experience is, so really, we should have just had breakfast that day and reserved a table closer to lunchtime to ensure we had room. However, the food that was offered was very average, so I wasn’t necessarily overly full when we left. I had a single bite of many of the sandwiches and, likewise, just a small taste of a number of the desserts. Even my kids, who generally love all things sweet, did not particularly enjoy any of the desserts. The towers of treats looked beautiful in pictures, and, I will say, we each had exceptionally good tea, but given the price of the meal, we were definitely expecting more.

Afternoon tea with a sweet shop theme. Took our children (2 families of four, 4 children in total) for a half term treat/experience. Also a treat for the adults. Started with a very strange drink served with a dry ice smoke effect. Non descriptive taste, but very sweet. Served flat champagne for first glass. Sandwiches underwhelming. Deserts poor. The children all have a sweet tooth but left the majority of the desert options. Adults too. Then came the offer of a tequila based cocktail or, from memory, a whisky based one. No thanks, it’s mid afternoon. Could we have a glass of Red instead? No, was the response, but you can have a glass of the job lot Lancer Rose that you’ve been drinking. The Grande Finale. The moment the kids were obviously looking forward to; yes, the trip to the sweet shop. The whole theme based around this moment, to be whisked away to a naff carousel and limited to a handful of penny chew type sweets. Dreadful day and very costly. The best part of £630 for two families and we didn’t even get to see Dick Turpin. Shame on you. I get it, we are in Mayfair, but you seriously need to take a look at this proposition as it left a very strong feeling of being fleeced.

Fantastic service from the staff on arrival & in the bar, it is a shame this did not carry on in the restaurant for our afternoon tea! Had to ask repeatedly for top up of drinks & food. We had members of our party with food requirements but were not advised at the start they should sit together to share their afternoon teas. The food was very average for the price, the chocolate scones were bitter & sandwiches had minimal filling. Disappointing for a first visit to The Chesterfield.

I was looking for a nice place to celebrate my dad retirement…. Well The Chesterfield Mayfair satisfy all my expectations. The hotel is fabulous, the autumn decorations at the entrance are amazing. Slavena, the hostess, was really polite and friendly to accommodate us in the Conservatory, where we enjoyed the Afternoon Tea. All the staff, in particular Fiachra, Tamara, Sofia, Carmen, were so polite, friendly and professional to make this experience, something to don’t forget easily. Really recommend it.

The photo on the website looked so appealing, we booked the afternoon tea. We waited for quite a while to be seated, the room looks very different than the picture! The sweet cart is in a different room. The staff was nice and attentive, but the food very underwhelming. The scones didn’t taste fresh, the chocolate one rather stale. The clotted cream was not creamy at all.

The staff were attentive and helpful and the food was nice tasting and interesting to look at. However when we came to pay the bill which was already going to be fairly whopping for five at £65 pp, the restaurant added a service charge on top adding an additional £48.90! Not sure I could recommend this for five people which cane out at just under £75 each which included two teenagers. Not worth the money at all in my opinion but still enjoyable if you have plenty of cash to splash!

Supposedly Butlers restaurant in the Chesterfield Hotel is known as a fine dining restaurant but in actuality it is a huge, mismanaged disappointment in almost every respect. One is at first we were shocked to see one half of the nicely appointed dining room permanently closed and out of service. We now understand after experiencing the Butlers food and service, it is apparent the regularly dining public is staying away. Why? Well to just name a few of the startling inferior aspects of the Butlers..... First let me assure the reader our traveling family was expecting a well prepared and well served expensive meal which was our goal. A goal we had no problem in fulfilling elsewhere in renowned London restaurants. Caesar salads were served with zero dressing with no attempt to reconcile this lack despite bringing it to the attention of the otherwise friendly but poorly trained staff. Most of our party of eight ordered salads but half of them came 15-20 minutes after the others were delivered. Some main dishes were barely warm and the sauce for some seemed to be nothing but plain unadulterated bouillon or Vegemite. and the accompanying potato mash was totally unheated. Plus after pointing this out and waiting 15 minutes for a warm mash, they served lukewarm mash again. One of our party wanted tequila on the rocks in a salt rimmed glass. The maîtresse de was dumbfounded and said just use the sale on the table which is impossible to do in a filled glass. There is much more lacking at Butlers, but suffice it to say avoid Butlers like the plague. I take no joy in reporting this and merely wished for an upscale and happily memorable dinner.

One of the best afternoon tea's I've had based on retro sweets. The chocolate scone is a bit left field and seems strange at first but totally tasty by the end. It is also the owner of the best chicken sandwich I've ever had at an afternoon tea, cue repeated requests for more! The staff are very attentive and definitely make the experience a lot nicer and to round it off, they'll send you away with your own bag of pic'n'mix that you can choose from, from the trolley.

Not only is this place stunning and sweet, the staff are so friendly and nice, warming and very well presented! Saqib was just so nice and my little girls (5 and 7) enjoyed talking to him. The food - most importantly, was just delicious!! so much so that we couldn't finish it all. I celebrated my 45th birthday there with my husband and two little ones and I am so glad that we did.

Took our two grandchildren with my wife to afternoon tea. The tables were so tiny for 4 people that I asked for a coffee table to put our pots of tea in case of an accident. There was only one small plate with knife and fork for each person to use for placing your sandwich as well as scones and jam!. The venue was in an old dusty conservatory with no music and not a very attentive waiters though very polite. Keep away from the afternoon tea if you want to avoid disappointment.

Unfortunately unlike many other’s who have kindly posted reviews on here, our experience of Afternoon Tea at The Chesterfield was rather disappointing. The staff were very attentive and courteous and I really appreciated how welcome they made us feel. Unfortunately for some reason at our seating on a Friday at 4:30pm there seemed to be an issue with a shortage of cakes/pastries. When the afternoon tea came out, understandably there is not enough room on the tea stand to put out 3 of each type of cake, so I just enquired whether one of each type of cake for the three of us would be bough out later and the waitress said we could have more sandwiches and scones if we wished. I said thank you, we have one of each of those, it’s the cakes I would like more of please. I got the same reply offering more sandwiches and cakes. Just to clarify things, I said was I expected to cut each cake into 3 small pieces then ? She looked embarrassed and said I could ask for more of the one’s we enjoyed the most. I left it for a while and once we had had our thirds of cake each, when the waitress came back and asked which we enjoyed the most, I said the small pink cheesecake, could we have 3 of those please, again I was meet with the offer of more sandwiches and scones. I did not want to ruin my eldest daughter’s birthday treat anymore by making a fuss, so I didn’t pursue it any further but did contact the Manager a few days later regarding our disappointing experience. He suggested it was all a “miscommunication issue” on my behalf, that afternoon tea was an unlimited eating experience, and they only bring out a certain amount of cakes, so not to create food waste. This was clearly not the case, as everyone else at the sitting took home their uneaten items in food boxes provided by the hotel, which is usually the option when you go for afternoon tea and the kind waitress gave us 6 extra scones to take away with us, also extra sweets, trying to restore some joy to a very underwhelming and frustrating experience.

We hosted a private dinner for our customers at the Chesterfield private room and it was outstanding! The food was wonderful, the hospitality was perfect, the venue is beautiful, and on top of all - Roberta, the Meetings & Events Executive for the hotel is truly exceptional, she was the reason we chose this place, such a great person to work with, took care of everything we wanted, was so responsive, patient, and always so kind, the entire staff were wonderful - really, best experience you can get!

My sister and I took my dad to the whiskey tasting at the Chesterfield Mayfair for Christmas, and the experience was so much fun. Alejandro was fantastic! He was knowledgeable and spent time sharing the origins/history of each whiskey and answering our questions. He even invited us to sample a very unique whiskey that had such a unique flavor and really made our tasting experience a step above other tastings. Thank you for hosting our tasting, Alejandro!

This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. The minute I arrived I was greeted by the amazing staff who made me feel welcome and taken care of thru the whole stay, once in the room I found the bed so comfy and the bathroom with a big old tub. The room was small, but I didn’t mind. The location was great. I’d visit again gladly and most hotels I don’t want to return.

I have just had the most Amazing stay at the chesterfield Mayfair to celebrate my birthday and cannot thank the staff enough for the welcome and care we recieved. From the moment we arrived until the time we Left all staff had been so warm and friendly and showed a real pride in theirs hotel. I would Like to thank the reception team for my Lovely birthday card and the cake and treats in the Room. The snowflake room was beautifully decorated and the facilities were perfect. Breakfast at The Chesterfield Mayfair is good quality and value. An extensive buffet is available alongside an a la carte menu. My wife and I have tried many of the dishes on the menu and can confidently say we have never been disappointed.
